BIWI · 11/04/2021 20:54

Welcome everyone!

Here, as ever, is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness created and lovingly managed by the wonderful @AthelstaneTheUnready

Hopefully you should find that you're already on the spreadsheet - but if not, just add your name to the bottom of the list. Don't try to insert it in the right alphabetical place - Athelstane will do that for you. And don't touch the blue cells or try to enter any other data or comments!

For those that are new, each week I'll start a new chat thread, on Monday, and we'll start off with recording our weight.

However

You don't have to use your weight to measure your progress - and you don't have to be on the spreadsheet if you don't want to be. Instead, take your measurements each week (bust/upper arms/waist/hips/thighs), or find an item of clothing that's just too tight/small right now, and keep trying it on each week.

The rules of Bootcamp are on the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet - but here's a quick summary of the rules for the first two weeks:

  1. Eat three meals a day
  2. Avoid processed foods
  3. Eat lots of fat
  4. Make sure you're eating vegetables and salad with your food
  5. Be careful about dairy, apart from butter which is unlimited
  6. You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water a day
  7. No alcohol
  8. No fruit
  9. No nuts/seeds
10. No sugar/artificial sweeteners

Make sure you have a really good read of the spreadsheet for the full detail of the rules. Also, check out the tabs at the bottom - there's a huge amount of information that will really help you, especially if you're new to low carbing/Bootcamp.

There's also a thread here of FAQs which should be helpful.

Some thread etiquette

The thread will move really quickly - especially at the beginning.

But please take the time to read everyone's posts, rather than just plopping on with your own comments/thoughts/questions. It's very frustrating when someone comes on to the thread to ask a question that's been posed and answered already!

Don't lurk!

I know that not everyone is confident about posting - and also that there are a lot of posters who are regular Bootcampers, and who know other Bootcampers. Please don't think this is a cliquey thread. It couldn't be further from the truth!

Everyone's views and experiences are welcome and valid, so jump in and post.

Any questions, please just post. Or PM me. There's always someone here who can help - and if I or they can't, then we can always find someone who can!

Above all, very good luck to everyone.

I very much hope that by the time we come to the end of these ten weeks, that we really are (as a country) completely ready to leave Lockdown well behind.

Wishing everyone all the luck Flowers

@BIWI sorry to be a pain but spreadsheet is insisting I require permission to access? The last one worked fine for me so not sure what I’m doing wrong.

Just weighed, another 2lbs off so that’s a total of 31lbs in 13 weeks of bootcamping. Very pleased. NSV I’m wearing my first size 14 (high waisted) jeans in years!!! Still have 67lbs to go but I WILL get there!!

TeddingtonTrashbag · 12/04/2021 08:20

Hi -please may I join?
Have put on a stone since the first lockdown. Didn’t wear summer dresses last year (teacher so was remote working that term) do didn’t notice the weight piling on...Ditto nearly all of the Spring term.
Desperate to be able to wear dresses when we go back next week.
Have previously been slim so s shock to discover that I am BMI 25 so officially overweight and waist size 35 (should be max 33, but was previously 29-30) ☹️
Started low carbing at the beginning of Easter holidays 24 March drinking lots of water snd exercising -open air pool opened two weeks ago so going nearly every day and bought steps watch too.
When I dm in school we have free full English breakfasts and lovely lunches so need to kickstart good habit now.

Timetobuckup · 12/04/2021 08:24

@nowlook I'm not sure I can face it without sweetener and I have never found a soya milk I didn't hate sadly. However I haven't tried any for over 10 years so maybe I need to try again.

We have got bloody snow here in West Sussex which was a bit of a shocker to wake up to this morning.

Doilooklikeatourist · 12/04/2021 08:24

Morning all , here we go again !
Carb creeper here too , 3 lb on since end of last Bootcamp
Eggs for breakfast
Greek type salad for lunch ( easy on the tomatoes )
And chicken Freddy for dinner ( thanks @nowlook for the reminder )
Lots of water ( I’ve a 2 litre bottle of sparkling water in the fridge 17p from Tesco . I’m classy , me )
I aim to drink a litre of tap water by 9am ( 3 glasses , I use the same shape every day , and it’s 3 glasses to a litre , I measured)

VeryLittleOwl · 12/04/2021 08:26

Morning. Cathy Twat has been parked in my spare room since the last boot camp and I've put on 6lbs in a fornight. I'm due to start lambing next week and I'm not sure how BC-compatible it's going to be - I've only got 15 of my own to do, but I'm also helping at a friend's farm where we have 800 to get through, so it's non-stop and the only place I can have a wee is al fresco into a drain at the back of a shed, which doesn't exactly encourage water, water, water! There's also sugary stuff EVERYWHERE and the only fridge is stuffed full of sheep-related things so I'm limited in what I can take for lunch. On the plus side, I'll be doing about 20k steps a day :)

I'm hoping for a week 1 whoosh and then I'd like to lose 7lbs on top of whatever that is. I'm 18lbs away from my initial goal weight at the moment.

Breakfast: leftover Cheeseburger Pie
Lunch: Homemade broccoli soup
Supper: Chilli with FLGV

prettybird · 12/04/2021 08:26

@MrsOmelette - see above from @AthelstaneTheUnready (a couple of posts before yours) She has had to produce a new spreadsheet and link because someone added a comment Sad

It's a particular bummer that this has happened already, as it mucks up BIWI's link in the Opening Post but at least the message can be repeated again : Don't add comments as your real name will be displayed. Follow the instructions and just put your weight into the appropriate cell

Pleaseandthankyou · 12/04/2021 08:26

I have put on 2lbs since the last boot camp. I now have 7lbs to lose to get under 25bmi. I don’t care how slowly it goes down as long as it doesn’t go up. Good luck to everyone. There is great support on these threads. Thanks BIWI. Auntie Fat 😀

PineappleSunglasses · 12/04/2021 08:33

Morning all, just checking in for my second ever bootcamp. I've managed to stay around the same as where I ended up last time. I'm so hopeful to get below 10st by the end of this bootcamp.

Good luck to everyone x

Moonswimmer · 12/04/2021 08:33

Two years since my last bootcamp, where I made it all the way down from morbidly obese to overweight. Guess where I am starting today? Yup - right back up there. I’ve got a family celebration event in six weeks, so want to look a little better for that, and then onwards and downwards from there.

Black coffee and a pint of water so far, and FF Greek yoghurt standing by for breakfast in a bit.

venusandmars · 12/04/2021 08:35

@Timetobuckup why no coffee? I start the day with water, while I'm waiting for the kettle to boil, then a cup of rooibos tea, then coffee with cream to accompany my breakfast.

I had good success on the last BC and would love to see a bit more of the same this time round. Heading towards my 60th birthday in the summer and really want to enter the next decade feeling fit and healthy (which I do on this woe). However... there's a lot going on over the next 10 weeks, dh has his 60th, dh retires, holiday on a remote Scottish island where there is likely to be a distinct lack of avocados and celeriac, and a week of sailing with friends where the communal food will be based around bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, lentil, beans - hearty stuff for chilly weather. I provide 2 meals, so that's OK, I can have eggs for breakfast, and I'll just have to navigate round whatever else is dished up and avoid the crisps, gin and wine that will be provided in copious amounts

All in all it will be a challenging bootcamp so even more incentive to really stick to the rules when I can, and drink all the water.

Food today:
B - boiled egg mashed with butter, coffee with cream
L - ham and cheese salad with mayo
D - chicken, broccoli, carrot, fried mushrooms, red cabbage

MrsOmelette · 12/04/2021 08:35

@prettybird argh thanks, I read the whole thread at 6am but forgot to check before posting query. Apologies @biwi have definitely been a nuisance!

Doilooklikeatourist · 12/04/2021 08:35

@Timetobuckup if you don’t like black coffee ( I do , luckily ) I don’t remember who suggested it on the previous Bootcamp , but try adding salt to the coffee
Sounds like madness , but it apparently works

poorbuthappy · 12/04/2021 08:44

Good morning

I am down 16lb over the last 2 bootcamps and I'm keeping it off which is the main thing!
Would like a few more lbs just to hit the 20lb mark and then have a proper look at maintaining.
Good luck to the newbies - follow the rules otherwise BIWI will get the stick out. Grin
Seriously - this is the only WOE which I don't fall off the wagon because I am so satisfied all the time. I am a cheese monster so this is the perfect for me!
Here's to a good first week everyone!

ListenLinda · 12/04/2021 08:44

Greek yogurt is a go. For anyone who shops at Aldi, the Brooklea one is one of the best I’ve had.
On my second cup of coffee but that will be it for the day then because WATER!
Eggs and broccoli for lunch, probably make it into an omlette.
Chicken thighs and salad for tea as DH is on a late.

Mimosa1 · 12/04/2021 08:46

Morning everyone, starting this BC 3kg higher than the end of last one - in a couple of weeks! But I'm fully committed to this BC and hopefully some of that is water weight. Still 2kg down from the beginning of Jan and holding onto that!

TeddingtonTrashbag · 12/04/2021 08:51

Cannot add my name into the spreadsheet so will try later on the laptop. Inadvertently added a comment -sorry!!- but gave deleted that
Already inspired by the lovely meal ideas!
Trying to swap peppermint tea fir PG tips.
Like the idea of adding salt to coffee idea...
Just saw a post about tomatoes -newbie here -are they too carby?

devoncreamtea · 12/04/2021 08:56

Another one with spreadsheet requesting permission. I have sheets downloaded and it was fine last BC...?
165.4 this morning.

Good luck for first days everyone!

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 12/04/2021 08:57

Good morning campers! (Bing bong bing).

Sorry to see that Cathy Twat has been messing others around too. What a malign influence that woman is.

I'm four pounds up from my end-of-boot camp weight, but still seven pounds down overall.

No carb creep here: more of a carb carnival.

I can't remember who said upthread that they joined WW at 11, but I was put on a diet (by my grandmother Angry) at about that age. This thread is all about support Thanks

Timetobuckup · 12/04/2021 09:00

It is more the avoiding sweetener thing with my coffee that has stopped me having it. I didn't want to bugger up so early in the day.

prettybird · 12/04/2021 09:01

@TeddingtonTrashbag and @devoncreamtea - Athelstane has already produced a new spreadsheet because of the comment - link to the new one in her post at c8am.

JimmyJabs · 12/04/2021 09:03

I should probably be able to work it out, but I can't so... who's Cathy Twat?

Ifeelmuchlessfat · 12/04/2021 09:03

Morning all

Cathy Twat may have been in VeryLittleOwl’s spare room but she definitely popped over to mine for the weekend - I’m 6 lbs (!!) heavier today than I was on Friday so I’m going to weigh in tomorrow as I think it’ll be an unrealistic loss for the week if I go with today’s weight on the spreadsheet... Although not quite as impressive as @oscarandelliesdad Grin

Also booked into gym later which I’m looking forward to weirdly.

Nice to be back in the saddle.

Xiaohei · 12/04/2021 09:05

1st boot camp. Black coffee, 2x fried eggs and mushrooms- this couldn’t have come at a better time. Good luck everyone

randomrandomium · 12/04/2021 09:08

Morning and good luck everyone! I gave up alcohol 10 months ago and hoped the weight would drop off, but unfortunately seem to have replaced the booze with sweets and crisps BlushLooking forward to ditching the carbs with you all.

prettybird · 12/04/2021 09:09

@JimmyJabs

I should probably be able to work it out, but I can't so... who's Cathy Twat?
Cathy Twat was a typo from "Carby Twat" which (who? Wink) has stuck and gets blamed for all sorts of indiscretions Grin
