Week 2 - May '18 Low Carb Bootcamp - my favourite week!

BIWI · 21/05/2018 07:20

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet

I love this week, seeing how much weight people lose, and especially as it's always such a surprise for newbies and those who feared that this WOE wouldn't work!

I hope you've all seen good results.

If you haven't - don't despair, but have a think about the week just gone. Look at what you were eating/drinking and consider how well you followed Bootcamp rules.

Any problems, as ever, post them on the thread.

Tiny but satisfying win today. After sticking at 13.10.something for a few days, this morning I was 13.10.nothing.

That means a whole stone since I started 5ish weeks ago.

Next waymarks: getting below 13.5 stone. Keep on trucking everyone!

Rshard · 24/05/2018 07:28

Is that the 30 minutes from January antimatter? I started it but wasn’t sure if it would still be availsble

Waswittyonce · 24/05/2018 07:34

Just caught up again after a stupidly busy day yesterday. Am feeling very virtuous, am well known for my love of real ale and wine, and we went out last night for dinner with a crowd in a local pub that serves really good beer. I had a burger (left the bun) swapped chips for salad and obvs no pudding. It went on from 6pm to midnight, round after round with everyone else really tiddly. BUT I did it, I didn't cave in!
However, this morning I woke up with the most banging headache, I slept really badly, and I feel as hungover as hell. And I've put on half a pound.
There's no justice in this world.

Waswittyonce · 24/05/2018 07:36

Meant to add, drank sparkling water all night of course, not beer!

farine · 24/05/2018 07:49

@Waswittyonce I keep waking with a headache too, so would love to know the cause.
Amazing restraint not drinking last night!

I am beginning to think when our mindset is that not drinking is being good to ourselves and achieving something positive rather than depriving ourselves, it becomes easier.

TheGherkin · 24/05/2018 07:57

Morning all. So many messages! I love how chatty bootcamp is.

Despite being in ketosis (I smell peculiar and weed on a stick to check, Soz) I appear to have put on a bit.
Is this because I am a total glutton and just eat too much?

TheGherkin · 24/05/2018 08:01

Just to add. I can happily live off cheese and ham/salami, eggs, double cream in coffee and spinach.
Think I’m overdoing the cheese. Cos I love it.

PuddingAndHotMilk · 24/05/2018 08:18

I caught up on the thread Smile
Well done on the restraint mostly everyone!
I'm doing ok and sticking to the rules but I have a friend coming to stay tonight so I fear I may cave and have a gin with her. I'm cooking LCHF for us both and have berries (for her) with yoghurt (for us both) for dessert. I'm 2lb down since Monday and will weigh again tomorrow so if it's disastrous it will hopefully motivate me to go virtually booze free for the full 10 weeks
I have >50lbs to lose so I know I need to KOKO for a long time!

mickeymacca · 24/05/2018 08:21

The scales have only showed a 1lb loss but I've just put my fave black trousers on and the waist is definitely looser hooray!! Even with the scales not moving I know it's working. Another great night's sleep for me too. Hugs to all those struggling. I've been a binge eater a very long time and I understand the struggles. Just focus on how great it feels when youve lost weight. You can do it

JuneBalloon · 24/05/2018 08:32

I thought this was really informative - I've been a miserable grotbag all week and now I think I know why!!!

Week 2 - May '18 Low Carb Bootcamp - my favourite week!
BlackMozart · 24/05/2018 08:44

iamnotacerealkiller I will post the scone recipes later but I think I am in danger of being whacked by BIWI’s big stick. Breastfeeding mums can perhaps make them, the rest of us stay away until bootcamp is past because they are made with almond flour/ground almonds.

ilovecherries · 24/05/2018 08:50

I'm hoping my two month near-stall may finally be over, as I've lost 2lb this week, down to 158 Grin. Today was the third consecutive day I've seen it on the scales, so hoping its real. 10 stone, here I come!

AromaticSpices · 24/05/2018 09:01

I could have had a disastrous night last night but I think it turned out OK. We are having major house renovations at the moment and the kitchen was out of action (no gas even to use the hob for an omelette or I'd have had that). So we got takeaway curry - I went for dry chicken tikka starter and then I had sag paneer, with half a cauliflower bhaji. I thought this was possibly the best thing I could have had..... any low carb curry officianados?! The bhaji had some gram flour in it which isn't bootcamp friendly but is still low carb, I believe. We have takeaway curry fairly often (sometimes twice a month) so it'd be good to know my best options.

Food for today:

L: 2 chicken drumsticks, remaining crab/mayo, leftover sag paneer (spinach and paneer cheese), and some lettuce. Bit of an odd collection but I am trying not to buy lunches out, so making the most of what's in the fridge at home to bring to work!
D: DH is away for the next three nights so I might use this opportunity to try some new LC recipes. I'll have the cabbage carbonara tonight.

Planning to make cauliflower cheese with the amazing-sounding recipe for tomorrow night.

Well done ilovecherries! I can't wait to see 10st something on the scales! Flowers

Rshard · 24/05/2018 09:02

That’s great mickey!

Superb ilove!

Seafour · 24/05/2018 09:04

Good morning everyone.

BIWI enjoy your weekend away.

Huge NSV for me
Slept really really well last night - I'm ventilated overnight and often wake up panicking because I'm convinced the ventilator isn't giving me enough air, long enough breaths or I'm convinced the machine isn't working momentarily and panic. Last night I fell asleep quickly and stayed asleep until DH woke me up at 6:00am. Feels so good.

Food today

B eggs & mushrooms
L avocado baked in the oven with an egg in it ( will post photo)
D mince and cauliflower with courgetti

Have a good day everyone

I'm f-ing pissed off. Came into the office this morning to a) find something of mine in an obviously different place to where it lives, and then b) something else, which I've had since childhood, broken. My officemate had a group in here and one woman brought her kids along. She, the mother, tried out a) but then, instead of putting it back where she'd found it just left it leaning against the side of the wall, and, it turns out, one of her kids broke b).

Ok, there was a note re b and an offer to replace, but that's not the bloody point. Why was her kid allowed near my desk, touch my stuff and be able to break it?

I know it's really minor, but my dad died when I was young and things from my childhood are really important to me. I'm actually really upset about this, and fuming. Please tell me to get over it.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 24/05/2018 09:38

Why should you get over it instantaneously? Hope the note was suitably apologetic, and right that she should offer to replace it - so far, so unfortunate, but even though 'these things happen' you don't have to feel good about it!

Can b) be mended?
x

bibliomania · 24/05/2018 09:46

Congrats, seafour. The panicking about breathing sounds horrible, so great to have a night free from it!

Time, given your childhood, that makes complete sense why you're so upset - and even without that, it's bad form for your officemate and the mother to be so careless with your belongings. Really sorry - is it fixable?

NSV - felt like a nibble at bedtime and decided I fancied lettuce with some nice olive oil. Go me!

StuntNun · 24/05/2018 10:11

Gherkin if you're following the rules then you won't be putting on any fat but it's very easy to gain weight through water retention. My mindset for Bootcamp was I've lost weight then it's fat; if I've gained weight then it's water.

Seafour · 24/05/2018 10:18

Timeihadanamechange you have every right to be angry and upset. I was neglected as a child and like you there are certain things that I have and they are hugely important/precious to me. Is b repairable? Thanks

Rshard · 24/05/2018 10:21

Oh time that’s rubbish, I don’t blame you for being upset

AromaticSpices · 24/05/2018 11:14

Time - sorry to hear about the breakage, and the moving of your things. Very disrespectful. Hope you can get the broken item restored or find a replacement, although I know it's not the same. Flowers

DramaAlpaca · 24/05/2018 11:58

Time how awful. I'd be really upset too Flowers

ilove well done!

seafour glad you had a good sleep. I'm sleeping well too now, and waking refreshed instead of groggy.

I'm amused with my weight this week - I've been up & down the same pound since Monday. Today is a down day, so I'm happy. I had to tighten my Fitbit on my wrist today, so hoping that's a good sign too.

clare8allthepies · 24/05/2018 12:22

Lemon drizzle cake is baked and drizzled.....and I didn’t even lick my fingers! 😇

In Tesco this morning they had some really nice looking chicken dishes in the meat section, a few were carby but lots weren’t. I’ve got chicken breast with mozzarella and prosciutto for tonight, only 3.2g carbs!

farine · 24/05/2018 12:29

Anyone else feeling really cold? I am really cold - jumper, woolly socks and blanket type of cold! Husband wandering round in t shirt!
