Week 2 - May '18 Low Carb Bootcamp - my favourite week!

BIWI · 21/05/2018 07:20

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet

I love this week, seeing how much weight people lose, and especially as it's always such a surprise for newbies and those who feared that this WOE wouldn't work!

I hope you've all seen good results.

If you haven't - don't despair, but have a think about the week just gone. Look at what you were eating/drinking and consider how well you followed Bootcamp rules.

Any problems, as ever, post them on the thread.

SummerRayne there's no need to count calories or macros from next week. BIWI's rules are designed to work without counting. The first two weeks of Bootcamp are lower carb to get you fat-adapted after which you can eat a few more carbs (nuts, berries, etc.) and keep losing weight.

littlebillie · 23/05/2018 07:30

Had a whoosh today and lost 3lb after nothing over the week.

BIWI · 23/05/2018 07:31

@RedPandaMama

1600 calories
50g carbs
94g fat
119g protein

As StuntNun says, if you're losing well, then you're obviously doing something right!

However, a couple of things you should know.

First, we don't count calories on Bootcamp!. As you get nearer your target then calories may come into play, but for now you needn't worry - as long as you're not piling your plate high with massive portions.

Second, you have your ratios the wrong way round. I'd look to up your fat so it's the highest proportion of your diet, followed by protein and then carbs.

I dreamt that ate not one, but two massive cupcakes last night Confused

I don't really even like cake!

Luki · 23/05/2018 07:41

That's so strange. I had a cupcake dream last night too. Blush Then I woke up very angry at DP for letting me eat them. Poor man was very confused.

Having a fat day today. Feeling huge and everything I've tried on makes me look lumpy and shapeless. Don't want to risk jumping on the scales.

On the plus side, I've slept well and managed not to cave last night when I was craving sugar. Smile

Iamnotacerealkiller · 23/05/2018 07:57

Usually at this stage I start having Intense food dreams. Usually pizza then spend the following day wracked with guilt and having to remind myself I hadn't actually eaten it!

MyShinyThing · 23/05/2018 07:59

Morning everyone, I have woken up feeling awful this morning! I thought I'd missed out on the carb flu but this morning my legs are so heavy & everything seems to ache! I'm also still struggling with the diarrhoea. Any tips to sort it out?

The cream for my coffee was off this morning, I won't tell you how I realised Envy. I made a bullet proof coffee instead which has hit the spot.

I made for dinner last night https://juliasalbum.com/chicken-with-bacon-mustard-sauce/ added a bit of cream & it was delicious. I was quite surprised at myself, I fished up a huge plate full with mashed swede & buttered asparagus. Usually I'd just eat the lot & then be stuff but last night I took half off the plate to take to work today! I've never done that before. And I was completely satisfied with none of the horrible bloated feeling!

Well done where for kicking the sugar, I remember how hard that is. Now if I accidentally have a sip of DHs I have to spit it out as it's so sweet.

And really well done seafour, that sounds like a very difficult day. I've lurked on previous boot camps & you've always been a bit of an inspiration.

Welcome aboard to all the new people.

Have a fab day.

My son is making cookies in school today. Moop.

Hopefully he will offload a bunch on his dad after school before I pick him up tonight.

RuffleBelly · 23/05/2018 08:05

Can anyone reassure me about yesterday’s lunch (two boiled eggs, a few spinach leaves, chicken breast with skin, blue cheese). I’m still obsessing over it a bit as being unhealthy / imbalanced / too much. It didn’t look right on the plate if that makes sense!

Rshard · 23/05/2018 08:07

Morning all

After two boot camps without suffering, I’m not constipated and it’s making me feel a bit nauseous so I need to get it sorted. Especially as we’re away from Thursday night.

Leelaseye · 23/05/2018 08:07

Well done for staying with it yesterday seafour Flowers

I seem to be in the worst 2 weeks of my year so far for going out for lunches...Wagamama's today. Anyone know what's good on the menu that doesn't have noodles, rice or breadcrumbs?!

RuffleBelly · 23/05/2018 08:09

@MyShinyThing that sounds delicious and is going on my meal plan for next week! Did you reduce the stock and replace with cream or just add cream at the end?

I don’t really get on with swede but could eat that with a side of greens quite happily and DH can have mashed potato then!

Justmuddlingalong · 23/05/2018 08:13

Since this bootcamp's started, as of this morning I'm down 7.4lb. Half a bloody stone. I lost nearly 2 stone on a previous bootcamp, but over a couple of years I crept back up by nearly a stone. I faffed about half heartedly, but with my summer holidays looming, I needed to knuckle down, so I have and look at the result! It really does work and I'd like to thank @BIWI and everyone else for the hints, recipes and advice. Flowers Have a great day. KOKO

farine · 23/05/2018 08:15

@RuffleBelly I'm no expert but your lunch seems ok to me. Possibly a tad too much protein with eggs and chicken, and maybe throw in a bit more salad next time? But not a meal that screams out as being awful to me.

Seafour · 23/05/2018 08:15

Thank you to everyone who sent supportive messages following my difficult day yesterday. Normally I would have come home and had several large drinks with crisps and dinner that involved chips.
Instead I opened a bottle of fizzy water, cuddled some rabbits and spent almost three hours chatting to best friend (who also happens to be my eldest daughter) in New Zealand.

Instead of a bloated tummy and sore head I will have a huge phone bill. Which I'm happy with.

Giraffeski (waves) well done for spotting the very subtle name changeGrin

I have a question for those who make their own version of bulletproof/butter coffee. Does it taste really slimy and how do you get over the oilyness of it?
I adore my coffee and drink far too much, happy to have it black and that's how I have it most of the time.
I've been replacing my two breakfast cappuccinos with a creamy coffee and want to try bulletproof to cut down my dairy intake.

Food today:

B two eggs & avocado
L celery sticks with cream cheese
D home made burger with veg

Rshard · 23/05/2018 08:17

I’ve saved that recipe myshinything, it looks so nice. Thanks

farine · 23/05/2018 08:24

@Leelaseye just taken a look at the Wagamama menu - and if it was me I'd choose

Starter: shredded crispy duck (as long as no pancakes) bang bang cauliflower or wok fried greens (or indeed order all these as 'main') possibly beer tataki too.

Main: steak bolgobi without the noodles, shirodashi raman without noodles, pad Thai salad without the dressing

Side: bang bang cauliflower or wok fried greens to up the fat content

There may be a nutritional info guide somewhere you can check too?

Enjoy and let us know what you went for! Making myself hungry looking at the menu!! Yum yum

MyShinyThing · 23/05/2018 08:32

I just added cream right at the end @RuffleBelly my only tip would be don't add extra salt. I forgot how salty bacon is & seasoned it as usual, it was a little bit too salty but still tasty. To be honest the mash was probably overkill & just having it with green veg would have been fine. But now I have extra for lunch today so not complaining.

Your lunch yesterday sounds fine to me if you were in a jam, maybe just some extra greens next time. I like M&S's Greek side salad and their chilli & lime prawns when I go there for lunch.

@Seafour I use a teaspoon each of butter & coconut oil & the blitz with a stick blender. It sort of froths up a bit like a latte & goes a creamy colour. I don't find it oily but it is very good for moisturising your lips

Half a stone is amazing @Justmuddlingalong well done!

Iamnotacerealkiller · 23/05/2018 08:42

As i thought i have lost lots of weight overnight being 'unwell' im going to cut out the fenugreek today and see what happens.

Feel completly empty, just had breakfast but still feel hollow. will spend the day filling back up and the hopefully retain what i have lost but not counting on it as it was 1.5pounds in 24hours.

Hi all, I've been very silent on this BC, but dipping in and out and it's lovely hearing all the success stories and inspirational photos, thanks guys.

A good week for me last week, I was 5 lbs down on Monday and another 1lb this morning, so going in the right direction!

I am doing pretty well in the evenings, my absolute Achilles heel, with my husband working nights, but have resisted 90% of the time Blush and the two occasions i have slipped have been the Aldi 85% chocolate mini bars which are about 4g carbs each, so not too horrendous.

Water is the absolute key for me. I just won't lose if I don't drink it.

KOKO everyone Flowers

StuntNun · 23/05/2018 09:29

Leela in Wagamamas everything is made to order so they're great about customising things to exactly how you want them.

itchyknees · 23/05/2018 09:35

Morning all! For the first time in the 10 days we have been at this, I started craving carbs!Sad
I haven’t given in but it’s shocked me.

In other news I made low carb shepherds pie, you substitute the mash with mashed cauliflower. It was hugely filling.

Ruffle your lunch looked fine to me, but I’m hardly an expert!

Seafour · 23/05/2018 09:47

Thanks shiny I will give it a try.

AromaticSpices · 23/05/2018 10:19

Morning all!

I had a big pang this morning while looking at my colleague's delicious (but very high carb) breakfast. Sad that I just cannot eat it in moderation, resulting in my weight. But also feeling positive that I am doing something about it, and also that I feel so much healthier already and can already notice differences. My tummy is much flatter. My watch is definitely looser (although wedding ring feels tight Hmm). I did cave yesterday and had something non 2-week friendly but still sort of bootcamp light - one of those nut bars, with dark choc underneath. I didn't feel full from lunch.... so will try and remedy that today. Doh. Will KOKO.

Food today:

B: -
L: crab meat/mayo/egg delight from M&S, tub of their buttered green veg (which comes with peas; will remove these).
D: Chicken drumsticks, garlic creamy mushrooms, broccoli.
S: edam slice or two

Justmuddlingalong · 23/05/2018 11:01

I had a moment the other day. DP had a baguette. I actually had a sniff of it when he cut it open. No carbs in a sniff though.
