BIWI · 20/07/2015 07:23

Morning all!

Here, for the last time this Bootcamp is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Hopefully the scales will be kind to you for our last weigh-in!

For those of you that are still here - even you lurking at the back! - it would be great to hear how much you've lost this Bootcamp.

And also, we'll keep this thread going for chat - when it fills up I'll start another general low carb chat thread.

Trash what vitamins do you take?! I'm exhausted all the time Confused

Am contemplating making some dark chocolate truffles with some almond butter in.

Tillli · 30/07/2015 16:09

Thumb do you think it's too much fat and nuts? I get bouts of needing the loo if I eat excess fat.

ZOEC8401 · 30/07/2015 17:31

is there a new LC bootcamp starting soon? I know I am coming to the LCBC wagon late!!

Tillli · 30/07/2015 17:51

Not till October I think BIWI said ZOE. Smile. For now this and any continuing thread will be for chatting and those of us who are keeping on with this way of eating. Im starting today on bootcamp light so the support will be very much needed.

trashcanjunkie · 30/07/2015 19:25

alma I take very large doses of vitamin d3 (four times the recommended daily allowance) and twice the amount of b complex, plus a multivitamin, high dose vitamin c and a vitamin e. I must stress I do this at my own peril, but yes I genuinely feel a difference.

Stuntnun suggested I add magnesium, which I will order now, before I forget. being tired all the time sucks big time. For me it can be made worse by being pre menstrual or stressed, which I am a bit of both at the moment. I'm waiting to hear if I've made it onto a really excellent on the job training course which starts in January, and will literally be a massive life change for the better. I hear anytime from Monday if I'm through, and it's been a bloody long road getting here.

I've got a student staying with me at the moment who is terrified of dogs. We own a staffie and a chihuahua. He screamed when the chihuahua came near him. It's been a huge pain in the bum. I work with dogs and summer is my busiest time. I'm currently looking after a ginormous young idiotic lurcher, who also elicited screaming. Tomorrow two more dogs arrive. Another massive greyhound, and a right bastard of an Irish terrier who is nicknamed Hannibal Lector. I honestly don't know if the student will stick it out. I'm spending increasing amounts of time in my bedroom with them all. The student is mostly in his room too, but cos he acts all skittish and weird when he comes through to use the loo, the dogs all sit up and look at him. I think he's gonna loose his shit soon. Why oh why would you say you are ok with dogs if you aren't? It's a frequent occurrence with my foreign students. I wonder if they just haven't considered it properly.

Anyway, food. I made a delicious slow cooked meal. I have been adding water to beef, but it turns it into dogmeat imo. This time I chopped an aubergine and stuck it in the slow cooker with a shallot, a clove of garlic, some braising steak and nearly a full pack of butter and some salt. The result was pretty bloody special I can tell you. The downside? I have to leave half for dp who's out surfing.

Beccus · 30/07/2015 22:20

ok, I think I've done a little better with the not eating unless hungry thing. I wasn't that hungry this morning, so omitted my usual scrambled eggs for breakfast and just had a bpc and veg smoothie and was fine until lunch. I wasn't that hungry at dinner either, so didn't eat that much. feels so strange not to be having a proper meal. ..wonder if I will ever actually fully skip one.

Gcalgske · 30/07/2015 23:00

Food today:
BPC, supplements
Belly pork in chilli powder
Cauliflower in bacon cheese sauce with mustard

Tillli · 30/07/2015 23:07

Just had a small bowl of Linwoods flaxseed cocoa, strawberry and blueberry cereal with almond milk. Yum.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 31/07/2015 06:31

Tilli - no, don't think so, haven't had this problem before on boot camp (and I'm not eating nuts anyway).

However, after day 3 of this shit (literally! Wink) I have decided that I have to go off BC for a couple of days, be a total carby twat and eat dry carbs until it stops, then re-start BC when bowel regulation is restored. I have lost another 3lb courtesy of this "situation" but am under no illusion that it will stay off when things return to normal, but still - it's a good place to be weight-wise for now.

So - will return in a couple of days when I'm over it all and ready to go again :)

Almahart · 31/07/2015 07:30

Thanks trash. I so hope you get good news next week.

Staying in your room with the dogs is a right pain, can't you keep them

Almahart · 31/07/2015 07:32

downstairs with you while your student scurries from bedroom to bathroom? Is he not out at classes. Screaming not really on is it.

LexLoofah · 31/07/2015 07:49

Thanks for jeans recommendations, am in SW stoneso heading to Bath next week and possibly Bristol so should be able to get sorted there, hopefully without trawling round every shop, yes high waisted for me and damn whatever the fashion is. I should wait until in next size down but mine are falling off, perhaps cheapie stop gap is the way to go for now

Well it looks like I did indeed lose 8lb somewhere over the Atlantic, hope the results of eating carbs is not still in the post, if not I am now within 10lb of the top end of my ideal range so must focus focus focus

trash slow cooker beef sounds great, had not thought of adding butter

gcal please tell me about cooking pork belly and ham hock, as can now get my hands on all things piggy, had wonderful overnight slow cooked ham and poached eggs from cafe the other day and keen to recreate as could eat for brek, lunch or dinner!

StoneFoxMama · 31/07/2015 08:07

Lex well done on the loss, I'm sure if you're being strict now it shouldn't catch up with you!

I'm actually in Bath, we've just had a brilliant high end jean shop close down but we have the usual topshop (who have some lovely high waisted jeans) urban outfitters and the yellow shop for vintage high waists, gap, m&s etc

Bristol has harvey nicks which although is limited compared to London has a nice range of denim.

backonthewagon · 31/07/2015 11:13

I have been back on BC since Monday after a 2 week holiday. I have felt fine all week until last night when I had a terrible sore throat, sniffly and excessively tired. Then today I nearly fainted at work twice. I don't know if it's connected or not as I never had any issues when I first started BC and I have been doing it 4 days this time before this happened.

trashcanjunkie · 31/07/2015 11:26

Back on the wagon try upping your salts -either bone broth or something similar, like marmite drink.

beccus just a word of advice, that menu doesn't sound right to me. Instead of bpc and veg juice (which will be carby) eat eggs and water. Just less eggs if you don't feel hungry. It doesn't sound like a sustainable way to eat and your calories could be way under. This may push your body into famine mode, where you'll hang on to any fat for dear life. One of the sacred tenets of be is to eat proper meals. There's nothing wrong in skipping one a day, but you aren't skipping, you're replacing it with other things. Smaller meals are just fine, as long as you eat fat:protein:carbs (70:20:10) or something around that.

Good news on the scales this morning. I'm down a whole five pounds. Now I just really need to stay on plan and break through this cycle of up and down I've been stuck in for months. I'm totally off caffeine (for my ibis symptoms) and having minimal dairy. And by that I really mean hardly any. Very careful with what veg I'm having (bar the cauliflower disaster earlier this week) and plenty of fat.

Going back to the hypnotherapist on Saturday to work on my swellings and pain... We shall see what happens. Weirdly he also specialises in lymphatic drainage, so he's going to combine therapies..... Will report back!

Beccus · 31/07/2015 12:05

thx trash. smoothie is avocado, spinach, cucumber and a bit of lemon juice in a blender, so I don't think it's too carby & has some fat. I am much less regular with this woe, & also want to make sure I eat enough veggies as I'm not really having fruit.

LexLoofah · 31/07/2015 12:17

stone thnx would not have thought of top shop

I also need my rings making smaller as what with the weight loss and coming to a colder climate they are too loose and In danger of slipping right off - any recommendations for jewellers in Bath who could do this ?

Patapouf · 31/07/2015 12:56

Hi all Smile

I've been awol since the end of BC, I had my birthday and then the flu (which I'm attributing to not-so-LC-still-HF. Scales waiver between my lowest weight at the end of BC up to 5lbs more on a daily basis. Ive stopped taking the dreaded cerazette so hopefully my weight won't fluctuate as much.

I'm easing myself back into full BC from BClite so I don't have carbflu.

My wedding is in three weeks so I'd really like to lose a few more lbs.

backonthewagon · 31/07/2015 13:57

i have read i need to increase potassium too. how do I do that?

BIWI · 31/07/2015 15:07

Lo Salt is good for potassium, along with:

dark, leafy greens
salmon
avocado
mushrooms
yoghurt

OP posts:
backonthewagon · 31/07/2015 15:45

What is Lo Salt?

Actually think I have worked out why I fainted Blush

I had Solpedol a strong painkiller on an empty stomach. It can cause low blood pressure anyway and I think LC does as well so I probably had extra low blood pressure and because I hadn't eaten am guessing it was absorbed quite fast.

BIWI · 31/07/2015 15:46

Oh yes - you must make sure you're eating 3 meals a day when you first start Bootcamp.

Gcalgske · 31/07/2015 15:50

Lex ham hough (shank) is simple to cook. Just put in a slow cooker, cover in water. Cook on low for 24 hours. The liquid becomes a delicious ham bone broth. If you wilt some greens with butter in the broth and poach a couple of eggs, serve a little of the broth topped with wilted greens (kale, spinach, spring green as you like) a bit of shredded ham and the eggs....DROOL!

Pork belly is, imho, best cooked in slices. I'm really not a big fan of roast pork belly. I normally buy a piece and slice into 1/2 cm slices, roast for 20 minutes liberally coated in chilli powder then fry on a low heat until they are very bronzed and delicious. I normally grate a bit lemon zest in at the end.

I have a condiment I made with star anise, scezchan pepper and rock salt ground in my spice mill. It is brilliant on all pork.

LexLoofah · 31/07/2015 19:51

gcal drool thanks, can I just come and move in with you? I wouldnt be any bother! Light bulb moment - do you think a low carb B&B would be popular, would anyone be interested without the usual cream tea etc? Breakfast would be aamzing of course, now often my fave meal of the day

Just had crabbys crumble with clotted cream, life is good

Gcalgske · 31/07/2015 20:13

Lex I'd love it! A b&b where I wasn't tempted but food was all deliciously on plan would be amazing. You are welcome to a hot meal anytime if you fancy rural Aberdeenshire? My husband is a committed carbivore, I'd love someone to cook low carb for.
