Morning all. Sorry for the late start to the thread, but I slept in. Then hungry cats had to be fed before I could deal with this!

Anyway here's the spreadsheet for its penultimate outing

Hopefully all good news to report - but never fear, if last week hasn't been great, you still have a few days left to sort that.

Looks like it's going to be a more settled week weather-wise, and hopefully we really will be seeing more and more signs of spring to cheer us all up.

Here's to a great last week Flowers

@prettybird

....if only! Grin

We need to get a "new" car (the mechanic at the great wee garage we go to is refusing to do expensive work on our car as he says it's not worth spending money on (it made it through its MOT last September ish but he didn't think it would...) but we're waiting on either dh to get his share of his mother's estate or for me to get my lump sum from my ICI pension (but I only sent the forms off last week Blush) - whichever comes first. Shock

Is she deceased pretty, or have you wandered over from a grabby aibu thread? Grin

(sorry for your loss)

Your earrings stress me out! I've lost count of how many times you've misplaced one and found it again Grin

In the world of nowlook, I have finally finished painting in the nick of time for new carpet tomorrow. What with that and work, I feel quite done in.

Am also mildly irritated by work cheeky fuckery today. Had a business referral from a former client. Chaps wants to sell his business. Although I realised that the potential transaction wouldn't justify my justifiably exhorbitant fee, I was happy to give him some quite specific (to the industry) ideas about what it would be worth and who might buy it . Wow, says he. Amazing. Could you spare half an hour to chat through on the phone? Sure, says I. I'm all heart. Not only did the cheeky fucker fail to attend the call (not half an hour after arranging it), but he has neither apologised nor contacted me at all since. Angry No more favours from me until the next time

Of greater relevance to the thread, I'm whooshing, which is nice.

Ifeelmuchlessfat · 25/03/2021 20:45

Hi all, just popped in to say hi. I haven’t posted much if at all during this bootcamp but I have just about kept up with most of your posts. Very well done to those of you who have done so well, especially you Ouch, great losses. Lovely to see the earring posts too.
This hasn’t been a great camp for me - more consolation really rather than loss. I did lose a bit but had to go away for a couple of days for a funeral and then i drank too much for three nights rather than one, ate a packet of kettle chips blah blah blah and surprise surprise it went back on. Alcohol will always be my nemesis.
Sort of lost my mojo exercise-wise too, so just need to make sure that I’m not too much of a twat over Easter and start again with renewed energy in April. Having the gyms and pools open will help.

Anyway just want to wish you all well for the last few days and final weigh in. KOKO.

prettybird · 25/03/2021 20:53

MIL died in November 2019. She was a cow SadAngry (long story and dh is still working through the damage that she did over the years he's been in counselling for over 3 years ). The positive about her death is that we're now back in contact with an estranged sister (who I'd never met) who turns out to be lovely (she went NC over 30 years ago to "save" herself) but that's also caused complications as she'd been cut out of the will (only 4 siblings mentioned, despite there being 5) - which isn't actually possible in Scotland Confused. Plus some financial shenanigans, so what should have been a straightforward distribution is taking time Sad

We have plans for a new bathroom - with a dedicated place for the scales Grin

RagzReturnsRebooted · 25/03/2021 21:19

@cheeseisthebest

Where can I get biofreeze from?
Amazon. Probably other places too, but that's where I get mine.
Justcallmecaptainobvious · 25/03/2021 21:20

@cheeseisthebest as a form of self-care, I highly recommend getting yourself a decent chair and desk to work from home. Other things will ease the backache, but it’ll come back as long as the problem remains. If you can spare £80 you can get a decent chair on amazon (or slightly less good ones around £50), pair that with a £20 laptop stand to get that at the right height.

@prettybird I gasped when you found the earring. I’m not sure whether that’s indicative of the quality of your story telling or the total lack of excitement in my life at the moment!

No exciting food here today. Eggs and veg, heck sausages and veg, chicken (was meant to be pork but nothing in my freezer is labelled...) and veg.

For tomorrow I have some cod steaks. Any advice on how to make them exciting?

cheeseisthebest · 25/03/2021 21:38

I've brought my daughters office chair downstairs, going to try that tomorrow! I use our dining room table but round it is a high sort of corner sofa which is no good for my back at all. Havent got anywhere to put a desk unfortunately.

venusandmars · 25/03/2021 22:16

@cheeseisthebest - I agree about the chair. dh got a chair delivered from his office (after 6 months of wfh on a dining room chair and complaining every day about his back). But what about a standing desk? You can get things that sit on top of your normal desk so you don't have to spend loads of money.

@Justcallmecaptainobvious me too on the @prettybird earring recovery. I was gripped. Having lost my wedding ring (it was a wedding ring and engagement ring combined, very pretty with diamonds in it - the top one here if the link has worked correctly

I still periodically dig in the garden, or search the kitchen, hoping upon hope that I might find it. I had a dream once that it appeared on a daffodil as the bud grew from the ground... You've given me renewed hope.

prettybird · 25/03/2021 22:24

That's absolutely beautiful Venus - I hope you do one day find it again. Thanks

There was a ring (a sapphire and diamond eternity style) featured on The Repair Shop a couple of weeks ago that had gone down the generations but was then lost. Turned the house upside down. Years later, it was found by chance in the stone chips in the driveway Shock (iirc, the DIL dropped something as she got out the car and then saw something shining). It had been badly mangled, presumably after years of being driven over, but The Repair Shop fixed it Smile

venusandmars · 25/03/2021 22:44

Aww.. funnily enough, dh also lost his wedding ring a few years later (although in a much more dramatic almost drowning incident in Costa Rica). So now we both have new rings that we made for each other in a jewellery workshop.

But too difficult to add diamonds into that (and I did need diamonds). So more than 20 years after we were married dh bought me an engagement ring (which I'd never had first time round) Grin

1stMrsF · 25/03/2021 23:16

@prettybird so pleased you found the earring!
@cheeseisthebest I've gone the other way - gone back to work and back is dreadful because I'm sitting longer and not used to my two screens. I had a full day Zoom testing course today which has not helped. Maybe try yoga? Really helped me in lockdown when I was really stressed. But I also second the anti inflammatories.
I thought the jag was just a typo Blush
@Ifeelmuchlessfat I feel that turning around a gain is a big achievement in these times. Hope next BC is a better time for you.

L - terrible school dinner burgers that were probably not LC, with hm Coleslaw and leftover cauli pizziaola
D that lovely fish bake DM makes that I keep meaning to put on the recipe thread. Doh!

BustleInYourHedgerow · 26/03/2021 03:06

L: Leftover prawn jambalaya, stir fried pak choi
D: bologna with courgetti and aubergine, parmesan
1 cup of tea with cream
1 Square 85% dark chocolate

3+ litres water
Green tea
All the coffee

MrsOmelette · 26/03/2021 05:50

Am out of unsweetened soya milk and can’t have a cup of tea. Aargh. Going to be a long day. I drink my coffee black but much, much prefer tea.
L - chicken & cabbage soup. 90s bread croutons.
D - baked sea bass with roasted veg

ditavonteesed · 26/03/2021 06:59

@cheeseisthebest the sanctuary doing a warming body balm, it's amazing, I've got all my colleagues addicted. It's a bit like deep heat but smells so much nicer. Warning though I get very hot, I put in on the bottom of my back and my shoulders before bed and wake up a bit less achey.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 26/03/2021 08:58

I'm still at yesterday 4pm (thread time), but just wanted to post for @cheeseisthebest .

It's a fifteen minute Pilates video, & really sorts my back out

If you're not familiar with Pilates terms and postures, she has short videos explaining those too.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 26/03/2021 09:06

And I've caught up!

Very glad to hear about all these whooshes.

I think U'll end up losing about half a pound of the pound-and-a-half that I put on last week, which will still leave me with a decent loss this Bootcamp.

I will definitely be hanging around, and will be more than ready for the next one to start!

Very glad your earring turned up @prettybird. I don't wear them any more, but I was always losing mine. One went down the sink on my wedding day!

ListenLinda · 26/03/2021 09:16

Paying for my chocolate twat moment earlier this week, but not on the scales. Having a lovely outbreak of spots Sad
Feeling sorry for myself today ha.
But, rugby league is back tonight, DH is making burgers tonight and I have a low carb roll to go with it. Lots of water today.

Dropping the kids off at nursery has allowed me to close my rings early in the day today haha march challenge nearly complete.

nowlook · 26/03/2021 09:37

Oh, well done Linda! Is it just you and pretty who have stuck with the March challenge, or are some of the rest of you still soldiering on?

I've not done anything extra, I'm afraid.

Carpet fitter is currently 7 minutes late...

Dailyhandtowelwash · 26/03/2021 09:46

So pleased about your earring @prettybird. Your pictures have been making me sad (don’t stop them) because it makes me think of all the nice jewellery I’ve lost over the years. ADHD makes me hugely careless which I very much dislike about myself.

Today is a day of eating out (sorry) so am fully expecting no loss at all this week.

Lunch is at a fab small plates place so am planning their crab omelette and some whipped goat’s cheese I think.

Dinner is out out with DH and the menu is here. Not actually TOO offensive but I am plunging headfirst into the chocolate dessert: static1.squarespace.com/static/58fdcf86db29d686093eb9cf/t/604a5c4e755508759ddeebbd/1615486044441/Number+10+Tasting+Menu+%28March%29.pdf

Ninkanink · 26/03/2021 09:48

@nowlook I’ve stuck with mine but it was only a little one - saving £1 a day into a fund for fripperies. I just thought people would get a bit bored with me saying ‘I’ve saved a pound again today!’ daily... Grin

BIWI · 26/03/2021 09:51

I've given up on my 30 day challenge as it set my back pain off Sad

I have, though, kept up with the running, and am just about to start week 5 of C25K. This is the week it starts to ramp up, which I'm not looking forward to - keep telling myself that I've done it (twice) before so I know I can do it!

@Ifeelmuchlessfat I'm starting the next Bootcamp on 12 April - designed to allow us all to burst out of isolation in splendid thinnery when Covid rules are lifted Smile

BIWI · 26/03/2021 09:53

OMG @Dailyhandtowelwash that menu sounds amazing! I'd be going for the rhubarb tart though - much nicer Wink

Bestbees · 26/03/2021 09:59

Morning all!

Felt rough yesterday post jab but much better today. I am having today as my final weigh in and I am 9.12.5. I began January at 10.6. That was largely christmas weight but still over all pleased. More pleased with the other benefits like more energy, less pmt, less bloating. Will be sticking with this woe for sure.

I have kept up my fitness challenge apart from yesterday so will do one more day. @prettybird has inspired me so spent last night polishing up my tarnished silver jewellery and sorting it out. Will try to wear something different each day in April.

Well done to those with lovely whooshes. Already looking forward to next bootcamp!

nowlook · 26/03/2021 10:01

Well, I for one am sorry to have missed out on a daily update and running tally. By my reckoning, you're at £26 today, so well done! Grin

That menu though Daily Envy Envy

I'm genuinely going to be slim by the end of the second BC and I can't quite get my head around it yet.

Bestbees · 26/03/2021 10:01

Oops forgot food:
Yestersday
B buttery eggs, avo
L haddock cream and veg soup, half a scotch egg I took the breadcrumbs off(only the second not allowed food from the whole 10 weeks!)
D roast veg, pesto, cheese. Greek yog, dark choc.

Today
Omad- steak, blue cheese, mushroom, salad and celeriac chips. Glass or two of red. Greek yog.

Elpheba · 26/03/2021 10:04

Really sorry to not have screenshot it when I saw it- but could anyone repost the cheese scone recipe? I had a look on the veggie recipe thread but couldn’t find it there. Hoping these stop me from joining in with everyone else’s real scones on the weekend!
