Week 3 - decision-making time!

Welcome to week 3!

As BIWI's away, she asked if I would start the week 3 thread. I've stolen her words from a previous week 3, as it's such a good explanation of bootcamp v. bootcamp light. Grin

Good luck for tomorrow everyone Smile

The wedding I was at yesterday was fantastic. They are such a great couple and the First Dance was sort of 20% choreographed and 80% dancing around like idiots having a great time. Truly lovely.

However, I let my hair down and had 4 glasses of wine... and today I've felt absolutely awful all day. Not in the normal hungover way but just feeling really lethargic, no energy, headache. I managed to take the dog for an hours walk and did some housework but other than that I've just been sleeping and just sitting around.

Even though I really enjoyed the wedding, I'm just so angry at myself because I feel like I've wasted my whole Sunday when I would normally have the energy to get loads done. Drinking really doesn't go with this WOE so I'm off it now for the forseeable.

Well done to those who managed to abstain Grin

Thanks for the new thread. I'm not expecting miracles tomorrow & there'll be no surprises as I've been weighing daily, but I can see I've lost inches.

I also have a mother who can't resist commenting on my weight. She is 80, weighs the same as she did at 20 despite eating like a horse & is small framed & petite. Everything I am not Grin

Fingers crossed for everyone's weigh in tomorrow. I'll be happy if I have still lost the 2lb from when I weighed on Friday, but I'm hoping for another 1lb to take me to a 12lb loss (just because I don't like odd numbers!)

B: boiled eggs
L: full fat Greek yoghurt
D: a kind of bolognese, with lots of added veg (no pasta, obviously). Was very nice 😊

Not all cats react to catnip. Apparently it's genetic.

Our old Siamese (she's over 14! Shock) and the 9 year old that was killed 2 years ago both went doolally about it, going into wee trances playing with their catnip mice - and the old girl is currently loving chewing the catnip plant on the patio. But the two Siamese boys we got to keep her company after her "brother" was killed don't react to it at all. They're not yet 2 though - so they've still got time. Grin

this is a blatant place mark Wink

I've had one cat that loved to get himself completely stoned on catnip, and another who's indifferent to it.

Can I join you? I've just started following a low carb diet, although I don't want to follow a strict low keto diet, just cut out bread, sugary products, but I may have the odd spoon of rice or a few sweet potato wedges so that I don't feel too restricted. I need to lose at least 1.5 stone but could lose 2.5. I suffer with IBS and not eating bread and cake really helps me feel better.

Today I had a cheese and tomato omelette for lunch, roast chicken with broccoli, cauliflower, peas and green beans and 3 small sweet potato wedges for dinner, and snacks of 5 strawberries, 5 slices of salami and 2 dark chocolate violet creams ( they were left over and have now all gone and won't be replaced) plus about 10 almonds.

Well I have put 2lb on from my Friday weigh in, for a total loss this week of half a pound. Sanguine about this as I know I haven't drunk anywhere near enough water over the weekend, plus I had 3 vodkas on Friday and Saturday nights.

If the 2lb stays on then I will know that alcohol is going to be a weight loss killer for me.

Could someone add mine please - 136 thanks very much.

So that’s some on for me but I’ll be honest and say ive not been as strict as I should’ve, but thankfully I’m off those damn meds now and my neck and shoulders are mostly ok now so I’m hoping to get a run in today and start things off properly.

Have a good day all Smile

Well so much for a two week woosh. This week I have lost precisely nothing. I am exactly the same weight as I was last week.

So a whole week of careful meal planning, no chocolate, no coffee, passing on the strawberries my family were enjoying, no alcohol etc was a complete waste of time for me as I can maintain my weight quite easily while enjoying the above in moderation. I could understand if I had cheated but I've worked so hard at this.

I don't think this WOE is for me. I have no energy for running and I am worried about eating so much fat - I think a low calorie approach is a better one for me.

I've lost 4lbs which I'm very happy about, can't get on the spreadsheet to update at the moment. I will go onto lite now as don't mind if loss slows down a bit now as would like to lose another 7lbs by the end.

Thanks for all the lovely recipes.

Morning everyone - 2.75 lb loss for me. Not the lightest I've been this week but I'm happy (ish) and think I'll stay on hard core boot camp at least for now.
Have added yours guy.

2lb off . Thats ok but I know that I havent drank enough water over weekend..

Report

@RuffleBelly - same here. I have lost nothing this week, despite sticking to the rules of boot camp to the letter. I only lost 3lb in week one too! Was so lacking in energy this week I didn't even run.

I am so disappointed and perplexed by this. I have about 2 stone to lose so there is lots of weight to lose! No noticeable difference in clothes fitting etc.

Is it possible that this woe doesn't work for some people? Or do I need to reduce my food portions down?

2lbs off for me which is great considering both I've been on this WoE for a long time and haven't been totally strict: a few cheats on my midweek mini break to Wales plus quite a few BC light items over the weekend. Under 4 lbs to goal now (which is a round 120, exactly the middle of my healthy BMI range) which might need revising, as it feels like I've much more than 4lbs of post baby wobble in my middle still to shift.

On drinking, I find it's great as due to drinking less generally, two glasses of wine feels like 4 but no hangover, as essentially I haven't actually drink much! I miss beer though and do indulge from time to time

traceyturnblatt · 28/05/2018 07:29

Surprisingly a 1lb down for me! Didn't expect that at all! Not that I wasn't following BC as I was to a tee but I didn't feel lighter.

Lost a half inch of the hips too so not a bad morning so far!

Good luck to everyone!

Morning all, I'm down 4 pounds from last week, brining my total to 29 pounds since I started this woe. Hitting the two stone off mark during the week was a lovely milestone.Smile

Itsmeaga1n I'm a newbie this time around but my understanding is if you're participating in boot camp you have to follow the rules and eat from the food list.
There's another low carb forum you could check out which you may find suits your plan.

Yesterday:
B: 2 egg omelette with Cheshire and Cheddar plus 1/2 an avocado in it
L: salad with 1/2 can tuna, mayo, bit of coleslaw, oily dressing, some celery with garlic cheese.
D: scallops wrapped in bacon with garlic butter then the Ottolenghi Turkey Courgette burgers someone? (sorry) had on Saturday with the creamy sumac sauce and salad with a small blob of the hummus I'd made for DH and the baby. Fab recipe inspiration!
S: one square of 90% chocolate and a very small glass of Rioja.

Terrible run yesterday after an ok time on a tough parkrun course yesterday. Not sure if it was just the heat or a general lack of energy.

@farine we sound similar - I'd like to lose 3 stone though (although would be quite happy with 2 stone) so I have plenty to lose. I've been so strict with the exception of one can of Diet Coke. I've not had anything processed that could have contained sneaky breadcrumbs or anything, I've even given up coffee so as to have no milk. I'd have loved a nice glass of wine with family yesterday!

The two weeks I've done this I've really struggled with running and got two of my worst ParkRun times (in almost 200 runs - including running up to 36 weeks pregnant). I had to drop my weights in the gym and Bodypump too, I've been exhausted. I've been unable to do a long run. I just think this WOE is not for me.

Thanks for starting the thread @AthelstaneTheUnready!

@RuffleBelly and @farine why dint you list out. What you’ve been eating and drinking over the last few days and let me see if I can help you? It would be a shame to quit so soon!

And I have to say that whenever posters say they’ve stuck to the rules, invariably they haven’t... Wink

@Itsmega1n you’re very welcome to join Bootcamp - but that does mean following Bootcamp rules. So sweet potato and rice are forbidden I’m afraid Smile
