Morning everyone Smile as BIWI is away I have the honour of starting the week 4 thread.

I going to give you all the usual reminder that in week 4 it is PERFECTLY NORMAL for weight loss to stall. So you may sts or even see a gain.

Do not panic! Just KOKO Smile

I've gained this week, portion sizes were just too big when I was away last week.

SoMuchToBits · 30/10/2017 09:12

Actually Holger, one of the things I was going to say is that the support and advice from more experienced bootcampers is one of the really great things about this thread even if the advice isn't always what we want to hear.

I think that most of us when we start low carbing can't imagine not eating some of our favourite carby foods. This is quite normal, as we live in a high carb world and carbs are everywhere. I think it takes more than a few days to become fat adapted/start seeing food in a different way. That's where the experiences of the long term low carbers are very valuable. For example, I was very struck by Ilovecherries post about how she hasn't drunk alcohol for so long, and now doesn't miss it and isn't sure she will want to drink it again.

For me, being reminded of the rules and kept on the straight and narrow is really important, because one of the aims of bootcamp is to change our expectations of what we will eat, and our palate, for a long term WOE. And going off plan not only won't help in the short term (we might stall or gain) but it also undermines our long term goals and makes them harder to achieve.

I hope that makes sense!

JumpingIntoLCHF · 30/10/2017 09:17

Please can someone add my new weight? 247 so 3 down this week and 7 down since the beginning of bc. Thanks.

Rshard · 30/10/2017 09:18

I've added your 247 singadream

1lb for me, so a total of 9 which i'm really pleased about.

wecantallbeperfect · 30/10/2017 09:19

Pretty much STS, however, I'm okay with that. KOKO at least I haven't gained :) Have a great week everyone.

ilovecherries · 30/10/2017 09:26

Holgari always fine your comments thoughtful and helpful. Don't stop!

YoLo, I'm like you, I've come to realise and accept this is a lifestyle choice for me now. It may have to be forever, and I've come to terms with that. I hope as time goes on that I can perhaps be a little more flexible that I've been for the last 5 months, but if I can't, then that's ok to. I want to be healthy, and if this woe is the price for that, it's worth it. I'm lighter now than I've been for 25 years. I got a second chance at life when a brilliant surgeon managed to fix my ruined leg and get me on my feet again. This woe has given me the chance to make it a quality life, and I'm taking it. My only regret is I didn't find it many years ago.

YoLoNovVitMe · 30/10/2017 09:38

Yes, regrets about the lost and wasted years...ilove me too. But I try not to dwell and I'm really looking forward to the rest of my life!

TimeIhadaNameChange · 30/10/2017 09:39

1.5 lbs for me which I'm pleased with, and a tad surprised by after yesterday. But yesterday's naughtiness did result in 3 large bm (sorry, far tmi!) this morning which were long overdue.

Interesting what pp said at the end of last week's thread about mindful and non-mindful off-piste moments. I find Saturday's really hard, as there's no plan, so that's when I'm likely to go non-mindfully off track. This weekend, for example, I didn't eat anything til about 4 at which point the munchies struck, and I ended up eating a pack of Melba toast (6 small pieces). It wasn't as bad as it could have been, and I was surprised I was able to cook up a decently LCHF dinner, but still, I hadn't planned it.

Yesterday was far worse in terms of what I ate, but, other than some cookie dough, I'd planned for it.

I really do need to sort out Saturdays. Mon-Fri I have coffee for breakfast; a salad followed by yoghurt and double cream for lunch, and then a LCHF dinner. Sundays is a fry-up for brunch and a roast for dinner, but Saturdays tend to fall by the wayside. Not helped by the fact that we do our shopping on Sundays so Saturdays can be low on veg and I just get uninspired. Grrrr.

GuyMartinsSideburns · 30/10/2017 09:42

Morning all! I haven't weighed today cos even though I had a low carb roast yesterday I always end up bloated and weigh more, even though I don't have a huge amount. So realising this I decided not to weigh cos I'll only feel crap afterwards Grin I def haven't been a carby twat but I'm probably going to have to cut down the milk at some point, it's my downfall.

Have a great day all

Veryflummoxed · 30/10/2017 09:44

Thanks for the thread SayrraT.
I stayed the same. But no surprise there. All LC but definitely comfort eating.
Could someone add me please

Veryflummoxed 189

ragz how about some homemade soup or an omelette.** Hope you’re better soon.

Carby I’d also suggest no alcohol and less dairy perhaps eggs more frequently.* That’s what I intend to do (once my leftover pork in cream and cheese casserole is all used up) but I rarely drink anyway.*

Holger you keep posting. Apart from anything else we all find different ways of support helpful because we’re all very different people. I find your posts are very thoughtful.

Oh and you really are a lovely lot. Smile

FurryTurnip · 30/10/2017 10:31

Morning all, well done on the losses and the staying the same- a great result for those of you at end of week 3.

I am a week behind you and have a loss of 1.25 lbs. Happy with that, though earlier in the week I showed a loss of 2.5lbs so I know there's the potential for that in there somewhere!

I have updated the spreadsheet as I had my start weight slightly wrong. But, I am having problems with converting from stone to pounds. I suspect I am being dim, but bear with me....

My start weight was 11 stone 9 lbs. I am now 11 stone 2 and three quarters. So total loss is 6 and a quarter pounds. (Hurray)

BUT: when doing it in pounds (same with spreadsheet) my start weight was 166.6lbs. Current weight 158lbs. Take that from the starting weight and it says 8.6lbs total loss.

Am I being dim?? I know I've not lost 8.6lbs but can't work out what I am doing wrong?

If anyone can shed any light I'd be very grateful!

twinkledag · 30/10/2017 10:33

2lbs off this week 😁

twinkledag · 30/10/2017 10:34

@CarbyDeadUn - I know it's frowned upon but I calorie count as well as do low carb.

Gammeldragz · 30/10/2017 10:35

very thanks. I have just got up, washed dishes and eaten a small bowl of last night's dinner (celeriac mash, sprouts, broccoli, a small sausage and gravy!) - now back to bed with a peppermint tea to see how my stomach copes with that assault. I am very proud of myself as I had given myself permission to have toast if that was all I could face. But I didn't!
carby my second bootcamp I was up and down the in the same 4lb range for about 6 weeks. Never did figure out why really. For some reason this bootcamp I seem to be losing quite well. Which I hadn't expected at all. It may be nothing you are doing, just one of those things. Weight loss isn't linear...
If I feel I'm not getting anywhere I track calories as well, to reassure myself that I am in a deficit, but you may not be up for that. I use MFP and like that it gives me pie charts of my macros too :)

singadream · 30/10/2017 10:37

Any ideas how to make a flourless white cheesy sauce?

Gammeldragz · 30/10/2017 10:39

furry 11 stone is 154lbs, so 11 stone 9lbs would be 163lbs? 11 stone 2 and 3/4 would be 156.75?

Gammeldragz · 30/10/2017 10:40

sing I used a tub of cream cheese, melted in a pan, with grated cheddar, mustard - loosen with cream/milk to desired thickness.

singadream · 30/10/2017 10:44

without cream cheese. which i hate. even when you can't taste it

singadream · 30/10/2017 10:45

thank you @Gammeldragz but I meant to say I hate cream cheese

HolgerDanske · 30/10/2017 10:50

Mascarpone would probably work. It is a cheese but doesn't taste like it at all, in fact it's really more like a very, very thick cream. And I really don't like that horrid taste you get from cream cheeses so if I can eat it I reckon it would be fine for you....

Ohhh that reminds me, my o/h makes a wonderful dish of chicken breast stuffed with garlic, herbs and mascarpone, and wrapped in prosciutto. Soo good, nice and light with a lovely sauce from the cooking juices, and definitely LCHF friendly! I might ask him to make that for me this weekend. I eat so much better when I am at his house! Grin

HolgerDanske · 30/10/2017 10:56

Thanks all for your assurances to keep posting - I wasn't fishing for compliments, honest, but I do appreciate it. Sometimes I can get a bit zealous but it's only because this woe has helped me so much. I am another one who was unexpectedly diagnosed with type 2 and originally lost 3 stone due to low carbing. But the weight really is the least important aspect of it, for me. I am so, so much happier now, and feel well. Yes I put some back on (have had two years of a very stressful, thankless job and comfort eating is my natural coping mechanism) but overall I am still waaaaaay better off than I was back in the day.

Breakfast today (unusual because I don't normally want breakfast) was a mushroom omelette with avocado on the side. Have had three cups of tea so far, each with the merest hint of milk. From next week I'm planning to switch to earl grey/lady grey for proper tea and have it with lemon instead.

SoMuchToBits · 30/10/2017 11:09

sing, I make cheese sauce just by heating up some double cream and adding grated cheese. It seems to work fine!

Holger, yes for me too the weight loss is good, but the fact I feel so much healthier and better on this WOE is the main thing (which I hadn't realised would happen before I embarked on it).

singadream · 30/10/2017 11:12

Thanks @HolgerDanske and @somuchtobits - will try those.

prettybird · 30/10/2017 11:24

Singadream - what are you wanting it for? If it's a lasagne (made with courgette strips of course rather than pasta Wink), ricotta or cottage cheese mixed with a beaten egg and layered with mozzarella and Parmesan works well.

singadream · 30/10/2017 11:29

Thanks @prettybird. I struggle with cottage cheese too. Basically I don;t really like most cheeses! Except melted cheddar. Just trying to think of new recipes....
