Week 2 - May '18 Low Carb Bootcamp - my favourite week!

BIWI · 21/05/2018 07:20

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet

I love this week, seeing how much weight people lose, and especially as it's always such a surprise for newbies and those who feared that this WOE wouldn't work!

I hope you've all seen good results.

If you haven't - don't despair, but have a think about the week just gone. Look at what you were eating/drinking and consider how well you followed Bootcamp rules.

Any problems, as ever, post them on the thread.

1 lb off which is a good start by my standards. I managed not to be derailed by a meal out at the weekend - I had fajitas, but just ate the meat and veg, leaving the tortillas in their pot (didn't even open it so as not to be tempted); then the cheeseboard but I left the biscuits.

Well done to everyone - some amazing losses in week 1 as always.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 22/05/2018 06:39

Ahhh, the cheeseboard, Valenta, sigh.

I've never been a pudding person, but the cheeseboard... I am so grateful that this WOE (in theory) encourages that, but have yet to find somewhere that offers a full range, unpasteurised, non-cow's milk cheeseboard .

ScreamingValenta · 22/05/2018 06:53

I can imagine - I've only ever seen at most a couple of goat/sheep cheese options amongst the cheeses.

The worst excuse for a "cheeseboard" I ever saw was at a work Christmas function - two Jacobs crackers and two Dairylea triangles, with a single drooping stick of celery Shock.

BlackMozart · 22/05/2018 07:25

Ok well, after all that saintly behaviour I lost precisely 1lb which is a loss I grant you but given it was week one....
I am going to do this week because I said I would do a proper two weeks but if I don’t shift more this week I am going to be more than a bit down. I still have exactly 4 stone to lose and I really don’t want it to take a year. Sorry. I need ilove’s resolve. ☹️

Justmuddlingalong · 22/05/2018 07:32

0.4lb down this morning. I had a very short trip to the loo, so that'll be the 4oz! Still, weight going in the right direction, so I'm happy. Grin

Waswittyonce · 22/05/2018 07:38

Morning all, some fabulous results out there, lovely inspiring pictures too, and it is really encouraging especially this morning when apparently I've put weight on again and am back to where I started last Monday Confused
Bugger, I thought I'd been so good too, turning down wine for water (DH was Shock), making chocolate pie for guests and not even so much as licking the spoon, and drinking at least 3l water a day. Apart from my visit to friend last Monday I've been sticking to the rules, but whereas I was struggling to eat 3 meals a day last week Sunday and yesterday I started feeling hungry and having to snack. Fortunately I work from home so the right stuff is in the fridge. Perhaps I'm not eating enough, is there a calorie target to aim for?
Anyway, Hey ho, onwards and backwards!

blackteaplease · 22/05/2018 07:43

Be kind to yourself Blackmozart 1lb a week is a sustainable weight loss without having to resort to major deprivation. That way you can still enjoy your meals and lose weight.

farine · 22/05/2018 07:45

@BlackMozart stick with it. Don't think about the 4 stone and it taking 12 months, think about a stone before summer and how amazing that would feel and then two stone by Christmas. Just imagine being two stone lighter as you stand by the Christmas tree. Break it down into smaller chunks so you can celebrate success more often

Waswittyonce · 22/05/2018 07:46

@BlackMozart looks like we're in the same boat, except you're at least down from your first weigh in! @BIWI gave me good advice when I felt daunted at first, which was 'concentrate only on losing the next 3 pounds'
Let's not give up, even if week 2 is disappointing as well xx

Rshard · 22/05/2018 07:50

It’s def better to have smaller goals than focussing on the end game.

BlackMozart · 22/05/2018 08:01

Thank you farine waswittyonce and blackteaplease. You are right of course. I ate a lot of cheese this week to try and compensate for not having chocolate so I think I will try and cut that back (not out yet) and see if that helps.

Goodasgoldilox · 22/05/2018 08:02

I found the posts on eating out very cheering. My birthday is next Monday and the weekend is a bank holiday family gathering so eating out is likely.

This way of eating makes the whole thing possible!

blackteaplease · 22/05/2018 08:14

BlackMozart is it worth having a meal planning session to get a couple of delicious meals in this week. I find I get stuck in a rut but a couple of lovely meals spurs me on again.

Chattycatty · 22/05/2018 08:22

Forgot to post yesterday I lost 7lbs which I was delighted with I’m a daily weigher and this morning I’ve lost another 3 so 10lbs in 8 days!!

BlackMozart · 22/05/2018 08:32

blacktea that is a good idea as I do tend to rely on a few favourites. I don’t really like creamy sauces on fatty meat and although I am a good cook and enjoy it I am time poor (or perhaps that should read a poor planner) so fall back on what I always eat. Given I have about 200 cookery books I could be doing better!

Waswittyonce · 22/05/2018 08:39

I must plan more too, but also feel time poor. I have this really sulky immature response to the thought of meal planning!!

OrlandaFuriosa · 22/05/2018 08:43

Giraffe, so sorry.

Twoo · 22/05/2018 08:43

BlackMozart I understand where you are coming from and I get why you are so disappointed. I’m the same in that I only tend to lose a lb at a time, sometimes that’s weekly, sometimes takes longer and I stall. Like others have said break your goals down into manageable chunks.

If you lost a 1lb a week, that would be a 2 stone weight loss by Christmas. How good would that feel. I averaged 20lb loss over 20 weeks. If I can do it, You can do it !

OrlandaFuriosa · 22/05/2018 08:47

As one of BiWi’S newbies I’m amazed. I started late so in theory I shouldn’t do a weigh in till tomorrow but couldn’t wait. Have reverted my dates..I know it won’t continue like this but 7 lb, half a stone!

Half a stone, half a stone , half a stone onward
Into the vale of the thin
Went the two hundred..

( with apologies to Tennyson).

Waswittyonce · 22/05/2018 08:53

@OrlandaFuriosa GrinGrin Grin
and well done!

Iamnotacerealkiller · 22/05/2018 08:54

Just weighed again and another lb off Shock so 6.5lb in 8 days wow!!

so glad to be back doing this with you all, i feel like i am really in the swing of it now. i realised yesterday that when i have been trying this in the past i wasn't eating nearly enough fat as i think subconsciously thinking 'its even better if i can reduce the fat too' this time im trying to stuff fat into evrything. added cheese and cream to my bacon and eggs this morning (nom) now feeling very full and it was only 2 eggs and 3 streaky bacon, less then i would have usually but wow.

Anyone have any good key points i can raise with my mum who is still stuck 'fat is bad' camp. whenever i mention the insulin theory of obesity she talks about it being very 'fasionable' to think like i do Confused

I have told her about low carb diets predating low fat. Told her about Ancel Keys in the 70s. Told her that Sweden has as a nation rejected the fat hypothosis to do with heart disease. She cannot get over the programming!!

Its especially frustrating because she has just been told that her cholesterol is a bit high and to cut down on fat (facepalm) she has reduced the sugar in her diet generally but i think im just sounding like an obsessive twat to my family.

It doesnt help that she is slimmer then me Grin always complains about her weight though...

AromaticSpices · 22/05/2018 08:57

I weighed this morning, as the last three days have been exactly the same on the scale. Am now 11st9.2, down from 11st11 yesterday!! Takes me to almost 8lbs since last Monday. V pleased with that.

Here's to another good day ladies!

GiantPandaAttacks · 22/05/2018 08:57
