Week 4 (or 5!) Jan '25 Low Carb Bootcamp

Morning all.

Spreadsheet, as ever

Although we're coming to the end of this particular Bootcamp, you'll see that @FinallyHere has added enough columns to the spreadsheet so that you can keep going, should you wish.

We'll also keep this thread going too, past the end of the week, for general low carb/Bootcamp chat and support - although I won't be starting a weigh-in thread each Monday after this one.

I know it's only been a short one this time, but looking at the spreadsheet, it looks like there have been some great results, even before today's weigh-in. Flowers

DD dispatched yesterday so starting again today on BC-lite, mainly because there are strawberries and blueberries in the fridge that need to be eaten and DH won't eat them! Exactly the same weight as I was when I joined my first bootcamp nearly 2 years ago so disappointing that it's all come back, but I know it works if I'm strict.
Onto my 2nd pint of herbal tea, just had an omelette for breakfast with chorizo, handful of mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, 2 eggs and cheese. That should be me until dinnertime but I have the berries and ffgy if I need for a snack. Mince to be used up so the plan is to make a spag bol and use it to stuff mushrooms, also need to do a fridge soup which can be used for lunches as well.
My big temptations (as I've mentioned lots) are bread and crackers, difficult to not have them in the house as DH likes them - he's mainly pretty supportive - so need to avoid getting bored while wfh and mindlessly picking at bad things.

Good morning, I've come to the LCBC board this morning for help, as a routine blood test has flagged me as pre-diabetic. Before the NHS fills my head with whatever they are recommending, I already know that LCHF is what I need to do. It's worked well before, and I've already been planning to get a grip - after almost or so of some very high stress for different reasons, I'm starting a new job (one of the causes of stress) in June and have no more excuses. This has been the wake-up call I needed to find the motivation. Kicking myself that it's come to this, but honestly not surprised given I'm the heaviest I've ever been.

I'd love to join in a pre-summer push, but given my situation, I'm starting now. I'd already cut out sugar and dramatically reduced alcohol last week, so that's a good start (although unfairly, the scales are much higher today than before the weekend!).

My plan today:
Creamy coffee (this is normal for me, although, seeing a comment above about eating three meals, I think I'll try that for a couple of weeks from tomorrow).
Lunch at school - meatballs in tomato sauce with salad (I will bring lunch the rest of the week as the menu isn't suitable)
Pork steak with hm mushroom sauce & ts broccoli
Got my Waterlogged app set up and some liquorice and mint tea on hand..

Going to read through your last boot camp threads today to pick up tips.

Baystard · 07/05/2025 19:21

Hello @lastchancesalmon I'm joining you with the pork chop tonight, mustard cream sauce and cauli mash here Smile

lastchancesalmon · 07/05/2025 23:53

Hi @baystard sounds delish! I’ve never made cauli mash although I do remember as a child mashing it with butter on my plate as the only way I could get it down!
I’m going to keep posting my food just to help me, thank you for bearing with me:
B - soft boiled egg, 1/2 avo, mayo
L - chicken, avo, romaine, cucumber, caesar dressing, parmesan shavings
D - hm moussaka, salad leaves, vinaigrette
almost there with 3.5 litres of water
day 2 complete. It feels a bit daunting at the moment but I know I just need to KOKO.

Baystard · 08/05/2025 18:54

Vegetable soup at lunchtime today and swerved the bread. Added lots of salt and it seems to have helped with the permanent headache I've had this week.

Steak and salad planned for supper, followed by stewed rhubarb and clotted cream.

lastchancesalmon · 08/05/2025 21:36

Creamy coffee (took FFGY to work but forgot about it until lunch)
Frittata (pancetta, courgette & feta), leaves & vinaigrette, FFGY
sausages, roasted cauliflower, cabbage & ts broccoli dressed with Boursin and cream
I’ve felt a bit headachy but a Zero tab seems to have taken care of it - good reminder about extra salt, I’d forgotten that. Struggling a bit with the water again today - I think I need to get more in earlier in the day.
Successful day 3 😇

LCagain · 08/05/2025 22:39

I'm also up for June BC! Thank you @venusandmars

lastchancesalmon · 09/05/2025 23:07

Day 4. Scales are turning downward!
B Forgot about my packed breakfast again..creamy coffee
L Leftover moussaka, salad, vinaigrette
D burger bowl - bbq’d burger with melted Raclette cheese, iceberg, tomato, cucumber, avo, mayonnaise & mustard

mrsannefourmile · 10/05/2025 08:32

I will have been low-carb for 9 weeks on Monday. Sadly, the scale has stayed the same for about 3 weeks... :( Really disheartening.

Today I will have;

B - a black coffee
L - whole block of halloumi, 2 fillets of salmon, strawberries & clotted cream, cheese wrapped in prosciutto (from M&S) , 2 avocados with lime & chilli
D - going out for dinner :( not good for progress but can't get out of it.

mrsannefourmile · 10/05/2025 08:35

Current weight- 108kg / 17 stone (shameful)
Goal is 76kg / 12stone

I'm 5"9 so even at 12 stone i won't be classed as overweight

lastchancesalmon · 10/05/2025 08:51

Well done for KOKO @mrsannefourmile-perhaps you are making some non scale progress? I’ve found making sure I’m drinking all the water can help when the scales isn’t shifting.

mrsannefourmile · 10/05/2025 10:29

Thank you. @lastchancesalmon I Think so. I can feel my waist drawing in again - i've missed it!

I think from next week im going to go back to keto rather than low carb. Thanks for the tip about drinking more water.

DrBlackbird · 10/05/2025 18:21

Adding myself back onto the thread for inspiration and motivation. I did last years Bootcamp and lost a stone. Managed to keep most off but plateaued and have found it hard to get back into being Bootcamp strict.

CleanQueen123 · 10/05/2025 18:47

I'm going to Uber camp it for the first three days of next week. I could do with a shock to the system after falling off the wagon somewhat.

lastchancesalmon · 10/05/2025 21:41

Hi @DrBlackbird and @CleanQueen123 I’m happy to have more company!
brunch/lunch: Frittata and creamy coffee
snack olives and anchovies
dinner barbecue chicken, steak and lamb chops with dressed leaves and a slice of Jarlesberg

DrBlackbird · 10/05/2025 22:57

Cooked a ham today so had sliced ham plus salad, tomatoes, and egg for dinner. With the nice weather it’s easy to go down the salad route.

CleanQueen123 · 12/05/2025 06:32

Right, I'm 12.04st this morning. I've got a holiday the last week of August and I want to be 11st by then. Time to get back on the wagon and KOKO!

SemmaLina · 12/05/2025 09:00

@CleanQueen123 I’m in the same boat as you
Weighed in at 12st this morning

We have a family wedding late August , and I have a big (65 ) birthday this summer too
We went on a big holiday in Feb / March and I put weight on , then put a bit more on when we got back as I flopped around whining that I’ve got nothing to look forward tooo

KOKO and Water ,Water , Water

mrsannefourmile · 12/05/2025 18:17

Weighed myself this morning - 16stone 10lbs

a long way to go… but not even close to giving up

saw a photo of myself from when I went out for dinner on Saturday… I can’t believe that’s what I look like to other people. Genuinely obese. I feel so embarrassed

B - nothing
L - wrapped slices of beef up in goats cheese, Chinese leaf cabbage with olive oil, whole pack of king prawns. Half a square of 100% dark chocolate, some plain Greek yogurt with tea spoon of peanut butter . Now drinking tea with almond milk

will probably eat more later

lastchancesalmon · 12/05/2025 23:09

7 days completed. I’ve lost 3.5lbs, which I am very happy with. In 2 weeks I’ve gone from drinking every night at a level I’m ashamed to share to having drinks on only 2 days this week and those being very limited. Really focusing on water and hit my target most days. Energy levels low this last few days - I remember this from last time and I can push on through. I wonder if electrolytes would help? I keep forgetting to add salt.
Today:
B creamy coffee
L M&S mozzarella balls in pesto and salad (possibly pesto not on camp as nuts? But emergency measure to swerve the sausage and mash in school)
D burger bowl
Here’s to summer holiday success 🏖️

DrBlackbird · 13/05/2025 23:10

@mrsannefourmile i always think I’m slimmer than I am until I see a photo of myself. Then I’m shocked at how heavy I look am even though logically I’m well aware of how much extra weight I’m carrying.

Need to up my water consumption. Otherwise yogurt for breakfast, leftovers for lunch and thin steak sliced with leeks and tomatoes and cauliflower cheese for dinner. Trying hard not to snack on nuts but they’re a real weakness.

Baystard · 14/05/2025 07:16

Well done @lastchancesalmon on making it through the week and seeing the success showing through on the scales!

NotMe1981 · 14/05/2025 09:51

It’s been a while since I’ve been on a bootcamp and sorry if this has already been mentioned, but for anyone stuck in a bit of a rut with low carb meals, Chat CPT is a brilliant tool. I use it to make a weekly meal planner, it generates meals based on my dietary preferences. You can then ask it to generate a shopping list for you for those meals, and then ask it for the individual recipes as and when you need them. I’ve now got a lot more options and all the recipes I’ve tried so far have been really tasty.

prettybird · 14/05/2025 10:48

Coming back to the thread after a few weeks off the wagon Blush - mostly far too much wine.

Have done well the last couple of days, although still not drinking enough water, and will maybe weigh myself on Monday….Hmm

I’ll join in @venusandmars’ Boot Camp in June. I’d like to lose some of weight I’m assuming I’ve put on by September as we’re hoping to go to South Africa again then for 3 weeks. However, that’s dependent on the sale of my dad’s flat going through. The first sale fell though, but it sold again last month and it’s due to complete on 10 June. Then we’ll have loads of money to go travelling Grin

That's a great idea @NotMe1981. Are there specific prompts you put in? I find sometimes if you're not clear you get a load of nonsense back.
