5 Week Low Carb Bootcamp, with added Ubercamp

BIWI · 21/07/2014 07:35

Morning all!

Just starting the day with a black coffee instead of my usual white one. Not quite sure if I like it or not ...

Anyway, welcome, everyone to this shorter-and-stricter-than-usual Bootcamp Grin

For those of you who are new to low carbing, I strongly suggest that you don't do Ubercamp. It's very strict and restrictive and will be a very, very hard introduction to low carbing. Far better that you get to grips with what it's all about before you also aim to cut out dairy.

For those of you that have low carbed before, you have the option this time around. You can either Bootcamp, which will last for three weeks this time, followed by two weeks of Bootcamp Light, or you can Ubercamp for the first week.

Ubercamp means no dairy (apart from butter). So the rules are the same as for Bootcamp, with this one exception.

Bootcamp Rules

On our Spreadsheet of Fabulousness you will find the rules of Bootcamp - along with a whole load of other really important information. Have a good look around it, by clicking on the tabs at the bottom.

Sayra will be updating the spreadsheet this morning, so she will get all your names on it, and when she does, you can then enter your starting weight. As the spreadsheet is shared, you may not wish to confess all

MNHQ are - hopefully! - also setting up another Weight Tracker for us.

As the spreadsheet is shared, you may not wish to confess all there, in which case use the Weight Tracker, as that is private.

So this is the plan this time around:

Week 1 - Ubercamp (for those who are up for the extra challenge
Weeks 2-3 - Bootcamp
Weeks 4-5 - Bootcamp Light

I should warn you that I have taken my big stick out of the cupboard and I am ready and willing to use it ...

I haven't added myself because I'm a bit unreliable at the moment- and too much on so hoping BIWI won't be waving the big stick in my direction:) I have been lc for ages but of course it creeps in with left overs and a glass of wine here and there.

I have to drink more water, but I have had

B- leftover cabbage with melted Brie
L- ham, just bits rolled up as in big hurry and no time
D - lettuce, advocado, feta, bit of olive oil.

2 cafe creme and lots of water but not enough. Especially as I went running today and did some Pilates.

But- am going to bed uber early:)

readyforno2 · 24/07/2014 00:40

Finally weighed myself and added it to the spreadsheet.
Haven't put on after being on holiday and I'm really pleased (maybe I did but I've lost it anywayGrin)
Was at the gym again today and my legs are killing me right now. It's stopping my sleeping. Seriously considering some pain killers.

trinitybleu · 24/07/2014 06:51

Yesterday I had

B - eggs and ham (butter in the eggs)
L - chicken wings, lamb stroganoff, salad
D - salmon with roast broccoli, courgette and broad beans with mayo

Have finally found how to make broccoli tasty ... it was gorgeous!

Bad breath has started ... any tips?

BIWI · 24/07/2014 07:05

Bad breath will go soon - lots of water will help. If it's really, really bad, you can always try some sugar-free gum. They have artificial sweeteners, but as it's a temporary measure it's OK.

So, I stepped on the scales despite telling myself I wouldn't, since Monday I've lost 6lbs. Does this seem drastic or normal?! I'm worrying I'm not eating enough even though I'm following the recipes very strictly.

LingDiLong · 24/07/2014 07:30

I have woken up starving and shaky. I felt hungry a lot yesterday despite having generous portions of protein at every meal. Got a big breakfast of 3 bacon rashers and 3 eggs cooking and am on my 2nd pint of water to try and get the hunger under control. I'm craving fruit like crazy

CecyHall · 24/07/2014 07:41

Plan of action today is

Breakfast- coffee and cream
Lunch- I think I might buy some smoked salmon in M&S and use up the last of the hollandaise sauce from last night, maybe with salad, maybe with asparagus if they aren't ridiculously priced
Dinner- garlic chicken thighs in the slow cooker with broccoli

Think I will get some good cheese today too, I still feel like I need just a small something after tea as a 'pudding' (I'm not über camping) I'm sure that will go soon.

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 24/07/2014 08:06

I've put 2 lbs back on.

How is this possible.

I've been at the gym a lot. Not enough water maybe?

I'm gutted.

bettybigballs · 24/07/2014 08:09

Morning all, hope everyone's getting on ok. The hot weather is really helping me with this. I'm less hungry and far less excited by food. If anything I need to up my meals but I'm not hungry.

Planning on doing lots of cooking over the weekend and want to make some chilled soups.

Happy camping!

MontserratCaballe · 24/07/2014 08:15

Morning campers!

I think I am not cut out for uber camp. I only really drink one cup of tea a day but it has to be with a splash of milk. I rarely have coffee, but again don't like it black. I think my version of ubercamp will be just severely limiting dairy rather than cutting it out altogether. I haven't been snacking on babybel etc which is huge progress.

I went out for lunch yesterday and had the most lovely salad. Everyone else had pasta and it looked so heavy on a hot day. Then a lovely frittata for supper. This is such a great way of eating. Had forgotten how delicious HF food is.

Ling - I expect you are suffering from a bit of carb flu. Water and salts are your friend. I think salmon and avocado are your friends here. You can also drink bouillon with hot water to get a salts rush. Hang on in there. You will soon feel fantastic!

TurnOverTheTv · 24/07/2014 08:15

Good morning, 4lb down Grin
Ling, I felt like that yesterday, really awful, it had gone by the time I left the gym at 11am.

MontserratCaballe · 24/07/2014 08:17

I'm a tot, if you have put on, could this be to do with muscle? I am a lot slimmer than I was although heavier than I was when I was in these clothes last year. I am much more muscular now so this weighs more than lard. I think clothes fit is more important than weight. Have you some trousers of truth which you could use to measure your progress rather than scales?

StuntNun · 24/07/2014 08:25

ImaTot do you have DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness)? That causes water retention around the damaged muscle tissue so it could just be water

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 24/07/2014 08:29

That's definitely possible. I'm very achey today, and I have upped my weights in my BodyPump class.

I won't let it get me down. I just thought I was in for a big loss this week and it's looking less likely now.

perrysands · 24/07/2014 08:30

Told myself I wouldn't go on the scales until end of week but was so impressed with all the weight loss I couldn't resist. No loss for meHmmHmm .B 2 fried eggs 2 bacon in coconut oil.L fried chicken leg.D lamb chop and cauliflower .loads of water and no cheats, any suggestions?

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 24/07/2014 10:02

Perry Drink more water? I find weight loss slows when I am not drinking enough. It's not been a week yet though, could very well still lose. :)

Jumping on boot camp today from eggy fast, can't promise I will be dairy free after that though but will try and limit.

Pisseslikeahorse · 24/07/2014 10:53

perrysands - it will happen even if it doesn't seem like it now your probably just retaining water, bit if body shock, so as they say 'just keep on keeping on' Smile

morning all

just had a bad run, far too hot this morning and ubercamps playing havoc with my digestion.
B. BPC
S. Bacon mushrooms eggs
L. salad mayo
D. 2egg omelette

10pts water

Treasures · 24/07/2014 10:56

Just checking in to say I'm down 3lbs so far and happy with that.

MontserratCaballe your 'trousers of truth' made me laugh! I am currently in size M (for Massive) jeans, but I have a pair that are size 8 hanging around here somewhere. I think those will be my trousers of truth Grin It might be a while before I can get them past my thighs though!

CantEvenKeepAnOrchidAlive · 24/07/2014 11:35

Pins and needles in my arms for no apparent reason - what am I lacking that could get rid of them? I'm struggling with work as i type and write pretty much all day!

StuntNun · 24/07/2014 11:58

You need electrolytes: salt (sodium), potassium and magnesium probably. Add salt to your food, preferably LoSalt which contains potassium or rock salt or sea salt. Broth, oxo or a stock cube made up as a drink will help almost immediately. I think avocado can be helpful too.

Lulabellarama · 24/07/2014 12:16

Argh, had an ubercamp fail this morning. I couldn't face hot food after my workout so had raspberries and cream. I know that was wrong - it won't happen again until I'm on Bootcamp Light, promise.

Lunch will be a ham and avocado salad
Dinner is going to be spicy chicken thighs with griddled fennel and courgette.

miffy49 · 24/07/2014 12:31

Well, I'm well thrilled this morning! Big thanks to Biwi, Stunt and all the gang on here for the boost to get my head in gear again. Thanks I have now lost just short of 4lbs since last Wednesday! I haven't been this weight since last November when I stalled big style. Just lately I had a definite up turn on my trend line and my blood glucose had gone back through the pre-diabetic range and was peeking over the parapet into full blown Type 2. Since I got cracking on Uber last Wed it has plummeted right back to normal. Can't believe it!Shock

Keep plugging on folks. If I can do it after being stalled for this long I'm sure anyone can!

readyforno2 · 24/07/2014 13:25

Forgot to post my food yesterday but didn't do too badly, went to a BBQ and pulled the packet for the sausages out of the bin to check if I was allowed... I wasn't Hmm

Anyway, today my vegetable contraption thing (to make veggie spaghetti) arrived so I have taken mince out of the freezer in anticipation.

B - 2 boiled eggs
L - avocado and salad
D - as above..

On another note, I know it's not allowed on boot camp and I presume ubercamp, but is peanut butter ok? Just checked the jar as I was making the dc a sandwich and it's 7.3g per 100

Checking in finally - I have been strict BC since Monday but not Uber. However still nearly 3lbs down since Monday morning which is great.

Not sure how well the next couple of weeks will go as we are off to the land of deep fried Mars Bars and Irn Bru on Saturday. Both of which I feel I can resist Grin

But at least by putting my numbers in the spreadsheet I can see how bad the damage is when I get back, and be straight back on it for the last 2 weeks.

Good luck everyone and lang may yer lum reek
