Week 7 - Low Carb Bootcamp - Where the End is Almost in Sight!

Morning all!

Hope that you had a good week and that the scales are kind to you today.

Come and confess all on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness and/or on the Weight Tracker

So we have four more weeks left. A focused effort could see another four or even eight pounds disappear. Which would be 8 or 16 packs of lard!

Just to keep you focused on that, here's a picture of just one measly pound of fat. Imagine losing four of these - or how much eight of them might be Grin

BIWI, point taken, being hungry goes in waves and H2O too.
B FF yoghurt
L cold meats, small piece of cheese, olives, 4 cherry toms ( they need eating up)
D ?? Cooker not fixed until tomorrow so salad & tuna probably
S Small tin of sardines, different if not delicious!

Is 100% cacao ok? M&S are selling blocks for hot chocolate, I don't add sugar and it does give a bit of a lift.

antimatter · 18/06/2014 18:19

fitflopqueen - what kind of lift you are after?
Energy boost or mood boost?

We've been discussing how hard it us to break association of food as mood crutch.
Have look at last weeks thread. There were lots of interesting comments (and confessions Grin)

IrianofWay · 18/06/2014 21:26

12 lbs gone in total! Only 3 to go for my first mini target of under 12 stone.

Found some luverly polish smoked sausages in lidl today. A cross between good frankfurters and chorizo and .7% carbohydrate. Just had one for dinner! Not to mention their Greek yog which is just perfect - higher fat and lower carb count than any other I have found.

StuntNun · 18/06/2014 21:37

Humphrey I'm on my third day of combining LCHF with 14:10. Apparently you can consume below 50 calories during the 14-hour fast so I can have a couple of cups of tea then I have a big breakfast/lunch. It's working pretty well, I don't get too hungry in the morning.

antimatter · 18/06/2014 21:51

IrianofWay - if you like polish sausage I recommend you look for slightly smoked cooked bacon - it's called boczek, very tasty and a lot of fat in it Grin
It's sold prepackaged in many polish shops.

re: intermittent fasting - I have been doing it on most days
I usualy eat no later than 6 pm and next morning breakfast the earliest 8 PM, sometimes later.

But if I am very hungry - I give in for early breakfast, but not for late snack.
I value my sleep Smile

readyforno2 · 18/06/2014 22:27

SaryaT - I'm only 15 mins from you! I'll be down there on Friday for the fancy dress (and the shows)

B- 2 eggs scrambled
L- salad, ham and halloumi
D- salad, chicken mayo
S- fried courgette and mushrooms

Probably about 5l water. It's been so hot and I have been at aerobics

readyforno2 · 18/06/2014 22:29

Damn autocorrect sayraT Blush

SarahBeenysBumblingApprentice · 18/06/2014 22:34

Evening everyone.

Hope you're having a good night with your friends, sayra, that looks fab!

Fitflopqueen I'm quite guilty of using chocolate as a pick me up - sugar and caffeine certainly work for flagging energy. I tend to think that it's part of the healthy eating process to learn not to use food as a prop. Slow process though!

Well done Irian

Re: IF - I found 16:8 much easier than 5:2 but I'm too good at compensating for the fast to loose weight like that. Lots of people seem to have had good results LC/IF though.

Today has been one of those days where if it can go wrong, it will go wrong. Not worth dwelling on so I won't post more here but my planned meals were late and I snacked like a trooper. One of the better points of the day was being wee'd on by my three year old little monster (who has caused lots of the trouble, hitting and being generally difficult). [fed up]!

B: BPC
L: tuna and mayo salad with avocado.
S: a pepperami, a babybel, some cheese and some pistachios.
D: spag bol and roast aubergine. Moser roth chocolate bar.

I have no idea how much water I've had.

MFP: carbs 33g/6%, protein 94g/19%, 2088 cal.

Scousadelic · 18/06/2014 22:48

My weight is not going down much, it's bobbling around the same point but, oddly, several people have remarked on my weight loss over the last week, all of them in a "Wow how much weight have you lost?!" way. Odd because, although I am a lot lighter than when I started I am over half a stone more than before Xmas. Maybe my blubber is shifting or settling Grin

I'd like to be going downwards but I can't exercise (broken ankle still in splints) and can't drive so am having to rely on others for shopping or lifts to shops which is a bit discombobulating. As long as I'm not going up I'm ok at the moment

Supermum0203 · 18/06/2014 22:55

Evening everybody!
I'm posting without reading any post yet as I have been very busy today.
I have bought a really nice dress for the Christening on Saturday.
However when I was in the fitting room and I saw myself and my back in those three mirrors .... I thought I was going to have a heart attack... I know I'm fat, but when I saw my back from head to toe... It is terrible..!!:(
I never thought I had such a horrible legs and bottom... How sad is that..!!
Dh tried to cheer me up, but it didn't work .
Anyway, probably tomorrow I will feel better

BIWI, I have eaten lots today;
B- 2eggs and half avocado
L- chicken and small salad
D- grilled salmon and some green beans
2.5 ltrs water
Tbh I could have gone without the dinner, as I wasn't hungry, I ate it because I don't like to throw away food and I knew that nobody was going to eat it..

I'm going to catch up with all the post now.
...! Shame about the football match tonight .. :(
Nite nite

Re: intermittent fasting.

I often miss a meal out if I'm simply not hungry. Or I'm busy and I've not realised how much time has gone past. It can surprise me how I actually have so much energy from just a breakfast. I realise how much I eat at home from habit or boredom.

[[http://www.marksdailyapple.com/how-to-intermittent-fasting/#axzz351ueHEWW This is an interesting read.]]

SayraT · 19/06/2014 08:04

Well done Irian

ready really?! I won't be here on Friday otherwise we could have worn secret badges in case we spotted each other. I'll be at the Highland Show, off there today as well.

supermum I am sure that you will look lovely in your dress. We all have moments like that in changing rooms, I am sure that you don't look as bad as you think you do. Hope you are feeling better about yourself today, be happy that you are doing something about it and in the future we won't get you out of changing rooms cause you will be too busy trying to look at your gorgeousness Grin

Pisseslikeahorse · 19/06/2014 08:04

Scousadelic - how about a bit of core strength work ?

Found this 8min workout, if you ignored the side planks and use a chair and pillow to support your ankle, if needed..?

Having a bit of a odd time as we're all a bit ill, the automatic graze function seems to have mentally clicked ON, So am fighting the urge for crap and becoming a feeder with the rest of the family (picture Mrs Doyle with toast)

But can't drop the training as its going well, beat my 5k PB again on Friday and the longer runs are strengthening. Also the added effect of the calories I'm burning has to be the reason that I'm still dropping weight.

I'm not posting food as I'm still on bootcamp and it hasn't changed in the last 6 weeks (lots of eggs, salad, avocado, pork, BPC and cauliflower).

Hope you all have a happy sunny day Smile

BIWI · 19/06/2014 08:58

I flirted with 5:2, but couldn't cope with the obsession with calories that very quickly took hold - and the threads on here were all about what people could have with their calories. Not surprisingly, all manner of low calorie (i.e. full of crap) foods started to be discussed/recommended. It was so far removed from the type of food that I try to eat that I felt really uncomfortable about it.

However, IF, by missing breakfast/not eating until mid or late morning/lunch time is much more doable.

antimatter · 19/06/2014 09:24

I think in the past many people used to eat 10-14, I remember when I was a child - last meal was by 6-6:30 PM and breakfast was 8 AM.

When I was working in Denmark with my friend we both lost a lot of weight (by choice). A host who was cooking for us was also trying to lose some weight. She kept saying - but I eat exactly the same food as you. And the only difference is coffee and a piece of cake when watching news in the evening Grin.
We all worked doing the same job so calories used were more or less the same.

HolgerDanske · 19/06/2014 10:50

You worked in Denmark? Did you eat the awesome hotdogs? I miss those. And the pastries.

antimatter · 19/06/2014 11:35

I loved their Remulade and ice cream where chocolate was setting hard on a soft ice after dipping it.

I t was only 5 months but as we lived in the middle of nowhere we were mainly observing locals and cycling everywhere Grin
I wish I had a Kindle then, I took a stash of books but had to stick to no more than 40 pages a day as I don't really like to reread my books straight away.

EwanHoozami · 19/06/2014 11:59

Sausage fans! I seem to have bought some Silesian Sausages from Lidl, enticed by their cheapness and their 0.2g of carbs.

Any idea what I can do with them??

HumphreyCobbler · 19/06/2014 12:13

Thanks for all the info re IF. It makes me realise that I don't snack in the evening when lc and I don't tend to eat till lunchtime atm so I am managing to do a large gap anyway Smile

antimatter · 19/06/2014 12:22

Silesian sausage can be eaten cold or reheat/fried it on a bit of fat/butter.

You can chop it, fry fir a couple of min and use it as a base for scramble eggs. You can add it to hungarian lecso or any veg based stew.

miffy49 · 19/06/2014 12:28

supermum You'll be fine! I hate changing rooms. I'm sure the mirrors and lighting are rigged to make you look your absolute worst! How that would benefit the company I fail to see but I always come out feeling depressed and very haggard even though I can pretty well walk in and just grab off the peg now. (I was fast approaching a size 26 but now I get a 12/14!) When possible I buy on-line and try on at home with my own mirror. Easier anyway given that crutches and changing rooms tend not to mix well!

miffy49 · 19/06/2014 12:36

That's what did me Biwi. Everyone talking about all the stuff they ate on non fasting days. I went totally off the rails and its taken me months to just regain some health let alone get my weight straight! LC does lend itself well to big gaps between meals. Once you let go of all the low fat brainwashing that's bombarded us for years you can do what nature intended and stoke up nicely at meal time and then just forget food until your tum rumbles. I find it very liberating. 5:2 just wound me up!

EwanHoozami · 19/06/2014 12:44

Thanks anti that Hungarian dish sounds good :)

I've avoided 5:2 etc also. It would lead me back into the realms of thinking about food in a disordered way. I need the routine of three meals a day, every day.

SarahBeenysBumblingApprentice · 19/06/2014 16:51

I was as ratty as f**k on 5:2 and as soon as I stopped having fast days, the half stone is lost went straight back on. I'm not a fan Grin.
