Wow! So much nattering that we've filled up the thread before the end of the week!

Here's the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for tomorrow morning.

And, for the Weight Tracker I'm not quite sure what happens with this link I think that you will be asked to enter your weight for this week and then you will see your individual graph.

I hope you all had a good week last week, and very good luck for week 2.

Helium - yes it could be portion control I suppose... I'll have a look at that. So gutted though :(

Crabby, cooked beef cheeks yesterday. Gorgeous. I've never seen pig cheeks but the recipe is similar.

Completely agree MrsH - PLEASE keep on those who are wobbling a bit if they haven't seen results this week. It DOES work, and what's the alternative? I wobbled and gave up last year and am now back here weighing considerably more. There is hope, if you're in doubt and think it might help do what I did and get some Ketostix just to check you're in ketosis. I have used no early losses in the past as justification to give up and just be more depressed. Flowers to all

I dunno how much I've got to lose really. I usually like to sit at around 11st but that's certainly not skinny for me - I'm 5' 7" - and what with losing a fair bit so quickly and easily I was dreaming of getting to 10 1/2 stone which I think would be just about right for my height/frame. I'd be thrilled with that!

Weighed in this morning and have now been doing this for 2 weeks with 2 transgressions.... half a bottle of red wine in week one and a double gin and tonic in week 2. Oh, and a few peas here and there!

I am thrilled to see on the scales this morning that I have now lost a total of 8.75lb in that two weeks.

My skin looks great, I don't feel hungry all the time (my biggest problem because I seem to have a pathological fear of feeling hungry and therefore overeat to prevent that feeling) and I am cooking and eating lovely food.

I usually put on and lose around 5-10lb (!) with AF but that major swing didn't seem to happen either which is interesting.

Today's menu:
Avocado and salmon for brekkie
Will cook up some chicken, leek, tomato, pesto and cream cheese with salad for lunch
Leftover Jamie Oliver fish pie with cauliflower mash

Can someone tell me more about coconut oil? Reading some of the messages and links I think it would be a good thing to add in to my diet but also for the kids. What form is best? Any particular brand?

Thank you!

Actually it was 9.75lb loss. Even better! So shocked that I downplayed it!

Kasbah - YY to the fear of being hungry! That used to be me! Far calmer now!

Morning all. Just over 3lbs off for me. Happy with that. It could have been more (and was until Friday) but I got all grumpy and peed off on Thursday evening so DH made me a white wine soda and I decided to low carb but not necessarily Bootcamp so that is what I did over the weekend. I can't even say it was Bootcamp Lite as it was def more relaxed than that! Not ideal but at least I am still sort of at it.

My back was playing up and I had bad sciatica and a toothache so was fed up anyway - hence the grumpiness! I wasn't enjoying what I was eating so something needed to change or I would have given up on day 4.

Back on track now but Bootcamp Lite today as had yoghurt with blueberries and some low carb granola for breakfast. I did have quite a bit of wine over the weekend but won't be now until next weekend.

Onwards and downwards again though!

5lbs off this week, my first week of strict BC! I did Light the week before and cut out choc, pasta etc the week before that and have now lost 13lbs in total :)

4lb off for me. Very happy with that.

Morning all! I've stayed the same, but I seem to have lost lost about half a stone since NYD by gently reducing carbs and then following the warm up. Unfortunately I can't be precise as initially I was using different scales - which seem not to be very accurate.

I feel slimmer, and am very glad I finally got round to measuring myself on Friday because despite no change in weight today, a good inch has gone off hips and waist. Since Friday! Grin

This week I plan to be more circumspect with dairy. I enjoy coconut oil in greek yogurt a little too much, perhaps.

Can someone explain the "inches lost but not necessarily weight" thing to me? How does that work then?

Report
GermanGirlinLDN · 20/01/2014 09:40

I am 6.6lbs down and I am very very happy. Smile I am looking forward to Friday as it's my weigh-in day with my Personal trainer. I am 100% BC food wise but I don't drink enough. I allowed myself diet coke for the first week additional to water but will exclude this now as well.

Good luck to everybody, first week is over.

Dairy. Hmm. I may have been overdoing that, I'm not sure. No more than I was in the two weeks I lost 6lb in though?!

Mling, yes, I measured myself and have lost half an inch off boobs and waist and two inches off hips - but only 2lbs down. I look slimmer and my clothes are looser. I can't explain how that works.

I think I overdid it with the cheese and cream, so will try and limit those this week. Also, I am having a few cups of tea with milk. I pretty much hate tea or coffee without milk, so might have one coffee with cream per day and try green tea (yuck!).

Weightloss, water & the good news

StuntNun explains it better than me must remember to copy it next time she posts it but basically when you are losing weight your cells push the fat in and out of them, if you are drinking enough water they will take in some water instead of the fat. Water is as heavy as fat but it's 'thinnner' so your jeans will be loser but the scales will stay the same. A little while later (few days/week) your cells will get rid of the water and you will get the 'woosh' on the scales :)

IF you are cheating in a minor (or major) way, you will be storing glycogen, glygon will make you heavier on the scales but not 'fatter' - drink lots of water and try harder not to cheat.

Low carbing is not forgiving of cheating especially if you aren't yet in ketosis. It is not at all like low calorie where you can just eat less calories at the next meal - but it's also not like 'low calorie' as it's food for you and actually works!!

SteeleyeStan Brilliant results with your bloods - this way of eating is so 'against' what we have been (wrongly) told for so long, it's a leap of faith for some, but actually totally makes sense if you read up about it.

There's the blog. Ruby thank you for that kind comment! With all this interest I'm feeling guilty now about not posting anything on it for so long. Blush DD is away for a month from the 30th [sob!] so I'll have more time then. I might photograph the finished pigs' cheeks later and put up that recipe.

Please they call them ox cheeks I think and yes, very similar. Yum.

Flowers and congrats to all bootcampers and losers.
Lucy almost a stone this month is amazing!
Four 3 stone! Well done!

Big hugs to anyone disappointed. It does work, I promise, and you will get there if you stick to this. Ask yourself...

  1. Have you enjoyed your food this week?
  2. Have you felt hungry or deprived (taking into account that you can't have nuts, berries or the odd taste of very dark chocolate, which is hard)?
  3. Are you feeling better in other ways? More clear headed, less bloated?
  4. Is this a sustainable and enjoyable way of eating?

I've lost 4lbs this week which I'm happy with. I'm still feeling bloated around the tummy but that's because my period is doing that incredibly fucking annoying thing of start-stop-start, so i'm stuck in limbo feeling bloated and bleaurgh, knowing that the floodgates could open at any time (and I mean that in a most literal way!). Hmm Grin

Feeling ever so much better in myself at last though - clearer headed, waking up earlier in the mornings, not all foggy and grotty. Still achey and back pain is bad, but hoping that the last remnants of this cold will bugger off this week and I shall be springing around like a gazelle!

Kate Nobody knows! It is a mystery! Just experience that a lot of people find they have spells when their weight doesn't move on the scales yet they look, and indeed measure, thinner.

I have given up trying to understand the blips and fluctuations and think it is the overall trend that matters. Whoever said "The trend is your friend" should have a medal!
