Think I may have put him off by making it sound like hard work

Very basic internet dating issue.

Been chatting to guy online (he is single but 40ish) he asked to meet so fine I said ok when and where? He came back with a day.

I realise (due to my limited availability) that I prob should have suggested a day and time etc

Cos I then replied backsaying not easy to meet in the weekday evenings because would have to get babysitter, could do lunchtimes in the week, or every other sat. Blah Blah Bit like in those 80s films when people said I will find you a window!!

Finishing up with a jokey bit about well if that hasn't put you off

Thing is it prob has hasn't it? he's read the mail thought omg how complicated and run for the hills (as we on mumsnet like to say).

Shame cos it was instant attraction on my part. Suppose if he is really interested it wouldn't put him off.

Anyway he's not he only iron I have in the fire (lol) and I have similar probs with the other trying to meet up. It's not that easy.

do you have his number? if so best thing to do is text asking him where he works and if he fancied meeting for lunch one day

v simple and cool

wintercitylover · 19/01/2009 19:06

yes we've swapped mobile nos. however he said yesterday his mobile was not working atm for texting. Hmmm

He's sort of quite forthcoming but vague with it. it's beginning to piss me off a bit already so maybe not a good idea.

I think he's got sweetshop syndrome.

FFS it's only lunch.

my mobile is working for texts but not calls

tis possible

just send it and forget you have, then wait to see if he replies

wintercitylover · 19/01/2009 19:14

right I have established where he works. Jeez like pulling teeth.

I have to go out soon to collect DS1 and while I am out will consider whether I can be bothered to take it further.

Perhaps I am better off with B.O.B. and Frank Lampard. - I will be seeing him play on Saturday.

no harm in meeting for lunch, you may hit it off hugely

aseriouslyblondemoment · 19/01/2009 20:25

Oh jesus not another man with phone issues[pulling one's hair out with frustration emoticon]
this thread will run and run....

wintercitylover · 19/01/2009 20:38

Must be common if Beyonce sings about it in If I Were a Boy !!

I havent decided yet what to do. Perhaps hes just not that into me.

Although if someone comes on really strong it does freak me out a bit tbh.

OP posts:
aseriouslyblondemoment · 19/01/2009 20:42

er yes!
theres just no happy medium i think!
and i'm wondering whether this thread should now read...
..'think he may have put me off...'

ninah · 19/01/2009 22:24

Unnatural Selection
or Motley Crue possibly ...

wintercitylover · 19/01/2009 22:59

Ok I have just mailed him suggesting a place (half way between my work and his) and either lunchtime or early evening. Along the lines of what you suggested Lou.

The rest is now up to him.

OP posts:
wintercitylover · 19/01/2009 22:59

not a specific place just an area.

OP posts:
lou33 · 19/01/2009 23:03

oh well done, i would rather do that and know one way or another instead of wondering and waiting

aseriouslyblondemoment · 20/01/2009 10:19

so anything to report then?

wintercitylover · 20/01/2009 10:25

He's 'going to to look in his diary and let me know' - that email was sent in early hours of the morning.

Should have just taken him up on original offer which would have been today!!

OP posts:
aseriouslyblondemoment · 20/01/2009 10:49

well that's progress then.
let's hope that he'll be in touch soon

lou33 · 20/01/2009 13:19

i hope he gets back to you soon

aseriouslyblondemoment · 20/01/2009 13:57

any news your end Lou?

lou33 · 20/01/2009 15:38

i have someone here actually, he is playing on the ps3 with my kids (known him almost 2 yrs and he wants to see if we can have a more serious thing)

wintercitylover · 20/01/2009 15:47

hmm he's online (on the site) but not talking to me.

OP posts:
lou33 · 20/01/2009 15:50

i often forget to log off places and wander off

wintercitylover · 20/01/2009 15:58

true I sometimes keep site running and do other things.

I really and truly don't know why I have this angsty vibe about this one really as I am certainly not like that with other of the guys I talk to.

In fact in one of the other ones, in particular I seem to find it an amusing little character trait - he seems a bit ditzy IYKWIM and we now have quite a comfortable virtual relationship.

OP posts:
aseriouslyblondemoment · 20/01/2009 16:27

at least he sounds child friendly Lou which is great, but is he right for you?
wcl think hes keeping options open
fingers crossed he'll get in touch and set a time

lou33 · 20/01/2009 17:38

i dont think there is a mr right for me, just a series of mr right nows

however he is a really nice guy, i have known him for 2 yrs as i said, and on a purely superficial level, very beautiful

i cant see it lasting forever tho, his age will mean he will want his own kids at some point , which i cant and wouldnt give him even if i could

but who knows eh?

aseriouslyblondemoment · 20/01/2009 17:44

Oh Lou
its a hard one to call isn't it
you just don't know what life is going to throw at you
i thought that once about a man i knew
oh well another one i screwed up lol!

lou33 · 20/01/2009 19:34

no you dont

i didnt think after 17.5 yrs i would leave my h, but i did

anyway he likes my cooking it seems as he has eaten it all
