Morning campers Flowers

Here's the SoF

From last week's thread it sounds like most people are managing to stick on track for most of the time, which is great.

We have four full weeks left, so still time to make a big difference.

Hope this week goes well.

When I initially jumped on the scales this morning they read 9 6.3 but that didn't seem right so I tried again, twice, and both times they said 3.6 so I don't know. I'm taking the second reading for now but I'll see what they say tomorrow. If they're at 4 or 5 I'll go for the higher reading today. If they're 3 or below I'll stick with the 3.6.

The weekend wasn't too bad, food wise. Spent Saturday at the shops which was great, had a naked burger at Giraffe which, though it came with some beany things in the salad wouldn't have been too much overall and was very yummy. Only problem was that we didn't eat until about 4 so didn't have dinner when we got home, which meant that my subsequent alcohol consumption (1.5 glasses of wine, 2 cans of cider) got me very drunk!

Yesterday was the usual Sunday brunch and roast dinner. Only DP disappeared for the afternoon drinking with his toxic friend, then came back and disappeared into his shed, despite knowing that dinner was nearly ready, so we didn't eat until just before 9. Never mind! Did mean I skipped my weekly treat of pudding, though.

Was slightly (very) peeved that friends who were meant to come round yesterday never appeared, as they were supposed to be meeting the animals in preparation for looking after them at the weekend. Will see one of them today so will find out what happened. Am thinking about getting her phone number and texting her twice-daily reminders!

In other news, I was at the gym this morning and did the last workout of C25K week 1. Am feeling delighted with myself! Did the last run at 5mph which was interesting. Almost started wheezing but managed to keep it under control. At least it will mean the longer runs on Wednesday won't seem so bad!

prettybird · 20/11/2017 11:35

Saw 12 stone 7 3/4lb on the scales this morning - but will only log a 1lb loss and a weight of 12 stone 8lb. That's 9lb this Boot Camp, 33lb since end of May Smile. My Lowvember target of 12 stone 5lb is still within sight - but will be challenging. But there again, that's the point of a challenge! May end up doing an egg fast next week! Grin

It's brilliant to see all the positivity, even amongst those that have STS, put on or have been facing challenges (like a sabotaging dh Wink)

sos1993 · 20/11/2017 11:50

So disappointed in myself. Every time I hit 10 stone 13, I self sabotage and put 2 pounds back on. A real carby twat of a weekend. I must do better

LtheWife · 20/11/2017 12:42

I have another sabotaging DH here and a week without drinking anywhere near enough water. Expected to gain this week because of it so pleasantly surprised to see a 1.1lb loss this morning. That makes for a 6lb loss this so far this bootcamp which didn't seem great to be honest. I need to remember that I'm not new to LCHF though so can't expect to see huge losses any more. It still adds up to 4% of my body weight gone since the beginning of October which isn't to be sniffed at.

NSV wise I'm able to comfortably wear an old pair of jeans again, had to return a new winter coat because I'd ordered a size too large and a flat stomach seems to have appeared this last week.

Really fancying a baked camembert at the moment but struggling with ideas for what to dunk in it as I'm not a fan of celery. Tempted to turn it into a Tartiflette type dish with celeriac instead of potato.

SoMuchToBits · 20/11/2017 12:48

I have stayed the same this week, despite staying completely on track except for one small glass of dry white wine.

Oh well, maybe I will have lost something by next week! At least I haven't put any on.

HolgerDanske · 20/11/2017 12:55

With Camembert, maybe half a protein roll cut into thin slices and baked to crisp them up a little? I also make crudités from any number of veg to eat with baked cheese: carrots, Cherry tomatoes halved, cucumber etc.

Scabbersley · 20/11/2017 13:23

Blood pressure taken and annoyingly I can't remember what it was! I think she said 140/90 which she said was very normal and good - now I've googled it it says 140/90 is actually quite high! Maybe she said 140/80 :-/ anyway she's booked me some blood tests and an eeg, but she thinks its probably the menopoause, just making me feel generally shit and causing the pounding heart feeling.

pimmsy · 20/11/2017 13:29

I was stupid this weekend and had a bit of a carb fest. I managed to stay on track food wise, but ate out for three meals and had wine with all of them. I've just weighed in though and still managed to lose 0.9kg. Will be avoiding alcohol this week.

Grah0SoontobeaFitty · 20/11/2017 13:50

@Gammeldragz
Had similar feelings after 2 lettuce burgers from A&W (No bun)
Compounded by getting house ready for open house and viewings. So no cooking spices aromatics. Chicken salad was a week bit repetitive last week. But 5lb up from 2 weeks ago so must be retaining something.

Didn't take any vitamins and minerals last week got some weekend so started today with double dose KOKO
Hope you all are having fun on day 1 of 28.
Keep the focus for just 28 days

pimmsy · 20/11/2017 14:01

Oh, and to those thinking of tartiflette, yesterday I had lunch with my sister's husbands parents and they were having tartiflette and as I'd said I was low carb she made me ( and let me here express some unmumsnetty extended in law love ) a whole roasted cauliflower that she had then turned upside down in a dish, she'd emptied out the stem and middle and then filled the hole with fried lardons and onions and covered it with raclette cheese and grilled it. It was fabulous and also very pretty.

Cherrypi · 20/11/2017 14:20

Half a pound on which I deserved. Never thought my target of losing 3lbs by November would be so hard to achieve. Celeriac mash with cheese is amazing.

Grah0SoontobeaFitty · 20/11/2017 14:52

@scabbersley
diet doc

Did you track your salts and verify carb numbers in an app like they suggested?

I missed all my key vitamins last week and by Saturday was getting twitches in led and chest like having a phone on vibrate in you pocket.

Brought all the magnesium and b12 etc and started again today.

Good luck and try not to stress it makes your heart beat faster.

Veryflummoxed · 20/11/2017 15:06

@pimmsy your extended in law deserves Flowers and that sounds like a fantastic idea. Did it taste good too?

pimmsy · 20/11/2017 15:10

@Veryflummoxed
It was absolutely delicious. And my extended in-laws take every possible occasion to sole handly right the wrongs of all in-laws in the world.

LtheWife · 20/11/2017 15:33

Baked protein roll sounds like a good idea for baked camembert. The baked cauliflower with raclette cheese sounds delicious Pimmsy, how lovely of your extended in-laws.

Rshard · 20/11/2017 16:17

@pimmsy that cauliflower dish sounds amazing, how nice of your extended in laws

Velocity · 20/11/2017 17:35

I’m a little bit up on last week but it was expected as I’ve been travelling for work including long haul flights (which are not low carb friendly). In pretty happy with the food choices I made but now back to boot camp!

BrassicaBabe · 20/11/2017 17:39

So I saw 10.6 and I saw 10.5 during the week but weighed in this morning at 10.7.2. Which I think is 0.2 off since last week. I’ll do the xls tomorrow. Hey ho. It’s still a loss. (I need to keep the wine in check this week)

I’m going to settle on a goal of 10.2. That’ll be 10% off. I’d like to maintain that before rethinking a new goal.

KOKO al! Grin

TheMonkeysOnTheTable · 20/11/2017 17:56

I’ve not really been on the threads lately but have been KOKOing and have lost 1lb this week - which means I’ve lost 1st on bootcamp altogether. Really happy with that!

I’ll try and keep up this week. I’m getting a bit dairy based meal wise at the mo so could do with some inspiration from all your meal plans.

Well done to everyone else who is still here

prettybird · 20/11/2017 18:06

@sos1993 - we're here for support to help you stop sabotaging. Smile Do you have any ideas why you might be - or do you just want the Big Stick? Or are you scared of actually getting to your target? You need to believe you are worth it Flowers

Brassicababe - you will see those weights again more permanently. Sometimes we oscillate around them, before they move down permanently. You just need to believe in yourself and keep your focus.

Scabbersley · 20/11/2017 18:26

Grah0SoontobeaFitty that's interesting. I've boutght some lo salt and will KOKO and see if it resolves. I do take magnesium but I am crap at remembering to take vitamins

YoLoNovVitMe · 20/11/2017 18:29

pimmsy you should know that we on BC expect a photo of said Lovely Dish food porn or it didnt happen. Your rellies sound amazing!

stunt I can't help picking up on your post about DH sabotaging you yet again. Can you have an honest talk with him about respecting your choices and supporting you? Sorry not sorry if I'm meddling. And what about your willpower? You are allowed to say No Thank You. You have been doing this long enough to realise that your feelings are just as important and your food choices are your responsibility. But you know this.
If you are using him as an excuse then you need to be honest with yourself. Harsh I know. I'm giving you some tough love. Smile

ilovecherries · 20/11/2017 18:36

Well, having thought I'd STS, I weighed myself after the gym and suddenly lost 3lbs. That won't be reliable for another 1-2 weeks, but it was a new weight seen for the first time, so it cheered me up. Trying an almond milk milkshake with vanilla and frozen berries for my poor jaw.

AveAtqueVale · 20/11/2017 18:38

TheMonkeys I’m also 1lb down this week which makes it a stone down this boot camp! I’d like to get comfortably down into the next stone bracket by Christmas though which I reckon means losing another 5-6lbs which I’m not sure is feasible as progress has been slower the last week or so. Will see. Congratulations on the stone though and to everyone else for losing or just sticking with it!

StuntNun · 20/11/2017 18:49

YoLo my DH hasn't properly got the hang of Bootcamp at all. So on Saturday he made Brie in breadcrumbs "it's just a thin layer of breadcrumbs" and steak with a cheese sauce thickened with flour "it's only an ounce of flour". It works okay for him but I have a very low carb tolerance and too many carbs triggers hunger and cravings so I'll end up overeating low carb food or eating carby crap. And then I look like the guilty party if I'm eating e.g. crisps when in fact it's because my insulin levels have got out of whack again. On Friday I think he meant well because I asked him to pick up something from the takeaway when he was collecting DS2 from Scouts, expecting chicken wings or dry ribs or similar. He came back with syrupy beef in honey and chilli sauce and chips! I'm not the best one for willpower so when a bowl of chips and sweet Chinese food is thrust at me then I will eat it out of a combination of politeness, not wanting to waste food, and the food simply being in front of me. It's pissing me off because I would like to lose a few pounds (I regained a bit of weight last year while struggling with depression but figured you can only fight one battle at a time). I do brilliantly during the week when I'm cooking then it all gets undone at the weekend.
