Alma you have made my day with news that lime pickle is low carb. Curry for tea tomorrow and suddenly more excited about it!

Holger your attitude to the November target sounds very healthy - we don't need anything demotivating. Like you, for me this WOE is far more about mental and emotional health, so when I now consider eating something I tend to think "is it worth it for how low and irritable I will feel after it?" rather than "is it worth it for how much weight I might put on?" Doesn't matter what our motivations are, we will all get there.

Today's food:

B: cheesy scrambled egg on half a protein roll
L: boiled egg and mayo
D: fathead pizza and salad. Not a great idea before weigh in tomorrow as it's so heavy but rest of the family were having homemade pizza and didn't want to feel left out.

Nowhere near enough veg today, shopping day tomorrow.

Fingers crossed for weigh ins everyone. I hit a good low during the week but not expecting it tomorrow....I need some of those psyllium husks, if you know what I'm saying (don't want to put you off your tea...)

MiniCooperLover · 05/11/2017 18:10

First week started off well and ended very badly indeed. Sadly MIL passed away after a short illness and so understandably the food issue went on the backburner while we were doing hospital visits and family duties. Plus too much alcohol in the evenings. But I’m determined to restart tomorrow morning 👍

prettybird · 05/11/2017 18:24

They're good, aren't they, Scabbersely ?! Grin

So easy and so quick to do for a snack. And even better, they're also good cold. Smile

BrassicaBabe · 05/11/2017 18:34

I fear I’ve blown tomorrow’s weigh-in. Roast lamb and cauli cheese for dinner. But I was greedy with my portion size Sad

wombattoo · 05/11/2017 18:40

Evening everyone.
Sorry some of you are having a rough time BlackMozart, Tempus and Mini Thanks Thanks Thanks

Gammeldragz · 05/11/2017 18:40

brassica I always do that with a roast, Monday is never my lowest weight!

Slightly better today but only a bit...
Lunch - greek yog, cream and cinnamon.
Snack - peanut butter out of the jar (have finished it now, stopped keeping it in the house for a while but thought I could trust myself. Apparently not. Lesson learned...)
Dinner - pork belly slices, roast butternut squash and kale.

I had vegetables. It's an improvement on yesterday. Weight is up, but I expected that.

Must. Drink. Water.

Hippadippadation · 05/11/2017 18:51

So sorry Mini Flowers

Brassica as long as there were no carbs, you should be ok. I remember eating an entire bag of pork scratchings and still hitting a new low the next day! I think it's something to do with the way your body uses calories from fat vs carbs? I'm not very sciency, so maybe someone else can explain better than me?

DrDiva · 05/11/2017 18:52

mini so sorry to hear about your MIL. Flowers

BrassicaBabe · 05/11/2017 19:02

Sorry for your loss Mini

Mimosa1 · 05/11/2017 19:10

Tempus thanks for your message. If things sts next week, I'll definitely look into a fast. I've been doing this WOE for a couple of months now, so I think I should be over the water/glycogen loss.

Mini very sorry to hear about your MIL. What a horrible shock. All the best to you and your family.

prettybird · 05/11/2017 19:13

So sorry Mini . Flowers to you and yours.

I think I've missed a few - it's difficult to skim on the phone. To those who've been having tough times, look after yourselves. Falling into carbs may feel good at the time I've done it myself but doublecheck with yourself (and be honest) if it is worth how you will feel afterwards. Sometimes it is the right thing to do, but more often than not, it is a short term fix that in the long term is a backward step.

StuntNun · 05/11/2017 19:17

A new Chinese and Thai takeaway has just opened near us and they sell crispy duck with big lettuce leaves instead of pancakes. So yummy, I don't know why I never thought of doing that myself.

Moanranger · 05/11/2017 19:26

Stunt watch the hoisin sauce, tho!
I made cauliflower "bread" today. Not bad, tho pretty strong cauliflower taste.
B egg & bacon.
S broccoli & Stilton soup
D courgetti & home made bolognese + cheese.
Things to drink are challenging. Today I lit on chai tea, Splenda & almond milk, not too much. See what tomorrow's WI bring, but like others I feel really good eating like this.

Scabbersley · 05/11/2017 19:40

D: roast pork, crackling, cauliflower cheese, green beans, glass of red.

Feeling not anxious! Everyone's home safe and cheerful.

DrDiva · 05/11/2017 20:09

I’m thinking my life would be much more complete with a ricer. Does it mash things like celeriac and cauliflower any better than a hand held masher?

Rshard · 05/11/2017 20:20

So sorry to hear about your mil miniFlowers

And Flowers to all others needing them

I have now tried the brussels - lush!
B - buttery eggs and bacon
L - cheese ham cucumber
D - hm chicken pie without the pastry broccoli Brussels
2 l water

Weighing on Tuesday I think, I went to a different branch of boots and was happy with the 1lb but I went to WW in Thursday (I’m using it as a mid week check until current monthly pass expires) and I was 2lbs down so thinking Mondays weigh in might not have been realistic? I can only go to the original one on Tuesdays so I’m going to stick those I think and be consistent

TempusEejit · 05/11/2017 20:57

Mini Flowers Flowers

starsky22 · 05/11/2017 21:05

mini sorry to hear that Flowers

holger thanks for the roast beef tips, but we'd already eaten by the time I saw your post, will be good for the leftover beef though! I had my beef with creamed leeks, brussel sprouts and a few carrots, no potatoes, but did have a bite of a yorkshire pudding. Still full, so no dinner.

Interestingly I am usually an abstainer and on my first BC, I was very strict and didn't touch any carby food. This time I am finding it much harder and have been having the odd bite of carby things. I think it is partly because I am getting closer to my target and so I am thinking about what I will eat after and whether I can cope with eating small amounts of carbs without it leading to a carb fest! At the moment I can limit myself, because I am still very focused on my target, but I worry that once I am there it won't be so easy and I will end up binge eating carbs until I put all the weight back on again.

SayrraT · 05/11/2017 21:18

Sometimes I hate Mumsnet! I wrote a long post and lost it!

Mini Flowers

Glad there is much more positivity on the thread today. It's a bit frustrating and i feel a bit "ffs" when it's a lot of posts about "i ate carby shit today". Because I am a bossy boots and want to tell you all to stop it! And because I want to see everyone have success and feel great and not feel like failures or be racked with guilt and self loathing. Trust me I've been there and it's miserable. I've turned my life around on this WOE and can't imagine how anyone wouldn't want to! I know. I'm too bossy and evangelical. And I am here to support anyone who needs it so please don't jump on me for saying ffs!

And my confession today in the spirit of irony is that I ate too much. Lovely lchf food but a lot of it. Because it was soooo delicious. I am a very greedy girl. Its all a learning experience though, and I have already downsized to a small dinner plate. Now it will have to be a side plate for my dinner so I can control my "eyes are bigger than my stomach" tendency. Feel free to berate me and tell me ffs!

YoLoNovVitMe · 05/11/2017 21:33

Loving the horaffe!

Kleptronic · 05/11/2017 21:34

Mini so very sorry to hear about your mil Flowers

Tempus ha ha yes they are delicious

I've had too much wine and nuts this weekend so not that optimistic about tomorrow's weigh in and next weekend is a hen do. But I am gradually moving down and enjoying cooking and what I'm eating more than usual so I'm not going to stres about it

FurryTurnip · 05/11/2017 22:19

Sod the carbs, I now want a giraffehorse!
