Week 5 - halfway there!

Morning all Smile

Well done for reaching week 5, hopefully by now low carb eating should be pretty natural to everyone.

Just watch out for complacency, don't think "oh a wee bit won't hurt" it might!

If you need food inspiration (some people might find they are eating the same things and getting bored) check out the recipe thread or one if the many low carb/keto websites for ideas.

Good luck everyone Smile

Scabbersley, I wouldn't have the sugar free gum or squash, as they both contain artificial sweeteners. These may cause carb cravings, and possibly cause insulin to spike as well.

I'd try a mint tea, or just chew some fresh mint leaves for a breath freshener, and maybe a fruit tea instead of squash. If you want a cold drink, then maybe make up some fruit tea in a jug, leave it to get cold, then refrigerate it so you can pour a glass when you feel like one. You can serve it with a slice of lemon/lime/cucumber/couple of strawberries/mint leaves if you want, for a bit of extra fresh flavour.

Hello BIWI, hope you had a good holiday!

Hippadippadation · 09/11/2017 14:57

Hi Pipple! Dive right in and make yourself at home.

BIWI how was the holiday?

Brassica gah and you can't even nick out to pick something else up? There's a few places near where the car park buses drop off I think, subway from memory? Can't remember what else?

Veryflummoxed · 09/11/2017 14:58

Welcome back BIWI. Hope you had a lovely break

TempusEejit · 09/11/2017 15:00

I use Ultradex mouthwash and spray to combat the death breath, they tackle the bacteria or whatever rather than just masking the smell. Holland & Barrett do parsley oil capsules which also help (I think they're called something like Breath check but I don't have the bottle to hand at the mo).

Btw fathead pizza is the bomb isn't it?! You can also use the dough to make sausage rolls, pasties or samosas (it'll be rollable if you use the black mozzarella ).

TempusEejit · 09/11/2017 15:01
  • block mozzarella not black!
BIWI · 09/11/2017 15:22

Thanks all Smile

I did have a lovely time. But all I can say is that I'm not going anywhere near the scales for at least another week.

This was my view for the last ten days.

Hi BIWI, hope you’ve had a great holiday! No doubt you’re sitting taking notes before you deliver your report! 😀

Bit of an odd few days for me, but so far today I’ve had
B - scrambled egg with cheese
L - kale salad with poached egg, 2 cherry tomatoes and goats cheese
D - pork belly with spinach salad and cauliflower rice

I definitely need to up my fat. A lot. Water not been too bad generally 2-3l a day.

Will hunt out almond flour this weekend.

TempusEejit · 09/11/2017 15:36

Looks amazing BIWI, coming back must be a shock to the system!

SoMuchToBits · 09/11/2017 15:39

Looks lovely, BIWI! I hope you won't have to beat yourself with your own stick!!! Shock Grin

ASDismynormality · 09/11/2017 15:59

Looks wonderful biwi

BIWI · 09/11/2017 16:01

And I managed not to jump on to Mumsnet for the whole 11 days Shock

... so I've got a bit of catching up to do Grin

Rshard · 09/11/2017 16:29

Welcome back BIWI, photos look beautiful

Scabbersley · 09/11/2017 16:30

Can anyone reassure me that the fathead pizza isn't hugely carby? Still feeling stuffed and a bit worried!

singadream · 09/11/2017 17:07

@SayrraT neither really. I really fancied them then ate them. Just annoyed if it reverses my weight loss.
Back on it today though and dh away so I don’t even have to make a carb for him and then ignore it.

SayrraT · 09/11/2017 17:14

OK sing it was just you'd said it was bad day so wasn't sure if something had happened. At least you are prepared for a stall or a gain.

Aw thank you. I just meant a bad carb day!

TempusEejit · 09/11/2017 17:42

Scabbers no, fathead pizza isn't hugely carby - in fact the reason why you're still feeling so full is because it's not! Fat is satiating and has minimum effect on insulin levels. However carbs cause spikes in insulin and and makes our blood sugars rise sharply then crash back down causing hunger. That's the reason behind that old jokey observation about eating a huge Chinese takeaway and being starving two hours later.

Hippadippadation · 09/11/2017 18:21

I soooo need to get on board with this fathead pizza vibe. I've been properly LCHF'ing since about March now and never tried it!

BIWI looked wonderful. I'm not jealous. Honest Envy

FurryTurnip · 09/11/2017 18:32

Welcome back BIWI

I felt the same as you Scabbersley after eating the fathead pizza. Somehow because it's so lovely and so filling I felt like it was too good to be true! Even more excited about the idea of using the dough for other things. Trying to think what I can put in a veggie samosa that's not potatoes and peas.

Feel like I've eaten loads today, was really hungry for some reason.

B: Greek yogurt, blueberries, almonds
Mid morning: half a protein roll with butter and cheese
L: saag paneer (well, cavalo Nero paneer but you know what I mean) with cauliflower rice
S: square of dark chocolate
D: may keep it light with scrambled egg as feel like I've troughed a lot today
Tonnes of water. Am also trying to front load in the mornings. Have also set myself a rule that if I touch the fridge I have to drink a glass of water.

Scabbersley · 09/11/2017 18:36

The fathead pizza was amazing. I used some of the tomato sauce I had cooked the chicken in yesterday, so it had bits of chorizo and olives in, then fried a sausage and sprinkled the sausage meat on, then covered it in cheese.

The base was really good as it cooled but sadly I had troughed (good word furryturnip) most of it before then Blush

Rshard · 09/11/2017 19:19

Has anyone got a good crustless quiche recipe please? I made one the other week but didn’t bookmark the page and can’t find it.

Tiddlywinks63 · 09/11/2017 19:47

Welcome back BIWI, very envious of your holiday, where did you go to get such gorgeous weather?
Just wondering how C4 was, has anyone heard?
I'm struggling a bit (although still losing) because have very limited cooking facilities whilst we're away from home. Hopefully life will return to near normal next week fingers and eyes crossed

Scabbersley · 09/11/2017 19:50

so
B: creamy coffee
L: FATHEAD PIZZA
D: courgetti with few spoons of cherry tomatoes pancetta and garlic that I'd made for everyone with spaghetti

I have a tiny bar of dark chocolate for later, might not eat it though.

pimmsy · 09/11/2017 20:20

Hi all,

I'm craving sweet things and esp sweet drinks, how bad is it to have coke zero?

prettybird · 09/11/2017 20:23

Bad because it will keep you craving sweet things. Shock

Can you have some fizzy water with a slice of lemon/strawberry/cucumber in it instead?
