Week 2 - May '18 Low Carb Bootcamp - my favourite week!

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet

I love this week, seeing how much weight people lose, and especially as it's always such a surprise for newbies and those who feared that this WOE wouldn't work!

I hope you've all seen good results.

If you haven't - don't despair, but have a think about the week just gone. Look at what you were eating/drinking and consider how well you followed Bootcamp rules.

Any problems, as ever, post them on the thread.

5 lbs. - despite a G & T, very small piece of birthday cake and small tub of icecream at the theatre for DD's birthday treat.

No deviation this week whatsoever! Grin

Well done everyone!

Sorry Giraffski Sad

toomuchicecream · 21/05/2018 18:49

1 lb down, which I'm happy with as my period finally showed up yesterday. Based on previous experience, I'll lose 3 lb this week without trying, so next week will be far more cheering. More to the point, I'm at my lowest weight in 8 or 9 years so even maintaining at this level rather than going back up (as has happened in each of the 6 or 8 times I've got to this point in the past) is a major achievement. KOKO!

TheyBuiltThePyramids · 21/05/2018 18:58

I have really struggled to eat today. I feel hungry but don't have much of an appetite. For breakfast I had a Total yoghurt and some chorizo. For lunch I made cauiflower cheese with bacon and cream cheese. I have the other half of that with some steak tonight but don't fancy it at all..

NorthernKnickers · 21/05/2018 19:12

9lb loss for me. I'm floored! Really can't believe it to be honest...it was actually 10lb yesterday, but up this morning, so I've left it there on the spreadsheet (I do know why...I've not been 'to the loo' now for 4 days and tbh getting a bit desperate! Any ideas?). I'm sure that once 'I've been' 😳 that lb will disappear again!

I seem to have completely bypassed any of the other symptoms people are talking about...no headaches or any kind of hunger at all. Haven't snacked on anything I shouldn't, or even wanted to, so all good on the cravings or missing anything.

It's been really lovely reading all the positive advice here though...I think that's what has kept me going, so thank you all...I really don't think I could have done it without you xx

Twoo · 21/05/2018 19:15

Wow NorthernKnickets fabulous start! Well done!

In regards to loo, masses of water, fat and some magnesium chelate should help Wink

Ragwort · 21/05/2018 19:17

Fabulous - 8lb lost !! Haven't actually registered 'officially' on the spreadsheet but have been following all the great advice on this thread and since starting last Wednesday have lost 8lbs (proper scales at the Doctor's as well as I have had appointments each week Grin).

Feeling great, no carb flu or other side effects Wink.

Thanks to everyone here.

Just had a delicious dinner. Fried chicken and mushrooms in lots of oil. Chucked in loads of corgetti with more oil. Sautéed it for a minute then added three teaspoons of red pesto and a few tablespoons of cream and chilli's powder and seasoning to taste. Warmed this through then finished with a big handful of spinach in the pan. Done. Took about 10 minutes for two serving!!

I’m over the moon with my 3lb loss as I’ve also lost 4 inches off my waist. This is the first diet where I don’t feel deprived or hungry and it’s been much easier than I expected. Hopefully some exercise will help get things really moving as I’m going on holiday in 7 weeks and I would love at least a stone off for then !

ReadingwithTea · 21/05/2018 19:25

Yesterday I was still 3.4lbs down, which was great, but that went up this morning, so I am now 2lbs down, despite avoiding all the lovely ice cream and wine this weekend!

However, I think that this is possibly due to period arriving today.

I have not actually felt deprived by not having any of the sweet treats apart from the wine, which is great, plus my need to snack has massively reduced, which is amazing. Also, I definitely feel that some clothes are looser around the waist, so I am happy with that!

Flowers giraffeski. Long time ago now, but I walked your road too.

Fat little hand hold for you.

Giraffeski · 21/05/2018 19:46

Thanks for all the Flowers guys
I am amazed at the before and after a, I hope I can manage results like those this time. @Ilovecherries I remember you from my first boot camp thread, so I am pleased it’s gone so well! Just shows what I could have achieved had I not fallen face first into all the carbs. I hope my will power will see me through this time as it failed before! Doesn’t help that I have a DH who loves crisps and Haribo Hmm
I am coeliac so avoiding bread etc is a bit easier for me as the bread I can have is a bit shit anyway. Also means i’m used to checking labels. But I do rely a lot on rice, potatoes etc with meals.
I do manage to sneak in cauliflower mash etc to the family meals mind you.

TheyBuiltThePyramids · 21/05/2018 19:49

I was suffering from the man toilet habit too - had to do some candy crush whilst waiting. My Magnesium Glycinate arrived yesterday. Not sure if it was that but the problem has resolved itself in the short term

CodLiverOil556 · 21/05/2018 19:51

Love you @Giraffeski...this time we'll smash it xxx

oldbirdy · 21/05/2018 19:53

3.6lb off for me. Pleased with that as recently I have really struggled to lose and have gained easily. Also noticing a decrease in appetite today.

Menu from today
B: a couple of spoonfuls of yoghurt, running out the door
Lunch: ham salad with mayo
Snack: packet pork scratchings, smoked cheese
Dinner: Belly pork, cauli rice with butter and cream, greens and brocolli with butter.

Stuffed full and couldn't eat all my supper. I guess the leftovers will make supper tomorrow!

A family member has just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Given no medication, but advised to look at his diet. We're totally in the dark, but am I right in thinking this WOE would benefit him? TIA.

YES! Very much so. I'm type 2 and my blood sugar has improved immensely since I started this.

3stonedown · 21/05/2018 19:59

I just had a quick look at the sugar free haribo on Amazon, oh my the reviews cracked me up... sounds like they will definitely work as a last resort is anyone is struggling with the toilet

Giraffeski · 21/05/2018 19:59

@Justmuddlingalong I think this is an ideal diet for type 2 diabetes, I think i’m right in saying that it’s the most reliable way of keeping blood sugars stable. I’m sure I read somewhere that some NHS trusts (either already doing or thinking about it, can’t remember which) are prescribing a LCHF diet as a first line treatment for non insulin dependent diabetes before they consider drugs.

Giraffeski there are lots of us here from last May to support you. I too fell wheeled off the lchf wagon

How do you get onto the spreadsheet via your phone? It keeps asking me to sign into google?

DramaAlpaca · 21/05/2018 20:30

Giraffeski Flowers

I'm not hungry today at all. Normally the first thing I do when I get home from work is forage in the fridge, but didn't feel the need today. I'll make myself have something before bed though.

Lonesurvivor · 21/05/2018 20:38

Chocchip88 · 21/05/2018 20:42

I’ve been reading all the posts and shyly lurking. Just wanted to thank you all for being so inspiring and helpful and asking the questions I needed answers to!
I’ve managed to stick to the WOE 100% and given up the dreaded Diet Coke (my only source of caffeine) all thanks to you all.
I have a shit load of weight to lose - currently a size 24 - so really hoping this works! I’m not weighing myself but have a size 22 dress I’d love to fit in by the summer, I tried it on last night and have a way to go.
Feeling very determined!
