Morning all Smile

Well done for reaching week 5, hopefully by now low carb eating should be pretty natural to everyone.

Just watch out for complacency, don't think "oh a wee bit won't hurt" it might!

If you need food inspiration (some people might find they are eating the same things and getting bored) check out the recipe thread or one if the many low carb/keto websites for ideas.

Good luck everyone Smile

Last night's dinner was Thai style steamed cod with cauliflower rice and steamed veg.

Tonight is keema with leek and mushrooms, I will have with spinach on the side.

I keep eying up the dark chocolate in the shop but I have no self control so will save that as a treat for Christmas.

ilovecherries · 07/11/2017 16:25

I have been experiment with Xmas 'treats'. I think my position will be LCHF but not worry too much about calories, so if I want eg, some chocolate, I will have the 90% stuff. To this end, I've been melting some 90%, adding some to the following, and re-setting it spread on greasproof paper, then breaking it into pieces. Successful options have included:
Peppermint water
Rose water
Orange water
Chopped Brazils
Whisky
Freeze dried strawberry pieces
Himalayan salt
Edible gold leaf and rose petals
Coffee essence

While some of these options are not in themselves low carb, you only need tiny drops. I've parcelled them all up in cellophane bags for the hospice sale to remove them from the house, but I particularly loved the peppermint.

Thiswillbemyusername · 07/11/2017 16:31

@ilovecherries those dark chocolate variation sound delicious Smile

Today's meals have been the same as yesterday

B: scrambled eggs w/ avocado, parmesan, butter
L: Caesar salad
D: not decided yet. Had a late lunch today

Rshard · 07/11/2017 16:51

thiswill I agree re the water, I’ve religiously drank at least 2l a day since boot camp began and I’m convinced it’s helped massively

Those sound delicious ilove. Lovely to do something for a worthy cause too.

Today’s grub
B 2 slice bacon and buttery mushrooms
L Brussels and cauliflower microwaved in butter, sprinkle of Parmesan
D cottage pie with celeriac topping, Brussels cauliflower broccoli

Hoping it’s not too windy tonight...... 💨

prettybird · 07/11/2017 17:01

The dark chocolate variations sound delicious! Smile much better choices than my tablet Wink

Well, my cream tea this morning passed off ok - I just had a few teaspoons of whipped cream and felt very virtuous!

Today's meals:

B: 2 spoonfuls greek style yoghurt, splash of cream and cinnamon
Morning tea: 3 teaspoons of whipped cream
Lunch: 3 slices of salami, 4 slices of pastrami, bowl of brussels microwaved in butter
Snack: 1 square of 90% Lindt chocolate (savoured with a mug of peppermint and licorice tea, to make it feel almost like an , 2 brazil nuts
Supper: will be a stir fry with a ribeye steak (divided amongst 3 of us) with broccoli, shallots, carrots, mange tout, baby sweet corn and garlic, stir fried in coconut oil then with lots of soy sauce and sesame oil added. Dh and ds will also have noodles stirred through their portions.

Bubblemumma1 · 07/11/2017 17:10

I’m in the mood for Camembert. In the past I’d have with with bread and basalmic vinegar.

May I please have some inspiration?

Rshard · 07/11/2017 17:16

Are you warming it up bubble? If so what about some low carb crudités?

prettybird · 07/11/2017 17:19

I actually like Camembert and any cheese for that matter just on its own - but I might be weird Wink

If you want something with it, how about some celery or cucumber. Or may some of the fathead nachos to go with it. There is also a flaxseed based bun - but I've never made it and don't even know where to find the recipe or what its proper name is

Bubblemumma1 · 07/11/2017 17:19

Yes, I’m going to bake it Rshard.
So celery, cucumber? That’s all I can think of...

prettybird · 07/11/2017 17:21

Raw cauliflower or peppers bleurgh but that's my own taste buds Wink would also work as crudites for dipping.

Bubblemumma1 · 07/11/2017 17:22

prettybird thanks! Will Google fathead nachos. The thought of celery and cucumber is making me Sad because I’ve eaten So much of that in the last 2 weeks. I was hoping to take a break.
The problem is I keep seeing Camembert everywhere now.

Damn you DH for pointing it out in Aldi!

ClearEyesFullHearts · 07/11/2017 17:25

Cauliflower with the Camembert.

prettybird · 07/11/2017 17:30

There's a link earlier in the thread to fathead nachos.

Bubblemumma1 · 07/11/2017 17:31

Thank you all! I’m definitely buying the Camembert because it’s all I can think about and I’ll try your suggestions.

Scabbersley · 07/11/2017 18:06

Snacks in the car: pack pork scratchings, handful of Brazil nuts. Bottle fizzy water.

D: think I'll have a burger with cheese, lots of rocket salad and mayo.

starsky22 · 07/11/2017 18:09

bubble you could try making flaxseed crackers, like these:
www.ibreatheimhungry.com/2012/01/low-carb-rosemary-sea-salt-flax.html

I'm sure I remember people on the last bootcamp found some low carb seeded crackers to buy online, but I can't remember what they were called to Google them, sorry not much help!

Almahart · 07/11/2017 18:14

Ooh low carb seeded crackers? I was interrogating cracker packets in the supermarket earlier, I'll keep looking

Had onion bhaji and then some delicious mushroom soup with cream black pepper and parsley for dinner.

HarlotsWeb · 07/11/2017 18:41

B Creamy coffee
S An Alpen bar (crisped rice, fudge pieces, fake sugar ARGH)
L Chicken curry
S A mini packet of haribo (ARGH AGAIN)
D Two 97% pork sausages and a mound of lettuce.

I have spent all day craving sweets and biscuits with a passion. Really hope that doesn't carry on tomorrow.

Veryflummoxed · 07/11/2017 19:07

Breakfast. Fasting (except I licked the spoon when I dished up yogurt for ds. Was ff Greek though.

Lunch. A bowl of buttered salted garliced peppered sprouts

Dinner. Turkey fillet, almond coating, pan fried in butter and olive oil. With celeriac mash, cabbage and fried mushrooms.

I am really trying with the water today. I’ve been getting slack.

I have read the thread and sorry I haven’t done any responding today. To be honest there was one post which has really stood out for me, thanks @ilovecherries, your multitude of delicious flavoured chocs is now lodged firmly in my mind. Grin

ClearEyesFullHearts · 07/11/2017 19:07

Harlots if it does carry on, what is your plan to appease the cravings?

Because Alpen bars and Haribo made you unhappy with your choices, didn't they?

Scabbersley · 07/11/2017 19:10

HarlotsWeb you crave sugar because you are still eating it!! If you can give up you won't miss it eventually.

I don't think this WOE will work if you eat cereal bars! It's only for a few weeks.

Scabbersley · 07/11/2017 19:10

Veryflummoxed is that enough food??

BlackMozart · 07/11/2017 19:31

bubbl this may be too late but when I was looking at diet doctor earlier in the favourite recipes there was a whole brie filled with nuts and herbs, then baked in the oven. You could then dip your crudités and flax seed crackers into hot cheese - yum

BlackMozart · 07/11/2017 19:32

And substitute Camembert for Brie obviously 😊

HarlotsWeb · 07/11/2017 19:34

I think it was a combination of things - feeling a bit invincible because I had such a good whoosh this week, and not having had enough variety recently. I know now that I am not invincible. And I have made and packed a very filling lunch for tomorrow. And also prepped breakfast, so I will start the day well sated. And I will drink more water.

I also asked my office-mate to lock the remaining sweets away in her desk drawer, which she very sweetly did.
