Week 2 - May '18 Low Carb Bootcamp - my favourite week!

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet

I love this week, seeing how much weight people lose, and especially as it's always such a surprise for newbies and those who feared that this WOE wouldn't work!

I hope you've all seen good results.

If you haven't - don't despair, but have a think about the week just gone. Look at what you were eating/drinking and consider how well you followed Bootcamp rules.

Any problems, as ever, post them on the thread.

Lying here in bed and just realised I have completly forgotten to have dinner!! I was planning in ordering Indian food too :( im still not hungry now though. That's very very odd I feel like I ate a couple of hours ago. I was wrangling the baby but still...

wherehavealltheflowersgone · 24/05/2018 22:14

What are devilled eggs?!

AromaticSpices · 24/05/2018 22:29

I have not been hungry all afternoon. Got ready to start on dinner and god a chilli out of the freezer but while it was defrosting I realised I didn’t actually want it; instead I wanted mushrooms and shredded cabbage sautéed in butter, with chilli flakes and salt and pepper. It was gorgeous! Another big water with it, herbal tea now bed. Feel like I’ve smashed today!!

clare8allthepies · 24/05/2018 23:04

Well I made it! Baked a huge cake this morning and went to a cake tasting night at brownies. Didn’t sample a morsel! I ate about an hour earlier than usual tonight so was planning to snack on some cheese tonight if I got hungry, but I’m not hungry at all.

Yarboosucks · 24/05/2018 23:21

Nothing tastes better than resisting temptation!

antimatter · 24/05/2018 23:32

Well done @clare8allthepies!

I was cooking mashed potatoes for my son and for the first time in ages didn't feel like tasting them!

ItsalmostSummer · 25/05/2018 01:27

I love this WOE but I am wanting something like a sweet treat. Any ideas that fit this week or possibly next week ?

Iamnotacerealkiller · 25/05/2018 05:45

If I'm craving something sweet I sometimes have a glass of whole milk as a dessert. If the craving is partially thirst then this works too. I'm doing bc lite anyway so blueberries and clotted cream works for me.

Luki · 25/05/2018 06:29

Grr. Decided to have an early weigh-in because I'm going out for dinner tonight and going to a wedding tomorrow and I'm up 2.5lbs since Monday. Sad I know, I know. Weight fluctuations, but I knew I was feeling bigger! Really disheartened start to the weekend. Blah.

Also I now have two spots on my face this morning. Angry Joy.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 25/05/2018 06:42

Congratulations, Clare Grin

Almost, when some berries are allowed from next week, you'll find they taste just amazing, if you've had a genuine two weeks off sugar.

Luki, I usually find there's a link between a hormonal surge (slight gain and spotty face) and a small whoosh some days after. In fact, I've begun to almost welcome the occasional spot as it means something is going to happen! The last BC I wailed a lot about my emotions occasionally being all over the place and getting more spots - until I read up somewhere about the amount of hormone that is also stored with the fat, and gets released when you burn some of your stored fat.

Rayna37 · 25/05/2018 07:12

wherehave devilled eggs: hard boil, slice in half, pop the yolks out. Mix these with something (in my case finely grated cheese, chives and some mayo) and pipe this mixture back in to the holes. If I can find my piping nozzles this may become a staple!

Luki · 25/05/2018 07:12

Athelstane I have chosen to believe you, not because I think you're telling the truth, but because it makes me feel better Grin Thank you, I will definitely read up on that.

JuneBalloon · 25/05/2018 07:28

DH has a rare day off work so going out for a Greasy Spoon breakfast today - wouldn't have ever dreamt of doing this 2 months ago!!!

MyShinyThing · 25/05/2018 07:34

I feel you pain @Luki, I've got a couple of crackers at the moment too! That makes sense @AthelstaneTheUnready , can you direct me to any reading about hormones/fat/LCHF? I'd be really interested as mine are all over the place!

Turns out what I thought was carb flu was actually the start of a cold. Feeling a bit rotten this morning. On the plus side my muffin top is disappearing!

We had takeaway curry last night, I stuck to cauli bahji & butter chicken. DH had onion bahjis, popadoms, rice & lamb rogan. I wasn't even tempted to nick an onion bahji. I'll never know how he manages to maintain the same weight!

Not sure what today's food will be, didn't have time to make lunch & tonight I'll be running around doing holiday prep, drop off cat etc.

Bit worried about being away next week, BIL has booked us into a fish & chip restaurant one day & another we're visiting a chocolate factory! I'll have to channel some of the will power from you lovely lot!

Devilled eggs.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deviled_egg

Literally anything goes! My mum's version was with mayo, cayenne and paprika on top, but I see now this was a highly unambitious offering!

Waswittyonce · 25/05/2018 07:37

Had my first bulletproof coffee this morning, 1 tsp gold blend 1 tsp coconut oil 1tsp butter. Have I got that right?
It was ok, but I couldn't get it to go very frothy. I don't usually drink coffee, before bc I drank tea, but that's dropped off to 1 or 2 cups a day as I've been drinking water instead. Strangely the more water I drink the more I seem to want. 3 litres is not that hard to achieve any more, provided I'm not out and about all day without easy access to a loo!

farine · 25/05/2018 07:39

Must be the day for the scales to bounce up!
After feeling so delighted that I'd lost 1.5lbs so far this week, daily morning weigh-in has bounced up a 2lb which means I've put on. Hoping it's fluctuation and tomorrow I'll be back where I was.

In the meantime, keeping up with the water guzzling (still not become a habit), and easing off anything cheesy and creamy.

MrsBertBibby · 25/05/2018 07:45

Little bounce down for me, after a manic day with fridge-grazing for breakfast and lunch, and a cheese omelette with salad leaves for late tea.

Roll on Friday!

Waswittyonce · 25/05/2018 07:52

@MyShinyThing, my DH is the same, he can wallop whatever he wants (he has a very sweet tooth and eats biscuits by the handful) and hardly gains an ounce! We work together doing the same job, I exercise more than he does and I eat tons more vegetables, yet he remains gorgeous and I'm a fat old lady.
He does sleep a LOT better than me though, he always gets 8 hours and rarely wakes in the night. I haven't slept like that for years. Probably not since having my first child 30 years ago. He's also very laid back, so perhaps his metabolism works better as a result.

kakiqueen · 25/05/2018 07:56

Morning all, I've weighed in a few days early and have lost 1 lb.
This is going very slowly for me, despite sticking to the rules this week.
I'm wondering if I'm eating too much, because I suddenly feel that I am 'allowed', as long as it is the right foods?
Maybe I don't have a very clear goal, I just want to be smaller than I am now. I am 62.8 kg this morning. At my thinnest I was 60kg. I did look a bit too thin then, so maybe I just don't have a clear enough goal to motivate me. I can't work it out :(
I think I would like to get to 62 kg and just stay there without yo- yoing up and down all the time.
That's enough of my chatter for this morning.
Hope everyone has a good day. It is tipping down with rain here so I am glad I am in the office!

3stonedown · 25/05/2018 07:58

I don't know what's wrong with me but for the first time in nearly 3 weeks I really want a biscuit. I will resist but I am finding it hard as they are 3 feet from my desk.

We go on holiday tonight so I am going to try and be as strict BC as I can, but might have to go onto BC light. Also really tempted to take my scales with me as I am a daily weigher and find it hard to KOKO without knowing how I am doing.

Guys at my work always get a bacon baguette from the van down the road Friday's so I might see if they can get me a bit of bacon and some scrambled eggs to help resist the cravings.

kakiqueen · 25/05/2018 08:02

@3Stonedown- bacon sounds divine.
My stomach is rumbling at the thought of it!

Justmuddlingalong · 25/05/2018 08:06

Gained a couple of ounces again today. Am sticking meticulously so hoping my measurements are still decreasing instead. Will KOKO though. Have a good day, everybody. 🍗🥚🥗

qumquat · 25/05/2018 08:07

kakiqueen if you have very little to lose its not surprising your weight loss is slow. As I understand it weight loss always slows when we're near to our ideal weight.
