Morning all.

Here's the spreadsheet for its final outing

I hope that the last 8 weeks have been successful - and also enjoyable! - and I look forward to seeing the final results on the spreadsheet.

@Lougle I saw your update on the last thread, and I'm very, very pleased for you Flowers

The next Bootcamp will start at the end of July (I'll post a sign-up thread in a couple of weeks), but in the meantime, we'll keep this chat thread going.

I've lost 5.7lbs during this bootcamp. It may not seem like much but I am taking some medication which has weight gain as a side effect so this is a fantastic result for me. I have another stone to go so shall KOKO. The cat weighed in with me on Monday and has STS, but for the first time in ages when I took her to the vet nothing was said about her weight!
Congrats to everybody on your losses, and thank you to BIWI for the bootcamp

@Bananajam if you have your results then you can pm them to me if you'd like me to take a look at them. My LDL went up on low carb but my overall lipid profile improved massively. Low carbing reduces blood pressure so if it wasn't already high before you started it's unlikely to be an issue.

That's so helpful and kind, thank you! I will request the results and send you a PM when available. I'm feeling so much better and healthier and had expected a drop so to be told the result was high was a bit of a shock!

Hello, I have just started following BC rules having tried and failed at so many other things over the last few years. I’ve been doing the research and I’m convinced it is way forward.

This is my 3rd day today and I have had
B: eggs scrambled in butter, half a tomato with olive oil
L: Tuna mayo lettuce wraps (I found a great low carb avocado oil mayo in Tesco) with a piece of cheese on the side
S: Mixture of 10% Greek yog and a couple of spoons of double cream with a drop of vanilla extract
D will be chicken breast, veg and olive oil

lots of decaf tea with no sugar soya milk (zero carbs) and so far 2L of water.

Am I along the right lines? I know BC has just finished but I can’t wait for the next one I need to get started right away!

I have a funny taste in my mouth, a headache and I am knackered. Hoping it starts to pass soon. Already less hungry than normal though.

I have 1.5 stone to lose and I’m menopausal. Doing several gym classes a week.

any feedback will be gratefully received!!

well done to all completing the May BC !!

@venusandmars thank you for the breakfast ideas, I struggle to get my head round "main meal" food at that time of day but will give it a try, we always have soup in the freezer for DH for work! I don't always eat it (or it's more like brunch) but I've definitely been stuck in an egg rut as it's easy to do while I'm working from the kitchen table.
Rotten weather has meant I've been more sedentary than usual the last couple of days and tempted to snack in the afternoons mainly out of boredom, had a piece of halloumi today rather than toast though 😂.
Yesterday's meals was an omelette with 2 eggs, sundried tomatoes, mortadella and topped with cheese id-morning, then a salad (handful iceberg, handful rocket, peppers, more sundried tomatoes and fried halloumi) for tea with loads of water.
Today eggs mashed with butter, halloumi for a snack and fish stew with cauliflower rice - courgette, chorizo, chopped onion, chopped pepper, tinned toms and frozen white fish fillets. Lots more water again - there seems to be a sparkling water shortage where we are so onto still and not liking it at all 😪.
BIWI hope you enjoy your festival this weekend, thank you for the threads and BC, even if the weight is taking a while I'm loving the foods and feeling slimmer

glamourousindierockandroll · 29/06/2022 21:41

I've had some chocolate tonight and really pissed off with myself. It was a completely emotional response to stress and I'm regretting it now .

Ollieharriet · 29/06/2022 23:26

Stayed the same again which is disappointing! Still sticking to the plan though and not going up so that’s a positive.

venusandmars · 30/06/2022 00:01

@Bananajam my main reason for losing weight was retelad to blood pressure, I lost weight on another regime, but it was only on low carb that it really changed.
IME (n=1) low carb equals lower blood pressure.

On the lipid profile, you need ALL the data - we need lipids in our body, so it's not all bad, but some kinds are better than others.

venusandmars · 30/06/2022 00:13

@TheOnlyMrsW re breakfast - yes, blame Mr Kellog for that imprint that says there are 'breakfast foods' [go on, say it in a scary, spooky voice!!] and that they are full of wheat and sugar

I first had 'palpa' (smashed avocaado with chilli) 20 years ago in Ecquador (long, long, before avocado was a trendy thing); I had eggs, mayo and prawns for breakfast in Iceland in 1979; A traditional English (other countries are available) breakfast is eggs, bacon, sausage, tomatoes, mushroom...

averywittyusername · 30/06/2022 09:52

Hi, just checking in. I'm pleased with my BC loss but even more pleased to confess that I didn't follow BC for various reasons over the past few weeks and I have been maintaining like a champ. It's been fairly sensible eating supplemented by the occasional cake, and (probably too much) wine. I'm also doing loads of exercise. I need to lose a bit more weight, ideally another half stone, and I now can see that the path to slimdom for me will require strict low carb. But knowing that I can follow this with a plan that includes being sensible and weighing daily is a delight. So rather than crash out & say I didn't stick to bootcamp I'm calling this a huge success and I look forward to joining the next one. Thanks BIWI and Baystard for the SOF and all the support!

BIWI · 30/06/2022 10:44

Welcome @turnaroundtouchtheground!

Sounds like it's all going well for you - that funny taste in the mouth and the headache are all signs of carb flu (but also that it's working!).

Have a read of this thread - the FAQ thread - which will explain about it, and how to deal with it

OP posts:
Baystard · 30/06/2022 12:40

@venusandmars I often make a fry up as an evening meal...

B- black coffee
L- fasting
D- high fat beef burgers, salad, gherkins, grated cheese.

This week I've found it hard to stop eating once started, even though I'm not actually hungry when I break my fast, so I'm doing OMAD on alternate days to maintain a bit of control.

turnaroundtouchtheground · 30/06/2022 15:22

@BIWI thanks for the welcome!

I’m feeling bloody grim today, day 4. But I’m pleased that all signs are as expected and looking forward to passing through the transition. I’ve had a read through all the useful threads, thanks

Lougle · 01/07/2022 22:23

Has anyone got any ideas for low carb buffet food? We're having an end of church homegroup social next week and we're all bringing a dish. So far people are bringing sausage rolls, pizza, crisps, etc., so could do with a low carb option.

SummerSazz · 01/07/2022 22:34

@Lougle crustess quiche, egg/cheese muffins, cocktail sausages, cheese and cucumber on sticks, chorizo/cheese rollitos, salami & gherkins on sticks, prawns with dips (expensive choice!), low carb chicken nuggets (think there is a recipe on the thread), veg frittata slices, mozzarella & tomato on sticks

DearieMeWhatsUp · 02/07/2022 14:58

Still the same, but we keep on!

Lunch was smoked mackerel salad and tonight will be chicken fajitas without the wrap, with beansprouts, mushrooms and peppers and cheese.

Need to up my water intake considerably I think! Hope everyone is doing well

venusandmars · 03/07/2022 11:26

@Lougle mini meatballs with a yougurt and cucmber dip; celery and blue cheese dip; sausages with a home-made tomato and veg dip; cheese and almond muffins with smoked salmon and cream cheese... Just make sure you pile your own plate with all the low carb goodies before everyone else decides they're the best things there, and leaves you with the pizza and crisps! Grin

Made one of my favourite fish dishes last night: a variation on Delia's Californian fish. Lemon sole, topped with mix of mayonnaise, capers, finely chopped gherkins, finely chopped corriander, squeeze of lime juice. Spread the mixture over the fish, top with grated cheese (and breadcrumbs for the others). Bake in the oven. So delicious and it keeps the sole really soft and delicate. Had with oven roasted broccoli and cauliflower.

Lunch today is slc bread, topped with buttery spinach, smoked salmon, a poached egg and 'cheats' hollandaise - mayonnaise with a tsp dijon mustard, sqeeze of lemon juice, chopped chives, sprinkle of smoked paprika.

BIWI · 03/07/2022 11:50

That fish dish sounds lovely @venusandmars. I'm definitely going to try that.

Not a brilliant weekend as went to a 50th but not bad overall. 18k steps from dancing hopefully stemmed some damage Grin

Lougle · 04/07/2022 11:25

@SummerSazz 18,000 steps is impressive!

I weighed this morning and 1.7lbs off this week, which is pleasing!

Ollieharriet · 04/07/2022 11:26

Thanks everyone for the support. Lost 1st 4lbs overall and feeling really good. Clothes fit better and whole new wardrobe available to me now that haven't fit in 3 years. I'll definitely sign up again in August after my hols.

Pleaseandthankyou · 04/07/2022 13:13

Back on bootcamp light this morning. I have spent a couple of weeks in the land of carbs and could not resist. In my defence everything was worth the calories and the pounds gained. No breakfast today, scrambled eggs with butter for lunch. Afraid to stand on the scales so I will give it a week. Glad of the support on this thread. Off to have a large glass of water before getting back to work.

SummerSazz · 07/07/2022 08:12

How's everyone doing?

I'm bobbing along at 10.10/10.11. Need a real push to try and get to 10 1/2 which is my goal weight. I've started using my arm weights on dog walks to try and tone my arms but need to do some Pilates etc for my stomach/legs before holiday!!

Water is the main focus for today!!
