May '24 Low Carb Bootcamp - Final weigh-in and ongoing chat

BIWI · 08/07/2024 08:34

Morning all Flowers

Here's the spreadsheet for its final outing although that said, you'll see that @FinallyHere has added extra columns for anyone who wants to keep using it

I hope that all has gone well - and I notice that we have at least 2 Bootcampers who have reached/exceeded the 1 stone mark, which is fantastic!

Just because we've reached the end of the 8 weeks doesn't mean that you have to stop - or stop chatting. We'll keep this thread going for as long as people want to use it, and I'll start a new one once this one gets full.

@WongKarPie that is insanely rude Hmm

So is the way Biwi speaks to people. But even if you think I’m seriously rude, please do look up low carb and menopause before you make a decision.

Thistle72 · 20/08/2024 16:07

Bootcamp will be perfect for me but thanks anyway.
Next date anyone? 😜

UnOeufIsEnough · 20/08/2024 16:09

@Thistle72 BIWI hasn't got a date for another bootcamp but you're very welcome to hang out here!

TheOnlyMrsW · 20/08/2024 17:47

@Thistle72 welcome - we're (mostly) a friendly bunch and BC has worked wonders for me peri and all..............

Are you on the right thread? I've never been patronised by @BIWI. Low carb will 'work' for anyone. Just as VLCDs will 'work' for anyone. And slimming world will 'work' for anyone. They'll all work for anyone who follows the rules. And they will all fail the moment the diet is stopped. They all create calorie deficit. The only difference is how easy the individual finds it to follow those rules and how easy they are to adopt in every day life. Personally, I find LCHF (low carb high fat) diets easy to follow and don't feel deprived, so I can stick to it.

BIWI · 20/08/2024 18:27

Oh don't worry @Lougle - @WongKarPie is one of the Tattle Life trolls who has decided she is going to come over here to, and I quote:

I'm so mad I've actually posted for the first time in about a year. Might rip BIWI a new one while I'm there

Was that written on tattle?!

I am sticking to low carb this week but I am insanely bored of food currently. I am limited, being a vegan, I realise this and I must stick to it but I am going to do some googling and see if I can find anything new!

Magnolia82 · 20/08/2024 18:34

I don't usually get involved in any posts/threads where people are being difficult/rude, but I just wanted to check you are ok @BIWI?

You are so kind and generous in all the time and help you give to all of us. I know I'm often quite quiet on the threads, but whenever I have asked a question, you've always been so helpful. I am really thankful for all the time and effort you put into running bootcamps and answering questions in between.

This is lovely - you could swap out the paneer for tofu.

Vibrant spinach, coconut & paneer curry recipe | Good Food

Use spinach to form the base of this silky curry, which adds an earthy flavour and a vibrant green colour. You can freeze the sauce for a few months, too

Thank you @Magnolia82 - yes, I'm fine. No point engaging with trolls!

Personally, I find LCHF (low carb high fat) diets easy to follow and don't feel deprived, so I can stick to it.

There was a R4 item on weight loss and food addiction today. Made me think about how well I’ve done (mostly) sticking to this new WOE.

The not feeling deprived and not being hungry has really been a mind shift for me. I’ve not had any cake, bread, crisps, or biscuits etc since the start of Bootcamp and more importantly don’t crave them. I remember @BIWI saying the aim was to break the sweet tooth craving and glucose highs/lows and I feel I’ve done that thanks to @BIWI and everyone else posting here in good faith with encouragement and suggestions.

Really don’t understand the mind set of trolls 🧌

UnOeufIsEnough · 20/08/2024 23:03

I completely agree @DrBlackbird!

I hit a wee target today of weighing in at below 100kg. I love a mini target. Next one is to lose 4lb to take me from the obese category to the overweight category. This same target takes me to 3 stone off.

I literally couldn't have done it without @BIWI and everyone's chat on these threads. Low carbing has reduced my weight and it's controlling my lipoedema symptoms. I have more energy and I started doing Joe Wickes again! Planking and squatting is far more achievable almost 3 stone down!

DrBlackbird · 20/08/2024 23:32

I have more energy

Yes I remember thinking back at the start that I didn’t feel any more energetic but today was out walking and it struck me that I definitely feel it now.

NotDonna · 21/08/2024 05:10

I didn’t see ‘whatever pie’s’ post before it was deleted. Nor have I heard of Tattler Life so Googled and really?
How anyone can our fabulous BIWI a hard time is beyond me.
Im on my phone and a new page so can’t see/tag whoever posted asking about the next one & menopause. BIWI taking a break but read beginning posts of each week and the spreadsheet tabs. Then ask any questions here as we’ll all gladly help.

BIWI · 21/08/2024 08:21

Thank you @DrBlackbird @UnOeufIsEnough and @NotDonna!

The Tattle Life people hate me. They think I'm rude, patronising and also mentally deficient, someone who knows nothing about low carbing or nutrition. A 'carb hitler' even (their words).

None of them understands low carbing, yet they love to criticise it and ridicule me. (Yes, I'm on Tattle and can see/read the long-running MN thread 👀)

Oddly they're always over here, reading not only posts but also checking out the spreadsheet. For something they declare to despise, they spend a lot of time walking among us!

Best to ignore.

I've never really understood the psychology of trying to tear people down who are trying to help or trying to improve themselves.

Epic fail on "tearing you a new one" 🤣

Thistle72 · 21/08/2024 08:43

@NotDonna it was me who asked about the new date. That’s a good idea actually reading the bootcamp ones before. It’s my birthday this week so not starting this week but plan for Monday. I’ll get prepped. Thank you all 😊

TheOnlyMrsW · 21/08/2024 08:53

@BIWI never heard of Tattle Life before now but I can't imagine being so daft as to advertise that you were going to troll someone else and expecting to get away with it - oh to have so much free time!!!! Another one saying thank you for all of the time and effort you put into this community...........it took me a few goes to get into it but LC has made such a difference to me in the last year Flowers
Desperately trying to finish work today and pack the car, setting off this afternoon for the final festival of the summer and volunteering as well - equal amounts looking forward and scared witless - so unlikely to be a brilliant weekend foodwise but at least there will be very little alcohol as we can't drink whilst "on duty"

NotDonna · 21/08/2024 09:51

No scales on the boat so no clue what my weight is doing but my shorts still fit. Other than a freshly baked croissant this morning I’m being relatively good - the other downfall is alcohol - G&T rather than wine but can not find any diet tonic in the little mini marts so… I am drinking lots of water though. And trying to keep veg intake high.

MissBeckIsAtWork · 21/08/2024 09:54

Good grief!! I don't log on for a day because I've nothing really to add apart from shitty taste buds, and there's been drama!! 😂😂
