Morning all Smile

Well done for reaching week 5, hopefully by now low carb eating should be pretty natural to everyone.

Just watch out for complacency, don't think "oh a wee bit won't hurt" it might!

If you need food inspiration (some people might find they are eating the same things and getting bored) check out the recipe thread or one if the many low carb/keto websites for ideas.

Good luck everyone Smile

Thanks prettybird and well done yourself, that's a great NSV!

Hippadippadation · 06/11/2017 09:11

Half a pound off from last week. I'll take that, considering my alcohol issues and it's the lowest weight I've seen this BC! Still 4lbs to go til my mini goal and 6lbs to go until ultimate target. I so hope I get there this BC.

Well done everyone on SVs & NSVs and KOKO those who have STS or gained, it's totally normal in this week. Scales will move soon.

Here's to a perfect LC week!

Food plan for today:
L - taco-less taco salad
D - salad & mayo

Cherrypi · 06/11/2017 09:20

RIght filled my litre jug with water. Need to drink that by lunchtime. Find water the tricky bit as I normally only have three/four drinks all day. Feel slimmer and SAD is not hitting me yet so far.

Frigglet · 06/11/2017 09:22

Morning all! Not posted for a few days as been crazy busy with work and family, but I’m still firmly on the wagon.

Seriously, I love laughing at rants by those who've lost nearly 12 lbs in 4 weeks. 😀So with this in mind, I’ll ‘gleefully’ add how delighted I am with my 1lb loss this week.

Well, to be honest, that’s a lie 😀, as I’d hoped for a greater loss as I’ve not slipped at all. Glad that I don’t feel like I’ve missed out on not eating the carby delights I once loved. I’m still keeping on on BC as I think I’m used to it now. Will try and eat more fat this week too and less bacon. And drink more water.

I’ve probably got about 8lbs to go to reach my target, then I’ll work on maintenance from then on.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 06/11/2017 09:23

Unbelievably down 2.8lbs this week! Considering how long I'm been BCing for I'm surprised, but thrilled, to get such a big weekly drop. Especially after the weekend (was almost thinking about switching to putting in Sunday's weights, but am really pleased I didn't now!).

Yesterday's dinner was most definitely off piste, but it was full of tradition and memories for me, so I'm glad I stuck to my guns:
S - Lancashire parched peas with salt and vinegar
M - Jacket potato with the insides mashed up with lots of cheese, butter, milk and salt and reheated on the fire, with sausages (as my mother used to do on Fireworks Night when I was young)
P - Baked bananas stuffed with marshmallows and chocolate

Totally off piste, but yummy. And, to make me feel better, although the potatoes weren't large (was worried they were too small, actually) I only managed half of mine. But I enjoyed the half I had, and have the rest to DP.

Discovered that my lower-slung size 10 jeans can now be taken off without undoing them. Makes it rather disconcerting walking around wearing them if I don't have a belt through the hoops! Blush Still can't get size 8s done up without the zip threatening to burst open, but I'll get there. I also can't wait until I can get back into my size 8 red winter coat as it's been a while. Only problem is I lost one of the fastenings so I'll have to try and sort something out as it looks strange with one of the buckles flapping open.

I've got 4.1 lbs to go until I reach the 2 stone mark. Would be great if that could happen by Christmas. I would, then, like another stone off, which would bring me back down to what I was a about 8 years ago, and which really suits me. If I can lose my belly as well that would be wonderful! Miracles do happen, right?

PS Is there any news of C4? I've probably missed an update somewhere...

FurryTurnip · 06/11/2017 09:33

Morning all, well done on the losses, and well done to everyone who has STS in these tricky weeks!

1.5lbs down for me - very pleased though I did see a pound lower during the week. I'm a week behind you all though so am mentally prepared for a stall for next couple of weeks. Plus I'm only 5lbs off my goal so imagine it will be slower now. And a weekend away next week...

B: Greek yogurt, cream, blueberries, a few almonds
L: leftover fathead pizza
D: spinach gratin

Have a good Monday everyone and here's to a better week for those struggling for various reasons.

Alma that was me regarding fasting/weight set point. A few months ago I picked up a book called The Obesity Code by Dr Jason Fung which is the best book I've ever read on the physiological reasons as to why we become overweight - it's transformed my attitude to this WOE and food in general.

Here's an article by Jason Fung briefly explaining about our body weight set point and what we can do about it: idmprogram.com/fix-broken-metabolism/

singadream · 06/11/2017 09:41

Hi, a going to attempt to update my own spreadsheet today. My new weight is 245 which is 10b down on weight when we started so I am very happy with that. I would love to lose another 10b by Christmas - is that possible?

My NSV today is my winter coat which bought online without trying on and was a little bit tight when it arrived - not enough to send back but enough to wish I had bought next size up - now fits perfectly.

Patapouf · 06/11/2017 10:02

Morning all!

Just checking in after lurking for ages, didn't have time to keep up with the thread. Lovely to see some familiar names this BC.
Big congrats to jim, both on your wedding and the fantastic loss!

B: scrambled eggs, spinach and cheddar
L: beef stew with garlic mushrooms
D: no idea, need to do a shop!

singadream · 06/11/2017 10:03

Also a question - how do you stop baked egg muffins sticking to the tin? I buttered the muffin holes but they still stuck.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 06/11/2017 10:17

singadream buy a different tin?

In truth, I've never had much luck. When they first come out I use a small, bendy, silicone spatula to go around the edges and bottom if I can reach before they cool. That helps a bit.

Have considered using cupcake paper (whatever it's called, those little wotsits that have crinkled edges) but not convinced that would help.

Serendipitous mention of the muffins though as one of the children asked this morning when I'm going to make them again. I'd better get on it!

ClearEyesFullHearts · 06/11/2017 10:24

was almost thinking about switching to putting in Sunday's weights, but am really pleased I didn't now

namechange this reminds me of when I caught myself lying to my Weight Diary app with a lower weight. Blush

Why do we do this? Why do we jiggle and wiggle and inch up every possible advantage? If the overal direction is steadily down (I'm talking over weeks and months), why do I still feel the need to present a slight untruth sometimes?

Is it to make myself look better to others? Is it to make myself feel better somehow, even though I know it's not the truth?

I'm genuinely baffled and clearly have a possibly unhealthy interest in the psychology of weight loss.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 06/11/2017 10:40

Clear - It's purely makes me feel better to see a lower number. That's all it is.

For the 11 weeks I have weights for both Sunday and Monday (I don't always weigh daily) 5 have seen a lower weight on the Monday. I KNOW this is just daily fluctuation, hence it being basically 50:50, but it feels a lot less. Plus, if I'm going to go off-piste it'll be at the weekend, especially a Sunday (at the very least a potato scone with breakfast, sometimes a small pudding and wine with dinner) so I EXPECT to go up on the Monday anyway, or, rather, I feel I deserve to go up.

So, yeah, looking at it it is, in my case, tied in with what I think I deserve. Very interesting. Thanks!

TimeIhadaNameChange · 06/11/2017 10:43

PS It's interesting what I'm counting as my 2 stone figure. If I go by BC I should be aiming for 8 13.75. But, I started a few days before May's BC officially started. I forgot to weigh on the Thursday morning, and recorded 11st 4 that evening, but 11 st 1 the next morning. I could count the 4 in a way as that's easily within the realm of daily ups and downs, but I actually take 11 1 as my start. Again, there's something 'safe' to be aiming to be just above a 0 rather than just below.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 06/11/2017 10:47

I use a silicon muffin tray and they just slide out.

Scabbersley · 06/11/2017 10:53

B: 2 x creamy coffees. I NEED to find a really nice, mellow, decaffeinated coffee as I have a feeling that the increase in anxiety is linked to drinking caffeine on this WOE. Whether its made me more sensitive to it or something. I did buy some BArleycup but its sky high in carbs! I have a very 'sensitive' throat in that I often get sore throats and I am so used to drinking hot drinks. I have some nice pukka tea for after lunch but I NEED a couple of creamy coffees in the morning. Help!

L: will be microwaved brussels with butter YUM, eggs and bacon
D: roast chicken thigh with stir fry veg and soy. Would chucking some sesame oil on the stir fry help with the fat count??

I will almost certainly have a hot almond milk cocoa at some point as its freezing and I have to spend a couple of hours with the horses this afternoon.

Scabbersley · 06/11/2017 10:56

Oh and - I cannot believe I have stuck to this and got to week 5! This is the longest I have stuck to any diet WOE ever. I am still quite enjoying it as well! There's something about it which fits in with my natural WOE I think - apart from my utter reliance on hot milky drinks which has, interestingly to me, been my downfall!!

Scabbersley · 06/11/2017 10:58

And - sorry I will shut up in a minute - I've drunk a litre of water so far and have another litre on my desk. My skin defintely looks better and the lady in the village who lives next to my horses said I looked 'well'. As she is normally telling me how knackered I look and how I MUST have a holiday, this is a massive NSV Grin

cafeaulaitpourvous · 06/11/2017 11:01

Stayed the same which is not surprising as I had a bun with my bonfire bbq burger and a piece of home made cake on Saturday night.
Tbh I have been run ragged catering for and running a bonfire party and I was so desperate for food I just ate it!

No excuse I know and on top of the weight staying the same my IBS reared it’s terrible head early Sunday morning only a couple of hours after consuming the cake and bread.

KOKO KOKO

GuyMartinsSideburns · 06/11/2017 11:08

Morning!

Could someone add my weight please? 130. Thanks Smile

prettybird · 06/11/2017 11:08

Do I need to give a warning about the addictive properties of brussels microwaved in butter and well seasoned? Wink

Scabbersley · 06/11/2017 11:12

Do I need to give a warning about the addictive properties of brussels microwaved in butter and well seasoned?

It's too late for me. Please tell me that they aren't hugely carby.

SayrraT · 06/11/2017 11:19

Brussells are 3.5g carb per 100g

OP posts:
prettybird · 06/11/2017 11:21

No - they're good. Just checked the Lidl packaging: 3.5g/100g.

I see them as a good way to help me up both my veg and fat intake, plus supplement my minerals as I season with Lo-Salt for the potassium Grin

Now.....what shall I have for lunch? Wink
