I'll go and get some breakfast tomorrow, but when I went down at 3ish, there was nothing. Snaffled a lump of DS casserole (ew) and ate a slice of sausage. Have some cheese and a couple of pats of butter. Will go and get car/clothes/shower at home tomorrow when friend picks me up. Will raid stocks of pork scratchings)(yum) and meats etc and bring some things in.

I'll not waste away for the sake of a day.

Am bloody miles away from home! DS is ok, heavily bandaged, will be in for a week, resting for a further week.

Redtartanshoes · 18/05/2014 19:36

I was wondering whether anyone could explain (bisto) gravy to me.

Carb count is low(ish) but it contains potato starch etc etc?

readyforno2 · 18/05/2014 19:48

Hope your ds feeling a bit better hissy

Thanks littlemiss, I suppose it's just that you get it drilled into you that you shouldn't eat fat etc. difficult to get your head around actually adding it into your diet.

lowcarbforthewin · 18/05/2014 20:27

Great day today. It's funny how that bit of alcohol last night has made me feel very blobby! It's a relief to be sticking to the rules.

Everyone is doing really well. Hoping I get a loss in week three having cut out dairy.

feesh · 18/05/2014 20:31

Just wondering, does low carbing cause aching legs? I hope so because otherwise I might be dying of one of the other diseases that came up in Google.

I'm two weeks in and my legs have been killing me for the last two days. It's like I am doing a slightly uncomfortable stretch and it includes my calves and hamstrings. I am permanently uncomfortable and can't sleep properly.

I am trying to eat the right things like salmon, avocado, etc. I am just praying that it IS a low carb thing and not something truly scary :(

calzone · 18/05/2014 20:40

StuntNun · 18/05/2014 20:41

Yes it can Feesh usually cramps because your electrolytes are low.

trashcanjunkie · 18/05/2014 20:58

that means more salt for you feeshy Grin can you stomach a drink of hot stock or anything like that?

ElmaFudd · 18/05/2014 20:58

I get sore legs too - and muscle twitches. Managed to scare myself witless by Googling (I know - stupid!) but put it down to lc side effects. Took Mg supplements for a while, but not sure if it had any effect. I'd love to know the scientific explanation, but meanwhile it may help you to know - as it did me - that it appears to be a feature of the low carb WOE.

Mine started around 6 months ago and are getting better, slowly but surely.

HTH

rubybricks · 18/05/2014 21:16

i too have the achy legs!! but usually at night, when i'm trying to get to sleep - i googled and got 'restless legs syndrome' but it's funny to hear that others are experiencing similar! it's like a dull ache inside the bone, somehow...

i've haven't deviated yet, but tonight's been the first night i've been sorely tempted - left it late to eat, so was starving - and there's lots of rubbish in the house for the kids, bad i know.

hissy hope your ds is feeling better soon, hello to all and good luck for tomorrow's weigh in Smile

alleypalley · 18/05/2014 21:40

Fresh. I've also had a really crampy foot for the last week. One day last week I could barely walk.

Made a bit of a mistake today. I bought some course pâté from Waitrose for lunch, was very nice on baby gem leaves. I checked the packet in the shop and thought it said 1.7g carbs per 100, but I checked it again later, after I had eaten loads of it and I realised that it wad 1.7g for 1/4 pack, and actually 3g per 100. Not too bad I know, but I probably wouldn't have eaten quite so much of it if I realised it was that high.

And, I have sodding sun burn. 39 yrs a red head you'd think I'd be better at putting on sun scream by now Blush

CockBollocks · 18/05/2014 23:29

Achy here too - get woken up I'm the night with awfull cramp in my calves.

spamm · 18/05/2014 23:46

Sat in the airport on my way to Detroit on business, after a long day.

Started with bacon, eggs and mushrooms for breakfast, with water.

Lunch was more difficult, because we went to my son's rugby, which was at a winery. I had a burger, no bun, with cheese, lettuce and a slice of tomato, and lots of water because I was driving, so I had a great excuse not to have wine. When I got home, I had a baby bel and some olives. I have a chicken salad with avocado and cheese with me to eat on the flight, as I don't land until 9.00 pm tonight.

I will not be able to weigh myself tomorrow, I doubt the hotel will have scales. I will weigh myself on Wednesday morning when I am back. I believe I have lost 1 lb so far this week, but there is some up and down so I will have to see.

Keep at it everyone and Hissy, I hope you DS is ok!

feesh · 19/05/2014 04:45

Thanks for the reassurance on the leg cramps. More salt for me!

Well I am probably the first to weigh in as it's still 4.30am in Britain!

I switched scales halfway through last week. My old analogue scales show that I'm probably around 7lb down on 2 weeks ago, with approx 2lb loss this week (yay !)

But my fancy new Bosch digital scales (the bastards) show zero loss, in fact a slight gain, this week. Grrrr.

Am getting fed up as I wanted to lose 10kg before we go back to England on holiday in 7 weeks and I've barely made any progress.

glenthebattleostrich · 19/05/2014 05:46

Morning, 5.5lb off this week Grin

glenthebattleostrich · 19/05/2014 05:46

Hissy, hope your DS is feeling better and good luck everyone today

costababe · 19/05/2014 06:57

Morning all
Weighed in this morning 0.5lb down, slightly disheartened so measured, over the last two weeks I've lost 2 inch from waist, 2 inch from hips and 1 inch off each thigh!! Woop woop!!
Keep keeping on people
Have a good day everyoneGrin

costababe · 19/05/2014 06:59

Hope your DS gets better soon Hissy

HolgerDanske · 19/05/2014 07:03

Hi everyone, happy low carbing!!

Another modest loss today, down to 148.3

I'm happy as long as small steps of progress are being made, so there will be no worrying from me.

I hope you all had a good weekend. hissy I hope all's well with little one.

I have got the week off work so I am going back to bed as soon as I've got the girls off to bed. Lucky me!

JaneParker · 19/05/2014 07:04

Interesting article on effect of sugar in your gut organicfitness.com/does-the-human-microbiome-influence-food-cravings-and-dietary-habits/ and how changing how you eat can change how you feel. It explains why cravings go too.
