BIWI · 20/07/2015 07:23

Morning all!

Here, for the last time this Bootcamp is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Hopefully the scales will be kind to you for our last weigh-in!

For those of you that are still here - even you lurking at the back! - it would be great to hear how much you've lost this Bootcamp.

And also, we'll keep this thread going for chat - when it fills up I'll start another general low carb chat thread.

gcal, 'carbivore' is funny but sad too, silly man does not know what he is missing!

billabye · 01/08/2015 09:08

I'd definitely stay in a LC B&B. I wish there were more LC eateries as well which would make life easier and avoid the temptation of the odd chip etc.

Lex, how do you make that crumble please?

StoneFoxMama · 01/08/2015 10:14

Lex there is a little jewellers opposite the pump rooms with a workshop on the premises, they are reasonable. There is also Nicholas wylde (bit overpriced) and the gold and platinum studio, both on northumbaland place. These are the only on site workshops and the high street jewellers will also do it for you but they will have to send it away to a workshop off site.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 01/08/2015 10:19

Just waving at you all in passing - still having problems, dry toast and boiled rice here - will be back soon. Losing weight though...

billabye · 01/08/2015 10:45

Thumb, hope you feel better soon. Sounds grim Sad

miffy49 · 01/08/2015 12:58

Lex, Gcal we actually prefer pork belly roasted. I never have much success with the slices. DH and I have worked in a butchers shop so I buy mine whole from a local wholesaler and one of us will bone it out and joint it. I rub the scored skin with sea salt and slow roast it in a flat piece on a trivet of carrots and onions. (We don't eat the veg so the carbs don't matter.) The veg stops it sticking to the tin and keeps it nice and soft on the bottom. You get yummy pork dripping too. Grin You've set me fancying now and I've had to buy leg pork this week as I've run out of belly and the supermarket only had it stuffed.

Beccus · 01/08/2015 15:27

I did it! I skipped a meal yesterday and nothing bad happened. I was hungry yesterday at Breakfast, then not hungry for lunch until 330 and then not hungry at dinner, so skipped it. I was worried I'd wake up hungry in the middle of the night, but I was fine Smile

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 01/08/2015 15:50

Thanks Billabye - signs today have been better, so fingers crossed! :)

StuntNun · 01/08/2015 18:00

Linkey to low carb berry crumble recipe

If I have a big piece of pork belly then I roast it. For the slices then I put them in the slow cooker with some water on low for 3-4 hours to make them tender. Then I slice them into half-inch sections and fry them in lard with lots of salt. You can do a big batch in the slow cooker then portion them out and store in the fridge or freezer.

Gcalgske · 01/08/2015 21:01

Sounds yummy stunt! Miffy it sounds good (am jealous of butchery skills btw) but I LOVE crispy pork fat so so much it's bordering on unseemly, slicing and frying seems to give me more surface area to crisp. Ghawd I really want some now.
Get better soon thumb. Beccus sounds brill, there was a video by butter Bob about fasting I saw yesterday that might interest you. Was about fasting Ms how it makes the body access fat stores.

LondonBetti · 02/08/2015 09:29

Help, please! I've stalled for a month despite exercising (I was doing none Blush) and being strict on carbs and water. My measurements aren't changing either.

I am eating 1500+ calories / day and usually under 50g carbs. No nuts, no fruit, limited dairy. Doing 11k steps a day and shredding most days.

Has this happened to anyone else? I lost 20lbs on bootcamp which was brilliant but maybe my body is fighting back? Does body tolerance change - is 50g carb too much?

Thanks all. Flowers to everyone who just started LC, it does work if you stick with it!

Gcalgske · 02/08/2015 09:52

50g carbs is quite high for me, I don't lose much above 20g but everyone is different. Sounds like you are doing a lot of exercise, are you gaining muscle maybe? Do you feel leaner? If I were you I'd probably do a few days of über camp and see if that kick started anything. X

miffy49 · 02/08/2015 13:37

Have you much left to lose LondonBetti? Often you get long spells of maintaining as you approach target.

I'm like Gcal in that I can't tolerate anything over 20g carb but I am pre diabetic and was sliding into full blown Type 2 when I started LC so my metabolism is a bit dodgey. Maybe try the Atkins way of dropping right down to 20g for a couple of weeks to see if that sets things moving. When the weight loss starts again you can increase by 5g a week until you find your own personal level.

You could just be replacing fat with muscle. I know your measurements haven't changed but you could be tightening up in places you didn't measure. An old GP of my mother's used to say to forget scales and jump up and down in front of mirror. If nothing jiggles that shouldn't you are the right weight! Grin I know my torso measurements have stayed the same for ages but my arms and thighs are changing.

You can over exercise you know. You have gone from nothing to shredding every day. Try knocking it back to 3 days a week. It lets your muscles repair and that's when they get stronger and leaner.

Good luck. Try and book a visit from the Whoosh Fairy if you can find the devious little bugger!Grin

LexLoofah · 02/08/2015 21:07

stone thanks will give those ones a call, sounds like I should be able to get them done in Bath, only had them made bigger a few years ago so a bit annoying to have to go to the expense and palaver of having them reduced but not complaining as things obviously shrinking and this time won't have to suffer the embarrassment of having them cut off Blush

stunt thanks for doing the link, have been out all day on the Shaun the Sheep trail in Bristol, lots of fun and lots of walking

gcal I like crispy pork fat too but all the ways sound good, will experiment

thumb hope you feel better

Gcalgske · 02/08/2015 23:15

Today's food:

Bpc and supplements, 2x tsp almond butter
Cucumber, 2x pork belly slices, mug bone broth
Chicken curry (HM - coconut oil, chicken, spices, tinned toms, coconut milk, green pepper, mushrooms, shallot, bone broth) served on big olive oil roasted mushrooms
Cheesey crackers as I was perilously close to a wobble.

Hubby is on holiday and I don't know why but I feel like my routine is up in the air and very close to saying 'sod it' and having something off plan. I know it's not worth it and seriously if I was to say to myself 'go for it' I genuinely can't think what I'd eat - I'm not craving as such just feeling a bit sh*t. We always have carbage in the house but none of it appeals. Just need a kick up the bum.

SayraT · 03/08/2015 08:03

Hello!!

Long time since I've managed to get on this thread Blush and a long time since I've eaten truly LC. Back on it now as I can see that I've put weight on, my belly is bigger and I feel lethargic. I don't know why I keep having to prove to myself that LC is the way forward. I know it is so why do I go back to carby twatness?!

Over the next day or two I will be having some not completely BC foods that I have bought, fruit and 1 yogurt, I have chucked out the other really carby things.

The other day I bought a new piece of kitchen equipment, a cream charger Grin yummy whipped cream but not sweetened. We call the cream in a can "skooshy cream" in Scotland, not sure what others call it. Useful for desserts etc, much more fun than whipping.

Food Today

B: Three eggs fried in butter, coffee with cream
L: Salad, tuna mayo, wee block of cheese
S: FF (not LC) yogurt, cherries
D: Pork and chorizo burgers and salad

Gcalgske · 03/08/2015 08:24

Sayra hello!!
I'm in Scotland too so call it skooshy cream too (think the official term is sqirty thoughGrin)
I buy the anchor extra thick which is unsweetened but I've been after an aerosol charger for ages because whipped coconut cream sounds amazing. Nice to see you around. Xx

backonthewagon · 03/08/2015 08:27

Does anyone do a weekly meal plan they would like to share with me?

StuntNun · 03/08/2015 08:41

Sayra would the charger work with coconut cream do you think?

Gcalgske · 03/08/2015 09:35

There are loads of recipes for vegan whipped cream using an aerosol/ cream charger stunt. I'm wanting to try it for my daughter- it looks simple enough once you have the right kit.

BIWI · 03/08/2015 09:45

backonthewagon - if you look at the ubercamp, on the spreadsheet, there are three days' worth of meals (with a shopping list as well!) which might help you. (They are very low carb and also dairy-free). Some of them are for meat and some of them are for fish, and some are with and some are without eggs - so if you took them altogether you might be able to squeeze a week's worth of meals out of them!

I chose not to weigh again today which is my own cop out way of saying that while I have been on the wagon 80% of the time, the other 20% is up for discussion - NOT good!

So this is my promise that I WILL weigh in next Monday, and with that as my motivation to stay strict, I will also be posting food every day, and not 'accidentally' leaving things off my list. So here goes:

B - ff greek with berries, coconut flakes, flax and some raw cocoa nibs
L - will be a salad from work canteen involving tuna mayo, boiled egg, salad leaves
D - will be a smoked mackerel salad including some kind of home made celeriac remoulade / coleslaw. Possibly with an incongruous side dish of egg fried cauli rice (have some cauli rice to use up from last week)
Snacks - I may have some 85% choc after dinner and may have a piece of cheese when I get home from work, when the DDs are having a snack.

I have done an online shop which will be delivered tomorrow and which includes a shoulder of pork to slow cook and some chicken thighs with skin on to BBQ. Will also have something with salmon as I don't think I have been eating enough fish.

KOKO everyone!

SayraT · 03/08/2015 10:40

Ooh, I don't know stunt but if it did that would be tasty! I'll give it a go once the cream is finished.

Patapouf · 03/08/2015 12:07

My spiralizer arrived today and I can't to give it a go. Looks much more fun easier than using a julienne peeler!

B:coyo
L: few sticks of cheese, cucumber and some ham roll ups with Philly
D: Thai green curry from scratch with spinach and buttery mushrooms.

Are we allowed parsnips? Ever? I saw a lovely recipe for steak and parsnip fries in a low carb cookbook but I guess they are lower carb rather than low carb!!

Gcalgske · 03/08/2015 12:27

I think Parsnips are about 18g/100g so very high :( sorry pata, not low carb. X
