Week 2 - May '18 Low Carb Bootcamp - my favourite week!

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet

I love this week, seeing how much weight people lose, and especially as it's always such a surprise for newbies and those who feared that this WOE wouldn't work!

I hope you've all seen good results.

If you haven't - don't despair, but have a think about the week just gone. Look at what you were eating/drinking and consider how well you followed Bootcamp rules.

Any problems, as ever, post them on the thread.

Hello fellow baguette sniffers. I just came back from a run and I may have chased a man holding a baguette for a couple of minutes (lots of jealous thoughts).

I have a stupid question. Is a bulletproof coffee the brand of coffee you have to use or is it just what your mixing normal coffee with?

Yarboosucks · 23/05/2018 21:31

After reading the thread updates, I finally got around to cooking dinner!

Garlic prawns, sautéed in olive oil, with boursin to make a sauce and an entire packet of baby spinach stirred in. Delish! DH had his portion on pasta (the devil's food!)

Lunch was a jumbo avocado with tuna mayo and 2 boiled eggs.

Breakfast was coffee with lactose free FF milk

bingefest · 23/05/2018 21:49

3 stone BPC is just a combination of your own coffee whizzed up with some butter and coconut oil. I’ve always made a cup of fresh ground coffee and then put a Tbs each of coconut oil and butter in one of those nutribullet type things and whizzed the coffee up with it. That way you get a nice creamy texture. I’ve always used it when I need a pep up - it’s very calorific - but good for hunger pangs and an energy boost . Not everyone likes it but I find it a good substitute for a cappuccino. I haven’t had one yet this boot camp as my new go to hunger stopper is a boiled egg mashed with butter. If I have an egg late afternoon at work it stops me being psychotically hungry when I get home and I behave like a normal human being . ( sort of ]

@Divette have you got the recipe for that cauli cheese? Looks lush!

B: Greek yoghurt and vanilla

L: 2 boiled eggs and salad with chunky cut veg and loads of mayo

D: chorizo mushroom and cheese frittata with root veg chips (I know they're not allowed but it was that or big fat chips the kids were having)

S: cheese, olives, 2 pepparami

Did a HIIT workout at the gym which I hope makes up for those chips Blush

Divette · 23/05/2018 21:59

For those who asked about the cauli cheese, the cheese sauce was double cream, big spoonful of full fat philadelphia, teaspoon of Dijon mustard, brought to the boil then add 2 handfuls of grated cheddar (I used mature). Cooked cauli and put in big dish, poured sauce over and another handful of cheese on top before bunging in oven for 20 mins. Really was delicious and will be a staple for us now for this definitely!

mickeymacca · 23/05/2018 22:06

Thanks @seafour 👍

Pebblespony · 23/05/2018 22:07

Loads of lovely food ideas here. Think we'll be having cauliflower cheese tomorrowGrin. Made a lovely broccoli & mature cheddar soup tonight. It was lovely. DH got a tooth pulled today so soup was a good option.

sheldonesque · 23/05/2018 22:08

Buttery eggs - breakfast on the hoof
Avocado, mayo dippy thing with parmesan crisps
Chilli coriander cream prawns with courgette ribbons

I'm not weighing till Monday but I do feel a bit better in myself. I haven't cheated. I've surprised myself.

I lived in the land of pasta for a while biwi
I ate half the national pasta mountain by the look of me Blush

Pebblespony · 23/05/2018 22:09

Quick question. Is coconut milk allowed (the tinned stuff)? I'm making a curry and I'm not sure.

BIWI · 23/05/2018 22:13

It's fine - but always check the label!

So many inspiring posts here, thank goodness,

I'm not losing but then I'm probably doing a few things wrong, like not drinking enough? I've never been big on drinking water or squash and I find it a real struggle. Today as well I binged on a bag of nuts while driving a long distance.

But tonight I've been out with colleagues for dinner and did really well! Even though it was really hard not to have chips or a pudding with my chicken, prawns and broccoli. I did have a glass of red wine though.

I'll keep going. Really need to lose though or I'll get demotivated and sabotage it all.

Pebblespony · 23/05/2018 22:16

Cheers.

Yesterday evening supper was veg soup followed by cheese omelette with roasted veg. Said to DH: “ this doesn’t feel much like a diet, does it?” And got the glorious reaction back “ No, it feels like a blow out!”

I’m going to try the recipe above for cauliflower cheese, which he adores and could eat almost every day, along with eggs and soup.

My broccoli soup recipe: cook enough broccoli to leave some over for soup. Use that, plus a couple of chicken stock cubes or thingies or real stock you’ve made from your roast chicken bones, plus water plus double cream plus salt plus pepper. Before this WoE I’d have added onions but no more, I’d have used fat free milk not double cream and water. Whizz everything up except for the double cream. Bring to the boil, add the cream. veg, liquid, fat... ta da...

Yarboosucks · 23/05/2018 22:34

Catbot - Why the sabotage? What would it take to stop it?
I have a reward programme…. At the moment it is 2 days no cheating, one new beauty product. Nothing expensive, but just something nice for me and my body. Have the full Aldi range now, including their rather fab Urban Decay eyeshadows!

OrlandaFuriosa · 23/05/2018 22:41

Tomorrow will be salade OrlandeFuriose

Tuna
Either sardines or Mackerel
Anchovies
Lettuce
French beans
Olives
Hard boiled eggs
Cucumber.

If I had any caoers I’d put those in too but I think the ones in my cupboard are vintage if not veteran.

Busy day today!

Late breakfast of leftover pork belly from yesterday. Intended to have something else later but had a massive blitz of the house and only just had time to shower and get ready before the preschool and school run.

Homemade lamb doner kebab, loads of salad and garlic sauce for dinner. Trying to think of something for tomorrow night as my partner is out for the evening so it’s just me for dinner.

Send me all your willpower for tomorrow, in the morning I’m making a massive lemon drizzle cake (which I adore) then in the evening I’m taking the girls to a fundraising ‘cake and pudding’ night at brownies where we’re supposed to pay to eat everyone else’s baking. I’m sure that my kids will eat enough to make up for me not partaking, I bet that I chew a lot of gum tomorrow! 😂

MrsBertBibby · 23/05/2018 23:08

Bloody hell that's cruel and unusual punishment Clare. It was hard enough keeping to the tiniest nibble of child-baked cookie today. Especially as it was a damned fine cookie.

OrlandaFuriosa · 23/05/2018 23:33

*capers

OrlandaFuriosa · 23/05/2018 23:33

Clare, I’ll think strengthening thoughts to you..

antimatter · 23/05/2018 23:53

did my weights in the gym today, maybe because I am just lifting not too heavy I didn't feel different to other days or didn't have to make them lighter
feel very happy also for doing 30 days of Yoga with Adrienne (this is huge achievement for me to be up at 6:40 to accomplish 30 min of exercise before work), I am on day 5 tomorrow
I am happier on days I do yoga Smile

LC is going well, 3 more pounds gone (6 in total so far since last Monday) and I feel I am going to be able to stick with my long term weight-loss this time.

ItsalmostSummer · 24/05/2018 02:03

Ahh I am tired today and am lacking sleep. Typically I’d have a glass of wine or chocolate (let’s be honest sugar). I am desperate but holding off. It will be ok :)

BIWI · 24/05/2018 05:54

@Catbot

Well of course it's not working, because you're not following the rules!

I can't understand your mindset. You want to lose weight but are knowingly self-sabotaging.

Thanks bingefest... might give it a go next week

@LeapinLizards

" LCing wasn't carte blanche to go mad with allowed food"

Thank you - this is really what I need to hear. Star Star Star

LeapinLizards · 24/05/2018 07:13

@mrscoyote, it really changed my thinking & therefore eating. I am, by nature, quite piggy & an emotional eater so I was self-sabotaging without even realising it. In addition, I'm very small in height & didnt have a lot to lose so it didn't take much to tip me over into eating too much & failing to lose the pounds.
