Happy New Year and Happy New Thread to all the single parents looking for a place to rant, rave, moan, share the highs and the lows and chat with people that know! It is the second thread and probably a slow one if the first is anything to go by, but it's here when we need it.

There is a lot of ill's going around it seems. Dd is back to school tomorrow. I hope you feel better; try cutting an onion in half and putting it cut side uppermost on your bedside; I swear by it.

That's an interesting suggestion Solo will definitely look into that over the winter months.

Solo · 20/09/2016 11:20

It works for me 99% of the time. It draws bacteria into its layers. I find that if Dd is ill and I start getting a sore throat, the onion stops mine progressing and the more crap in the air, the quicker the onion goes mouldy. It's a cheap preventative.

I think ds is mildly dyspraxic many signs are there from researching recently which is proving to be a bit of a stress as it will hold him back in his education at secondary school if steps aren't brought in by the school. I need to sort out an OT assessment via the GP asap but thanks to the NHS waiting lists malarchy it ain't gonna be fast!

Perhaps I have PMT too this week I feel like I need to mow the lawn three times over to calm down i.e. properly wear myself out to get some decent quality sleep.

Luckily it is my monthly all over body rub at the local massage salon today at 5 pm and it can't come quick enough for me!

Hope you all have a good day today. :)

Solo · 23/09/2016 00:22

Ooooh! Flower! @ body rub.

Waiting lists are a blooming nuicance aren't they! My Dd is waiting for her tonsils to come out!

Hi Solo and all - I think there is a 100 day waiting list guideline isn't there with the NHS? Personally I do feel it has gone to the dogs. As to assessments by OT etc. I may just about be able to afford a private referral if it is £100 or something I have a list of local OT professionals who work with children. Just time poor this week!

Hope we are all feeling on top. I am calming down from the stress of it at least. It is great fun hearing all the news about secondary school since it is all new to me and ds!

As to the monthly all over body rub I swear by it as one of my stress management strategies. Any decent beauty salon will have these massages on offer. They also do Swedish rubs but I find those a bit over the top (they hurt!) so I plump for the deep tissue rub instead.

Well hope everyone's having a great weekend.
Friday I whatsapped the bloke - got to the bottom of it all and he says happy to just talk but no relationship. Asked him yesterday if he still wanted to meet as friends on the Sunday as we'd originally said (but also said I think I know the answer but I'll still ask) and what a surprise he was busy, but still happy to talkHmmConfused. So I've archived the chat and told myself to step forward and move on - don't want to be 'that' woman and when I look back at it all I still don't think I was wrong for what i said, but think we're both a bit touchy about things.
Got back from great trip on Fruday night open air cinema to discover no Foscat. Appeared next day and knew something wasn't right. Vets in the afternoon (luckily they've started a Saturday clinic so regular fee) looks like she's been hit possibly by a car. Pain meds given and trying to keep an eye on her.....

So instead of having a date with a guy I really thought might just have potential I'm trying to keep cleaning the house whilst looking after a sick Foscat and getting tearful thinking I'm fed up of being fucking Cinderella

Foslady · 25/09/2016 16:27

Sorry - that was really self indulgent

Solo · 25/09/2016 23:23

You are allowed self indulgence Fos Thanks and I hope FosCat is okay too.

Flowerpower41 · 26/09/2016 06:23

Fos you weren't being self-indulgent at all that is why we have threads such as these so we can offload and share and compare with others. :)

Foslady · 26/09/2016 18:08

Thank you - I guess I get lonely for a cuddle, be someone's some one special........and when I think I'm getting somewhere with a bloke I really fancy the arse off like I always seem to mess it up! Oh well, onwards and upwards!
Hope today has been a good day for everyone

Solo · 26/09/2016 22:55

What makes you think you are to blame Fos? Seriously, I bet it's not you at all. I know what you mean about being lonely for a cuddle though; I get like that at times too :(. Stay strong and Mr Very Right will come along for you; one that is worthy of you :) Thanks

Checking in. Work is nuts and I've got a small hospital procedure on Friday (bowels / ibs) so feeling rather naffed off at the moment. Add secondary visits and I don't know whether I'm coming or going.

Back later. Flowers

Solo · 28/09/2016 00:27

Hi meg Thanks it's nice to 'see' you :) chin up! I too am going to be looking at secondary schools (Dd's year 5, but looking early). I hope your procedure is not too stressful or unpleasant for you.

A friend of mine has ended her relationship and he's getting nasty, telling lies to the children; she will not bad mouth him at all and he knows it! I'm so angry for her Angry. He told the older Dc's not to listen to mummy as she tells lies! grrrrrrrrrrr!

OP posts:
Foslady · 28/09/2016 21:28

Hope all goes well Meg - be thinking about you.

Have fun looking round schools Solo - I embarrassed dd by touching the wave motion set up and sending it crashing to the floor!Blush

Solo · 28/09/2016 22:49

Oooh! Fos Grin goes off to google wave motion set up

OP posts:
Solo · 28/09/2016 22:51

Thought that was what it was :)

OP posts:
Foslady · 29/09/2016 06:51

They'd made this fab set up with kebab sticks with marshmallows on each end toes up on string. All I did was touch it to make the wave and the clamps collapsed!!!!

megletthesecond · 29/09/2016 07:34

Oops fos!

I've rather enjoyed the science classrooms. I let ds lead the way on most visits so we saw lots of science labs, sports halls, IT classrooms and libraries.

They give away an awful lot of sweets on those visits Hmm .

megletthesecond · 30/09/2016 14:41

Just got back from my lovely bowel investigation at the hospital. Being a lightweight I needed sedation so I'm currently whoozy on pethidine, it doesn't suit me tbh, has set off nausea.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend. I'm just pottering for the next 24hrs.

Foslady · 30/09/2016 21:51

Hope you're ok Meg - be kind to yourself x

Solo · 01/10/2016 01:39

Ditto what Fos said Thanks

megletthesecond · 01/10/2016 12:05

Thanks Smile .

Feeling much perkier today. My stepmum has taken the kids for lunch so I'm enjoying the peace and having a tidy up.

Solo · 02/10/2016 12:45

Glad to hear it :)

Oh, I just typed a long post about me losing my shit with the DC's this morning about dicking around and taking me for granted. And it's vanished. Never mind.

Hope everyone is having a good Monday.
