Morning all Smile

Well done for reaching week 5, hopefully by now low carb eating should be pretty natural to everyone.

Just watch out for complacency, don't think "oh a wee bit won't hurt" it might!

If you need food inspiration (some people might find they are eating the same things and getting bored) check out the recipe thread or one if the many low carb/keto websites for ideas.

Good luck everyone Smile

@Mimosa1 I’ve been reading about fat fasts too. So far haven’t felt motivated enough to try fat or egg fast Grin

FurryTurnip · 06/11/2017 20:58

Oh my god ClearEyes the fathead nachos sound fantastic. I already love the pizza, could happily eat that instead of bread based pizza for the rest of my days... Just gorgeous.

I just ate what felt like an amazingly luxurious dessert- Greek yogurt, double cream, raspberries, a few chunks of frozen almond butter/ mascarpone thing, topped with finely grated dark chocolate. Very indulgent, felt like a sundae or something. I am still struggling a bit after eating something like that for feeling a bit guilty like it was so lovely I shouldn't have eaten it. Need to get over that!

TempusEejit · 06/11/2017 21:04

Mimosa I think the key with fasting is to work up to it gradually, say 16:8, then one meal a day, then extending it only as and when you feel you're ready. Fasting's not for everyone and extended fasting isn't suitable for anyone who doesn't have much body fat to lose. You should also seek medical advice for longer fasts if you're on medication. I take each day as it comes and tell myself I can stop at any time which seems to get me through - if I told myself at the start that I can't eat for X number of days I'd find it way too daunting! Try watching some of Jason Fung's videos on youtube - very informative and not too dry. Well done for doing your best at lunch today!

RaskolnikovsGarret · 06/11/2017 21:22

Hi all, interesting stories above. I've reached my goal weight I think, though could do with losing maybe six pounds more, but not essential. I've been doing low carb variations on and off since 6 may (so six months today). 11 stone 2 down to 7 stone 13. Don't know whether I will continue to try to lose the stubborn muffin top and back fat, but will see.

Don't think I will return to the thread now, but many many thanks to the organisers and posters here for all the useful tips. And congratulations to everyone on their weight loss and good luck for the following weeks. The thread has been fab. X Flowers

BlackMozart · 06/11/2017 22:05

Goodness you have all been very productive on this thread! Prettybird thank you for reminding me to get over to week 5. I seem to miss that cue every week!
Well done everyone for losing, for understanding why you may not have and for just being here. After a tough emotional weekend I didn’t cave in so that is my NSV. I weigh on a Tuesday morning so will check tomorrow and post then. I really hope I’ve lost something as 3 weeks with only a 1/4lb to show for it will be very frustrating.
I am wondering about 5:2 with two days vlc and then 5 days boot camp but will see what happens tomorrow before I look seriously at it.
I am off to search for the fathead pizza recipe that everyone raves about. I wonder if it’s similar to the one in Idiot Proof Diet recipe book.
Question - do leeks really have 12.6 g carbs per 100g? I thought they were an ok choice ☹️

BlackMozart · 06/11/2017 22:12

Searching for things other than bacon and sausage for breakfast I mashed some cooked broccoli and cauliflower from last nights dinner with a bit of Boursin cheese, butter and extra salt and pepper, then fried it in a dash of olive oil and served with a fried egg on top. It was so good I’m thinking of cooking extra veg every day to do it!

BlackMozart · 06/11/2017 22:14

And big congrats to RaskolnikovsGarret on your success 💐

starsky22 · 06/11/2017 22:15

Mimosa I do a 16:8 fast most days now, which means I don't have breakfast, but if I feel hungry then I will have something to eat, I definitely thinks it has helped with my weight loss. It happened naturally as I wasn't hungry in the mornings so was having breakfast later and later each day and by the time I was having it at 11am, I thought I might as well wait for lunch. So if you are having periods where you aren't hungry, then you can try fasting, by seeing how long you can leave it before eating and gradually increase it.

Today's food:
B fasting
L pumpkin soup
D leftover roast beef, sprouts, broccoli & half a yorkshire pud
S 10 almonds

prettybird · 06/11/2017 22:25

Having not had supper because I had a Parent Council meeting, I've just had a bowl of brussels in butter Smile

I was conscious that I hadn't really had any many vegetables today so wanted to try to redress the balance a little bit Blush

I thought I'd microwaved enough to have a few left over to snack on tomorrow morning before going off to my cream tea Knit and Natter.......Blush

princessbear80 · 06/11/2017 22:49

End of week 3 for me and sts. Think I need to up my water and lay off the pork scratchings. Like chinchilla I think I may be due a whoosh, as I feel thinner, just it’s not showing on the scales.

Well done on your losses and NSVs.

YoLoNovVitMe · 06/11/2017 23:07

Wonderful positivity on the thread today. Congratulations to those who have lost weight, had NSVs, STS, nearly reached or reached goals, made good food choices, kokoed and stayed on it! And for everyone facing challenges Flowers

TimbuktuTimbuktu · 06/11/2017 23:39

I’ve done an egg fast before. It wasn’t too bad although I was thoroughly sick of eggs by the end of the week!

I don’t even really like eggs that much which did make it challenging. I ended up cheating and adding a little bit of chorizo to stuff for flavour.

It did work to shift the stall. I’d do another one if I got stuck for ages again (over 6 weeks sts)

Hippadippadation · 07/11/2017 06:28

Well done Ralashnikov! Good luck in the future. I'm interested in how you will be maintaining though?

Breakfast sounds lovely BlackMozart I might do the same one day.

Food plan:
L - broccoli, cauliflower, bacon cheesey bake
D - unsure, will be at work. Salad probably.

TheMonkeysOnTheTable · 07/11/2017 06:35

Late weigh in for me - but I've now lost 11 lbs (2.5 off this week)
My skin is also so much clearer. I had (my first) break out of acne on my forehead about 2 years ago and nothing would shift it. It's now almost gone!
Will try and catch up at some point today
B creamy coffee
L chicken with asparagus and mushrooms
D omelette (I think)

Mimosa1 · 07/11/2017 07:09

Thanks Timbuktu, tempus and starsky - I'll look up some of those videos on IF. Now that I think of it I was accidentally doing a sort of 16:8 when first starting this woe as mornings were a bit chaotic in the mimosa household with a newborn and a toddler so I wasn't getting to breakfast until late. Pleased to say things have settled down a bit !

Almahart · 07/11/2017 07:25

I'm building up to 16:8 I think.

This weekend is going to be tricky as I have dinner out, a hen do cream tea and birthday drinks

We had to pre order dinner and I ordered chilli squid and jerk chicken and no pud but am going to have to leave chips. Guess will just have to go not hungry to the cream tea and not eat anything!

ilovecherries · 07/11/2017 07:33

Almahart - at a cream tea recently I just discretely asked the waiter if I could have a plate of smoked salmon and cucumber (murmured something about bread not agreeing with me). He then actually offered me strawberries and clotted cream, rather than a scone.

Scabbersley · 07/11/2017 08:07

My skin also looks a lot clearer.

Woke up feeling very stomachy. Had a decaff creamy coffee and have a tummy ache and feel a bit nauseated. Nothing else for me this morning. Expecting a headache later if I don't have caffeine today!!

CremeDeSudo · 07/11/2017 08:25

Morning all

Feeling a little disheartened this morn as I'm 2lb up Sad

I know the reasons why though

  1. a take away and meal out (although stuck to lchf)
  2. had a hotdog at the fireworks display ( couldn't work out how to eat it without getting in a mess! Got round and bloated within a couple of hours)
  3. not enough water over the weekend and yesterday
  4. pregnant! Have just realised I'm same num weeks pg as we're in bc! Am 5wks tmw Grin

Those who haven't meal prepped something for work, where do you get your lunch? And what? I'm usually very good but don't have anything today. The odd occasion I haven't brought something in I've had a pret salad (with chicken in mayo, pistachios etc) bit fancy a change today...

ilovecherries · 07/11/2017 08:44

Discreetly asked, even. That bloody auto correct will annoy me all day!

Wh0KnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 07/11/2017 08:54

Creme - I get a Subway salad, but that's probably not much different to Pret. M&S usually have a few low carby nibbles, parma ham wrapped around cheese, cheese sticks, salad bowls etc.

Wh0KnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 07/11/2017 08:54

Although nearly all the salad bowls have pasta, rice, couscous etc in.

ASDismynormality · 07/11/2017 09:02

Congratulations creme Flowers

CremeDeSudo · 07/11/2017 09:09

I'll have a nosey in M&S then. Need to see if they've got a coat I have my eye on in stock now anyway...two birds Smile

Thanks @ASD Smile

Rshard · 07/11/2017 09:17

Congratulations creme 2 boot camp babies!
