5 Week Low Carb Bootcamp, with added Ubercamp

BIWI · 21/07/2014 07:35

Morning all!

Just starting the day with a black coffee instead of my usual white one. Not quite sure if I like it or not ...

Anyway, welcome, everyone to this shorter-and-stricter-than-usual Bootcamp Grin

For those of you who are new to low carbing, I strongly suggest that you don't do Ubercamp. It's very strict and restrictive and will be a very, very hard introduction to low carbing. Far better that you get to grips with what it's all about before you also aim to cut out dairy.

For those of you that have low carbed before, you have the option this time around. You can either Bootcamp, which will last for three weeks this time, followed by two weeks of Bootcamp Light, or you can Ubercamp for the first week.

Ubercamp means no dairy (apart from butter). So the rules are the same as for Bootcamp, with this one exception.

Bootcamp Rules

On our Spreadsheet of Fabulousness you will find the rules of Bootcamp - along with a whole load of other really important information. Have a good look around it, by clicking on the tabs at the bottom.

Sayra will be updating the spreadsheet this morning, so she will get all your names on it, and when she does, you can then enter your starting weight. As the spreadsheet is shared, you may not wish to confess all

MNHQ are - hopefully! - also setting up another Weight Tracker for us.

As the spreadsheet is shared, you may not wish to confess all there, in which case use the Weight Tracker, as that is private.

So this is the plan this time around:

Week 1 - Ubercamp (for those who are up for the extra challenge
Weeks 2-3 - Bootcamp
Weeks 4-5 - Bootcamp Light

I should warn you that I have taken my big stick out of the cupboard and I am ready and willing to use it ...

Had a chicken salad for dinner in the end, with mayo. And then, whilst talking to my visiting Aunt and not concentrating, handed out choc ices and ate 1/3 without thinking Shock

LingDiLong · 25/07/2014 08:09

I do normally exercise pre breakfast. Eating even a couple of hours before exercise makes me feel sick. I'm definitely sticking this week out now I've come this far! I have a club run on Sunday so it'll be interesting to see how I cope when running with other people - my finding it hard today could well be psychological! Thanks again

Firsttimer7259 · 25/07/2014 08:50

Ended up eating an entire avocado w lots of salt last night on top of my planned day, I'm struggling w lethargy in the evenings. Is this cos not eating enough? I'm not sure if I'm eating enough or too much. I'm meeting water targets plus about another litre each day - its hot. I guess I need to stick w the rules and see how I feel in a few days, I'd like to feel a bit less shattered at the end if the day

Today's plan
B - coffee w cream
L - creamy beef curry and broccoli
D - chicken thighs w red cabbage

Extras coffee w cream, ham slice cheese carrot

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 25/07/2014 08:54

My first ever insanity class is in 30 minutes eeps.
Having a BPC in prep!

PoirotsMoustache · 25/07/2014 09:16

Well, dinner last night went horribly wrong, and the lovely paprika chicken thighs with sour cream gravy and broccoli I prepared had to go in the bin Sad So I ended up having a very small serving of Smash potato, although I mixed it with so much butter and cheese, I don't think I actually ate the 'potato'! And I had a small glass of wine. I know I shouldn't have, and I won't again, as there is no wine in the house now.

However, I weighed myself this morning (I couldn't wait till Monday), and I've lost 7lbs!! I've no idea where it's come off, as none of my clothes seem looser at all, but I'm not complaining! Grin

Btw, is 'looser' actually a word? It doesn't look right at all!

PoirotsMoustache · 25/07/2014 09:17

ate much* of the 'potato'! Darn it.

BIWI · 25/07/2014 09:30

Firsttimer why aren't you eating breakfast?! That's the first rule of Bootcamp!

OP posts:
BIWI · 25/07/2014 09:32

Poirot - you need to make sure you have stuff in the cupboard/freezer/fridge that you can eat rather than revert to Smash! It's brilliant that you've lost so much, so quickly, but if you keep doing this it will quickly go back on

I almost caved & bought a bag of sweets y'day. I'm under a lot of stress at the moment & it has always been my 'go to' in the past.
I realise that the end result would be more stress, more sweets, more stress etc & feeling pretty shit.

It isn't worth it, is it?

Today I have had black coffee, cauliflower with olive oil, salt, pepper, vinegar!?!? (empty cupboards) Not sure about the rest of the day yet.

Firsttimer7259 · 25/07/2014 10:06

Biwi - I thought coffee w cream counted as breakfast - lots of cream? Figured it would a carbier version of bpc. Sounds like its not?

RoaringForties · 25/07/2014 10:07

morning!
weighed in early cos I'm off camping tomorrow and have lost 2.6 lbs so yippee and 7 lbs away from my goal which I never thought I would get too. This is the lightest I have been for about 4 years, it's lovely I have curves and a waist so no januarycat that bag of sweets isn't worth it.

For me it's similar to when I gave up smoking you get stressed and think a fag will lessen the stress but of course it just heightens everything in reality and you gradually learn that you don't need the crutch of the habit.

This week without cheese has been hard, harder than cutting out sweet stuff for me. I'm hoping camping doesn't throw me off too much.

plonky have a fabulous wedding

BIWI thank you and for your words the other day, appreciated it lots.

PoirotsMoustache · 25/07/2014 10:08

BIWI I know, you're absolutely right. I do have stuff, but I couldn't face cooking anything else after I'd spent so long doing the 'nice' meal, so I just pinched some of my husband's potato. But the massive loss has made me more determined to absolutely stick to bootcamp and not give in again, as I don't want to put it all back on!

PoirotsMoustache · 25/07/2014 10:09

Thank you for your support by the way, I do need it. Flowers

Firsttimer7259 · 25/07/2014 10:14

Well just topped up w 2 sausages and cheese and a coffee. Maybe this was were Im going wrong

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 25/07/2014 10:18

Just finished Insanity, fantastic class. What do I eat now though, just usual lc food?

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 25/07/2014 10:22

I've put another lb back on. FFS. Hmm

I lost four lbs in the first three days. Gained two yesterday and another one today.

This is not how my first week LCing usually goes?! HmmHmmHmmHmm

Could it be not enough water?!

Lulabellarama · 25/07/2014 10:48

Well I've slipped to ubercamp light Grin
I've not managed to completely bypass all dairy, which is a shame. I might try again in a couple of weeks as part of the problem has been my empty fridge just before payday.

Today:
B: 2 fried eggs and a couple of rashers of streaky bacon
S: babybel
L: chicken thighs and griddled courgettes with salad and lots of mayo.
D: salmon fillet with some sort of green veggies.

Lulabellarama · 25/07/2014 10:53

Schro - just eat the usual stuff, though you might want a bit more than usual!

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 25/07/2014 10:58

Going to have a big tin of tuna and salad when I get home I think. :o

perrysands · 25/07/2014 11:15

darn added my message to wrong thread....

Morning all, still no weight loss for me but I will stick with it ,I trust the wise ones that it will happen
.B tuna and boiled egg L salmon filet and cauliflower mayo. D lamb chop cauliflower mayo. I have noticed I need to eat less portion sizes and I still feel full.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 25/07/2014 11:38

B - tin of tuna, mayo and a head of little gem lettuce, 2 of those tiny boursin single servings. A BPC with some almond milk.

Havd so far had a bottle of sugar free coconut water with lime and about a litre of water.

trashcanjunkie · 25/07/2014 12:21

Morning guys, really feeling the pinch with no dairy, but I have no choice but to carry on. It's drinks I'm finding such a struggle. Water or herb/green tea... Bleaurgh. Currently having an earl grey (decaff) with a slice of lemon.... just not hitting the mark. Think I'm hormonal maybe. Been doing a lot of sunbathing and lolling about as we're on a 'staycation' housesitting til next wed. Maybe that's not helping either. Holidays are supposedly about indulgence.

Nevermind, I am eating delicious savouries, and although I'm away from my scales, I look less 'waisty' in the mirror (and browner!)

Painting fingernails and toenails to keep me from food obsessing, and reading Game of Thrones book two on the kindle, although there's lots of food descriptions... Hmm

Managed to do my strength training 'homework' this morning. I have three more sets to do over today, and it's fucking awful. I'm utterly determined though, as just being slim isn't going to cut it. Slim and doughy is not my goal, I'd like to be slim and athletic. Something I've never dared dream of before, and as awful as all of this feels right now, I know that feeling awful and trapped in a fat unfit body feels twenty million times worse. Plus, when I do the 'nice' things like eating the forbidden foods, or skipping the training, I feel like rotted shit. However, when I do the 'awful' things, like eschew the carby treats, and knuckle down to train, I feel brilliant.... obvs later, but each time I succeed at it, it kind of adds to a accumulative good feeling, and brings me a micron closer to my chosen weight and strength targets.

StuntNun · 25/07/2014 12:49

Keep up the good work Trash. I started the 30 day shred back in March and the improvements are tiny each day but over time they really add up. I'm determined to be able to do press ups by the end of the summer, something I've never managed to do before, and pull ups by next summer. Like you say, every day you eat well, every time you exercise you're one step closer. Also try to keep in mind how much you've already achieved. When I look in the mirror and see my wobbly tum I have to remember that this time last year my waist was the size that my hips are now. It's a journey and sometimes you have to look back and appreciate how far you've come. And if you're at the start of your weight loss journey then every pound you've lost so far is one less to go.

trinitybleu · 25/07/2014 13:32

Another 3lbs off! Whoop! Grin

Laska42 · 25/07/2014 13:50

I know its not allowed but as ive grown them i'm going to eat some broad beans out of the garden..
18 per 100g! (thats quite a lot..Sad)

Ah well... Bang goes my 4lbs down do you think? Have only had eggs and butter so far today .. (have been sucessful with ubercamp all week)

Was thinking a crab, prawn and broad bean salad.. the other veg wil be cucumber .salad leaves a few cherry toms, parsleyand dill dressed with lemon juice/oil -

It is far too carby though, isnt it?
