Morning all. Beautiful sunny day here - I hope it's the same for all of us.

Here's the spreadsheet, as ever

So only two more weeks to go. Still time to drop a couple of pesky pounds - perhaps more if you're strict - perhaps return to strict Bootcamp for this last fortnight?

Remember this week's challenge is to find/post recipes for your best salads. (Not allowing @venusandmars to post hers Wink)

Good luck everyone Flowers

Well done to us all!

I'm really exhausted, tbh. Everything very stressful with DD2's education, fighting the LA.

B - Greek yoghurt, clotted cream, blueberries
L - salad (rocket, watercress etc., Olives, baby plum tomatoes, chicken thigh).
D - omelette with leeks, peppers, tomatoes, bacon, cheddar.

Fluids: 2 cups of tea. 7 X 750ml water.

IveNeverTriedThisBefore · 17/06/2022 22:40

Well done @FinallyHere that is impressive non scale victory. That is amazing!

Enjoying my rose here with sq of dark choc (I can never manage more that 1 sq)

I made a mayonnaise today to go with the salad. I am very impressed with myself.. it has always seemed something too complicated to bother with

250ml olive oil
1 egg
2 tsp cider vinegar
1 tsp wholegrain mustard
1/2 clove garlic
S&P

Put everything in a tall thin container. Put a stick blender at the bottom of the container. Whizz it for 10-20s until it starts to emulsify/ look white at the bottom then slowly move the blender up through the mixture and when you reach the top pulse up and down until it all comes together - et voila - mayonnaise!

I left out the mustard and added lemon zest, a little lemon juice and basil leaves instead, it was delish. And so easy.

My sister did think it was a bit too garlicky though... wasn't for me but if you are not keen on garlic then maybe leave out

prettybird · 17/06/2022 23:06

I transgressed badly today Blush because I was at home, both bored and dealing with a stressful issue Sad Posting here for accountability.

Tomorrow is a new day Smile - but I'm only going to have lost a few pounds this boot camp.

comfortablyfrumpy · 17/06/2022 23:30

B: big fat mushrooms scrambled egg and ham
L: cheese salad
D: Smoked mackerel salad (too hot to cook).

I have treated myself to some pinot grigio this evening and of course got the munchies but avoided crisps and went for garlicky cheese and some olives, so feeling positively saintly Grin

APerfectlyGoodName · 17/06/2022 23:38

B. Egg spinach smoked salmon hollandaise. Creamy coffee.
L. Chicken, bacon, coleslaw - fridge pickings.
D. Burger, green beans, broccoli (cooked with butter)
S. Herb tea with chocolate.

Has anyone anything fun planned? I'm doing a 90k charity cycle Saturday. Hopefully the sun will shine and the wind at our backs!
Happy weekend all.

Well done Lougle. Nevertriedthis - your food sounds yum. Even your leftovers.

Lougle · 18/06/2022 07:12

Wow @APerfectlyGoodName a 90k bike ride is impressive!!

I've reached the 1st mark today (well 1st ½lb, to be precise!), so that's pretty cool!!

BIWI · 18/06/2022 07:35

@Lucienandjean swift weight gain like that isn't fat, and nor is it just water. Basically when you go from low carb to high carb, you're re-filling your glycogen stores - that's where your body stores any glucose it can't use immediately, in your liver and muscles. So once you revert back to low carbing, you use up that excess pretty quickly. It's only if you keep going with the carbs that there will be too much glucose to be stored as glycogen, and it will become fat.

Well the scales are showing 10 stone 4 ounces, so I'm taking that at me hitting my latest goal. 🎉
Started low carbing almost 8 weeks ago, weighing 11 stone 6 lbs and had losses, small gains and stayed the sames.
I set mini goal along the way so things seemed more achievable.
Have attached my progress to show that despite ups and downs, sticking to this way of eating is bringing my weight steadily down.

So is the extra weight glycogen then? I always thought it was water retention, like when you first start low-carb eating and the water weight comes off in the first week or two.

Baystard · 18/06/2022 09:38

I also transgressed yesterday after a good week.

Alcohol is definitely a trigger for me, and possibly also the sugar in the light tonic water. I don't like it with soda water and prefer just to abstain but DH hasn't really got the message and last night he'd made me a large G&T when he saw my car pull up after work. I know I didn't need to drink it but he thought he was doing a nice thing and once I'd started it...

I keep a few nice empty gin bottles (in theory for making sloe gin but I never get round to it), seriously considering putting water in them, quietly swapping with the real ones, and telling DH that fizzy water is amazing with gin. Then I could graciously accept and enjoy a drink when he makes it (or surprises me with it). Am I mad? I've told him that I've noticed alcohol gives me terrible indigestion but then I obviously enjoy the drink he makes me (and often happily accept a second) so I don't think he really takes me too seriously. Previously I was a bit of a gin enthusiast and thought it was great when he appeared at my side at 5pm on a Friday with a nice craft gin and I don't want to hurt his feelings.

BIWI · 18/06/2022 10:18

Brilliant progress @Justmuddlingalong Flowers

@Baystard I get you - those so-called 'light' tonics are anything but. The only way to go completely carb-free means Slimline, which - of course - is all artificial sweeteners.

How about rum and soda? A golden rum, like Mount Gay Eclipse, with lots of fresh lime and ice, topped up with soda. Takes me straight back to being in Barbados!

prettybird · 18/06/2022 11:06

I can just about thole a gin with soda water with a slice of lime.

Or if you are a gin aficionado you could add extras that complement the aromatics - eg a blackberry and a sprig of Rosemary (one lovely gin that I remember having).

prettybird · 18/06/2022 14:50

@BIWI - thanks for your PM. You got a bit of a rant/letting off steam from me in reply but not sure if the broken MN PM system actually sent it as I can't see my reply Confused

BIWI · 18/06/2022 14:52

No PM received @prettybird! (Never mind - hopefully you got it off your chest!)

So, so tired.

B - Greek yoghurt, clotted cream, blueberries and raspberries (small amount of each).
L - Salad with tomatoes, goats cheese and olives
D - cauliflower cheese and 2 chipolata sausages.

2 cups of tea. 4l water.

BIWI · 18/06/2022 20:24

What's up @Lougle?

OP posts:
Lougle · 18/06/2022 20:53

Just not sleeping well and lots of stressful stuff with my kids and my parents. Feels like I'm burning the candle at both ends even though I'm going to bed at a sensible time.

IveNeverTriedThisBefore · 18/06/2022 21:17

Hi all, just checking in. We'll done to everyone whos achieving their goals either weight or or 90k cycle, ymthats amazing

If till lunch
L: Went to greek restaurant, had garlic prawns with butter and salad to start then salmon with grilled veg and some tzatziki
D: still quite full, so we got some bits from m&s - cured meats, cheeses, olives, tomatoes, avo and some of my mayo

Didn't do as well on my water today for the first day since I started, so trying to catch up before I go to bed

APerfectlyGoodName · 18/06/2022 21:55

Right. Cycle done. 91 k , in 4 hours.
Food wise - to be forgotten!
Hopefully a LCHF day tomorrow will produce a good scale result Monday

ditavonteesed · 19/06/2022 07:07

This is my weight graph for this week. I'm actually starting to get really mad with it. I can take the only dropping a little bit as I know I've been working out but it jumps right back up there every few days.

I'm not sure what I need to change up.

I got to 11 stone before and I was really happy with that. Was happy to accept 11 4 ish but it's just crept up this year.

I really need to get back to 11 4 and I def need it to stop creeping up. I have bought too many clothes 😉
I've been really strict this week, plus done 20,000 steps most days and been to the gym 3 times including a serious pt session.

Walk and gym this morning. Going for a curry tonight which will be lovely.

Sorry your struggling to sleep @Lougle sounds like life is very full on right now.

Lougle · 19/06/2022 09:02

@ditavonteesed I'd be frustrated as well, I think. But I went through a bit of a flip flopping stage then moved down from there. Do you think you might be building muscle mass? Is your body shape changing?

Lougle · 19/06/2022 09:04

What does your graph look like from the start of bootcamp to now?

ditavonteesed · 19/06/2022 10:25

That's sort of from the start of boot camp. Looking back I got back to 11 4 at the end of feb which is I think when I did an egg fast. Maybe egg fast time again. I guess I must be changing body composition but I still have enough spare to be going down as well.

OK @ditavonteesed - you know the drill!

List out for me the food/drinks you have had over the last 3-4 days, and let's see if there's something I can help with.
