Week 2 - May '18 Low Carb Bootcamp - my favourite week!

BIWI · 21/05/2018 07:20

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet

I love this week, seeing how much weight people lose, and especially as it's always such a surprise for newbies and those who feared that this WOE wouldn't work!

I hope you've all seen good results.

If you haven't - don't despair, but have a think about the week just gone. Look at what you were eating/drinking and consider how well you followed Bootcamp rules.

Any problems, as ever, post them on the thread.

Does anyone have quick veg recipes?

the above mentioned albino poo i think is a result of eating lots of dairy and not enough green stuff but veg takes some time to prepare whereas cheese/cream/butter is always ready in the fridge.

i think im resorting to dairy as my cooking is always interrupted by the baby so want to limit time spent chopping and cooking veg.

ive added raw spinach to things today which i hope will help but any ideas for food that i can either batch cook and then warm from the fridge or like spinach i can just chuck in stuff?

Laska5772 · 24/05/2018 17:31

buttery eggs (3) for breakfast
about 4 black coffees - the real stuff ( Icant white coffee so thats not going to change )
Salmon and asparagus in lemon butter for dinner
Plenty water

I just am not very hungry any more.. but am I eating enough? The scales haven't moved since Sunday..Sad

But I think look thinner and jeans fit better than they did last week..

Kracken · 24/05/2018 17:41

Cerealkiller, I have a similar problem to you and what I am doing is batch roasting veg and having a box of them ready in the fridge to be warmed in the microwave (chuck some feta in if you like it, lovely!) or added to supermarket salad bags with a quickly scooped out avocado if I have it. I also need to find a low carb supermarket stir fry mix that I can just throw in a wok with prawns or diced chicken and smother on butter.

I need quick, convenient options otherwise I think I will stray! So hard when your busy and really hungry.

wherehavealltheflowersgone · 24/05/2018 17:43

I have FLGV most days which is a dish I got from the last BC. You basically sauté any green veg you want (I do broccoli, spinach, courgette, Brussels, I buy pre chopped!) in LOADS of butter then cover in grated cheese. It's lush and it keeps in the fridge for a day or 2 so you can quickly zap it in the microwave the next day.

blackteaplease · 24/05/2018 17:47

Frozen veg can be microwaved with butter really quickly

qumquat · 24/05/2018 17:48

I'm sleeping really well (and as a lifelong insomniac this is utterly life changing) but having terrible nightmares. Last night I was involved in a mass murder surrounded by dead bodies! Has this happened to anyone else? Does it pass?!? (The nightmares; I hope the sleep never passes!)

RuffleBelly · 24/05/2018 18:26

Can we talk about tinned tomato? I used them in a sauce the other day as I thought they were okay. I checked the carbs and chose the best I could find 3.6g/100g is that okay? I used them last week too and did lose 7lbs so maybe they aren’t too bad (big fish serving 4).

MelanieCheeks · 24/05/2018 19:08

Managed a walk around the continental market today in the sunshine, ignoring all the macaroons and fudge and tartiflette, but tearing myself to some fancy olives and cheese.

Currently making cloud bread to have with avocado tomorrow.

GiantPandaAttacks · 24/05/2018 19:11

I’ve been frying leeks and cabbage and using that cold for my lunches. Is lovely and then I add handfuls of spinach to it.
On track today but struggling to get through all of this water. I’ve got a two litre bottle in front of me that I’m aiming to drink before bed.

Menu for today:
B: ff yogurt and cream
S: pork scratchings
L: spinach & smoked mackerel
D: beef burger, pancetta, halloumi and leeks, cabbage and spinach. Am stuffed 😋

OrlandaFuriosa · 24/05/2018 19:18

Oh dear. Just fallen off. Noticed how hungry it’s made me. Stupid me.

Climbing back on. ..

farine · 24/05/2018 19:18

Ohhh frying leeks and cabbage sounds like a great idea. Will definitely start doing this and having a load to heat up in fridge.

Getting a bit fed up with cheese based stuff so going to try and avoid it for next few days.

farine · 24/05/2018 19:20

@RuffleBelly I think that sounds ok, for carbs in tomatoes. BIWI recommends the Sainsbury's basics in tetra packs as lowest carbs but not sure what that count is. I use ciro brand which is low carb too.

UnimaginativeUsername · 24/05/2018 19:28

I always buy the Sainsbury’s basics tomatoes in tetrapaks because they’re cheap. So it’s good to know that they have a particularly low carb count.

My bolognaise with fried shredded greens and lettuce was lovely. Apparently the GF pasta was a bit grainy (although DS2, who is stuck with GF for the rest of his life, didn’t think it tasted any different to normal pasta). I think I’ll stick to substiting a FLGV for pasta whenever I’m making it for the kids. Grin

UnimaginativeUsername · 24/05/2018 19:30

The Sainsbury’s basics chopped tomatoes are 3g of carbs per 100g (but it’s a 400g pack).

qumquat · 24/05/2018 19:31

divette thank you so much for the cauliflower cheese recipe. I combined it with an earlier one I saw where you mixed in some cauliflower leaves into the sauce. It was amazing! Best cauliflower cheese ever!

its got me back on track after being given a box of chocs today and not entirely resisting it

AthelstaneTheUnready · 24/05/2018 19:48

I stepped off yesterday. A day in Glasgow had my back screaming, so as I was as already full as allowed of painkillers, I had no less than 3 glasses of wine (in 30 minutes) to enable me to get on - and sit down on - the train home.

It worked well enough, but will not be good for the weight loss...

I love all these cauliflower cheese recipes, but have to swear off until I'm at goal as more than a mouse's nose portion stalls my loss.

underactivethyroidmum · 24/05/2018 19:49

I’ve fallen off the wagon slightly today but I still feel much better and my muffin top isn’t as big.

B: coffee with cream and some Greek yogurt
L: ham and cheese roll ups with leaves
D: chicken and goats cheese salad but I sneaked a bit of garlic bread

I’m struggling with water this week as my loo trips are restricted due to work. I’m dreading the bank holiday weekend as I know I will want wine and treats!

antimatter · 24/05/2018 20:00

Headache on this woe is mostly due to the lack of sodium. I read that just having a glass.of water with a bit of salt should help.
I know that if Indrink too much water like I did in the last 2 days I get a headache. I was desperate at work this afternoon with creeping pain and just had a tsp of Marmite. My stomach wasnt all that happy bit the pain slowly disappeared.
I also bought 2 tubes of this recovery drink which was recommended on another thread
(Not frommthis website but this seems wuite cheap)

Peopel on keto diet are using it.

JimmyGrimble · 24/05/2018 20:20

Tesco have some nice chicken meals to cook yourself. We had the Thai green curry last week and the peri peri spatchcock chicken the other night both with lots of lovely buttered greens. They were both less than a fiver and were really tasty. Tonight we’re having a half leg of lamb from Aldi £6.99 was less than they wanted for two packs of lamb steaks. Will have with buttered greens and broccoli.
I’m struggling with water.

Yarboosucks · 24/05/2018 20:51

Met up with a friend today who I have not seen for a couple of weeks and who I had not told about by diet. The first thing they said was that I had lost weight! I had been contemplating buying some scales, but I will save the money and carry on in the hope of more people noticing.

Roasted asparagus, cold beef and halloumi for dinner
Lunch was loads of cucumber, tuna mayo, some cheese and 2 eggs

DramaAlpaca · 24/05/2018 21:04

Dinner tonight was a creamy chicken curry made from scratch by DH. Instead of rice I had cauliflower couscous which I made by blitzing cauli, courgette, shallot & a small piece of green pepper in the food processor then sauteing with lots of butter. It was surprisingly nice. I had a dollop of soured cream on the side for good measure.

Pebblespony · 24/05/2018 21:17

That veg mix sounds good. We're having curry tomorrow. Think I'll give it a go. This thread is golden for ideas.

LeapinLizards · 24/05/2018 21:25

I like the sound of the cauli couscous.

Rayna37 · 24/05/2018 21:26

Just had gorgeous fajita style chicken using the seasoning recipe someone linked to up thread; I guess you all also now find your photos are thoroughly mixed in with screen shots of recipes and meal ideas?! Chicken, green and a few red peppers, courgette, shallots, mushrooms, garlic, cooked in coconut oil and with a large dollop of sour cream. I also made some devilled eggs for part of my picnic lunch which I think I got the inspiration for here! They were really good, had the last as a starter tonight.

Yarboosucks · 24/05/2018 21:29

Oh….. Devilled eggs! My dinner is still cooking!
