Week 2 - May '18 Low Carb Bootcamp - my favourite week!

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet

I love this week, seeing how much weight people lose, and especially as it's always such a surprise for newbies and those who feared that this WOE wouldn't work!

I hope you've all seen good results.

If you haven't - don't despair, but have a think about the week just gone. Look at what you were eating/drinking and consider how well you followed Bootcamp rules.

Any problems, as ever, post them on the thread.

Thanks @farine, You're right, it's definitely a mindset thing, in more ways than one for me!
Refusing a drink would have been impossible a month ago, I might have stopped at one drink back then, but none? No way.
I think I'm possibly not eating enough fat at the moment, 50 plus years of indoctrination that fat is bad takes a lot of shifting, and although I know consciously that it's ok, my subconscious isn't having it!
I have an inner toddler too who is tantrumming over meal planning, and I am beginning to realise that not having a proper plan isn't helping.
Had eggs mashed with a bigger slice of butter this morning (was only using a tiny bit before) and coffee with cream just now with my crayfish tails in Marie Rose sauce salad, and do feel a lot fuller than usual. Will try to meal plan properly this weekend

Lovely lunch of oven baked chicken thigh basted in lemon wedge, garlic and olive oil. Side salad of lettuce and a tomato with big dollop of mayo. Really tasty!

Wish I could stop feeling so tired and cold though! Angry

MumOfAPickle · 24/05/2018 13:40

Afternoon all, didn’t get a chance to post yesterday but have managed to very caught up today. time how horrrible for you, there’s nothing more galling than something really upsetting happening as a result of thoughtlessness. It’s also a really frustrating anger as there’s not really anywhere for it to go once the person has apologised. Just know that you are completely justified if your fury Flowers

So food yesterday:
B: egg muffins
L: cauliflower cheesy bake
D: chicken and sausage with courgetti. I did make this with tinned toms but did check the carbs and per portion wasn’t too bad.

Today so far:
B: egg muffin & some yogurt
L: chicken salad with dressing and some egg mayo

Am at a workshop and studiously avoiding the biscuits and fruit!

ilovecherries · 24/05/2018 13:47

Farine, I felt very cold initially, then it got better, then by the time winter came, I was seriously freezing all the time again Then I realised that by that time, I'd lost my fat coat, so I went and bought a puffa. Problem solved :). I felt seriously miserable for the first few weeks though - cold (but with a return of hot flashes!) itchy, aches etc etc. But it was ALL worth it.

ilovecherries · 24/05/2018 13:47

And smelly. I forgot smelly Grin

antimatter · 24/05/2018 13:57

@Rshard this is what I am using:

MumOfAPickle · 24/05/2018 14:17

Also please can someone link to the libra app for iPhone? Searched in the App Store but no luck...

MumOfAPickle · 24/05/2018 14:29

Oh is that the one antimatter? Blush I did see that but just read the first bit where it says you need the Libra runtastic scales for this app....am I being an idiot? Can I just use this to track my weight by inputting it manually?

antimatter · 24/05/2018 14:44

I picked up this link on apple store because it looks like the one I downloaded on my Android phone. On Android you can manually enter your weight. My Libra is developed by Daniel Cachapa

Just coming on to boast about walking past the buffet at a work do today, including millionaire's shortbread, normally my nemesis. Felt relatively detached from it.

blackteaplease · 24/05/2018 14:47

Cold, itchy and smelly sounds horrendous ilove.

I'm struggling with motivation for food at the moment and as a result am eating really crappy lunches. I've got half term off next week which should reset my food mojo away from the stress of work. I just seem to spend my life on catch up at the moment, one step behind where I should be.

Justmuddlingalong · 24/05/2018 14:50

Knackered today. Am ovulating so belly and legs are sore. Feel a bit sick too. Still, dinner's prepped so after that I've got a date with my pyjamas and the sofa.😉

Rshard · 24/05/2018 14:51

Thanks antimatter, I love Adrienne. And Benji of course

Ifonlyiweretaller · 24/05/2018 14:52

Interesting that about electrolytes @JuneBalloon I'm on my way to the docs as I have had dreadful vertigo since Saturday - maybe that's what it is! I bought some electrolyte powder but its fruit flavoured so wasnt sure I should be taking it!
Will see what the doctor has to say...

UnimaginativeUsername · 24/05/2018 15:02

I’m doing alright today. I weighed my self this morning and was 200g down on yesterday. That makes a whole 700g of weight loss in total. Haha. My stomach is definitely flatter though and I’m feeling less flabby. I don’t even care if that’s more my perception than reality because I feel better about my body (and that’s really what matters).

I’m going to make bolognaise sauce tonight. I’ll have it on top of buttered shredded cabbage and everyone else can try out tesco’s GF fusilli. I think I’d rather have the cabbage, so I’m definitely not feeling like I’m missing out on anything there.

I told DS2 that we could do some baking at the weekend with GF flour. This is mostly to help him feel better about a lifetime of GF diet, so I will have to resist the temptation to try whatever we make. He’ll be happy so long as he can still have pancakes for breakfast at the weekend (I’ll just have the bacon and eggs while the children eat the pancakes).

Luki · 24/05/2018 15:18

Aaaah torture! I was sitting here all smug sipping my water, satisfied after the tuna niçoise I had for lunch and my lovely colleague comes in, "have you had your tea break yet?" and hands me a 42g bar of Galaxy milk chocolate. Shock

It's perched on the end of my desk (as far away from me as I could push it) looking all tempting. The British part of my brain is also telling me it's terribly rude NOT to eat it since my colleague bought it for me especially! I was going to give it to DP when I got home but I couldn't bear to watch him eat it in front of me so I'm going to shove it in a cupboard until I'm slim enough to eat it Grin

UnimaginativeUsername · 24/05/2018 15:21

Oh. What a dilemma.

I’m in a coffee shop (drinking black coffee with multiple cups of water). I considered having something to eat but quickly realised there was absolutely nothing suitable. I didn’t even really feel bad about it though, so that’s definitely something.

Luki · 24/05/2018 15:24

23.4g of carbs in the Galaxy bar and 23.1g of sugar!! Shock

You'd think that would be enough to put me off it Grin

UnimaginativeUsername · 24/05/2018 15:35

Maybe this picture will help.

Iamnotacerealkiller · 24/05/2018 15:38

Albino poo...

Anyone else?

Luki · 24/05/2018 15:40

@UnimaginativeUsername Crikey, wow! Yeah, that did the trick! So much sugar for such a small amount of chocolate! Shock

Rshard · 24/05/2018 15:48

That’s a great visual deterrent!

ItsalmostSummer · 24/05/2018 15:51

Ifonly electrolytes are a life saver. Truly helping my low blood pressure and the feeling of dizzy and being tired etc. Also getting sleep helps (for me). I wanted to also say thanks to BIWI. I have been reading around LCHF a lot, and honestly BIWI you have put us all on the right track. Thank you so much. I hit my 40s and been regularly exercised and eating healthy (within a strict calorie regime) and not lost weight. My body did get healthier but I did not lose a thing. In fact I put on. Yes my clothes fitted better but so much of my fat didn’t budge. I want to say thanks for laying this all all out so clearly and giving us a guidance. Cheers to you !

Ifonlyiweretaller · 24/05/2018 16:00

@Itsalmostsummerm Doctor has given me something as he thinks it may be Meniere's Disease - despite my telling him about this diet. His thoughts were as I've suffered it before it may not just be lack of electrolytes. But I'm going to take a daily dose from now on anyway. After all it cant do me any harm (can it??)
@BIWI hope you're having a lovely break!
