Wow! This is the first time I've had to start a second thread this early!

Please continue to post all your meals, ideas, questions, woes, successes etc here!

I'm currently on a train Oop North with very dodgy wifi so can't guarantee I will see or be able to answer all your questions, but I'll do my best.

Also, tomorrow I'm at a funeral Sad so won't be around very much

No to lime cordial. It's way, way, way too carby

A slice of fresh lime/lemon is as far as you can go!

Good luck on the run @farine - hope you don't struggle with it too much so early on in low carbing.

Really sorry, haven't read the thread through as it moves so quickly Shock

So the flu has hit and it took all my time to get my fat ass out of bed. Hopefully it'll shift over the next few days and the fog will lift.

How's everyone finding it? I'm actually doing alright and not craving sugar at all or carbs. Even went to McDonalds with the kids and had a very odd looking bunless burger!

Keep on keeping on everyone

BIWI · 19/05/2018 09:56

Roses Lime Cordial, diluted as recommended, 4.9g carbs per 100ml.

Not quite sure how this translates to a shot of lime cordial in your vodka, but this suggests to me that it's too sugary.

I had a bit of a struggle at the shop this morning - it's going to be a glorious hot sunny day, everyone's celebrating, I have nothing to do but potter about the garden... and to complete the whole I usually have a bottle few glasses of wine under the sunshade.

Which led to a whiney few minutes. Blush

Bought some Perrier and a lemon. Gave myself a strict lecture on how dehydration, liver damage, headaches, wrinkly skin, and weight gain are not a 'treat'.

clare8allthepies · 19/05/2018 10:03

@Chattycatty I’m pretty sure Tesco and Asda do a no added sugar own brand lime cordial. They’re not as nice as Roses and full of sweeteners obvs but better than loads of sugar.

Cannot believe that I didn’t have a drink last night, my DP ‘helpfully’ bought some slimline tonic to have with vodka as he knew I was avoiding wine but I resisted! Sausage egg and cheese muffin less muffins for breakfast this morning. Just about to browse the Tesco website for some weekend meal ideas.

blackteaplease · 19/05/2018 10:07

Clare8 there's loads of recipe threads in the bootcamp chat topic and also diet doctor website. They may be easier than Tesco as they are tailored to LCHF.

BIWI · 19/05/2018 10:09

It's quite sobering (pardon the pun Grin) to realise just how hard it is to go without alcohol, isn't it?

I tried to do Dry February (as I was on holiday in January so wasn't doing Dry January!), but only managed 10 days.

Chattycatty · 19/05/2018 10:10

Thanks all I’ll stick with a slice or plain soda and sorry for making you twitch BIWI.

RuffleBelly · 19/05/2018 10:17

Good luck with your half @farine

Well Parkrun was a disaster today, I’ve done approaching 200 Parkruns and I’m pretty sure today will be one of my slowest, slower than when I was running it two weeks before giving birth! The first km felt like the 30th km in a marathon (where I hit my wall) and then the second km I was trying to push through it. A lot of people asked if I was coming down with something. I finished without walking but had no energy at all.

Tomorrow I have a four hour kayak so I’m hoping my energy levels are better because it could leave me in trouble in tidal water.

I just keep telling myself that losing weight will help me be faster and stronger long term. The scales better show something happening Monday!

traceyturnblatt · 19/05/2018 10:24

One hungover LCB checking in 🤢

Gin is not my friend today!

Kleptronic · 19/05/2018 10:28

Wow rayna so fast! Good luck farine for your half, I am in awe.

Someone at parkrun this morning asked if I was doing the Liverpool marathon tomorrow, I almost wet myself laughing.

antimatter · 19/05/2018 10:41

@RuffleBelly I did my gym weights session on Thursday and got tired sooner, had to use lower weights and started sweating much sooner. I think we depleted our glycogen and our body is not yet efficient at using fat for energy. Many young guys at my office are on ketogenic diet and are exercising a lot. I need to pick up their brains next week. I am going to the gym sometime today. It will be interesting for me to see if my body improved.

clare8allthepies · 19/05/2018 10:48

Ooh good call on the diet doctor website for ideas blackteaplease I was mainly looking on the Tesco website to see what was on special offer 😂

farine · 19/05/2018 10:58

@RuffleBelly - that sounds horrid - feeling very nervous about tomorrow now! I've stayed off exercise since Wednesday as 1) I want to conserve what energy I've got and 2) I was worried if they were terrible they'd mess my head up for tomorrow.

You are right though, we need to focus on the long term goal and benefits and accept that there will be a drop in performance.

It's so warm here in Liverpool, if the lack of carbs don't get me, the heat will!

I am nervous but kind of excited too - thinking about that medal at the end.

mickeymacca · 19/05/2018 11:02

well done everyone for resisting the alcohol!!! I stupidly weighed this morning and was a bit fed up that I've stayed the same. I feel loads better though my stomach not so bloated. I do reckon there's 3lb poo blocking things up thoughGrinBlush

TheyBuiltThePyramids · 19/05/2018 11:39

I am terrible as I could not resist the wine. Woke about 6am with a banging head ache. I've had a boiled egg and a greek yoghurt and a leftover sausage for breakfast. We're going to an Italian tonight which worries me slightly. Hoping for a steak.

RuffleBelly · 19/05/2018 11:40

@farine it was slower than my first 5km five weeks after my emergency c-section! I really hope your run today fares better than mine!

theoldtrout01876 · 19/05/2018 12:10

Morning people. Id like to confess I did not manage to dodge the rum last night. I was doing so well, got to 9 pm and the shit hit the fan with my adult daughter, after a very fraught day of shit from her. I caved and had a glass of rum. I dont drink coke or anything in my rum, just water so I guess it could have been worse. Today isnt shaping up to be great either but hopefully I will dodge the rum tonight as Im now mentally prepared for the shit.
Happy Saturday

borowren · 19/05/2018 12:22

Struggling tonight as I'm going to a fundraising event with a set menu meal, Italian themed!
Have bought salad to take with me...planning to resist alcohol, pasta and bread and hopefully the tiramisu but not worry too much about the rest.
Should minimise the damage I hope.
Wish me luck!

@DDIJ how long have you been lchf-ing? If it's only been the 5 days of this week, could there be something else going on? Sounds really frustrating, sorry to hear it.

Eolian · 19/05/2018 13:13

Managed to avoid alcohol last night but faced a tough challenge being surrounded by cakes and scones at the school spring fayre this morning. Made it through though!

B: Greek yoghurt, double cream and cinnamon
L: salad with tuna, cheese, avocado etc
D: Lamb chops with roast veg and spinach

DDIJ how much water are you drinking, is it the right amount for your weight? There's a list on the spreadsheet of how many litres for each weight category. I think BIWI has said if we are bloated (and I reckon it must be bloating, it's only day 5) you need to drink more water. Also where are you in your cycle, as that could have an effect?

If you write out your water/meals I'm sure someone can advise you.

OrlandaFuriosa · 19/05/2018 14:10

Dismal failure just now, shared sandwiches with DH. So kind of him to get them but he just doesn’t get no bread. Things tricky here so didn’t want to cause an upset or row. Will address a bit later on. Still, three days forward, one day back, and no need to compound the felony...

Street party tomorrow..
