This thread is about the most often asked questions on Bootcamp, and/or about low carbing.

Each post will deal with a separate question. If there's a question you have or often see, PM me with it and I'll write a post about that.

Not annoying me at all! Grin

Ask away about anything you need to know, share or are worried about. That's what these threads are for.

I’ve seen a few times on these threads that we should cook with butter and coconut oil rather than olive oil and other cooking oils. I’ve always cooked with extra virgin olive oil for most foods (sometimes butter) as I thought it one of the purest and healthiest cooking oils. What is the reason for not using it?

BIWI · 19/01/2022 13:00

I think that's a bit of a myth - I always cook with EVOO. It's to do with the smoking point.

A piece here that explains it

... I should also say that the instructions for my deep fat fryer state that olive oil shouldn't used for deep fat frying

Ok, thank you. I must have misread or misunderstood. Good to know it has the green light!

Can I ask a question here ( & I have googled - but just want to be clear ) - & I am new so apologies if I have missed something here I have tried to catch up but just if no one minds - What is the actual importance of drinking so much water. One google came up with carbs keep more water so fewer of them you need to drink more water because protein etc will not hydrate you so much. I am getting through about 2 L( only been on this since Monday ) more than that seems a harder thing to do - but I assume becomes easier as time goes on. - although what I have done is buy a pack of 250 ml bottles so I can carry them about and drink more. I have always when had a headache, thought "drink more water" and see if that helps - usually it does.

Does the amount of water affect weight loss or is it just the "right thing to do"

My apologies if I have missed a post and everyone else knows this.
@BIWI - please don't tell me off if I have missed something here - it is just so obvious that Rule 1 is Drink More Water - just trying to understand the reason

Thank you all

@BasiliskStare if you read this thread, you'll see that points 14-17 are all about water!!!

Ah got it @BIWI - I didn't RTFT - but because I thought I was posting on the other one - sheer inpetitude from me . Thank you - all questions answered. I should say the bottles I have bout are 500ml no 250 & today I think I am drinking more by just carrying one around with me.

Thank you

BIWI · 29/07/2022 18:35

Thank you @BIWI - it was my incompetence so thank you for being graceful - I am sure I warranted a deep sigh .
Thank you for what you do on this as I am new to it - let us see what Monday's weigh in brings but starting to get to grips with it.

Basilisk x
