I know! Doesn't time fly when you're having fun? Wink

As ever, here's the spreadsheet

If you haven't seen any loss this week - or have seen a slight gain - but you know you haven't cheated, please don't despair. Remember, this is often the case in weeks 3 and 4. So don't panic, just KOKO.

Although I have very much enjoyed the consistent run of lovely weather we've been having, I am looking forward to the arrival of some cooler air and, in particular, some rain. Looks like we might be in for some thunderstorms too.

Anyway, wherever you are and whatever your weather is like, I hope you have a good week

There is a theory @bluefortheready that we all have a set point, when it comes to our weight.

It's really worth getting hold of a copy of Why We Eat (Too Much), by Dr Andrew Jenkinson who explains this theory.

So it's not all in your mind!

Well done though for getting rid of the extra poundage and for getting back into the zone!

You are right though - nuts can very quickly become very carby. It's also why there's a nut carb counter on the spreadsheet

Trying this recipe tonight, though obviously without the sweet potato. We have friends staying (who are not low-carbing) so will be using up our home grown potatoes on them! Serving with our French and runner beans (I feel like they go on forever 😩) and sautéed courgettes (ditto 😂)

I've had a bit of a Waitrose splurge with friends as an excuse! Loads of lovely meats and cheeses in the fridge!

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa hope your having more luck than us today, dd is missing 2 results. Been rejected based on the fact that it looks like she only sat 1 exam. Been into college and they are trying to sort as I'm sat on hold trying to get through to uni. Argh.

BIWI · 18/08/2022 10:48

Oh no - really sorry to hear that @ditavonteesed - hope college can help you get it sorted Flowers

Really hope it gets sorted quickly @ditavonteesed

@BIWI that's the book that has inspired me - knowing that I'm not stuck like this despite past bad habits and genes.

Lougle · 18/08/2022 12:10

@bluefortheready I've found that my weight hits a shelf and stalls for a few days/couple of weeks, hovering, then I get a small whoosh and steady loss until the next plateau.

Chocasaurus · 18/08/2022 12:18

Hope everything gets sorted quickly @ditavonteesed

I can't stop thinking about chocolate today....please send help!

ditavonteesed · 18/08/2022 12:20

I'm not saying what I've ate. My head is going to explode soon. Been on phone all morning, not got anywhere. Just need them to reopen her offer so she doesn't lose her place.

bandbsmummy · 18/08/2022 12:57

What a fantastic set of graphs @Lougle!

FinallyHere · 18/08/2022 13:01

@Chocasaurus

How are you doing water wise?

Anytime I forget to drink lots I get a craving for something and yes, usually water.

@ditavonteesed fingers and paws all crossed for you here.

Lougle · 18/08/2022 13:06

@ditavonteesed what a mess up! I hope they sort it quickly.

Chocasaurus · 18/08/2022 14:39

@FinallyHere I'm doing ok with water I think, usually have around 3.5l a day, and 2l down so far with another glass on the go. I am SO bored of water though - usually drink a lot of squash - which might tie in with what you are saying.

Have resisted the chocolate but did have a coke zero...and truth be told I didn't actually enjoy it that much so lesson learnt!

ditavonteesed · 18/08/2022 15:35

Update, got one more result through which gave enough points to get her course through clearing. I have had all the emotions today. Now I'm going to sleep for a thousand years.

Lougle · 18/08/2022 15:42

That's brilliant news @ditavonteesed

BIWI · 18/08/2022 15:50

@ditavonteesed I'm so pleased/relieved for you both. How is DD feeling now?

Have a large Ginand some Cake from me!

@ditavonteesed so pleased for you and DD

ChimneyPot · 18/08/2022 16:13

@ditavonteesed Exams and results are stressful enough without admin messes adding to it.
Delighted she has her course.

ditavonteesed · 18/08/2022 17:11

@BIWI I've just been to check on her and she is fast asleep, we both burst out crying when the woman on the phone said I can offer you an unconditional place. She actually handled it all very well, I'm so proud.

This is excellent news. My DD didn't quite get the grades expected but had her place accepted anyway - which we actually found out before the grades were even in hand.

We are all very happy but like you we are exhausted. I'd planned to go the gym but feel stupidly emotional as well as tired so I'm going to give it a miss tonight.

ditavonteesed · 18/08/2022 17:36

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa amazing well done your dd. Now a week to relax before the GCSEs, it can't possibly be as stressful as today has been. I'm not sure I want kids.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 18/08/2022 17:39

@ditavonteesed - I'm a Head of Y11 so I have the worries of 270 teenagers to contend with next Thurs. 😂

comfortablyfrumpy · 18/08/2022 17:57

@ditavonteesed so pleased for your DD 😁

Exam results days are a part of teaching tgat I really don't miss. So stressful. @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa I hope your students have a successful day next Thurs!

I am reporting back on the sugarfreelondoner low carb bread I made last night. I ate it toasted as it is still moist in the middle despite being baked for 1.5 hours - it is really, really filling! A couple of small toasted buttered slices for brunch kept me going until mid afternoon. I think I prefer the taste of @Baystard 's so an going to do that one next, but in the oven, not in the SC.

comfortablyfrumpy · 18/08/2022 18:00

@BIWI I haven't bought any lc bread yet, only baked it. The ones I have seen are so expensive- so I thought I would do my own.
Will check out the TL recipe - thank you.

ditavonteesed · 18/08/2022 18:07

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa blimey I thought 1 at a time was bad enough.

I could really do with a glass of something but since dd is going out I don't drink just in case mums taxi is needed.
Sorry for the totally un diet related talk but I appreciate all the support it's been the weirdest day ever.

BIWI · 18/08/2022 18:20

No worries @ditavonteesed - you know that's what we're all here for! If all we talked about was the diet it would be a very dull thread Smile
