Ive done the costa coffee thing once before, just isnt my thing and i dont think it sounds like it would be his either.

You might be right, think i do like the bookshelf too much Grin

Betty79 · 03/05/2011 21:02

btw anyone reading anything good off the bookshelf at the mo?

NOmeansNO · 03/05/2011 21:29

my current reading is crap. seems fitting as just now the only time i get to myself to read in this house is when i am actually on the crapper.

i could be doing with something new and exciting too.

dtm - kiwi - has a thing about how he is going home to NZ after 12 years army, with just his bag, like he arrived just his bag. but everytime we met up he decided he was never going home to NZ. So i decided for him.whatever he was doing it didn't include me Grin

beachbum - remember i had to choose between him and irish, and i chose irish as was finding it impossible to meet with beachbum as too busy.

irish - i have been really good and not contacted him to arrange that drink we were supposed to go on when i moved.

OP posts:
ninah · 03/05/2011 23:10

nmn not contacted him YET lol
I really enjoyed monica ali In the Kitchen recently, it's about a chef who's basically cracking up
the last book I read was good but grim, about anti aparthaid terrorists in SA
I am guessing you want something a bit more cheerful ..
I don't bother with contraception (or sex) and soon I'll be too old but my friend who used to work for BPA tells me lots of old gimmers who think their ovaries have packed up end up with surprising and embarrassing unwanted pregnancies. So if I ever do have sex again it will be belt and braces
Why won't they sterilise women, obv of a sound mind, who've had dc and don't want any more??? bet they dont give men this hassle over the chop
you just keep trying the condoms for another 3 months Mr Hartwright, never mind your latex allergy - Right. Like Fun.

adamschic · 04/05/2011 11:25

Busy at work and laptop still in for repair so not getting chance to catch up so excuse me for being a bit self centered. I was trying to be cryptic about DD yesterday as I am paranoid about saying too much on threads (Shall we move to chat so the posts gets deleted eventually just in case?) It was for head girl, only one chance at that!!!!!!! Practically a toss up, apparantley, so shame they didn't chose the one who isn't as well connected. That's putting in mildly. Grin

MzD glad to hear that it's not true about healing over. Grin

FairyLightsForever · 04/05/2011 11:57

I find contraceptives are a complete PITA because I get a bad reaction to anything hormonal- I had Obstetric Cholestasis (reaction to the high levels of hormones in the last month or so of pregnancy) with both pregnancies and have discovered that the pill gives me a similar problem. I think that when I finally do get back in the saddle, I will have to have an old fashioned coil as well as condoms. It's about the only option if you can't do hormones.

Ninah did she also tell you that your chances of non-identical twins get higher as you get closer to menopause? Grin

FairyLightsForever · 04/05/2011 11:58

Oh and as for reading, I'm swapping between 'The Politics of Breastfeeding' and Terry Pratchett at the moment! Confused

ninah · 04/05/2011 12:55

jeeez - spits tea
runs off for baling twine and a large needle

FairyLightsForever · 04/05/2011 13:50

Offers Ninah large amounts of Wine as anesthetic...

Apparently the reason is that your body starts releasing two eggs at a time as it knows time is running short.

davidtennantsmistress · 04/05/2011 19:30

my current reading other than the trashy mags is ohh gok's autobiography the last thing I read. althou I do need to buy 2 new james patterson books from the womens murder series.

Monty27 · 04/05/2011 20:42

Shock at old gimmers and double yolks Shock

Ahem, Evening Ladies

I've been reading The Kiterunner, it's been hard work tbh but maybe that's 'cos I've been reading it too sporadically iyswim. I've been give The Room, Booker Prize I think and I can't remember who wrote it and I'm too knackered to go to my bedside table and get it lol.

Update - Everything is going great with Celtic Grin

Work is mayhem Confused

Ds's fine, but tiring Confused

Mzdemeanour · 04/05/2011 21:25

Hi FLF - that'll explain my two then! Have to say that much as I regret in some ways having gone through the menopause fairly early (started about 38, pretty done and dusted now and happily on HRT) it's bloody liberating not having to worry about getting pg ... particularly after a six year hiatus.

Currently reading some horror nonsense, just finished a Neil Gaiman novel which I liked as well as the Room - and planning on The Slap after that ...

Had weekend away for the first time ever last weekend which was great ... and we're planning a camping trip for August bank holiday - god help all of us, particularly me, as I haven't been camping for 20 years!

NOmeansNO · 04/05/2011 21:51

hello all,

mrst - Grin at flowers from dp and web chat. fantastic.

msd - oooh a wkd away. just you and dp(is that name we are going for)? which neck of the woods are you going?

so far so good with this coil. no pain, and bleeding stopped. miracels may happen and this will work, then once the 5 yrs is up i will be well and truly over the min age for sterilkisation and get that.

quiet on man front here. wee msg from mr depp, and been texting a pof'er.

been unofficially offered a promotion at work today. Smile

FairyLightsForever · 05/05/2011 13:39

Congratulations NMN! (on job front and the lack of pain!)

Ha ha for camping MzD, have you got an inflatable matress, the ground's a lot harder these days

waves hello to everyone else

I have tonsilitis again, feel rubbish, have doctors at 5pm and can hopefully get antibiotics. Going to lay on the sofa now x

NOmeansNO · 05/05/2011 20:17

what did docs say fairy?

OP posts:
FairyLightsForever · 05/05/2011 20:38

Laryngitis, rather than tonsilitis, no antibiotics, I just need to get as much rest as possible... ha ha. At least DD's dad will be coming tomorrow, so he can take over the childcare while I retreat to bed.
DS has kind of been trying to help, but is a 14yr old and so he's good at entertaining DD, but not so good at helping with housework. Stuff it, it can wait til I'm better Smile

NOmeansNO · 05/05/2011 21:37

oh no housework. ignore that. even when i am well i ignore that Grin

i have however, been ignoring my coursework too much as lateSad neeed to get back into the swing of it.

OP posts:
FairyLightsForever · 06/05/2011 14:46

To be honest, I mostly try to ignore the housework, but it now looks like a bomb's gone off, I keep tripping over things in my dozy state Grin maybe I should use that as an excuse to lay on the sofa and not move? (I wish!) I actually have to go and get DD from nursery and entertain her til 6pm when DS gets home from friend's house.

I don't envy you with coursework NMN, I am the worst procrastinator with anything like that, hence being largely unqualified.Sad

Betty79 · 06/05/2011 18:39

Hi everyone, its friday night and the Wine is open Grin god I love fridays when I get home from work. Lots of crap going on at work with a redesign of the whole service and colleagues being moved about. I was meant to be moving bases and undertaking a different role, which would have meant childcare issues, but ive fought it and been told i can stay but a close friend of mine hasnt and its so :(

Anyway, I havent heard from my date for sat so havent bothered arranging a babysitter. Didnt really want to go anyway. Am off to browse the books on this shelf i think :)

Will be back later to read posts properly (after a glass or two lol)

NOmeansNO · 06/05/2011 19:13

betty - is that a new term for fishing "browsing the shelves!". lol i like it.

i have 2 pof'ers texting. and its doing my wick in tbh. Grin phone was driving me mental at work today between that and just general friends to see what was happening this wkd.

i'm going to try and study for an hour. then crack open the Wine

OP posts:
Monty27 · 06/05/2011 19:49

Evening ladies have cracked a beer here too, god my eyes are burning between tiredness and hayfever. Celtic coming over either tomorrow or Sunday Grin. That'll put a rocket up my posterior to tidy etc.

NMN and Betty your poffing or browsing is busy Grin

NOmeansNO · 06/05/2011 20:48

monty

i am off to friends to order takeaway and grub out. not sure if this coile making me extra hungry and i am gonna pile on the pounds. but i definately seem to have grown some massive boobies!! people commentating today. oops.

got my car tax today. can you believe it was only £20. i wooped with joy when the notification came in.

OP posts:
Betty79 · 06/05/2011 21:59

wish my car tax was only £20 boo mine has just come through at £130 for the year, its only a little 1.4 c3! have u got one of the new eco cars? and as for the big boobies, wish mine had grown when i had the coil put in...gonna sulk now lol

And yes back to browsing the bookself, have had a nice message from a scot tonight who has relocated, he looks nice so we'll see Wink

Betty79 · 06/05/2011 22:00

sorry monty meant to say hi too :) hope you have fun with celtic tomorrow!

davidtennantsmistress · 07/05/2011 19:49

nmn - wish mine was that - and embrace your big boobies - we like big boobies (just not good when running as my ample norkage usually means 2 potential black eyes while combatting :o) well done on the promotion as well.

betty - :o at browsing the shelf that's a good way to put it, is there anyone interesting about atm - ie fish holding weirdos lol.

monty - have fun with celtic.

flf - how are you feeling now? agree the house work can wait, but good on DS for entertaining DD.

How is everyone anyhow? have weighed today the first time since 12 weeks, and so far to date at 24+4 i've put on 1/2 a stone YAY! so we think i'll make it to term only putting on 1 stone - hmmm I think not lol. would be nice thou. still bump is cooking nicely. DP is back off to somewhere nice and sunny as we speak, however all is good as he's moving ships, which means (hopefully) they'll keep him on this one instead of moving him back so he'll be home in about 8 weeks time. (fingers crossed hoping & praying) if he is then i'll personally snog every blokey who's higher up the chain than him & decides he can stop on that boat. :o still we had 3 good video dates, incl DS getting in on the action so was good to see them 2 clowining about together.
