Ilovecherries thanks for asking Flowers - DH is no worse and no better really. He’s developed some leg weakness as well as the double vision but otherwise just the same. His MRI has been put back to this Saturday as it was too soon after his recent surgery to do it after last week. We’re hoping it’s some sort of autoimmune thing but obviously also worried it’s something worse. Am spending today ringing estate agents to pull out of our chain as we’ve been planning on moving, but with this going on he’s not able to make the job transfer he’s been hoping to. I think my ice cream moment was when I decided we’d definitely have to do that the other day. So yes- could be better! But just plodding on and hoping it’ll all be ok Brew.

ilovecherries · 30/10/2017 13:51

That's really tough Ave. Glad he isn't feeling worse in himself but can understand that you must be very anxious for answers. Hope this week passes quickly and uneventfully for you.

prettybird · 30/10/2017 13:54

That's brilliant DearPrudence Smile

Remember though that the first week whoosh is not normally repeated - it's mostly water. But it is indeed a nice boost.

blackteaplease · 30/10/2017 14:20

DrDiva I've had surgery on my sinuses, it worked for about 8 years but is.slowly going back to how it was.

Happy to answer questions if you have any

ClearEyesFullHearts · 30/10/2017 14:42

Down 1.2 lbs. Chuffed. Grin

ilovecherries · 30/10/2017 15:19

Happy dancing as I just won a contract for a training project. Pitched so long ago I'd almost forgotten about it. That will support my Hush habit for a few months Blush. I know the amount of fat on my body does not impact my brain, but I do feel much more confident standing up at pitch meetings now. To myself, I SOUND more dynamic and confident than I did before.

Grah0SoontobeaFitty · 30/10/2017 15:39

Hi all,
Day 1 of 49 only 49 days of rule following weight losing effort.

Are you Worth the effort ????
Can you forgo the temptations, do you believe You are strong enough to follow the 10 very simple rules for 49 days?

When tempted write down what it was that you really, really must eat or drink that's not allowed and DON'T CONSUME IT.

At the end of the week put all the things into the MFP and see the macro, carbs and calories. High carbs = water retention and fat storage.

Do you still want to consume it? Ok put it on the list of things you are going to have in 49 days. Warning, I gained 31lbs in 3 weeks of eating the I want but shouldn't list. has taken from May to now to lose that and more.

Today could not get 3 weights the same out of 10 attempts. ranged from 196.5 to 198.8 so put 197.5

@YoLoNovVitMe re Sexy bitch territory here I come! you're already there you're just toning up for adventure rides.

@CarbyDeadUn - time for something drastic, like has already been mentioned, cut milk, booze and up the fat.
Also,
Stand in front of a mirror with the booze in 1 hand and an outstretched empty hand, now think which 1 would you reach for and take from the reflection - the booze or you?

49 days that's all Day 1 is today and you have just 49 days to follow the rules. At the end of that you can say I did it I followed the rules I succeeded, now I .......

Day 1 of the rest of your life and your rules. stealing from BIWI say it out loud.
B ecause I 'm W orth I t

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 30/10/2017 15:51

Hi all, well done on the loses and the NSVs and if you’ve stalled just KOKO

I need some advice as I’m I’m really struggling with constipation and I’m not sure that I can sustain this woe as a way of life if I’m going to be “bunged up” all the time. (if this is TMI stop reading now) Ok there are lots of positives for me from doing this woe too.

I’ve been doing BC WOE for 12 weeks and have lost 12lb which I’m really pleased about 😀. I started in August between boot camps and learnt what to do by reading the spreadsheet and finding out as much as I could through threads on here, as well as getting loads of advice and support from people on the between BC threads. In all this time I can honestly say I have stuck to BC rules and haven’t cheated once, I’m not a saint or a paragon of virtue, but I’ve been determined to commit myself to doing this woe. I’ll keep to myself for now, my views on cheating or slipping off the wagon, and it’s neutralisation or legitimisation 😀

I’ve come to a kind of stall where my weight fluctuates weekly/daily by a few Ib and I know it’s because of being constipated and feeling bloated and uncomfortable, despite eating loads of veg, flaxseed mixed in with my yogurt and drinking 3 litres plus of water a day and taking magnesium but still I remain bunged up!! I have IBS which has been helped by BC. As well as doing the low carb high fat I’ve been doing IF 16:8 for about 5 days each week since about my 4th week.

I got to a point this weekend where I thought I’d take stock of my progress and plan my next few weeks a kind of mini November challenge as I’ve only got about 10lb max to lose and got to realising that I can’t keep the low carb up as a way of life if it means I’m constipated all the time and I’m thinking that I need to be eating more pulses like beans, lentils and seeds etc – they’ve always worked for me in shifting things!! But they aren’t compatible with The lchf woe.

I know that bowel function can be related to emotions, and for me stress can do it and it’s not helped by having workmen here digging up the footings for our new extension.

Has anyone got any experience of sorting out their constipation and doing lchf woe!
Thanks for reading this far 😀

Kleptronic · 30/10/2017 15:58

NoMore try konjac noodles, Sainsbos sell them as Bare Naked rice/noodles, they will def get you going.

ilovecherries · 30/10/2017 16:28

NoMore, I suffered terrible debilitating IBS before this woe, to the extent that some days it was lunch time before I could leave the house, and I was always afraid of eating too much unless I knew exactly where the loo was. Hated staying anywhere without an ensuite. Couple of weeks on this, and I had swung the other way, and was bunged up for days, and even when I needed, struggled to go (am I really telling the internet this Blush?). Anyway, the only thing that worked for me, after trying all the suggested solutions, was physillium (sp??) husk capsules from Holland and Barrett. Two caps three times a day with a pint of water. Took about two weeks to see regular improvement, but once I did, cut back to two caps twice a day. I'm finally at the stage of two caps morning only, which produces a regular and predictable result mid afternoon - triggered I suspect by lunch, as I don't eat breakfast. I'm sure this is more detail than anyone wants to know, but hey-ho. The key seemed to be persistence and not expecting an immediate resolution.

Grah0SoontobeaFitty · 30/10/2017 16:39

@NOMOREoatcakesandcheese
TMI WARNING reader beware

I go once or twice a week, if nothing for a few days when I do go it is whoosh, hum that was not much. Have to look. Holy @#$T its full.
or like those professional Weiner making machines a really really long one.

TMI WARNING OVER

If your nearly at your ideal weight then perhaps Garden Girl blog on has some links and as she said I find it helpful to read about new ways to think and some additional tools I'll need for life long weight maintenance.

HolgerDanske · 30/10/2017 16:49

NoMore I actually found that flaxseed really bungs me up, so first thing I would do is get rid of that. There is a noticeable difference for me when I eat it, which is a shame because I actually quite like it as a topping on yogurt (one of the only ways I will eat yogurt). I had to cut it out completely as it really did not sit well in my stomach at all and I used to get that cannonball feeling from it.

Other than that I would go with the capsules suggested already, as psyllium husks is one of the things I know works really well for a lot of people.

Mimosa1 · 30/10/2017 16:58

To the PP who has bathroom link which interferes with the scales (sorry on my phone so can't scroll back to check who it was), how do you deal with it? I've got the same issue. Might go to boots tomorrow to get a "real" weight.

Ollivander84 · 30/10/2017 17:03

< pokes head in >
I'm not on BC but I have low carbed a lot and wanted to show this
I weigh every day so I can get an average by plotting it into a graph. No joke, I had a plateau for three entire weeks. Then on day 22 I got on the scales and dropped 4lbs
The blue line is my weigh in every day, the yellow is the trend. So you can see how much it varies!
I started at 16st 10 and I'm now 14st 5 and still losing Smile KOKO

Week 4 - just got to KOKO
TempusEejit · 30/10/2017 17:14

Half a pound up on last week but totm has arrived in full force today so I'm fine with that result as it should even itself out next week.

Just to throw in my tuppence worth regarding this way of eating (I've been doing LCHF for 5 months now and have lost 3 1/2 stone so far)...

I think it's worth bearing in mind that this WOE is low carb high fat, not low carb unlimited fat. I've seen people fall into the trap of thinking calories don't count - this is true to the extent that if Bootcamp rules are being followed carefully then the carb, protein and calorie counts will take care of themselves. But consume significantly more fat than you need and it might negatively impact your losses - for example having six coffees a day each containing 2 tbsps double cream (I could easily do this!!). Or by eating an already very fatty cut of meat such as belly pork then still adding lots of butter to your veg in the same meal. You want your body to consume its own fat stores as well as the fat you're feeding it! Overdoing the protein by too much can also slow down losses.

So if you're having a stall (a genuine one - not just a slow week or two as weight loss is not a linear process) try tracking what you're actually eating and drinking - it might be an eye opener. You shouldn't be overly hungry on LCHF but it is not some miracle diet that allows you to overeat without consequences.

ponygirlcarcass · 30/10/2017 17:20

I have had a slight gain, but was expected - I had visitors all weekend so food was not always what I would have gone for but I did my best. I made us a low carb dinner for Friday night, had a salad for lunch on Saturday and no fried rice with Saturday's Chinese takeaway dinner or ice-cream for afters. But overall less water than usual, probably not anywhere near enough fat. and had lots of alcohol

Back to it today, confident that the gain will be dealt with swiftly and the new low I saw midweek will reappear. KOKO everyone.

HarlotsWeb · 30/10/2017 17:21

B coffee
L Parma ham, and a bowl of ff Greek yoghurt with raspberries
S crackling
D chicken madras with cauliflower rice

HarlotsWeb · 30/10/2017 17:21

Oh, and two squares of 99% chocolate as well.

HarlotsWeb · 30/10/2017 17:22

Made a huge effort with water today and still only managed two litres. That means another two to get through before bed, and therefore a midnight bladder call :)

Rshard · 30/10/2017 17:46

Well done for the losses and all bootcampers for koko’ing

B - total ff yoghurt
L - lettuce rocket tomato cucumber crustless quiche
D - broccoli cauliflower 3 small sausages

2 l water

Gammeldragz · 30/10/2017 17:47

I'll second what Tempus said. You can overeat on this WOE, especially if you forget to have veg with every meal (which I am very guilty of). If I feel myself getting out of hand, I will track with MFP for a few days. It is easy, especially with cream, nuts and other calorie dense foods, to overeat without getting that much nutritional benefit for your calories.
I think it's easy to go too 'Atkins' and not get enough veg. Trying to fill half the plate with veg is a good approach.

I had another plate of leftover dinner tonight, same as this morning but bigger. Didn't finish it, but at least I've had plenty of veg today. I have had 3 cups of tea with milk as I didn't think black coffee on an empty/sore stomach was a good idea.

Food shop tomorrow. Must plan my meals, we meal plan for the rest of the family but I don't plan my own meals!

SayrraT · 30/10/2017 17:57

Quick post from me, I'm at a meeting in Birmingham today and tomorrow. Have done ok on food today as I bought some lunch/low carb snacks before I got on the train.

Off down for dinner shortly.

Reading this as just starting today for the run up to Xmas. Am
About to hit 40 and my metabolism has massively slowed down - am in that zone where I really just need to except that I can’t eat what I like anymore so need all the moral
Support - good luck to the rest of you and well done on your current weight loss!

Tiddlywinks63 · 30/10/2017 18:20

This WOE is a revelation to me. I never imagined that I would stop eating crisps and drinking Diet Coke and craving Danish pastries and cream cakes. The thought of them actually makes me feel a bit sick!
I also never dreamt that I'd get down to under 11stone (I really can't remember the last time!), I actually saw 10st.12 a couple of days ago 😃
So, 19lbs off in about 4 months, whoopee!

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 30/10/2017 18:24

Thanks for your replies to my bunged up situation, I’m glad I asked people because I realise I how much I like this WOE and I don’t want to give it up because of my bunged-upness
@Grah0SoontobeaFitty thank you for you little gems of info. I’ll have a look at the site you linked to

@ilovecherries thank you for telling me about your Ibs etc I’ll go off to Holland and B tomorrow and get the capsules - one thing that has put me off with psyllium husk mixed with water is that it’s like drinking cold slime - I didn’t realise you could get the capsules - 👍
@Kleptronic thanks I’ll get some tomorrow

@HolgerDanske that might be the same for me, I never thought that it might be the flaxseeds bunging me up. - I do keep shovelling them in! They obviously aren’t going anywhere - just piling up (like a fatberg😀) in my guts.

I’m feeling happier now, thanks BCers 💐
