Wow! So much nattering that we've filled up the thread before the end of the week!

Here's the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for tomorrow morning.

And, for the Weight Tracker I'm not quite sure what happens with this link I think that you will be asked to enter your weight for this week and then you will see your individual graph.

I hope you all had a good week last week, and very good luck for week 2.

Giraffes - I think I agree. The recipe thread hadn't moved last time I looked either and that is so useful.

Holy crap.

I have lost 8lbs.

EIGHT POUNDS!

I haven't cheated once, apart from accidentally eating a pack of baby sweetcorn, which I don't even count as a cheat as it was veg. And, who cheats on veg?

I've been drinking 4l water a day minimum. And, consequently spending approximately 4 hours a day on the loo.

EIGHT POUNDS!

BIWI floats. Floats, I tell you. Witchcraft.

Am very very delighted with 9.5lb and when I don't lose this week or the next or the next (assuming I haven't cheated) then I will come back to this post and read it again and again so I remember that I do, now, believe in this and it works and the trend is my friend (also love that).

Also 6cm off my tummy - which is the worse bit of me. All my measurements have gone down this week and I can feel the difference in fit of trousers and sort of shape of the horrible wobbly bit that is my middle. I appreciate that I've only had a good loss because I have much more to lose than most others here.

Arbuthnot don't know if anyone else said but I really applaud your honesty - how easy it would be to lie on the internet, or change your start weight, or whatever. I thought I couldn't do it, but I could.

Thanks for the support - and commiserations to all those like me who haven't lost anything.

Saturday I ate:
2 boiled eggs
Ham and cream cheese rolls, cucumber and celery sticks
Snack of pork scratchings
Butter prawn curry, cauli rice.
2.5 litres water

Yesterday I ate:
Bacon, fried eggs and rocket
tuna mayo salad
Low carb shepherd's pie.
2 litres water - this is low for me. I average 2.5 litres a day even when not on Bootcamp, but I do struggle to get it up to 3 litres regularly for some reason.

Morning losers! My weight is the same as last week due to silliness at the weekend but am back on the straight and narrow now, honest.
That article in the Times about lc and the brain made me immediately get the guy's book on my Kindle. It's interesting reading, though very sciencey in places!
So far today:
B - 2 hard boiled eggs, spoonful of coconut oil, tea
S- bit of Cheddar
L - will have salmon with broccoli and lots of butter

holmessweetholmes · 20/01/2014 12:05

Oh and Crabby, I'd love to have a look at your recipes but the link posted upthread isn't working. Could you re-post it, pretty please? Thanks!

stuntnun I love all yr science bits - make a lot of sense to me, but just to confirm (hiding from BIWI's big stick)are you then def of the view that calories matter, even on this WOE, so you do hv to limit cream/cheese etc - or yr body will limit your intake naturally because you are simply satiated. Am interested in this as I am a greedy guzzler and can eat massive portions of say cauli with butter or 3-egg omelettes rather than 2... So maybe I do hv to look at my portion sizes a bit down the line (stamps feet/has a mini strop)

Pret do kale crisps!

How did I not know this? Ok, they're £1.50 for a little bag and I'm not sure, tbh, that they really taste terribly nice but, it's the principle! Low carb snacks are becoming easier to find, we will take over the world, just...slowly Smile

StuntNun · 20/01/2014 12:57

Calorie intake does matter Googoo but because we're eating food our bodies are designed to use then this WOE allows our bodies to self-regulate our food intake. By eating carbs, especially sugar, we have messed up our blood sugar levels, increased our fat storage, in some cases reduced our insulin sensitivity, screwed up our response to the hunger and satiety hormones leptin and ghrelin, etc. When you start this WOE you probably will eat more calories than later on, but as you become fat-adapted your appetite will become more in step with your requirements. If you are overweight your fat cells release leptin which tells your brain that your body has loads of fat stored so you don't need to eat as much. Better to let your body work out what you need and not worry too much about the number of calories.

One great thing about this WOE is that if you do go mad on a cheese binge, eat too many nuts or mainline pork scratchings, then because you aren't releasing much insulin it's harder for your body to store fat. Sam Feltham did an experiment where he ate 5,000 calories a day (low carb) for three weeks and he only gained 3 lb and lost over an inch from his waist! When he ate the same amount of calories on a carb-rich diet he gained 16 lb. So my thinking would be to keep an eye on the very high calorie foods (alcohol, nuts, cheese, cream) but trust your body to tell you when you're hungry and when you're full.

Hello thread two!

I was very good all last week, but took a day off on Friday, due to an unavoidably sandwich-heavy buffet lunch, and dinner out in the evening (with my lovely MN Crepey chums).

The effect of the dinner was reduced somewhat by a violent allergic reaction to a sneaky hazelnut, which meant that I threw the lot up again. Nice! (Not recommended as a weight-loss tool, may I add).

Net result is no loss this week, however, I am still a bit "puffy" after the allergic reaction, which may have something to do with it. I am not disheartened at all, as I lost three pounds the week before; also I have done this before, and I am happy with "slow and steady".

Anyway, Scrambled egg for breakfast, chicken soup with cheese on the side for lunch....onwards and upwards.

SnowieBear · 20/01/2014 13:24

Wow, some great losses! Congrats to all! For those of you who didn't lose this week, keep at it, it WILL work.

I started the previous week and lost about 3.5lbs. Lost 2.5lbs this week, so 6lbs in total in two weeks, I am well chuffed, it's nearly half a stone. I'm at 10st 9lbs today, I'm aiming for 9st 6lbs minimum... if I could make good inroads into getting there before my Easter holiday, that'll be fantastic. Really enjoying eating this way, not feeling deprived and going through 3 litres of water a day... I spent my life visiting the toilet Grin.

Mostly, I'm enjoying the look of disbelief in my DH's face when I sit down to enjoy my dinner.... he cannot square "diet" with what I'm putting away.

Yesterday's food was:

B: Cream coffee, leftover savoury mince.
L: 2-egg mayo salad with a smattering of cheese & onion mix.
D: 2 pork chops with asparragus, in mustard sauce.
S: Cream coffee.

Finally.... there are so many wonderful, helpful and inspiration people on these threats I would forget someone if I went for naming you. You are all brill, you show us we can do this and enjoy it. Thank you! Thanks

Blimey how frightening Cointreau! Hope you're ok now.

I gained a bit this week - had put on a pound by Wednesday and consoled myself with sugary food Blush also [stupid]

Think I need to keep an eye on portion sizes, as I've only got a stone to lose. I've started a new thread, any other 'little losers' please come and join me!

Eek to allergic reaction, Cointreau! Hope you are all better now.

Well, I've lost 4lb, which I'm happy with. I had hoped it might be 6, but I have definitely not drunk enough water today and I missed breakfast by accident and I had 3 Tasmanian cherries today. So not the best day, and it shows.

B - missed it - had 1 Tasmanian cherry.
L - smoked salmon (3 slices), cream cheese and rocket salad
D - sausages (I know), steamed brussel sprouts and carrots, fried onions and mushrooms.
S - 2 more sausages and a babybel.

I still haven't got around to putting butter on my steamed veg, largely because, as I've said before, I share my plate with the baby and he has enough trouble picking up veg with his fingers as it is, I think the butter would make it way too tricky.

I gained a pound - not surprising as I only really started properly yesterday and had been eating really badly in the last few weeks.

I had bacon and Total for breakfast, about to make cod and veg for lunch. I'm desperately craving sugar right now so I need to eat something soon!

hello my crepey friend!
Glad you're feeling a bit better after Friday's hoo ha. Have you ascertained that there were hazelnuts in what you ate or is that an educated guess? I tried to stick with BC light on Friday evening which was a challenge! Lots of tatziki, some stewed aubergine / veg and too much prosecco...! Not ideal.
Haven't done BC proper as have been LCing for ages now but still v pleased to report 2lbs off this week after rather a long period of staying the same.

I've lost 6lb. I'm over the moon. I can't kid myself though, I did have my first period in ten weeks. That has something to do with it.

I'm very pleased though. I've just woke up and I'm looking forward to getting back onto days tomorrow and then the challenges will cone. I'm just about to make a moussaka so I can take some to work. I have Greek yoghurt for breakfast. I've got to take three meals a day in!

Thanks Captain I'll try making a less sweet flapjack but will have to really work on packed luncehs.

Since doing this I have been making LC breakfast and supper for ds and haven't had bread or biscuits in the house for a week and he hasn't really missed them. He did ask for toast this am. but accepted it when I said there was no bread!

Thanks betty that shows how much just one pound really is.

Thanks to whoever put me on, I'm way down the bottom (twit), it take s ages to find myself on the iPad Grin
My first weight has gone though so now I can't see how much I've lost, if some lovely loser could put it back for me, 168.
I think that's 9 lb for week one? Shock I fully expect to only lose a couple this week though which is fine as long as it is going doooowwwwwnn.
Yikes, it's That Week though. The one before my period. Ugh, it's gonna be hard isn't it?
Just in preperation, is the hot chocolate 'recipe' posted on the last thread ok? I would like it on Saturday so I don't feel left out of the treats.

Afternoon!

Some really good losses here. Flowers to you

And sorry for all of those of you who are struggling. If you haven't lost, or have only lost a little bit, be really honest with yourselves - have you really been following the rules to the letter?

If you still think you have, but you aren't seeing the scales reflecting this, then start to keep a food diary so that you can see what might be impacting on your weight/lack of loss.

And post your meals here so that we can see what we can diagnose.
