Welcome to week 3!

As BIWI's away, she asked if I would start the week 3 thread. I've stolen her words from a previous week 3, as it's such a good explanation of bootcamp v. bootcamp light. Grin

MrsBert - am currently failing to see the aww factor, since I've been flicked with pee twice!!!!!!

Well, I went to the loo and came back to find Bella, the mother, had decided to squeeze herself into the small carry box the outdoor two came in in (and are using as their base). Things seemed quiet but they're not back to thumping. Hey ho. It's not too bad so I'm hopeful. The group have been split up and put back together with no problems before so I'm sure we'll get there. Preferably without me being covered with much more pee!

Gammeldragz · 03/06/2018 11:19

Twoo Lidl soft cheese is 2.9g.

Brunch was a bit naughty as it's Sunday. Bacon, egg and I used up the last slice of Lower Carb bread from the freezer (nearly 10g carbs and I'm sure the only reason it's lower carb is because it's tiny!) to get rid of it. Won't be buying again.

Dinner tonight will be roast chicken with cabbage and mashed swede.

Twoo · 03/06/2018 13:09

Thank you Gamma, ill give that one a whirl when I next go!

MrsCoyote · 03/06/2018 13:51

I spent 5 mins yesterday looking at chocolate bars at supermarket. But in the end I took nothing - even these very dark ones were about 20g carbs - so I decided against. Halo

Two months of LCing tommorrow for me. I feel so good but I would appreciate some loss for my anniversary..

Have a nice Sunday, everybody.

abbey44 · 03/06/2018 15:48

Gammeldragz - which low carb bread was that? If you're near a Waitrose, they do Livlife bread which is 3.5g per slice (and bloody lovely toasted), and Sainsbury's do HiLo bread which is slightly higher - I think 5g per slice, but pretty good too.

I rather rashly threw a chopped up tomato (not even a very big one) into my omelette this morning, and my sugar has been high all day since. Who'd have guessed? Hey ho. Dinner will be a mix of whatever's in the fridge again - there's a lot of spinach in there, plus some cauliflowers and a couple of celeriacs, so won't be difficult.

Still hanging on to that 11.4, fingers crossed for tomorrow's weigh-in.

prettybird · 03/06/2018 16:16

Still miss the Hi-protein rolls from Lidl Sad

Gammeldragz · 03/06/2018 16:35

Yes, definitely mourning the loss of Lidl protein rolls!

It was the Hovis lower carb bread. I'll look out for the waitrose one.

Abbey the plum tomatoes I have say 3g carbs per 100, that seemed low to me. Are tomatoes that sugary they effect your blood sugar?

abbey44 · 03/06/2018 16:58

Well, I didn't think tomatoes were that bad, but today.... With diabetes, it sometimes feels like you can do the same thing ten days running and get different results every day - you just have to go with it.

Good luck with finding the Waitrose bread - I think it's the nicest low-carb one I've found. I don't have a Waitrose anywhere near, unfortunately, but if I'm ever in the vicinity of one, I try and get some for my stash in the freezer.

Lovely "naked burger" at a Bill's restaurant yesterday; we don't have this chain in my small city so it was my first visit. I particularly appreciated that it was a menu option in its own right and not an adaptation of a regular burger or worse something I'd had to request, risking inadequate/dull salad in place of the bun and chips!

Rest of the weekend I was being catered for so pretty hit and miss and much too carby, if relatively restrained on both the quantity and also the booze front. I did make a virtuous breakfast of leerdammer and some chicken bits from a convenience shop though. Fully expecting a small gain this week when I get weighed in the morning.

itchyknees · 03/06/2018 18:05

MrsCoyote how much have you lost in 2 months? Are you v v strict?

Seafour · 03/06/2018 19:48

Hi everyone,

Lazy day for me after being out all day yesterday, I've just finished my only meal of the day - wasn't hungry so didn't eat until now. We did a BBQ so a nice big salad with the first garden produce in it, burger, small piece of spicy chicken, mayo and olive oil.

Strange NSV here,
My DGC are here every weekend and have become intrigued with me pouring olive oil on my salad, neither of the bigger ones have been big salad fans until today, I encouraged them to taste a bit of lettuce with olive oil and they both ate huge platefuls of salad, so much that I had to make extra. Olive oil has been renamed "salad gravy" and they've both announced that they want salad for breakfast!

Time I think we need bunny photos, bonding them can be a bitch of a job. I've found that having them in separate pens but very close together and then every couple of hours swop them around so that they can pick up each other's scent without feeling threatened can work.
Did your vet test mum bunny for ecuniculi? It's a really nasty parasite that can migrate into the spinal fluid and get to the brain. Lots of vets don't test for it but its most common in kit nests because it's the perfect breeding ground for it.

BlackMozart · 03/06/2018 20:36

Yes an update on ‘bunnygate’ Would be good. I want to say I’m all ears...that’s terrible I know! [big grin]

I’m feeling stupidly pleased with myself for just about getting though three weeks (I have Monday to go as I weigh on Tuesday morning) without chocolate in bar form. I did have 50g of oppo chocolate and hazelnut icecream yesterday evening but have decided that doesn’t count as it hasn’t set off a craving as eating a few squares of dark chocolate would have done. No wine either. The key to that has been not to put any bottles in the fridge so temptation is not to hand.

prettybird · 03/06/2018 20:55

Had a lovely home made burger tonight. I'll post the recipe into the recipe thread but here it is:

1kg mince (cheaper, fattier stuff from Lidl)
2 large shallots
2-3 garlic cloves
1.5 teaspoons cumin
1.5 teaspoons coriander
2 teaspoons salt
2 eggs
Generous glug of olive oil

Finally chop the shallots and mash the garlic cloves with some sea salt. Soften the shallots in some coconut oil (sprinkle a wee bit of salt on them as they cook). Once they're nearly fully softened, add the mashed garlic, cook on gentle for a minute or two and then switch off and leave to cool.

Add to the mince and the rest of the ingredients and mix together with your hands.

Form into nicely rounded patties (I make 10).

BBQ, griddle or fry for c10-15 minutes, depending on how you like them.

Dh and ds had theirs in burger buns while I had mine "naked". Very moist and tasty Smile Served it with a nice big green salad.

UnimaginativeUsername · 03/06/2018 21:13

That’s an excellent NSV @Seafour. If only DS2 could be persuaded that salad is actually food!

I’ve only had two meals today (and I’m totally stuffed). I probably didn’t need to eat dinner at all.
L: buttered green veg and cauliflower with fried egg and leftover cod from yesterday.
D: chicken pho, with shredded Chinese leaf and bean sprouts instead of noodles, and crispy chicken skin.

I had to work hard to get any crispy chicken skin as DS2 ate most of it before I’d realised. It was delicious, of course.

RedPandaMama · 03/06/2018 21:16

I've really gone off on one this weekend. I posted a bit back about struggling with bulimia since a young teenager. I've managed to get past the bulimia but still struggle with emotional eating and binge eat to make myself feel full when I'm feeling a bit down and 'empty'. Without going into details I've had some family stuff going on this weekend.
No amount of fat could fill me up today and I binged on 150g of white chocolate, 2 cherry bakewells and 2 gingerbread men. I feel the deep guilt and shame (and also the stomach cramps) that come with disordered eating, but I'm sharing this here for accountability. I will not hide in shame and I will not lie about my falling off the wagon moment. I'm doing really well, I have done 24 days of LCHF and only 2 bad days. I'm proud of how far I've come and re-training my body and brain is a learning curve, especially after 9 years of messing about with it but over and under feeding.

Line drawn. Cooking up my chicken mayo salad for lunch in work tomorrow. Going to focus this week on drinking loads and trying to up my exercise. Smile

UnimaginativeUsername · 03/06/2018 21:20

Well done @RedPandaMama. You’ve got exactly the right attitude. 2 bad days and 24 good ones is excellent.

BlackMozart · 03/06/2018 21:34

Yes we’ll done redpandamama

At this moment my DS is eating my oppo icecream claiming 1) he didn’t realise it was mine and 2) it is very nice

That’ll be the end of that then!

prettybird · 03/06/2018 21:51

Not sure I should try this Oppo ice cream Grin

prettybird · 03/06/2018 21:53

RedPandaMama - well done for facing up to your eating habits - and KOKOing with a positive attitude Flowers

ajandjjmum · 03/06/2018 22:07

So someone's been talking to my dog. Just as I was about to eat, he threw up everywhere. Normally a DH job but he's away at the moment. Needless to say, food does not seem attractive now! Better have a yoghurt to keep the fat up!

DramaAlpaca · 03/06/2018 22:53

I haven't posted much this week but I've been keeping on. Had a bit of a test this weekend, going out to dinner with the family for my birthday, the first time I'd eated out since starting low carbing. I was able to check out the menu online, so I knew what the low carb options were & had decided what I'd be ordering in advance. It was an Italian place and I'm very pleased I managed not to fall face first into a plate of pasta.

twinkledag · 03/06/2018 22:54

Can I just pop in and say hello to @Seafour x

And hi to everyone else! Love the boot camp threads, everyone is wonderful.

underactivethyroidmum · 04/06/2018 03:09

I’ve not been online much this week due to ridiculous amounts of stress at work but I’m still doing ok although I’m bored with salad!

GuyMartinsSideburns · 04/06/2018 07:02

Had some ‘accounted for’ eating situations over the half term, nothing major or terribly ‘bad’ but enough that I feel crap today. So I’m another that has to stay on course or I just beat myself up.

Thankfully off those awful tablets, it was definitely those causing the reaction, at the moment I’m on nothing but if I start to slump again I’ll try St Johns Wort I think. Don’t know if that would help racing anxious mind tho!

I’m just having a coffee with cream, then once I’ve done the school run I’m walking to lidls to get some nice food in, think I’m needing to up the fat big time and see if that causes a significant shift.

I’ve had some odd weeks and really my heart hasn’t been in it but I’d like that all to change now. Smile
