Morning all Smile

Well done for reaching week 5, hopefully by now low carb eating should be pretty natural to everyone.

Just watch out for complacency, don't think "oh a wee bit won't hurt" it might!

If you need food inspiration (some people might find they are eating the same things and getting bored) check out the recipe thread or one if the many low carb/keto websites for ideas.

Good luck everyone Smile

We buy the almond flour from our local Indian food bazaar. £7 for a massive bag!

singadream · 09/11/2017 13:01

Had a bad day yesterday - had bread (but nutty rye black bread) and a hot chocolate. Sigh. Then got on scales and had lost 3lb so was well chuffed. Means I have lost a stone since beginning of bootcamp. So will be gutted when yesterday's transgressions show on the scales and take it back up again.

Anyway I am now 109.4g and my initial target is to get into double figures.

Scabbersley · 09/11/2017 13:15

Well the fathead pizza Base looks totally wrong. It's very runny. I've spooned it onto a piece of baking parchment and have no confidence that it will ever come off Confused

FurryTurnip · 09/11/2017 13:31

Well done on the loss Scabbersley!

That doesn't sound right for the fathead pizz dough, mine is always quite thick and gooey. I used the recipe from the 'ditch the carbs' website. Hope yours dries out and works!

SoMuchToBits · 09/11/2017 13:35

Aaaaargghhh! Butter and cream have both gone up in price again in Aldi. Last week butter (British salted) was £1.40, this week £1.45. Double cream 85p last week, 89p this week! Shock

Scabbersley · 09/11/2017 13:41

It's OK. I think if I'd greased the paper it would have been fine. It looks yummy looks desperaly at timer

prettybird · 09/11/2017 13:42

Scabbersley - did you use the mozzarella ball in water or a block of mozzarella/Edam? I've not made it yet, but I've seen people advising that the "good" mozzarella is too wet and that you need to use block mozzarella.

Rshard · 09/11/2017 13:43

Nice one cherry

TempusEejit · 09/11/2017 13:43

Scabbers did you use hard grated mozzarella? The recipe won't work with the wet stuff.

Furry, Cherrypi, Hippa well done! (and anyone else I've missed off)

I've just made cauliflower mash to use as a base for fishcakes tomorrow and tried a bit - I can't believe how much better the taste and texture is using proper cheddar in it compared with when I used to make a low fat/low calorie version with extra light cream cheese. There I was all this time thinking I wasn't too keen on it...pleased I have another side dish to add to my repertoire!

SayrraT · 09/11/2017 13:43

Scabbersly I thought almond flour and ground almonds were the same thing? I use ground in my fathead pizza but it's never spoonable. I usually roll it out between two sheets of baking paper.

Oh dear sing was it a bad day because you had those things or did you have them because it was a bad day?

SayrraT · 09/11/2017 13:45

Oh yes, I always use grated mozzarella not a wet ball.

Quick rant!!! I’m at the nec for an event. There is nothing NOTHING low carb. Sandwiches, toad in the hole, more sandwiches, sweet potato curry, breaded fish!! AngryAngry I expected a salad at least.

poorbuthappy · 09/11/2017 13:52

And yes, use hard grated mozzarella. Do not attempt to shred the wet stuff.

Scabbersley · 09/11/2017 13:52

I used a wet ball.

It's amazingly delicious though Grin

B: a creamy coffee at a friend's house
L: a fathead pizza all to myself. Feeling absolutely stuffed. Made half the amount of base, so 1 serving, and didn't cook it all. It was delicious!

OK bootcampers - is ok to chew sugar free gum? And how about sugar free squash every now and again?

Scabbersley · 09/11/2017 14:00

Quick, hide! It's BIWI!!

Hi BIWI!

PippleBang · 09/11/2017 14:00

I was supposed to start Boot Camp at the start of this one...October was a bad month! But I didn't gain any weight so that's a plus, right? I'm just tagging on the end now. Don't mind me! Grin

SayrraT · 09/11/2017 14:04

Shit....quick, everyone behave. Argh, where did I leave her stick?!

That is so annoying @BrassicaBabe I find it really frustrating at events like that. Is it really so hard to have something a bit healthy!

I’ve had a bit of a whoosh this morning. 2.5lbs gone since Monday. I wonder if it is related to the wine and slightly carby chicken last night as someone said earlier. I suspect it won’t stabilise for a while but it does put me at just over 13lbs gone in a calendar month. Not at all bad. Especially considering I’ve definitely drunk too much.

Meal times are a bit weird today as I’m flying in the evening and I’ll gain some time so only just had breakfast.

B- strawberries with creme fraiche and a tsp if almond butter, cup of boullion
L- ham, cheese, celery, whatever else I have in the fridge to use up.
D- whatever low carb bits of plane food BA have available.
S- nuts if needed.

TimbuktuTimbuktu · 09/11/2017 14:05

Hi BIWI did you have a nice holiday?

SayrraT · 09/11/2017 14:05

brassica can you eat the fillings of the sandwiches?

OP posts:
BrassicaBabe · 09/11/2017 14:14

Not at these prices @SayrraT!! Grin

TempusEejit · 09/11/2017 14:16

BIWI !!!!

Hiya Pipple

Scabbers sugar free gum is around 1g carb per piece, eat sparingly if you must. Check individual labels for sugar free squash as they can still contain a gram or two of carbs per serving which soon adds up over the course of a day. Could you drink fizzy water with fresh lemon instead?

Scabbersley · 09/11/2017 14:29

Thanks tempus! Sugar free gum is an emergency measure to combat low carb breath. Haven't drunk any sugar free squash yet but dd has a bottle of ribena winter spice which is nice hot.
