Morning all Smile

Well done for reaching week 5, hopefully by now low carb eating should be pretty natural to everyone.

Just watch out for complacency, don't think "oh a wee bit won't hurt" it might!

If you need food inspiration (some people might find they are eating the same things and getting bored) check out the recipe thread or one if the many low carb/keto websites for ideas.

spreadsheet

Good luck everyone Smile

The m&s cheese in Serrano ham is amazing. Top choice. Or I buy a side salad/Greek salad and add a bit of ham or chicken.

Some of the protein pots are ok as well but most of the other salads have some sort of grains or carbs in. Leon have some reasonable options if you have one close.

HarlotsWeb · 07/11/2017 09:44

Morning all. Have a sneaking suspicion I might be premenstrual, as I am half a pound up on the scales this morning despite a good day yesterday, and absolutely ravenous for something, anything carby right now.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 07/11/2017 09:52

I'm feeling fat today Sad. I know exactly why, and it's ridiculous: when I went into the bathroom this morning my pj bottoms were below my belly rather than covering it, so when I went to pull them down to jump on the scales my hand hit the roll of fat. This is the same roll which I've been admiring in the mirror for getting smaller. Never mind. Tomorrow is another day!

Rshard · 07/11/2017 10:15

I know that roll time! Mine is definitely shrinking, it regularly used to breach (is the right word?) all but my biggest pants but now all my pants contain it! That's my gauge.

So pleased to report a 3lb loss this week, so that's 12 overall and just 2 until my first lchf stone - so happy!

BlackMozart · 07/11/2017 10:33

Congrats to Creme 💐
Have weighed this morning and I have lost 3 1/2lbs thank goodness. If someone could update the spreadsheet I would be grateful.

I’m back in the 13’s for the first time in 4 years and have lost a stone and 1/2lb since 6 September, not all but most of it on this woe.

So I am sticking with Bootcamp and no wine for at least one more week and no choc if I can manage it. Also I am going to think about 2 days counting calories e.g 2 days at 850 a day. I’m thinking eggs for breakfast and then lc veg with measured amount of butter for the other two meals and see what happens. Rest of the week would be lchf as normal. Many of you seem to do variations with 16:8 being popular so I am hoping this isn’t going to get me into trouble. 😊
I’ve definitely drunk more water and I need to keep going with that. Less coffee too but I’m sticking with lactofree milk as I can’t do cream in it. Also more herbal tea.
Onwards and downwards at last.

BlackMozart · 07/11/2017 10:38

On the topic of lunches I too like M&S Serrano ham and cheese roll ups, (Tesco do a similar version) a small pot of squid or pack of prawns in chilli and coriander or garlic and herb if you like seafood, and the egg and spinach protein pot which just needs a bit of mayo adding to it. Very filling.

Rshard · 07/11/2017 10:51

Added for you blackmozart

sos1993 · 07/11/2017 11:04

I am going to sing the praises of diet doctor.com. I search their site for ‘keto plate’ for a visual of what proportions should look like and it definitely helps me. Each plate of food looks amazing and easy to prepare. And properly proportioned for fat, protein and carb, I think.

CremeDeSudo · 07/11/2017 11:43

What section of the store would these roll ups be? Presumably not in the lunch bit?

I think morning sickness has started today..

blackteaplease · 07/11/2017 12:20

Creme they are normally in a fridge with all the picky deli bits olives, falafel, vine leaves etc.

My bouncing 2 lbs has gone again, the day after weigh in! I keep seeing 140 in the week but it's elusive on a Monday. I guess I'm eating too much and not drinking enough on the weekends.

CremeDeSudo · 07/11/2017 12:50

Found them thank you! A few different varieties to try too Smile

BlackMozart · 07/11/2017 12:56

Thanks Rshard

BlackMozart · 07/11/2017 13:06

sos1993 thanks for the dietdoctor.com suggestion. I’ve just had a look and agree the visual plates are v helpful. Has made me feel more confident particularly around how much veg to eat.

BlackMozart · 07/11/2017 13:10

Sending good wishes to you Creme re your morning sickness. Would a herbal ginger tea help?

BlackMozart · 07/11/2017 13:34

And to the poster in week 4 I think who suggested Gillian Riley’s work. I’ve bought one of her books and its 120 pages i’m Looking forward to reading tonight!

Hippadippadation · 07/11/2017 13:45

Aldi also sell the cheese and meat rodillos. They have parma ham round gouda and chorizo round spciy cheddar. You get 10 in a pack for about £1.50 so much cheaper than the M&S / Tesco versions.

My lunch was delicious. I have to share the recipe. Can't remember if it was from a thread in the low carb section on here or if it was from Facebook. Actually, it was beyond delicious.

Cook a head of cauliflower
Cook a head of broccoli
Grill bacon (I used streaky bacon - all 10 rashers!) until crispy & cut into pieces
Drain cauli & broccoli and add full fat soft cheese, stir it & mush it around a bit until combined
Add the bacon, salt, garlic (I used powder, it's easier), pepper and mixed herbs to the cauli mixture
Sprinkled grated cheese and more mixed herbs on top (I used red leicester, but I bet cheddar or feta would be lovely)
Bake 20 mins until cheese is bubbly

This made 4 portions. I can't describe how out of this world delicious it was. I'm going to do it as a side for Christmas dinner (and likely get moaned at by MIL for not doing low fat! Hmm)

Gammeldragz · 07/11/2017 13:50

hippa that sounds amazing!

Today
10:45 peanuts
1:45pm chicken, lettuce and mayo
8pm ish will be dinner, "tacos" using lettuce.

Not quite 16:8 today, but usually do as I don't tend to have breakfast.

Rshard · 07/11/2017 13:54

That sounds amazing hippa! How much cream cheese did you use?

I had Brussels and cauliflower microwaved in butter with a bit of Parmesan, lovely to have a hot lunch on a miserable dsy

FurryTurnip · 07/11/2017 13:59

Those keto plates are quite helpful- based on that I am not sure I am getting enough fat, or at least all most of my fat is from dairy. Suppose it isn't a problem while the weight is still coming off, but one to keep an eye on if it slows down. But I've really gone off avocados for some reason, and don't like stuff with loads of olive oil on. Shall stick to the butter and mayo for now.

B: half a protein roll with 2 cheesy scrambled eggs
L: leeks and brocolli in stilton and cheese sauce
D: spinach gratin
S: few almonds and a square of dark chocolate

Hippadippadation · 07/11/2017 14:11

Rshard I used a 200g tub of cream cheese. It made loads. Would do 6/8 portions if you had it as a side with some roast chicken or something. Me and DH just piled our plates with it Grin

starsky22 · 07/11/2017 14:26

Whoever mentioned philly cheasesteak casserole previously, thank you! I had it for lunch using left over roast beef and it was delicious!

Rshard · 07/11/2017 14:28

Thanks hippa, I’ll def try it

juneavrile · 07/11/2017 14:45

I stayed the same this week. I did lose my way for 24 hours at the weekend - while staying away.

I have stuck to my lowvember goal of 5 x 40 mins exercise per week but it could not save me.

Scabbersley · 07/11/2017 15:23

I've had 4 x creamy decaf coffees today Shock

L: a smoked mackerel fillet. Spring greens, garlic and mushrooms stir fried with tons of olive oil and soy.

Thiswillbemyusername · 07/11/2017 15:24

Im rather chuffed today; my 2lb extra has disappeared from yesterday. I believe this had something to do with drinking 3L of water yesterday. I had nowhere near that much water all weekend.
