Help!!!!

Can I have a tray of diner kebab meat and salad?!

NeverHadANickname · 17/05/2014 19:28

[wiggles into Trash and Strings conversation]
I'm from the north too, just south of Durham.

antimatter · 17/05/2014 20:30

I had a very small portion of Chicken Korma last night, home made from this recipe: www.hairybikers.com/recipes/chicken-korma/1615
Something from those ingredients doesn't agree with me and my tummy grew bigger (easy to feel it on the leather belt I wear with my jeans).

At least I know I have list of things to eliminate for now and perhaps try to introduce one at a time and see which one is the culprit!

Best1sWest · 17/05/2014 21:09

The scales showed another pound off this morning, maybe I am getting going at last.
B - boiled eggs, Greek yog.
L - little gem lettuce, ham, mayo.
D - hairy Bikers chicken jalfrezi minus the sugar. Greek yog with coconut cream.

2 coffees with cream, 2 coffees with milk. 2 litres of water so far.

StuntNun · 17/05/2014 21:18

I was looking at that yoghurt maker too, particularly if it can be used to make soya yoghurt for DS3 who is dairy-free. I would love to hear how it goes and how much of a faff it is.

LC fail today, DH and I were in a cafe that had a 'low carb Ulster fry' on the menu. It was nice enough but it included carby-type sausages, black pudding and baked beans so while it may have been relatively low carb it wasn't Bootcamp-approved.

SayraT · 17/05/2014 21:42

Stunt I am planning on trying it out tomorrow so I will let you know. The instructions say that you can use any type of milk and one of the reviews on the Lakeland page talked about making soya yogurt successfully.

It looks like it will be quite easy. Put milk and starter (any yogurt with live cultures - once you've made yogurt you can just keep a little bit) into tub. Put tub into machine, switch on, leave for 8 hours. I am planning on straining mine to make thicker "Greek" yogurt.

lowcarbforthewin · 17/05/2014 22:32

Glad your machine arrived Sayra, and really hope you like it. The first batch you make is really exciting. It's got much more live bacteria in than shop bought stuff apparently so is much better for you. I use uht milk because I can't be bothered with heating the milk before hand.

Great day food wise, but some friends have come to stay and they bought wine.. And beer.. And elderflower vodka. I have missed out so much over the years on socialising with friends that I felt tonight it was more important to have a drink with them than maintain the diet. I had a few mouthfuls of each thing, and it was nice. Food wise I stuck to BC, we had a rotisserie chicken. Omg, very good! Tomorrow I am sure I will regret the alcohol but I so rarely drink I hope I don't. I made some happy memories.

lowcarbforthewin · 17/05/2014 22:33

Stunt, definitely no faff. I make a couple of batches a week, stick the equipment through the dishwasher and that is that. Making yogurt is easy, honest. Saves you money too.

olivesnutsandcheese · 17/05/2014 23:58

Am intrigued by the yoghurt maker, looking forward to hearing how it goes.

Been an atrocious week health wise, finally feeling a bit more human so DH and I tackled the garden, jet washed the deck and assembled our new garden furniture. It looks awesome Grin .

Had bacon for breakfast while DH and Dss had sarnies I ate mine on its own with some salad leaves- did seem a bit weird but who cares.

Baby DS got drenched whilst we jet washed, puddle jumping in his wellies, nappy and t shirt. One of those days you could just bottle and keep forever Smile This was topped off nicely with griddled lamb steaks, roast cauli and creamy garlic mushrooms - aka heaven on a plate. Love love love this WOE

pingufan · 18/05/2014 08:39

Protein Drinks. Where do we stand with those? On my previous plan I was drinking one of these a day, usually as breakfast so I could keep my egg allowance (I was allowed 2 eggs a day)

I still have a full tub here - would I be allowed one occasionally if I fancied an egg free breakfast for a change?

The ingredients are (per serving 39g)

Cals - 148
Protein - 31g
Fat - 1.1g
Carbs - 3.9g
CLA powder - 585mg
Acai Berry - 530mg
Green Tea - 156mg
Acetyl L Carnitine - 195mg
Taurine - 1170mg

Anyone else drink these?

Pisseslikeahorse · 18/05/2014 09:02

morning all.

slight crash with some moussaka at yesterdays party, took out the potato but scoffed the cheese sauce, so today is the start of my penance.

Just done lots of pushups and I'm about to rep my sit-ups and will attempt to keep this going for the rest of the 10weeks.
(alternative300situps.com / alternative100pushups.com)

I'm intending on continuing with bootcamp for another week, anyone else?

b. G Yogurt, Coffee
L. huevos rancheros
D. low carb curry (something from Madhur Jaffrey)

Locarblil · 18/05/2014 09:38

Hello All, haven't checked in for a bit but still pegging along. Sunshine is both motivating (I want to wear a lovely little sundress too) and disheartening (family wolfs down ice cream). I did have a tiny lick of DH's ice-cream & that was enough for me.

How bad is Lindt 90% chocolate? DH bought me some as I think it was allowed after 2 weeks on the Idiot Proof Diet. I have had a square or 2 melted in the microwave & mixed with cream to make a kind of chocolate truffle, but will leave the rest. (was yummy tho).

Also - going to a friends for lunch and evryone is bringing amazing deserts, but will keep Monday's weighin in mind & not partake. I have strawberries in the fridge for Mon morning - I'm right that they're allowed on BC light aren't I?

glenthebattleostrich · 18/05/2014 09:43

Hi everyone

Another gorgeous day here :)

I have so much energy, it is brilliant.

horse, I'm staying on boot camp another week, I have a christening next sunday and want the good habits as ingrained as possible before it.

Food today:

b1 - greek yogurt, tea with cream.
b2 - bacon, eggs, mushroom and tomatoes, tea with cream
l - ham roll ups, cucumber, babybel
t - pork and chorizo casserole

2 breakfasts because I was up at 5:20 with DD (crafts from 6:30, so much fun!)

2 litres of water drunk already.

JaneParker · 18/05/2014 09:54

Protein drinks? Up to the person. I am very against. If you want more protein have 4 eggs not 2 or other real protein. I think real natural foods make you feel good and anything artificial tends to be packed with bad stuff. However others may disagree and they are certainly going to be better for you than a chocolate bar.

weaseleyes · 18/05/2014 10:11

Felt much better this week than last, though the possibility of binging on cheese lurks over me at all times. Am getting a fair bit of bleeding, which is annoyance. I have also ordered a yoghurt maker, so I can join in yoghurt-basted fun!

I was particularly proud of myself on Friday as I had to be in a long meeting with two other people where I knew catering would be providing things like sandwiches and pastries. I spent all morning telling myself I'd have to join in because it would be weird and tricky not to, but it seemed like such a rubbish reason to cheat. I took some olives and quorn with me to eat before it started, but still thought I'd have to join in a bit. Then actually, at the meeting, I just said no thanks, I'm trying to avoid carbs at the moment, the other two laughed and that was that. No drama and I didn't have to cheat. I realised I'd been trying to give myself reasons why I'd somehow be forced into cheating, but actually I still had the choice.

Ha ha! In your face, carbs!

StuntNun · 18/05/2014 10:33

Lowcarblil 90% chocolate is okay on Bootcamp Light but it is still on the carby side so I would recommend limiting yourself to a square or two (10-20g). When I'm on Bootcamp Light I sometimes have half a square then if I feel it isn't enough then I have the other half so that's 10g in total. I recommend staying above 80% chocolate though. 70% chocolate is sweet enough to be more-ish whereas you have to be really desperate to eat the 85%+ stuff. I tried 100% a couple of times - really not pleasant.

SayraT · 18/05/2014 10:34

Locarblil I am going to try some frozen yogurt in my ice cream maker today, I will let you know how it goes. Might be an alternative to ice cream?

I am planning on making a berry puree (BC Light) with no sugar/sweetener obviously and mixing it with Greek yogurt and cream then mixing in ice cream maker.

Got the first batch of yogurt in the machine so will let you know how it goes, should be ready at about 6ish.

PeonyStick · 18/05/2014 10:37

I can't keep up with the thread - I am with you all in spirit and I am still firmly on the wagon.

I just popped into say that I have been bleeding every day since week two of the last bootcamp...... so a permanent period since January.... ( i have all sorts of medical tests to try and sort it out - hormones test, ultrasounds, coil checks - all sorts - nothing found)

and it has JUST stopped all by itself this last week. Hurray [grinGrin

So - don't panic, it will sort itself out.

trashcanjunkie · 18/05/2014 11:36

Morning All!

peeeeeeooooooooonyyyyyyy I am nearly a whole human again! Thank god your fanjo has sorted itself out. That sounds rubbish you darn stoic!

Hurrah to more Northerners Never Grin

sayra ahem, d'you think that fro-yo would survive in the post? Grin
I heard someone one the radio 4 making yoghurt a while back. She put hers in a dish on the radiator (I think?) wrapped in a teatowel with the yoghurt starter blobs in each corner of the dish. She could strain after if she liked but never had to as it was so thick. I was literally dribbling whilst she talked and I could hear yoghurty clinky sounds, and her accent was great. I'm dying to hear how peoples yoghurts go.

Pisses and Glen I have been strict bootcamp since Jan 3rd, and will continue through this bc and the next as I have several stones to shift. I've made good headway already, so I will be here Grin for the forseeable!

Seri77 · 18/05/2014 11:38

Mega post sorry, also for no namechecks.

Finally plucked up courage to try a bulletproof coffee. Did it with 1 tsp coconut oil, 1 tsp butter (salted) and a splash of cram. Haven't got a stick blender so used a mini whisk that I got with a hot choc gift pack years ago.

Result: delicious!

I plan to get rid of the cream so I can use my dairy ration elsewhere.

I've been mostly successful in stopping my daily chocolate & nut habit. There's none in the house now and I won't buy more.

I'm quite keen on a yogurt maker, how much does it save compared to £2.39 for 500g of Total? I can't always get to the one shop in the area that sells it so either stockpile or run out.

I use frozen raspberries & find (on bootcamp light) a 3-4 when defrosted turn yogurt into raspberry yogurt very nicely, just mix thoroughly.

CockBollocks · 18/05/2014 11:40

BIWI

Quick question, i'm a week ahead. Did I read somewhere that you can stall this week?

Haven't done anything different (apart from going to the gym/swimming twice) and appear to have put on a pound Sad.

Currently eyeing up the kids chocolate.

Parsnipcake · 18/05/2014 11:54

cockbollocks I think stalls can happen but I also find that my body works in 10 day cycles ( I am 3 months in). I weigh x and for the next week I weigh a bit more, after a week I am the same and on day10 I whoosh down 1-3 lb! So just persevere!

SayraT · 18/05/2014 12:09

trashy you will just need to come here to try it! Glad you are feeling a bit better. I took some pictures so will post them later. As an occasional BC Light treat I think this will be ok and feel like a "treat" if others are having dessert/ice cream. It tastes quite tangy and will be tangyer? once frozen since freezing dulls sweetness but I like it.

Total carbs (1 litre) = 22.1g

Frozen Yogurt

150g Strawberries (9.3g carbs)
200g Double cream (3.2g carbs)
300g Greek yogurt (9.6g carbs)

Puree strawberries, mix cream and yogurt in bowl, add berry puree, pour into ice cream maker, mix, put in tub (or eat) and freeze Grin

Seri the yogurt maker I bought cost £20 and to make 1 litre yogurt is the cost of 1 litre milk. I used UHT so that I don't need to heat and cool the milk, the milk cost £0.90. I go through 1 litre of yogurt in 1.5 weeks so if I was buying the Total yogurt then it would cost me approx. £165.70 per year compared with £62.40 making my own (+£20 for initial yogurt maker outlay). I normally buy the Lidl one so I am only actually saving £3.12/year but my Lidl have often sold out of the FF version so that was why I wanted to buy my own.

JimmyCorkhill · 18/05/2014 12:09

B: BPC (had a lie-in so decided to have brunch instead!)
Brunch: Egg mayo salad, was delicious.
Dinner: mystery meal from freezer!! I know it's something I cooked for bootcamp but can't tell if it's curry or slow cooked chicken Grin

My DD (aged 4),out of nowhere, asked me when my tummy would shrink today.

SayraT · 18/05/2014 12:10

*make my own not buy my own Smile
