Week 7 - Low Carb Bootcamp - Still with us?!

BIWI · 20/11/2017 07:31

Morning campers Flowers

Here's the SoF

From last week's thread it sounds like most people are managing to stick on track for most of the time, which is great.

We have four full weeks left, so still time to make a big difference.

Hope this week goes well.

If you're on an iPhone, you can bookmark - swipe to the left and then click on the little book mark sign. Sometimes, I find it doesn't want to "take" (it should go dark purple), but I find it works on the previous post Confused

It then re-opens to that post - and to see newer posts, you click on "see older yes really posts" Confused

You can then "flip" if you want to or because there have been so many new posts to see the most recent post first.

Rshard · 24/11/2017 13:13

I’m a bit further south in Derbyshire furry but it’s gorgeous here too

Scabbersley · 24/11/2017 13:18

Saw 12.1 again for a second this morning but as I always seem to gain a pound or two over the weekend I am expecting a STS on Monday.

B: fasting
L: huge lettuce salad with tuna in oil, egg, avocado and LOTS of that amazing delouis mayo. Greek yogurt with raspberries

nothing now until D which is hm chilli - mine without the kidney beans and with lots of chili oil - NOM

I am going to have wine tonight. Didn't seem to stall me last week but we shall see. Its very dry and white!

Scabbersley · 24/11/2017 13:21

i haven;t been drinking as much water this week either. I feel better for not drinking quite as much, it has to be said. I've probably been drinking 1.5/2 l a day, plus decaff coffee and bovril.

FurryTurnip · 24/11/2017 14:15

Thanks so much PrettyBird! I'm not on an iPhone but after your suggestion I spotted a flip option and that's done the trick.

Rshard it's a gorgeous day isn't it? Sadly I don't live in the Peaks just went up for a walk, to get away from people and all the busyness, but foolishly parked at Chatsworth. Had forgotten the Christmas markets were on, so all the people I was trying to avoid were there....

Rshard · 24/11/2017 14:47

Chatsworth is a traffic nightmare furry, beautiful though, a family fave for us

Gammeldragz · 24/11/2017 14:49

scabbers one of the consultants at work was talking about people drinking too much water and how our natural state is slightly hypovolaemic. Apparently we mess up our electrolytes if we drink too much. I wanted to say "but we lose more weight!" But I didn't...

ClearEyesFullHearts · 24/11/2017 16:13

hypovolaemic

ClearEyesFullHearts · 24/11/2017 16:18

I've come to the conclusion I don't want my natural state to be hypovolaemic.

Grimbles · 24/11/2017 16:35

I'm peed off Angry

I've managed to gain a pound somehow. If that wasn't bad enough, my husband who follows this woe in a half assed manner has clocked up a loss of 20lbs and now weighs the same as me.

FML

ClearEyesFullHearts · 24/11/2017 17:01

Grimbles think nothing of it.

  1. Scales only reflect overall progress, not day-to-day.
  1. Ignore your husband's weight loss. With apologies to Grah and in no way diminishing his hard work (nor your husband's "half-assed" work), men generally lose weight more easily than women. Pfft.
  1. If you're following this WOE consistently, you will get to where you want to be. I look forward to that day on your behalf.
  1. All that aside, you're allowed a FML moment. We all are. A mere 1lb gain can set off anyone trying to lose weight, so it's understandable.

Focus on being good to yourself this weekend.

YoLoElfSocks I remember - vodka reference from Wednesday --
The first time I used the vodka bottle at work there was a few looks. Fun was watching their expressions. lucky no one asked for a taste, as no need to wash out a vodka bottle before re-use.

C4 had some strange daydream thoughts, you being well enough, Your DH became your Career trainer and you did the job he is not allowed to do. You rigged up the chair with surveillance 2-way communications. He was your PA/ Chauffer Why does "Parker" come to mind
You're smart enough to handle the contacts and he guides you thought all the technical/specialist knowledge requirements. As a double team you travel the world together...

Must get back to work and stop dreaming.

Well on the scale front bouncing around all week.
Getting like some others here seeing pounds on pounds off
NSV do a breath-in pull the belt as tight as possible and it moved to a new hole.
So just need to train the muscles to hold in some more.
B- 3 egg omelet 1oz cheese
L- 4oz steak, salad, avocado and mayo
...

AveAtqueVale · 24/11/2017 18:13

Can anyone knowledgeable link me to something about the hormonal effects of this WOE? I understand it can raise estrogen levels but wondering what else it can do, especially in combination with the hormonal fuckery of breastfeeding... I keep feeling nauseous and am getting funny barely there lines on pregnancy tests. Trying to convince myself it’s some hangover effect from pregnancy with DS2 combined with low carbing before I have a total meltdown at the thought of a) having three children and b) having a 12-13 month age gap between two of them.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 24/11/2017 18:57

Ave I had #1 and #2 13 months apart, and had #2 and #3 14 months apart.

So #1 is 27 months older than #3.

Number 4 was a doddle for me, though.

Such fun! Halo

Ps--no idea about hormones and oestrogen #nothelpful

YoLoElfSocks · 24/11/2017 18:57

Congratulations ave on your news !! Wink

Rshard · 24/11/2017 20:59

Congratulations ave! Another boot camp baby!

Today’s food
B - buttery scrambled eggs
L - rollitos and chicken
D - spinach rocket mozzarella prawns tapas meats

All my water, 2 small glasses of red wine.

Not as much green stuff as usual, will do better tomorrow

YoLoElfSocks · 24/11/2017 23:44

grah i strongly suspect you chose a vodka bottle JUST for the shock value! Wink

Well, people must be having busy Friday nights sadly not me as the thread has been fairly quiet today.

I tried an almond milk hot chocolate tonight. Was ok. Didn't blow me away though

SoMuchToBits · 25/11/2017 00:02

Lunch today was mozzarella and avocado and tomato salad.

Dinner was lovely mix of Indian food. Ds and I shared some starters/veg side dishes (and ds also had rice/naan which I avoided). The best dish was one which contained spinach, mushrooms and cream. Absolutely lovely!

Thanks to those who have wished me a happy birthday. I'm feeling that being 56 will generally be better than being 55. Smile

C4rollinandventing · 25/11/2017 01:04

Another day in my fucked up paradise, the decorators have got the wrong colour paint for some cupboards in my kitchen and I don't give a toss. Nothing seems to matter right now and I wish it wasn't bloody Christmas in a few weeks time.

Grah as ever you managed to raise a smile with your weird daydreaming - there is no way I would want DH to be my Boss cum chauffeur all rolled into one and I know sweet FA about his area of expertise. His dickshit of a boss has today said that he has to come in on a consultation basis because it dawned on him today that he has no technical knowledge whatsoever and DH has been really good at covering his butt for the last three years since he was helicoptered in as everyone's saviour. Well hallelujah he may have just seen the light but a bit to late in the day as the owners are fully committed to getting DH out.

HarlotsWeb · 25/11/2017 06:57

Hi all. Dropped off the thread for a bit after a truly shocking fall from the wagon for a couple of days, where I basically shovelled carbs endlessly into my face. Was worried that facing the scales afterwards would cause me to flip out and give up the whole thing, so did a week of no weighing. Just got on the scales and I am the same as I was before the massive piggery, which is good. I can cope with staying the same. It is just a gain that can make me freak. So I am now back on things :)

Ave, a baby?! Are you really? Are the lines getting darker?

BIWI · 25/11/2017 07:35

Another Bootcamp baby! Grin

I need to pull myself together and get a grip. Yesterday was a Twattery of Carbs, for no reason other than I wanted to. I did enjoy it, thankfully - I hate it when you cheat and it's not satisfying! - but I really didn't need to sabotage myself like that.

I have a Christmas lunch to go to on 8/12, and I haven't tried my dress on yet. I last wore it 2 Christmases ago, and I have no idea if it will fit me. But one thing is for certain, if I continue like this it won't!

StuntNun · 25/11/2017 08:17

Ave I don't see how low carbing could give you a false positive on a pregnancy test. Can you try a digital test to give a more certain result?

Mimosa1 · 25/11/2017 08:51

Morning everyone, **
*
C4* you're amazing and strong and will get through this. Your DH's employers sound callous. I'm sorry.

Welcome back harlots - sounds like you had a really good strategy there for not letting a few days off derail you completely. I think that's what maintenant will be like - being careful for a bit after a day or two of indulging.

Biwi - you know the Christmas dress from 2 years ago isn't real without a pic, right? Wink i wish I hadn't donated or chucked all my size 14 clothes when I got heavier. It made sense in terms of decluttering and wardrobe space, etc. But as I'm now firmly out of the 18s and a comfortable 16, 14 feels within touching distance. Well, 6.5kg to goal away...

1lbs down today - I hope it sticks for Monday's weigh-in. I'm hosting my dad for lunch today and we will have picknicky things - ploughmans, cold chicken, ham, crudités, etc so should be easy to stay on track.

Scabbersley · 25/11/2017 09:01

Congratulations ave!

half a protein roll with butter and cheese for breakfast and I am running to the loo every five minutes Angry Must be the linseed or something?!

I have a cold and sore throat so lots of hot decaf coffee with almond milk.

AveAtqueVale · 25/11/2017 09:01

Thank you for all the congratulations- though I think possibly premature as no lines this morning. I have literally no idea what’s going on. Of course, having totally freaked out at the idea of being pregnant again I’m now disappointed! Might leave it a few days then try a digital test as you suggest Stunt.

On a separate note, does anyone have a suggestion for a good low carb Indian takeaway? We had one last night and I ordered a pasanda with saag paneer but then DH pointed out the sauce is full of nuts so probably quite carby. Would korma be better in future?
