Morning everyone Smile as BIWI is away I have the honour of starting the week 4 thread.

I going to give you all the usual reminder that in week 4 it is PERFECTLY NORMAL for weight loss to stall. So you may sts or even see a gain.

Do not panic! Just KOKO Smile

Hi all!

@starsky I can't remember if you do or don't like celeriac, but if you do and if you can get your hands on one in time, I really recommend Nigel's celeriac remoulade to go with roast beef. It's a very, very good accompaniment to beef. I'd also have some pickled gherkins and some thinly sliced red onion with it (having been marinated in vinegar for a while beforehand to soften it a little). Maybe a root veg mash too, or some stuffed portobello mushrooms? As long as you have lovely bits on the side you probably won't miss the roasties!

TimbuktuTimbuktu · 05/11/2017 12:40

Morning all.

God knows what’s going on with me at the moment. I weighed yesterday morning and I’d put on half a stone since I went away. Weighed again today and it was down to +3lbs which seems more reasonable. The only think I can think is that I had a vodka and Diet Coke on the flight back and I wonder if she gave me real coke by mistake. I was really hungry too.

I’m hoping it’s going to go away again by tomorrow.

I’m back to the States again next weekend and somewhat dreading it. It’s so hard to maintain this diet when you are away and eating out all the time. How I got so fat in the first place

I really get the self sabotage thing. Don’t really have any advice but I have found the links posted helpful.

Thiswillbemyusername · 05/11/2017 13:50

I miss my morning scrambled eggs, cheese and avocado Sad still at a relative's with DD. Was taken out for breakfast this morning to a church/table top sale thing and all they had to eat were sausage and bacon cobs, toast, that sort of thing. I had a sausage and bacon cob, didn't take the contents out of the cob like I did with my burger last night as I didn't want people to think I was weird (last night it was dark because we were at a bonfire so noone noticed). Have just turned down cake so I think I'm getting the hang of moderation, though it has left me feeling rather hungry but that could be due to the lack of fat eaten this weekend. Looking forward to going home and planning my meals again.

Almahart · 05/11/2017 13:55

Just made the onion bhajis up thread. OMG. They are amazing. -also discovered that lime pickle is low carb. The bhajis seems a bit too good to be true though there is a LOT of ground almonds in them

blackteaplease · 05/11/2017 14:28

Scabbersley I've been getting headaches too. Mine seem to go if I have a bovril and 2 paracetamol and also up the water. They are horrendous though.

Scabbersley · 05/11/2017 14:48

Thanks blacktea and ragz I THINK I've been drinking enough - on my worst day it would be 1.5l, usually between 2 and 2.5l. not sure about salt - I like salt and eat quite a lot of tamari. I have taken 2 dissolvable paracetamol every day for the last 4 days! Bovril is a really good idea I will buy some.

Scabbersley · 05/11/2017 14:49

B: last half a protein roll, butter marmite. Kippers and butter!
L: tuna pate, cucumber, microwaved buttery sprouts
D: not sure might make roast pork

blackteaplease · 05/11/2017 14:54

You might want to double check your water intake against the spreadsheet Scabbersley. The minimum is 2.5l for someone that weighs 140lbs. I don't know what you weigh but thought it would be worth having a quick look at.

Scabbersley · 05/11/2017 14:58

yes I think I'm supposed to be 3l. I will up it. That will be my goal this week. I've got to cut back on the coffee because of my anxiety. A friend's ds died a couple of weeks ago and I think this has triggered my anxiety Sad

SoMuchToBits · 05/11/2017 14:58

I only had the headaches in the first few days, but what helped then was plenty of water and some hot water with a little Marmite stirred in. I really felt I needed that savoury fix for a few days.

BlackMozart · 05/11/2017 14:59

Afternoon to you all and thank you to all those who have offered their kindness on the loss of my dog Jess. I was really touched by it. Prettybird it was lovely to read your story and see the pictures of those beautiful Siamese. For the poster who asked what colour Jess was, she was a blue. She was buried this morning close to our old Labrador and the sun was shining, it was a beautiful morning. And now I will stop posting about her.
Food wise I had pork belly and Bok Choi for dinner last night and 2 fried eggs and some fried halloumi for breakfast. Lunch was a plate of deli bits and we’re having chicken stuffed with Boursin and wrapped in bacon for dinner with broccoli and cauliflower. Then it’s fireworks in the next village.
From tomorrow I’m cutting out bacon and sausage but will have some Serrano ham to use up but will make that my only processed meat this week. My goal is to eat more fish.

TempusEejit · 05/11/2017 15:47

Holger I made Nigel's celeriac remoulade yesterday, thanks for recommending! DH had it with some antipasti for lunch yesterday then we both had the rest with dinner in lieu of coleslaw with cheeseburger (cloud bread bun) and courgette fries, was absolutely delicious.

alma which bhaji recipe did you use in the end?

scabbersley I hope your headache(s) goes soon and your anxiety eases.

I feel a bit flat today, it's the anniversary of me finding out my dad only had a couple of weeks left to live. I got the phone call whilst listening to my neighbours' fireworks display going off in the background so Bonfire night always brings it all back to me. Dad wasn't a nice man at all but the sound of fireworks still triggers feelings of sadness and regret. Sorry, just needed to get that out there somewhere.

Anyway, today's food:
B - fasting
L: almond milk hot chocolate
D: keto breaded southern fried chicken strips with mini celeriac rostis and buttered mange tout, low carb chocolate mousse

KOKO everyone

Mimosa1 · 05/11/2017 15:58

Tempus sorry to hear this is an upsetting time of year for you.

I went to a Halloween party and managed to resist the cakes and sweets, but the weight isn't falling off me like it has been. Being back at work from next week might actually be helpful as
1 - less time to snack
2 - bit more walking
3 - my lovely DH has bought me a water bottle to inspire more drinking, and I'm planning to keep it at my desk.

My Low-vember goal of 165lbs / 75kg is feeling unachievable today Sad oh well, if I'm lighter than I am today by the end of the month, that's still a result. I have an awful feeling that having lost the baby weight, my body has just naturally reset itself at this point - a weight that I had been prepregnancy for 2 years without major fluctuations - and somehow I don't "believe" it will go any lower, so what's the point? I must keep reminding myself that half a pound a week is still 26 pounds a year. Sorry for the ramble!

TempusEejit · 05/11/2017 16:27

We all have those "what's the point?" days Mimosa, I'm sure you'll get your mojo back. Apparently fasting is the way to reset your bodyweight set-point (check out Dr Jason Fung if you haven't already) but maybe give LCHF a bit longer first before resorting to measures you might not actually need! Btw good luck with your return to work Smile

Hippadippadation · 05/11/2017 16:27

Mimosa the fast weight loss at the beginning of this WOE is mostly water & glycogen. Then it "slows" to a more normal and healthy 1lb a week-ish. You'll get there.

NSV: managed to easily avoid SIL's white chocolate birthday cake. We only just got back from lunch in time for me to make everyone a coffee and then I had to go to work. I'm assuming they'll leave it at our house but I won't be tempted by it or have to justify not eating it when I'm not in "company." I was dreading having to turn it down and the associated fuss and arguments.

HolgerDanske · 05/11/2017 16:34

I wonder I feel weight-related goals might actually be counter-productive. I've decided to drop my low-vember weight loss goal. I don't feel like it motivates me in the right way and it sets me up for feeling as if achieving less than goal is a failure, when actually all that's happened is the journey is different to what I envisaged. For me this woe is the end, it's not just a means to weight loss. So I am going to focus on NSVs and health/mental wellbeing as my goals. The weight loss, at whatever pace it happens, is a happy byproduct.

TempusEejit · 05/11/2017 16:46

Well done Hippa, I used to love white chocolate cake, especially the one from Sainsbury's. I bought a milk chocolate cake for one of my DSCs a while ago and absentmindedly licked a bit of chocolate icing that had got on my finger...ugh it was so sweet! It helps keep me on track as I know if I ate regular cake now it would be unpleasantly sweet (whilst appreciating that it wouldn't take much for my tastebuds to adapt back to that level of sweetness so I still need to be careful).

Holger it sounds like you've done the right thing regarding your Lowvember weight loss goal - after all it's there for motivation not demotivation! I love this quote: "Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway."

ClearEyesFullHearts · 05/11/2017 16:53

AlmaHart do you get a proper crunch with celeriac as a nacho base?

Mexican food is an absolute weakness of mine. I find I can roll along nicely using salad instead of tortilla for burritos & fajitas, but enchiladas certainly don't work as well and tacos & nachos really feel better for me with a proper crunch accompaniment!

Am very willing to experiment, though.

Almahart · 05/11/2017 16:58

I'm afraid it's not super crunchy but I just do mine in the oven. If you deep fried them or coated them with ground almonds you might get more of a crunch.

It feels incredibly carby though!

I'm afraid I can't find the onion bhaji recipe now but it was linked to up thread

Grah0SoontobeaFitty · 05/11/2017 16:59

Hi ladies.

If stalling headaches or experiencing anxiety check all your marconutrients magnesium potassium b12 b6 ......
Most days take a multvitaim then a couple of times a week boost with mag iron pot .
Not scientific but seems to work at keeping headaches away this boot camp.

Almahart · 05/11/2017 17:00

Ooh I just found it in my open tabs. Can't link on phone but it's on the uktv website

Scabbersley · 05/11/2017 17:16

I do take supplements plus extra magnesium. Is there lots of potassium in bananas? As I used to eat a LOT of bananas!

Veryflummoxed · 05/11/2017 17:21

Eating left over firework party food. No carbs for me.

TempusEejit · 05/11/2017 17:25

That's the bhaji link I posted Alma Grin I was just checking in case you'd made the other recipe and it was better/easier. They are awesome though aren't they?! Great addition to a lunchbox too.

Scabbersley · 05/11/2017 17:27

Omg. Microwaved sprouts with salt and butter are amazing.
