Week 2 - May '18 Low Carb Bootcamp - my favourite week!

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet

I love this week, seeing how much weight people lose, and especially as it's always such a surprise for newbies and those who feared that this WOE wouldn't work!

I hope you've all seen good results.

If you haven't - don't despair, but have a think about the week just gone. Look at what you were eating/drinking and consider how well you followed Bootcamp rules.

Any problems, as ever, post them on the thread.

Regarding T2 diabetes. A few years ago my DH was feeling rubbish and so made his once in a decade trip to the GP who, after doing tests, announced he was so borderline diabetic he only just sneaked in under the line rather than getting a full on diagnosis. Incredibly fortunately, the GP he saw is married to Dr Michael Moseley, the blood sugar diet person. DH followed that - combination of low carb and 5:2, and by the time he was called back to have the tests repeated, his blood sugar level was safely back in the normal range, where it's remained every since. The outcome would have been very different, had he seen a GP who followed standard Government/NHS dietary advice...

BIWI · 21/05/2018 20:45

@Seafour - I've sent you a couple of PMs. Have you read them?

I made up some sugar syrup for my bees this morning, and accidentally licked my finger after checking the temp.

Holy shit, my whole body jumped to attention at the sugar.

blackteaplease · 21/05/2018 21:03

Farine, have you downloaded the google sheets app to your phone? I think you probably do need to login to google but you only need to do it once. Hopefully someone with more tech knowledge can answer properly for you.

clare8allthepies · 21/05/2018 21:14

6 pounds off, hooray!

I had intended to try and do some exercise today but a late night coupled with children waking in the night meant that I was shattered today and the exercise went out of the window. I might try to get some done tomorrow, although my 4 year old doesn’t go to preschool on a Tuesday so she’ll be ‘helping’ me 😂

Justmuddlingalong · 21/05/2018 21:15

Thanks for the advice regarding diabetes. He unknowingly eats low carb at home. But it's a free for all when he's at work. Will have a chat with him tomorrow and sort out a plan. Think it's given him a bit of a fright TBH. Sad

StuntNun · 21/05/2018 21:24

Justmuddling I have customers that have effectively reversed their diabetes just by going low carb. Some have even managed to come off insulin which is a huge difference in their health.

The body fat calculator is just an estimate Cherries but it gives us something to work with. What percentage did you get?

bettyblueeyes83 · 21/05/2018 21:44

May I still join? Had great success with bootcamp a couple of years ago but it's all gone wrong since then. I know I need to do LCHF again so was delighted to see another BC, even if I'm a bit late!

Mandelinka · 21/05/2018 21:57

Congrats to all on amazing loses!
I’m down 2 pounds and well chuffed.

Thursday and Sunday saw some off plan eating (reunion and my DH’s birthday respectively), but back on track as of today.

I’m flying to see my parents for a week, this means mum cooking celebratory food throughout my stay. She is a wonderful chick, but everything is high carb high fat so will have to try to skip some of the food.

B: chicken and haloumi ( yesterday’s leftover)
L: vegetable soup, olives
D: lamb burger with salad.

Lots of green tea and tea infused water
Walked 11k steps today and did the bodycoach session on YouTube

AromaticSpices · 21/05/2018 22:02

Cabbage carbonara is AMAZING! Loved it. That is all!

BrassicaBabe · 21/05/2018 22:15

Checking in. Off to catch up Smile

OrlandaFuriosa · 21/05/2018 22:16

Biwi and others, I can’t see the headings at the top of the spreadsheet...stupid me...what am I doing wrong? I’m operating off a tablet..

RedPandaMama · 21/05/2018 22:22

Went out for dinner tonight and stuck to this WOE for the first time ever. Every other 'diet' I've ever been on I've cheated as soon as I went out. Tonight I had chicken tenders (breadcrumbs removed) with garlic mayo, steak with bernaise sauce and a side salad, cheese for dessert. Smile

Yarboosucks · 21/05/2018 22:24

Mr Yarboo is a rather straight talking scientist from Yorkshire. Tonight, unprompted, he told me that it is really noticeable that I have lost weight! Hooray!!! I might try my target dress on tomorrow just to see if it is any closer to being wearable.

BIWI · 21/05/2018 22:34

@OrlandaFuriosa Hmm. I can't see them either, and I'm on a laptop. I think we need @AthelstaneTheUnready to come along!

5.8lbs off for me, happy with that.

New to bootcamp but not to low carb, missing ice cream in this hot weather.

BlackMozart · 21/05/2018 22:57

Well wow at all the amazing losses on here!! itchyknees and northern I think amongst many others you have done so well. Rushing as ever on a Monday morning I”d eaten my breakfast before I realised I hadn’t weighed so will have to do it tomorrow.
ilove you look great and time if it was you in the photos (I have lost track, sorry) then you do too.
giraffeski so sorry to hear about your loss - adding my best wishes too 💐

TimeIhadaNameChange · 21/05/2018 22:58

Lone - phew! I'm 37 so putting me at mid thirties is grand! I was worried you were going to say 20s. People often say i look much younger than i am and it annoys me. So thanks for making me feel better!

BlackMozart · 21/05/2018 22:59

sciencenut people have been recommending Oppo as a great ice cream alternative for after bootcamp 2 weeks. I bought the choc and hazelnut one today and hid it at the back of the freezer!

Seafour · 21/05/2018 23:23

Posting tomorrow's food in advance as I have an appointment in Manchester at 11:00 so an extra early start for me.

B cold chicken and lettuce wraps
L bunless burger
D salmon, courgette

Leelaseye · 21/05/2018 23:31

Finally made it to the end of the thread before falling asleep!

Fabulous pictures and so inspiring cherries and time Smile

So sorry for your loss giraffe Thanks

4lb down for me this morning so not as amazing as some of you but I'll take it! Hoping that the imminent arrival of period means I'm probably good for another couple of lbs.

Managing without chocolate and alcohol for this long is nothing short of a miracle for me. Really feeling like I can do this now and reading these threads has made a massive difference.

JingsMahBucket · 21/05/2018 23:51

@BlackMozart and @sciencenut I just recently tried the dark chocolate and hazelnut flavour of Oppo ice cream and it is AMAZING. Doesn’t have a weird aftertaste at all and the chocolate is authentic. It’s going to be my new default ice cream.

Boot camp light this week as I’m on holiday. I’m packing away the fats in the south of France right now. Today could’ve been better but I’m feeling alright about this ratio. (See attached image.)

MumOfAPickle · 21/05/2018 23:58

Playing catch up again! Well done on everyone's losses, thanks for sharing the pics (maybe one day I'll have lost enough to do the same!) and so sorry for your news giraffe I hope you've got plenty of support Flowers

Only 1lb down for me but I've been low carbing pretty much since new year and I've had nights out etc this week so I am very chuffed.
Food today:
B: ham, broccoli and cheese breakfast muffins
L: chicken leftover from BBQ yesterday and a yummy cauli rice salad
D: cod loin and more caulk rice salad
S: pork scratchings & yogurt

SummerRayne17 · 22/05/2018 00:01

Welcome @Chocchip88 and well done for sticking with the plan. I'm finding it a bit easier now. I am determined not to let my DH sabotage me, even if it means us having separate meals then I am sticking to it! Do you have much RlL Support?

AthelstaneTheUnready · 22/05/2018 06:17

Wow, someone's had fun with the spreadsheet Shock Grin.

I suspect by sorting by column, rather than range

Should be fixed now - shout if anyone's missing!
