Week 2 - May '18 Low Carb Bootcamp - my favourite week!

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet

I love this week, seeing how much weight people lose, and especially as it's always such a surprise for newbies and those who feared that this WOE wouldn't work!

I hope you've all seen good results.

If you haven't - don't despair, but have a think about the week just gone. Look at what you were eating/drinking and consider how well you followed Bootcamp rules.

Any problems, as ever, post them on the thread.

@Somewhereoverthesanddune I remember that Hungarians love pork. I hope you can find something on the menu there.

Laska5772 · 22/05/2018 18:22

well people seem to be eating a lot more than me. On Sunday I was a lb less than my recorded weight yesterday ( and today) and ive stuck totally to the plan ( had loads of water and 'moved'!) . so I wonder if im not eating enough ?

So today I have had;
B: 2ggs scrambled in butter

L Steak and blue cheese salad with watercress rocket and spinach, celery and cue, good glug of olive oil
s: a 20g packet f of pork cracking straws

D: turkey mince and courgette stir fried in Evoo and brocolli..
Ive already gone well over my water limit .

Am stuffed now

Absolutely loving this thread - although it's hard to keep up with the messages so I keep placemarking with my own posts!

Went out for lunch today to Nandos, my absolute favourite food ever. I usually get the Fino pitta (chicken thighs in a pitta bread with salad and sweet onion chutney) with peri-chips and supergrain. That would have been like 130g of carbs. Instead I got 4 chicken thighs and halloumi, and had a tiny bit of lemon and herb sauce. Loving how my macros look so far today Grin

This is the first 'diet' I've ever been on where I haven't cheated at every chance. I'm actually amazed.

Well I just had a homemade bunless ‘sausage and egg mcmuffin’ And it was amazing and JUST like the real thing! I admit to the TEENIEST bit of ketchup for authenticity so hope BIWI spares me the stick, but thanks to the person who recommended the sausage patties-they’re delish!

Evening all - I'm a week behind as couldn't get myself motivated last week. Started yesterday and haven't yet seemed to have developed 'the flu' - it usually hits me by the end of day one so not sure if I've managed to avoid it this time Grin or if it will catch up with me!

What is the opinion of Dairylea with this WOE? I've previously used the triangles for snacks (yummmm) but not actually too sure if they would be lc enough because of the milk content - any ideas?

Bumblebee2302 · 22/05/2018 19:56

I NEED those sausage patties!! Where are they from/what is the recipe please?

Yarboosucks · 22/05/2018 20:08

Lunch today was my beloved roasted broccoli with chilli and two boiled eggs with mayo

Dinner will be pork belly strip and sausages (low carb) with mushrooms and broccoli rice.

YUM

Divette · 22/05/2018 20:09

Bumblebee they’re these ones -only 0.6g carb per patty and really nice actually!

Are they fresh or frozen?

3stonedown · 22/05/2018 20:14

Than a lonesurvivor I've downloaded libra which I should remember to update more than a spreadsheet

significantfish · 22/05/2018 20:14

Hello lurker here. Absolutely loving this thread!

I half heartedly low carbed for a few days before Bootcamp and then started to take it more seriously with you all on the 14th.

I lost two pounds in the first week which I'm happy with considering I had a bit of a blip involving quite a lot of Prosecco. Oops. I'm looking to lose pretty much 2 stone exactly and would love it gone by the end of the year.

Couple of things I've discovered, might be useful to someone. I went hunting for Mr. Porky strips today but there was no sign in M&S or Tesco so I ended up buying some pork scratchings/rind from Poundland. I'm not a fan normally but these are quite addictive! They're from The Real Pork Crackling Company and they come in a pack of 5 x 20g packets. Also Lidl full fat (Batts) Real mayonnaise is lovely and only 1.5g carbs per 100g.

We'd got into a bit of a food rut recently and this past week has changed things up - I've been eating loads of interesting things and haven't been snacking which is unbelievable for me. I'm feeling confident I'll avoid the booze and have a good loss this week.

Thanks everyone for sharing tips and menus and losses etc. And thanks Biwi for keeping us on track!

Divette · 22/05/2018 20:15

They’re frozen. They cook from frozen-only 8 mins

Yarboosucks · 22/05/2018 20:15

Thanks!

RuffleBelly · 22/05/2018 20:26

Evening everyone. Well I had a planning fail today and ended up in M&S looking for lunch. Every salad had pasta, potatoes, rice or similar!

Some chicken skewers looked good until I checked the packet - invisible breadcrumbs and sugar, who knew.

So I ended up with two boiled eggs, a sprinkle of spinach, a plain skin on chicken breast and mini blue cheese. It was odd, I was very full and couldn’t really decide if it was okay, too much food, too much protein or what really.

But it was better than Diet Coke, crisps and a sandwich!

Lonesurvivor · 22/05/2018 20:47

3stonedown I hadn't used it since I started in March but I went back on and input all my weighs I'd recorded on myfitnesspal since then.
I'd forgotten how much I love it, it shows predicted weigh loss trends, when you will reach goal going on the data you input, what your weekly/monthly loss is and trending weight.
I remember finding it good to track fluctuations, I used to have a pattern weigh loss wise of lose a fair bit one week, a little for the two following weeks, nothing/gain for the next week and back again to week 1. It took a good few months to see the pattern emerge but it really helped me know how my body worked.

Bumblebee2302 · 22/05/2018 20:51

Divette, thanks so much - I'll be having a look out for them!

UnimaginativeUsername · 22/05/2018 20:53

@JuneBalloon I’m not a fan of pork scratchings either. I find they dry my mouth out to the point I feel like I’m being dessicated! Eating a packet does ensure that I drink loads of water though.

Nonetheless I had some today because I had to do a stupid amount of driving, and pork scratchings are something you can easily eat in a car. Other than that I’ve mostly eaten eggs today with a Greek salad for lunch.

DS2 has his coeliac diagnosis confirmed today, so he’ll be starting a GF diet when he comes home from his school trip tomorrow. There’s no point in starting it while he’s staying in an outdoor activities centre. It’s a good job that bootcamp is so coeliac friendly! Grin Although DS2 is not a huge fan of vegetables, and particularly not salad (which he refuses to acknowledge is even a food).

wherehavealltheflowersgone · 22/05/2018 21:06

Evening all, struggling with hunger today and ended up eating half a cupcake my ds has made at school because after dinner I felt so unfilled!

B: Greek yoghurt with vanilla extract
(The posh no sugar one)

L: salad with avo, mozzarella and bacon and olive oil

D: cod steak with melted herby cream cheese and FLGV

After dinner I was still starving so I then ate: olives, babybel, pork scratchings, more Greek yoghurt mixed with cream, few slices of cheddar and a pepperami and the half cupcake Sad

I'm drinking 3L water a day.

Feeling a bit despondent which can usually make me have a serious case of the "fuck it's" and thus self sabotage so I'm also going to tell you how proud I am that I haven't had sugar in my tea or coffee for 3 weeks now, breaking a 30 year habit! Smile

Mueslibox · 22/05/2018 21:10

Sorry which app is it people are using?

B: eggs and sm salmon
L: salad and Caesar dressing, prosciutto and salami, some chopped stir fried veg
D: lettuce and avocado with lots of dressing, chicken breast and broccoli

Also have a very smart party to go to (media/minor slebby) and have outrageous dress that only works with flat tummy etc.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 22/05/2018 21:13

I'm very proud of you, Where Flowers

wherehavealltheflowersgone · 22/05/2018 21:15

Thank you so much @AthelstaneTheUnready that made me cry! FFS!

UnimaginativeUsername · 22/05/2018 21:16

Managing to break a 30 year habit is very impressive @wherehavealltheflowersgone.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 22/05/2018 21:24

oh no! Down to 2.95 litres then, quick, drink some more!

Lonesurvivor · 22/05/2018 21:27

musliebox the app mentioned earlier was C25K (couch to 5k) a running app.
The one I mentioned was Libra app, one for tracking your weight lost trends and statistics.

Yarboosucks · 22/05/2018 21:29

Umm…. What is FLGV?

Wherehave I don't think you are eating enough protein and FAT
