Evening everyone. I hope you're all ready, prepared and raring to go!

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness:

for you to enter your starting weight

Have a good look at the tabs at the bottom, as there you will find the rules, the list of allowed veg and lots of other really useful information.

I've also started the questions thread , so if you have anything you need to ask, that's the best place to ask it. The chat threads move really quickly in the first weeks, so this thread is the best place to ask your questions.

And this time around, I thought it might be useful to have a thread to post about good/interesting low carb products that you come across:

Here

Good luck!

BeyondDoesBootcamp - don't worry, I had chilli with kidney beans last night because it had been a hellish day and the thought of picking them out individually made me want to cry!

AlphaBravoHenryFoxtons · 23/01/2015 16:04

TheGrinch It was coffee with cream, and salami. I should have used an Oxford comma. Grin

BIWI · 23/01/2015 16:07

You could have invented something new there, Alpha!

I am still finding it difficult to eat enough at the beginning of the day. Breakfast was a roast chicken thigh and two egg mayos on lettuce.
Snack a whole pack of olives and a small pack of salami.
Lunch chicken avocado and watercress salad with skin on chicken and loads of dressing
Dinner will be low carb shepherds pie

lurkingmurking · 23/01/2015 16:17

Can't believe we'd almost at the end of day 5!

I've feeling v motivated for the weekend though, My fat jeans are feeling decidedly looser.

Mrsstevejones · 23/01/2015 16:25

aarrgh tiredness is making me munch. I have had too much processed stuff.
1 pepperoni, 4 yes 4 sausages with mayo, BPC and a green smoothie with coconut cream. Loads and loads of water though.

Now whilst i understand that fat isnt something to be scared of, i do worry that i am eating too many calories. Of course the proof is in the scales and i am losing weight but i wonder if i could be losing faster or more consistently -i know 1-2lbs is healthy blah blah but it is something that flashes through my mind from time to time. I just wondered where calories and fat overlap... or is it just me over thinking things?

EvaTheOptimist · 23/01/2015 16:29

I hope all of you who are feeling less than 100%, feel better soon!

If its any consolation on periods, once hormonal things have settled down, I've found that my periods are less heavy on this low carb way of eating. and whiskers appear on my chin a little less too

Also, I would have thought that any breath issues should go away soon too. Would need someone with more biochemical knowledge here... I would agree that drinking plenty of water will help. I think the breath smell is ketones and we should be drinking enough water to make the ketones really dilute in our blood anyway.

And eating like this is FAB for your teeth! So much less sugar floating around in your mouth to make plaque!

Almahart · 23/01/2015 16:30

I know what you mean mrsstevejones.

Fat is good
Pork scratchings are fine
If you eat too little you won't lose weight on this woe
If you eat too much you won't lose weight........

It is confusing. I guess though that it is quite hard to eat too much, I find that I often feel a bit sick after each meal.

However.... I am able to do up jeans that including wear over Christmas, so am pretty chuffed.

EvaTheOptimist · 23/01/2015 16:43

Mrs Steve all calories are not equal, despite that being the usual "wisdom". The more important thing is the fat-depositing that eating carbs triggers. If you're eating a low amount of carbs, you will start to generate the "biochemicals" that enable you to burn fat really easily. Its like the doors to your fat cells can open easily to let it out as fuel. Your body is learning how to do this, it can take 3-4 weeks. Its been so used to just burning the glucose and glycogen supplies (and locking away fat)

So I think calorie counting is meaningless, certainly at this point (if you were many weeks in and near goal, maybe there would be some reason).

It is important to keep an eye on how YOUR body reacts to all this though. Some people notice certain things stall them, eg cheese etc - this is all quite individual. Find what works for you.

Scoffing this lunch:

Ham and cheese cucumber 'sandwiches', rocket and half a mini pepper, radish with butter and 1 tbl sp sour cream.

Dinner tonight will be barbecued lamb burgers on lettuce wraps with grilled veggies and some sort of fat based dressing.

Loving this WOE and looking forward to the weekend.

Have a great lc weekend everyone

Thanks Eva, for the explanation, i know this WOE works i just didnt know why. I love that this thread has clever people on who know stuff like this and can answer questions.

Romeyroo · 23/01/2015 17:15

About to do some food shopping while DC is at a class. Contemplating buying some scales, but it might be a bad decision. Depends on the price. It is a tight month, maybe wait till next week when I get paid. I don't feel thinner!

lurkingmurking · 23/01/2015 17:16

LexLuther that is a very interesting tray!

trashcanjunkie · 23/01/2015 17:22

Fuck it, I give up trying to read the whole thread, sorry guys. I made it about halfway down and my arse is numb and my legs got pins and needles and I need to start dinner Grin

Will do better next week!

Food wise all good. My breakfast was Greek yog, with clotted and double cream. Felt full for ages. Lunch was homemade chicken and mushroom soup. Frigging divine. And dinner is about to happen... Probs either halloumi or meatballs with lc veg chopped finely and fried in butter.

LexLoofah · 23/01/2015 17:29

thanks lurking it is a planetbox, sorry I don't think you can't get them in the UK but very good lunchboxes, DCs have the same and DH has a bigger manly one - brilliant for the packed lunch production line I have going every evening

I am really struggling. Suffering really badly with dizziness and feeling sick this bootcamp. I can't make up my mind if it is my body going hang in their chaps she has weak will and will end up caving if we make her suffer, if it is connect to the fibro/cfs flare up i have had for the last month or if I need to book a trip to see the horrid Doc. Hmm Trying to be as stubborn as hell but keep giving other people the fright as they watch the colour randomly drain out of my face Blush

Currently hoping tea will allow me to go out tonight as planned. If not I shall be hiding in bed and sleeping followed by a good old fashioned sulk

BIWI · 23/01/2015 17:59

Bitchy - that really doesn't sound good, and I'm not entirely sure that it could be down to low carbing.

However

Are you making sure that you're keeping your sodium/magnesium/potassium intake up? Salt, particularly, is really, really important. If you have a drink made from Oxo/Bovril or Marmite does it make you feel better?

What are you eating? List out your meals for me so that I can see.

Are you on any medication?

And finally, to see if it is 'just' a serious bout of carb flu, try having a piece of wholemeal toast. If extra carbs make you feel better, then this gives you your answer. You could have been cutting your carbs too much too soon.

Whatever it is, I hope it's sorted for you soon, as that really doesn't sound very pleasant at all!

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 23/01/2015 18:17

had some bootcamp lite allowed berries to test that yesterday and it helped a little bit.

Medication - cocodamol as removed from everything else for various reason including the one that regulates my cycle as doctor wants be on something else but consultant says no and was sending a letter to get sorted - dealing with that monday so can go back on it.

Will try the oxo. I do suffer with low blood pressure issues so am prone to colour draining anyway. Plus ds has been rather ill so i might have caught something off the plague ridden thing that is a normal child in the school system iyswim.

I will admit i expected a carb flu kickback from the weekend away, and for to be worse than normal as I had fallen into the sugary twat comfort eating trap over christmas. Just surprised to feel quite so shocking tbh. Especially as I have actually been sleeping for a change.

MrsHerculePoirot · 23/01/2015 18:20

MrsSteveJones I don't worry sbout eating too much at the start - I tend to graze all day every day for about a week, then my body remembers I sm not starving it and my hunger just goes. I try to drink lots of water as well, but if I want to eat something I just do! Low carb obvs!

readyforno2 · 23/01/2015 18:41

Food today

B - scrambled eggs, 2 rashers bacon and mushrooms (more of a brunch as it was so late when I ate)
D - chicken quarter, mashed turnip with loads of butter, Brussel sprouts crushed with crispy bacon and double cream

5/6 pints water and two coffee with cream
Am trying the three meals a day but started bc on the 6th so finding I'm not as hungry anymore

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 23/01/2015 18:48

Oxo cube really helped. Doh. Simple solution that I can do easily as needed. Flowers BIWI thank you!

miffy49 · 23/01/2015 18:53

Bitchy do you find the fibro pains move around? I find that when it hits my neck and shoulders I often get dizzy spells. Its the spasms in the neck muscles that cause it. Fibro can also cause problems with low blood glucose. Mine used to drop like the proverbial stone! I've since learned that one of the Swedish docs who actively promote LC (can't remember her name) has treated a lot of people with CFS/FMS and she is a big advocate a dropping your carbs slowly over about 3mths.

Biwi's advice on Oxo etc is appropriate too. Those of us with FMS/CFS are often low in magnesium and LC can lower it further. If you are depleted in magnesium you can get cramps and weird palpitations so a magnesium tablet might help if you don't want to resort to the dreaded docs!
