Week 7 - Low Carb Bootcamp - Where the End is Almost in Sight!

Morning all!

Hope that you had a good week and that the scales are kind to you today.

Come and confess all on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness and/or on the Weight Tracker

So we have four more weeks left. A focused effort could see another four or even eight pounds disappear. Which would be 8 or 16 packs of lard!

Just to keep you focused on that, here's a picture of just one measly pound of fat. Imagine losing four of these - or how much eight of them might be Grin

Hello everyone!! I have actually been back from holiday and on the LC wagon since Saturday but been so tired and chasing up all the stuff that seems to need doing on returning, it's taken me til today to get myself a proper MN moment. It was a glorious holiday. And food-wise, I was mindful, and am happy with the choices I made. That's enough for this thread. I am back on and hoping to get to where I was, plus onwards, with what I'd learned about getting a better balance, just before I went away.

There's no way that I can catch up with everyone but I have skimmed the other thread and wanted to say welcome to all the new joiners, as you help push us to keeping on in the latter phases of a bootcamp. From Week 6 I wanted to say.
spamm especially I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, and that it was almost a second grieving - so tough for you all and managing your DH as well.
locarblil not wanting to 'drag up' what you shared in any way but so well done to you for sharing it. I hope that, day at a time, you are making progress and share again when you feel it will help.
Hissy I really feel for you supporting DS through, as well as healing yourself, from what happened. I know that you have a lot of inner strength and resources - now is the time to really value and nurture and care for YOU because you matter - and so the nice ingredients and care for your body are really ok, more than ok, they are good. So hard when there is guilt though - so easy to not just be neutral but slip into sabotage - but you are worth it. It was so good to hear he whizzed off back to school!

And so on to this week - HOW is it week 7 already?!?!
I am still not starting work - still not sure when. Very frustrating. Need to try and keep my stamina up, although as ever I have come back from holiday exhausted, we always do too much. Keeping on for now, need to get my fat bomb consumption in check, I can do anything addictively!!

Morning Grin

Weighed in and the scales said 217 (which would be 2lbs off) then I moved and they went to 219 which is STS. I've been trying to get on the spreadsheet but it seems very slow, is anyone else having that problem?

Got mum, dad and brother round tonight for tea, mums birthday, belated fathers day, brother getting distinction in his masters and mum and dad coming back from 3 week holiday in Canada and Alaska..thought I could get it all done in one night Grin.

Making curry for dinner and will give them the option of rice or cauli-rice, mum has tried and liked cauli-rice before.

B: BPC (thank you all so much for your advice on these, I love them!!) egg in a cup
L: Gigot chop, salad
D: Chicken korma type curry with cauli-rice
S: FF yogurt with blueberries

SayraT · 17/06/2014 08:29

Got spreadsheet to work and supermum I've added you. The spreadsheet is in lbs so I converted your kgs to lbs (66kg = 145.5lbs) and (65.3kg = 143.9lbs) according to the online calculator.

CQ · 17/06/2014 08:54

Morning all! Excited to report that after yesterday's activity - a long dog walk, a running session and a decent poo (sorry!) I'm down 1.5 lbs just from yesterday's weigh-in. I know it will jump around this week but am happily using the true weight app and hoping I can 'bank' that loss and get below 190 by Monday. I am visualizing 189.2 on the scales....

So, tried a BPC yesterday. Prefer coffee with milk tbh. I think the problem is I really don't like black coffee and to me a BPC just tasted like an oily black coffee. I used a tsp of butter and 2tsps do coconut oil. Maybe this wasn't enough?

Off to the physio today to get my dodgy knees checked out. Strangely all the time I've been carrying around all this excess weight, my knees were fine, but since this rather dramatic loss (16lbs in 6 weeks up to today) my knees have been hell. I wonder if there's a link? Anyway hopefully I can get a diagnosis and some exercises to help. I'm only 47 - I should not be wincing every time I stand up or go down stairs Confused

doineedhelp · 17/06/2014 09:25

Thanks biwi I took some stool softener so fingers crossed! I am having a salad with lunch every day and veg in evening (last night was cauliflower cheese)

1lb on for me this week but totally expected as had prearranged night out...

B - bpc (first time trying it today and it is delicious)
L - salad and tuna mayo
D - salmon steak, veggies stir fried in coconut oil
W - 3l

lowcarbforthewin · 17/06/2014 11:00

It's funny but this woe is much better for my bowels. I will spare you details, but it's all, er, healthier and easier!

Treated myself to some duck eggs after my blood test, they were lovely. If you haven't tried any before, do, they are so much more luxurious than hen's eggs. Worth the extra money for a treat.

IrianofWay · 17/06/2014 11:48

Week 5 for me and 1 measly lb oozed reluctantly off my flabby body this week!

I eat very little (not on purpose I have no appetite) and I am running longer than a few weeks ago. Hey ho. TOM due in the next few days so I'll use that as my excuse.

Vile taste in my mouth all the time. Sort of musty stale sweet taste. I guess it's ketosis? But it means I can only eat things with really strong flavours - chorizo, mature cheddar, strong stong black coffee.

miffy49 · 17/06/2014 13:18

Oh Ewan you did make me laugh! I know just how you feel . I reckon I'm trying to turn a super tanker too. That just described how I felt. Thanks to Stunts idea of carb re-feeds I seem to be edging round at long last. My trend line is staying promisingly downwards and I did my weekly average of my FBG this morning and it was 5.6mmol. It had crept back to over 6. Feel much more positive and more energetic.

miffy49 · 17/06/2014 13:21

Irian Make sure you keep up the water. If you let the ketones build up you might stall. You need to keep them washed out so that your body has to use fat to make more for fuel. It will help with the nasty taste too.

IrianofWay · 17/06/2014 14:32

Thanks miffy. I must admit I feel like an open rain gutter with all the water going in (and coming out!) but I guess it's not enough Grin

miffy49 · 17/06/2014 15:35

LOL! I find I'm not so bad in the day. I chug it down happily but it seems to bottom out (no pun intended!) as soon as I sit to watch TV and get my crochet out. Then I seem to spend the evening either on my way up to the loo or coming back down! Thinking of sitting on the landing with my crochet!

StuntNun · 17/06/2014 16:09

How about a shewee Miffy? Grin

oolaroola · 17/06/2014 17:59

Having my first wobble, eek, help!
Been LCing since Friday and have felt pretty good tbh. But this aft I feel tired and floppy and can't be bothered.
Have had one square of 85% choc as an energy boost.
Seeing this as a bit of a danger point. Talk some sense in to me please, tell me it will pass.
Maybe it's the heat?

lowcarbforthewin · 17/06/2014 18:27

BIWI could go into busines, produce the BIWI shewee. Geddit? Get everyone to buy it when they sign up to this. Wink

lowcarbforthewin · 17/06/2014 18:28

Oola this will so pass. Have a think about how you would feel tomorrow if you woke up and had cheated. And how you will feel knowing you had a wobble but got through it. Tiredness really makes me want to cheat, you have to take a step back and say 'the tiredness wants me to, but I don't' and then try to distract yourself. You can do it.

Supermum0203 · 17/06/2014 18:29

Hello all !!

BIWI; thanks for taking time to reply my post. Food today as follow;
B- 7.00am- 2 eggs, one tbs oil, half avocado
L/D- 5.30- 3 slices of beef, 3tbs mayo., a few white asparagus and a small piece of Brie
2.5 ltrs of water so far.

I know I should eat more, but all these past weeks, I have eaten more and nothing has happened ( sight in desperation )
And as I said last week, Christening this Saturday and feeling utterly and completely devastated as the outfit I bought at Easter doesn't fit. I haven't got one single item in size 14, and since I can not wear my pjs or track suit bottoms...I'm gonna have to get something tomorrow... And I hate it...!! For being so weak during the holidays ... I guess this is pay time :( :(

EWAN, I know what u mean with the lack of fiber...:)
But I have had problems for the last 6 years, I'm trying not to take any "help" but sometimes, after 5 or 6 days, I have to go back and take something. I think is a vicious circle I need to break at some point .

SAYRA, good luck with all the family around today, and thanks ever so much for joining me. My PC is broken so I only can use the iPhone for now. :)

By the way, is very colorful to see the flags near the nicknames. Does it mean the country you are from?
I wouldn't mind to put one for my country but I think no chance from the iPhone u unless I'm very useless ...:)

readyforno2 · 17/06/2014 18:42

2.4lb down for me! But I don't deserve it. Need to be more controlled!!

oolaroola · 17/06/2014 18:59

Thanks lowcarb that's exactly what I needed to hear.
I've had me tea and feel better, perhaps I'd let myself get a bit hungry without realising.
Well done everyone on your progress.
I really can't be doing with this not working for me.

Hissy · 17/06/2014 19:07

I'm here again! :)

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 17/06/2014 19:20
  1. The spread sheet always goes a bit tonto for me.and the weight tracker is sending me somewhere different. Hopefully I've put my proper weight in. Had a bit of a wobbly week.tempted by so much.Meant 184,iPad is also being a dick.
fitflopqueen · 17/06/2014 19:48

no change for me but did go off plan at weekend, today have had
B boiled eggs mashed with butter
L hot marmite, small piece of cheese.
D Chicken Tikka (homemade) & celeriac chips, roast cherry toms.
About 1.2 l of water & morning tea.

HolgerDanske · 17/06/2014 20:21

Hissy your post about courgette pasta ended up on week 6 thread :-)

I have three different ways I do it: first is to just peel the ribbons, blanch them for maybe a minute, then serve. Or, fry the courgette in olive oil with garlic and chilli. Or, peel into ribbons and eat raw.

Hissy · 17/06/2014 20:32

Ah. Blanche. 1 minute?

That's where I went wrong! Loving the olive oil suggestion too! Thanks chuck!

SarahBeenysBumblingApprentice · 17/06/2014 21:40

Just wrote a reply and the computer deleted it Sad

Hissy I do courgette sautéed in butter

Supermum it's much better to keep on top of it that to let it build up, as it were Grin!

Sayra what's gigot? [clueless]

Today:
celebrating a DH has just passed his viva for a higher degree. he been working towards this for more time that we've been married (and certainly for longer that we've had the kids).

B: 2 eggs and cheese
L; smoked salmon salad with mayo
S: babybel
D: coconut chilli chicken and salad and cabbage and butter. Glass of wine.

Drinks 4.5l water and still drinking! A decaf black americano.

MFP totals

cal: 1,765, carbs: 21, protein: 87 (probably a bit too much protein).

miffy49 · 17/06/2014 21:51

SarahBeeny I think a gigot chop is a lamb leg chop. Congrats to your DH.
