I know! Doesn't time fly when you're having fun? Wink

As ever, here's the spreadsheet

If you haven't seen any loss this week - or have seen a slight gain - but you know you haven't cheated, please don't despair. Remember, this is often the case in weeks 3 and 4. So don't panic, just KOKO.

Although I have very much enjoyed the consistent run of lovely weather we've been having, I am looking forward to the arrival of some cooler air and, in particular, some rain. Looks like we might be in for some thunderstorms too.

Anyway, wherever you are and whatever your weather is like, I hope you have a good week

Hi all, first time poster on this thread. I'm just wondering if anyone has noticed a change to their libido since starting low carb?! Not sure how to put this delicately but I seem to have gone from not being particularly bothered about sex, to being really quite keen! Unfortunately I'm single but it's giving me some hope for the future!

FinallyHere · 17/08/2022 17:31

Welcome @Easterdaffsx

Added you to the spreadsheet ok

[link in the first post on the thread, sorry on my phone or I'd repost the link here]

FinallyHere · 17/08/2022 17:44

@cardboardbox24 ahem, I think I know what you mean. It makes sense to me, because the 'effort' of making and eating lovely delicious food makes me feel good about myself. And having more energy helps too.

I wouldn't rule out any direct impacts, certainly indirectly those would reinforce feeling good for me.

Supersee · 17/08/2022 17:46

Hi all, I'm giving low carb another bash, started Monday. After drifting from diets to diets and getting nowhere, I'm back at the only diet where I made significant progress via Atkins years ago and felt good. I love all meats, cheeses, eggs, veg and don't mind eating repetitively. Carbs (and pizza, my downfall) make me feel bloated so I need to pick my hard!

Can someone critique please as I'm a bit out of practise. It's not strictly boot camp as I'm trying 16/8.

B - black coffee. Surprisingly enjoying this as I never thought I could drop the milk first thing.
L - 2 sausages (good quality low carb), 2 bacon, 2 scrambled eggs. Will probably drop the bacon and eggs to 1 as my appetite decreases.
D - Fajita chicken, cheese and lettuce wraps.

B- same
L - same
D - 3 homemade meatballs, burrata, salad leaves, tomatoes, courgette ribbons and a sprinkling of toasted almonds.

B- same
L - same
D - steak with cabbage cooked in cream and lemon with a little red onion and Brussel sprouts.

Snacks some ham and cheese and tea with almond milk.

Lots of water and working on upping the veg.

Supersee · 17/08/2022 17:47

*sorry meant probably drop the sausages and bacon to one each.

prettybird · 17/08/2022 18:02

I'm sure @BIWI will be along with a more thorough critique but my immediate thought looking at that menu was "Where are the veg?"

On this WoE we are encouraged to eat a FLGV (Fuck Load of Green/Good Veg) Grin

Supersee · 17/08/2022 18:03

Thanks @prettybird yep working on upping the veg!

BIWI · 17/08/2022 18:09

Welcome @Supersee - and yes, good plan to up the veg!

Chocasaurus · 17/08/2022 20:04

@prettybird it's so annoying! They should have a clear an universal system, like milk, and no mixing on the shelf. Harrumph.

Today has been ok, period v painful but no cheating. Even avoided the chocolate biscuits I got for my parents after some heavy hinting from them. Todays LBW is my period pants are feeling a bit more comfortable as they had been v snug.

B - coffee with a large splash of milk
L - tuna, feta and avocado on mixed salad leaves, tomato and mayo.
D - courgetti and chilli (avoiding the kidney beans - accidentally ate one and really didn't like the texture!) Followed by a teaspoon of yoghurt as DD polished the tub off
W - 3.5l and still going

Baystard · 17/08/2022 20:24

Very hungry today, suspect my hormones, but compliance has been pretty good. BBQ at lunchtime - [many] sausages and salad; keto toast with lots of butter for tea; posh cheese as a snack; 4 small squares 95% chocolate.

Pleaseandthankyou · 17/08/2022 21:06

@ditavonteesed hope all goes well tomorrow. Spent the night before my DDs results investigating clearing options. She managed to get accepted for her first choice without quite making the grades. Good luck x

BIWI · 17/08/2022 21:30

Fingers crossed for you for tomorrow @ditavonteesed Flowers

Lougle · 17/08/2022 22:19

Hope it all goes well @ditavonteesed !

B - Greek yoghurt and berries
L - 2 hard boiled eggs, tomatoes, celery dipped in blue cheese
D - roasted veg and Bolognese sauce

F - 3 litres.

comfortablyfrumpy · 17/08/2022 23:15

Good luck for tomorrow @ditavonteesed.

Today's intake:-

Snack: VLC bread, toasted with butter (I forgot to take my yummy yoghurt breakfast into work 😔 ).
L: Chicken salad
D: aldi vegan sausages (better than they sound), roast cauli and shed load of veg.
Just had a hot choc (Cocoa powder, hot water and a splash of milk as I have run out of cream). It feels the weather for it!

KOKO. Not sure why, but I felt thinner today. Will probably have a feeling fat day tomorrow! 😆

bandbsmummy · 18/08/2022 06:35

Hope everything goes well @ditavonteesed

NSV for me today - I can zip my coat up! Not comfortably...yet.

Snap! A hoody I bought ten days ago zips up now where it didn't when I bought it!

Weigh in for me today - 1lb off. That's 10lbs in four weeks. 🙌🏻

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 18/08/2022 07:30

@ditavonteesed we are in almost exactly the same boat with options if she doesn't get the grades. Not a wink or sleep was had in this household last night. In less than an hour we will know. Good luck! 🤞🏻

comfortablyfrumpy · 18/08/2022 07:55

I am experimenting with LC bread. Tried a different recipe last night . It is lovely but did not rise . (Probably because I put too much psyllium husk powder in by mistake. It also took far longer to cook than state.ld. I think the mixture was too thick, so I will try again, make sure the mixture is looser (might add more baking powder).
sugarfreelondoner.com/low-carb-bread-chia-almond-bread/

I am going to have another go with @Baystard 'so recipe too, but in the oven.

KOKO my friends. Inspired by the posts above, I have just tried my winter coat on. Last time I wore it I could barely do it up. It fits again 😀

BIWI · 18/08/2022 09:26

@comfortablyfrumpy there's a Tom Kerridge recipe here for Almond Soda Bread, which is in his Dopamine Diet book. It's more like a cross between bread and cake, but it might toast well - I never tried that.

I presume you've already tried ordering from The Seriously Low Carb company? . Their low carb bread is, IMVHO, the best low carb bread I've tried - I make sandwiches with it, and I'd challenge anyone to tell me it's not 'ordinary' bread! (I don't think it toasts very well though)

So it's been a couple of weeks since last posting
I was on holiday for a week then actually the week back was the worse and trying to do boot camp light I started binging on nuts
It had the same affect carbs does and I was horribly bloated
Didn't weigh myself and then started to focus on strict boot camp again
My weight had gone up by three pounds which to be honest I was delighted with - have lost one of those so two pounds higher than last weight recorded.
I'm honestly pleased as I thought it would all somehow magically come back on so half a stone down still and back in the zone and reaping the benefits again - high energy etc
I think I just have to avoid nuts I just eat too much
Hovering at the 10 stone mark and I also think there's some psychology at play with getting below this
Target is 9.7 but haven't been there for a long time
Anyway koko as it really makes me feel good
