Morning all. Sorry for the late start to the thread, but I slept in. Then hungry cats had to be fed before I could deal with this!

Anyway here's the spreadsheet for its penultimate outing

Hopefully all good news to report - but never fear, if last week hasn't been great, you still have a few days left to sort that.

Looks like it's going to be a more settled week weather-wise, and hopefully we really will be seeing more and more signs of spring to cheer us all up.

Here's to a great last week Flowers

@Oneborneverydecade

We have someone here cleaning our oven. He seemed surprised to learn that it's only 2.5 yrs old and suggested we must use it a lot. I don't know whether to feel ashamed or oddly proud - yes, yes we do use our oven daily.
When we had our oven cleaned, it was in such a state that I told the chap we'd just moved in and it was included in the sale. Blush

👍 it’s just such an important point, I wanted to make it clear that you don’t need to count calories.

As to eating to satiety, I consciously taught myself to slow down toward the second half of every meal. I start to think, have I had enough? If I don’t want everything, I feel no need to finish everything - it can go into the fridge and it will be there later if I need it.

If you started out having a three egg omelette every day for breakfast/lunch, for example, you probably don’t actually need that at this stage of BC. So take one out and add extra veg in. And so on for other meals.

As @GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal said about fasting - it’s fine if that’s what your body naturally tells you (I don’t usually eat breakfast), but on the days where you find yourself hungry have something.

It’s the same the other way around. On some days I don’t have breakfast or lunch for example. It’s not often, tbf. But here and there I don’t feel like having lunch. So I don’t. That’s what listening to your body means - don’t get into rigid habits.

Thank you all for the congratulations, I am feeling quite pleased with myself , although as I posted at the end of last week's thread, I was actually 2lbs lighter yesterday morning compared to today. Interesting that you mention the SLC bread @BIWI as I was thinking about what I ate yesterday and in the context of what could have caused the big overnight gain.

Obviously I know it might not be food, but I had a bacon sandwich yesterday on SLC toast. I have the loaf in the freezer but don't eat it regularly, I think this is the third time I've had it since the start of bootcamp. That's the only thing I ate yesterday which was out of the ordinary for me. Lunch was the bacon sandwich with some avocado coleslaw (unpleasant, I can't recommend) and dinner was chicken stuffed with spinach and feta (lovely, will post on recipe thread) with ratatouille. No snacks.

It could also be the water, I only had 3.25 litres yesterday when I normally have 4. I will keep an eye on it next time I have the bread.

Sorry to those who haven't lost as much as they'd hoped. @nowlook I hadn't realised that you weren't weighing yourself, that's incredibly restrained!

KOKO everyone. Have a good Monday!

BIWI · 22/03/2021 12:16

@FusionChefGeoff

Maybe it's the psychological trick that you are all coming to the 'end' and I keep forgetting I'm only really just starting!!

Don't forget, when we get to the end of the week, I will start another thread for us all to keep chatting. So there will always be someone here to support you, or for you to just rant at! Grin

It sounds to me like you've been dealing with some very difficult addiction/dysfunctions over the years, so it's important that you find something that works for you - it does sound like this might be it, if you're enjoying your food and feeling good. Fingers crossed!

... oh and I think you'll find that a lot of us are nowhere near 'the end'! Just the end of this Bootcamp.

Just inspired by all of you. Well done, you've done amazing, I so admire the willpower.

I've put on a stone in lockdown and today is my first day doing something about it so here for inspiration!

PineappleSunglasses · 22/03/2021 12:23

Thanks for the mention @BIWI and massive thank you to you and all the other posters who have contributed so much to bootcamp. I am just over 20lbs down from my starting weight and I am delighted with that, I still have a bit to go so will be on the next one too!

My family have commented on my willpower but genuinely on this WOE I have lost interest in sweet foods, I tried a little 70% chocolate the other day and it tasted awful, I'm hoping this will help me with maintenance when I make it to that stage.

Good luck to all in the final week!

nowlook · 22/03/2021 12:25

Oh, no, no, no @ouchmyfeet...

I should explain for anyone thinking I am either disciplined or restrained that I am plainly neither. I am a big slightly less fat coward. I knew that I had put so much weight on during lockdown(s) that the number on the scale 10 weeks ago would have sent me into a spin. I'd have reacted in one of two ways: either I would have spiralled into depression, or I would have tried to find an unhealthy quick fix.

There's genuinely nothing admirable about it. Next BC, I'll be on the spreadsheet from day 1 and every bit as brave as the rest of you Flowers

Agree with this - I am on bootcamp for the long haul Smile
ListenLinda · 22/03/2021 12:33

Morning all!
Hectic morning in the Linda household, so completely forgot to weigh first thing. Will do tomorrow morning and update the spreadsheet.
Had my greek yog for breakfast, sausage egg & sprouts for lunch.
DH is on a late so chicken thighs and salad for tea tonight.
2L of water down already.

Well done on all the fab results this week and Flowers for those who are disappointed today.

The sun is shining here in West Yorkshire and i have a full line of washing out! Have a great day everyone Grin

FusionChefGeoff · 22/03/2021 12:47

So here's a very standard lunch

Lettuce, cucumber, 3 cherry toms, bit of red pepper, hm vinaigrette, 3 asparagus fried in butter, 1/2 pack prawns in Mayo, hm coleslaw, spoon of leftover tuna Mayo, 1/2 avocado, drizzle of my new fancy lemon and dill oil.

I'm nicely hungry but not starving.

Replying to my own comment as I just remembered I had a (low carb) beer yesterday. That'll be it 🤦‍♀️
1stMrsF · 22/03/2021 13:53

I have theoretically STS but that is much lower than earlier this week, so I'll certainly take that. Would really like to get back to the lowest weight I've recorded for this BC by the end of this week, which would be a 10lb loss, but I'm also KOKO with perhaps a little Easter gap beyond that. I still have some way to go.

@StuntNun I'm sure this is too late for you, but will post anyway for others' info that Wagamama are always happy to substitute veg for noodles in their fried noodle dishes so I'm sure would be the same for ramen. I usually have the teryaki steak (no)soba. I also eat the stir fried veg when I'm there to add even more veg (the sauce is quite sweet but there's very little of it) and the bang bang cauliflower is good. The naked katsu without the rice could be a good option too?

L - lovely chef did me a Chicken Pie without the Pie, and I brought some leftover vegetables from yesterday's roast to go with.
Still thinking about dinner. I have a dentist appointment to fix a chipped tooth this afternoon and not sure what I will feel like eating afterwards. Not doing very well with water, off to fill my bottle now...

Welcome @Happymenu Star

BIWI · 22/03/2021 14:43

@1stMrsF I was going to suggest the bang bang cauliflower as well - but their nutritional info shows that one serving of that is a staggering 39.85g carbs! Shock

OP posts:
1stMrsF · 22/03/2021 14:51

@BIWI ShockI thought I'd checked last time I went there but clearly not! I'm surprised I don't remember it being either battered or sweet. I'll avoid it next time!

BustleInYourHedgerow · 22/03/2021 15:19

Hi everyone. Have gained a pound this week (week 6 for me) after sts the previous two weeks. Was really hoping for a loss this week to keep me going. I'm not going to throw in the towel as i know that will send me into a spiral of eating bread and sugar but I'm feeling down about it. I two glasses of wine on Friday. I only really have a drink twice a month and I don't feel ready to give that up at the moment. I'm possibly having cream a little too much so will cut way back on that. Will KOKO and see where it gets me.

Congratulations to all those who have lost, and commiserations to those who haven't.

ChristMyArse · 22/03/2021 15:45

1.4 on for me. Was a very carby twat after a horrible hospital visit last week and boy have I paid for it. Was 5lb on so gradually pulling it back. It's put me off doing it again for sure!!!

StuntNun · 22/03/2021 15:46

Bustle I think KOKO is definitely the best idea. Just give it time before making any changes.

My Wagamama's lunch was delicious, thanks for all the recommendations. They couldn't make any changes so I had miso soup, japanese pickles, the squid someone upthread suggested - no batter so not carby! I did have the bang bang cauliflower even though it's carby because it has sweet chilli sauce. None of my family eat cauliflower so it's a bit of a treat food for me. Anyway I had a lovely lunch out with my friend that I haven't been able to see for months and I feel all the better for having the social interaction.

prettybird · 22/03/2021 16:12

Sounds like you had a deservedly good time Stuntnun Smile What earrings did you wear? Wink

My earrings today are a pair I inherited from my mum: amber drops set in silver. They're solid enough pieces of silver that they've got hallmarks on them Shock

NotwatchingSpooks · 22/03/2021 16:49

@nowlook, lying to the oven man - made me laugh

I’m a pound down finally.

Can’t believe it’s the last week of this bootcamp

venusandmars · 22/03/2021 16:56

@FusionChefGeoff We're not coming to an end really - this thread will continue until the next bootcamp starts, so you'll still find plenty of support. Plus for many of us this is just our way of life and way of eating. It's not a fad diet that runs for a period and then stops.

Plus where would I be without the inspiration for new recipes, reminding me of old favourites, and all the chat about food. I know this is bootcamp but it's the best foodie forum I've ever been on Grin. And I would never in a month of Sundays look at or post on the mn 'Style and Beauty' topic. However, last year I joined Shag's style tutorial, and now I am the proud owner of an eyebrow pencil Shock Grin

PS I have also purchased 2 smaller plates. I have a lean athletic dh, who I force feed with a mountain of carbs and my dinner plate looks half empty in comparison. dh thought I'd bought them from the dgc Smile

StuntNun · 22/03/2021 17:44

Not sure my phone is up to getting a decent photo Prettybird but they're silver and Swarovski ribbons that my DM bought for me.

Oneborn my oven is disgusting somewhat grubby too because we cook so much fatty meat in it. Blush I should buy shares in Mr Muscle I use so much oven cleaner.

Fusion five weeks isn't really any time in terms of adapting to eating low carb high fat. It takes months to completely adapt. For example one long-term change is that your glycogen stores partially replenish again. This makes exercise easier as you have ready access to glucose, and also means having a carby meal has less of an effect on your weight than during the first couple of months. Since you have a history of disordered eating there could well be a healing process required to get back to metabolic health. If you want to lose weight and keep it off then you will need to stay relatively low carb for life but there are several different ways to manage weight maintenance depending on your tastes and preferences. If you're really worried about portion sizes then you could try logging your food in My Fitness Pal for three days to get a good idea of your calorie intake and macros. It's not unusual for people to stall their weight loss by eating too few calories rather than too any. But if you think logging your food might be triggering then I'd say KOKO for now and reassess at the start of the next Bootcamp.

My water bottle smashed while I was out today. It was a glass one and the handle came off the lid so it fell to the ground. Is it worth investing in one of the Chilly bottles or are the similar insulated stainless steel ones just as good despite being half the price instead?

Midlife — 40lbs is indeed something to be proud of. Very well done.

Doilooklikeatourist that sky is something to behold. Thanks for making it part of my day.

BIWI—sorry if this is too serious, but I believe it’s time to address the “epic Cathy Twat Attack” against MilesJupp and am taking the decision—one I don’t take lightly—of asking you to ban CathyTwat from this group. She is bullying everyone and has no place here.
