hiya guys, just checking in - feel like such a shite bootcamper right now, as I haven't posted for days, but I have food poisoning (total own stupid fault)
I am certainly not better, but am not writhing about any more either. Really enjoying reading when I can, loving watching the mental journeys you're all going through

magnums BIWI? Those utter bastards Grin

BIWI · 16/05/2014 18:41

pingufan - that looks perfect! If you're bloated, drink more water. (I know! You think it's not possible! But ... !)

Just checking in, am still hanging in there and fighting the urge for all things chocolate!! My backs been bad again, having deep tissue massage that hurts like buggery!! Back on the painkillers anti this anti that, so that makes me feel pukeySad
Feeling a bit sorry for my self, but onwards etc.
Well done on the new job weshould
Well done for the whoosh people, fantastic newsGrin
I agree bird we should all focus on our own journey whilst encouraging and getting and giving support, not beat yourselves up comparing.
Sometimes it's just hard going though!!
Happy Friday evening every one!

PseudoBadger · 16/05/2014 18:47

I'm not enjoying this bootcamp as much as last time :(
I'm hungry often, and keep feeling faint. I am breastfeeding still, but she's older now (7 months).

BIWI · 16/05/2014 18:54

Oh Pseudo, that doesn't sound good - it sounds like you're not eating enough. Perhaps you need to up your carbs for the moment?

Challenging day today as had lunch at a friend's and carb heavy menu.

I raided the kids veg batons and cheese and had some strawberries to keep me going. I know it's not strict boot camp but the alternative was eat the pastas!

Pork belly and salad for tea though so hopefully a better day tomorrow

pingufan · 16/05/2014 19:07

I have stuck to bc rules. No real dairy other than cream in decaf coffee twice a day and a babybel or slice of edam cheese a day. I am trying not to weigh everyday but I weighed yesterday and had gained a pound Shock In the past this would have derailed me but I have stuck to it. I'm hoping that it will have balanced out by Mon weigh day. Keep up the good work every body Smile

PseudoBadger · 16/05/2014 19:55

Thanks BIWI, I might switch to Light and start afresh, write this week off I think.

SayraT · 16/05/2014 20:25

Evening everyone Smile

Wondering if any of the LC experts or anyone else can answer a question. I know that LCing can do things to hormones etc when fat is lost hormones are released or something but I had a period two weeks ago and I've just started again.

I've always been regular and continued the same despite being on the implant for 8ish years now. Implant needs renewed/changed this October, Ive never bled in between periods before. Could this be related to LCing and if so why now I've been doing it since January.

Thanks for any advice/suggestions

pingufan · 16/05/2014 20:30

Sayra I'm the same, my periods are only just 3 weeks apart at the moment. I think it's to do with the fat cells releasing oestrogen when they break down which messes up your cycle

Best1sWest · 16/05/2014 20:32

Well still nothing... Have cut down on the dairy, only 4 small cubes of feta in my lunch.

B- Lidl Cumberland sausage with Mayo
L Greek salad
D steak, asparagus with butter, leafy salad with Mayo. Coconut cream.
3 cups of black tea, one coffee, 2 litres water so far.
S - celery with Mayo.

SayraT · 16/05/2014 20:41

Thanks pingu I thought it was something like that I just wonder why it's happened now and it's OHs weekend off and I only see him every 2nd weekend. Now I'm broken Sad

StuntNun · 16/05/2014 21:27

Sayra as Pingu says there is oestrogen in the fat cells that is released when you lose weight (on any diet not just low carb). Your body will adapt to produce less oestrogen and things will go back to normal or better. I used to get terrible period pains but now I feel nothing, I have ninja stealth periods.

ImSoOverIt · 16/05/2014 22:05

Hi all!

Funny what you A&E saying about oestrogen - my endometriosis pain flared up this week and I had a bit of a "show", I have not had a period since I had a Mirena fitted in 2012.

Had a good day today. Still kept off my whoosh weight loss, and I have been good despite being at a conference. I will confess to having a glass of wine this evening with friends at the pub, but I was in a celebratory mood as I won two undergraduate prizes at the conference!Grin I promise I will stick to bc rules after tonight, until my official graduation in July.

B - yogurt, coffee and cream

L - conference had very good selection of salad. Clotted cream with no pudding. Coffee

D - goats cheese salad at gastro pub. Glass of dry white.

I really hope I do not have a problem with dairy as I have taken to eating clotted cream by the spoonful! Blush I am a Devon bird and tbh I could probably always have done this but just wouldn't admit to it! Smile

ImSoOverIt · 16/05/2014 22:05

A&E = are Confused

ImSoOverIt · 16/05/2014 22:12

Oh and just to as to the unexpected benefits of bootcamp, I have discovered a new found intolerance/temperance when it comes to alcohol. Previously once I had cracked a bottle of white open, I would struggle to leave it unfinished, once I had started I would crave another glass.

However last night, despite deciding I would buy a bottle after handing in an assessment, I had one glass, dp poured me another, but I took one sip and gave the rest to him and went to bed. He thought I must be ill!

The same happened tonight. One glad then back to water. I wonder if the carb peaks and troughs can affect our cravings for alcohol?

ImSoOverIt · 16/05/2014 22:12

As = add. FFs!

spamm · 16/05/2014 22:42

Ok - surviving the day so far and no real cheating, although I put a spot of milk in my decaf coffee 'cause Starbucks was out of cream.

For lunch I managed to make it work well by inviting DH out for a late lunch at 2.30pm. He had tortilla chips and salsa, followed by a delicious-looking burrito. I had a fajita salad, but insisted on some changes - so it was steak, cheese, lettuce, cucumber, and guacamole. And I did NOT feel deprived at all!

Just been for a coffee with my neighbor - her basement was flooded last night, so was helping her clean and throw things away and now I am going to walk the dog.

I am feeling upbeat about things - although the beginning of next week could be a bit of a challenge as I am going on a 2 day business trip. Never have I been so excited to see "Make your own" tacos on the meeting agenda lunch - that means beef, salad, guac and cheese - I can do that, much better than sandwiches!

JimmyCorkhill · 16/05/2014 22:59

Survived the meal out! I wasn't perfect but it wasn't too bad. Half a roasted chicken with garlic butter, I swapped the fries for a salad but it was covered in a mystery dressing (definitely bad though!) and I did eat some coleslaw. Coffee with cream to finish. Better than a pizza though.

My period has come a week early too. That's really interesting about the oestrogen.

lowcarbforthewin · 16/05/2014 23:07

Imsooverit congratulations on the prizes, that's amazing

magso · 16/05/2014 23:10

I'm so over it - congratulations. Dh (also a Devonian) eats clotted cream by the spoonful too. Its been quite a change for me to eat high fat food.
I am using lactofree milk (because it has a lower carbohydrate content than regular milk and tastes fine) in a cup or two of redbush tea, but today whilst at work I got decaf coffee ( I don't much like coffee) with lashings of cream. Actually it was quite nice! I was lucky last time I was at work, on the way home (tired as always) the local coffee shop was handing out samples of iced coffee with huge blob of whipped cream on top. I licked off the cream and it was just what I needed! I know I was meant to go in and buy a full size one. Today it was a little cheese portion to keep me going till I got home. Last week I tried beef jerky (dried meat) but it tasted too greasy.
B-boiled egg and greek yogurt
L fried chicken and mixed green veg (works canteen)
D chicken and egg salad
